Beck has been working in the bookstore cafe with her grandmother, dating a nice man, and just got her P.I. license. Her college freshman roommate Jacqueline calls begging her to come down to Miami to investigate her fathers death not convinced it was a suicide as the police believe. Jacqueline was the roommate from hell but, its a paying job. She takes the job and finds herself in the world of the rich and things are not what they seem.
Great read, great character development. I didn’t read the first couple books and I didn’t feel like I was really missing anything.

This book held me right to the very end. I will be going back to read the previous book for sure, but I was able to follow and understand this 2nd book perfectly well! I was captivated the entire time I read!

Something I appreciated about this book, is how the author shows that when things go unexpected or bad, it does not define who you are or the life that is ahead of you. The two girls, Tilly and Kate, had faced things that they should not have had to go through, but yet they did. Where they are now, is because they worked thru the stuff, and they lived the lift they wanted. It wasn’t easy for them, but they did it. To me that was really empowering. The book had its own power, I was hoping for the best for the two of them. How could I not? The author took a hard subject to talk about, and completely nailed it. This was a really strong read, and I felt my emotions, yes, I could not put it down. I loved the author’s writing! Loved this book!

This book is by far a must read in my opinion! I could not have asked for more! I will be for sure reading the first book in the series! Do not pass up this must read author or book/series! Highly recommend!

Such an intense story and it had a hold on me from the very beginning. I didn’t realize this was a series so I didn’t read the first book, but I will be ASAP. I loved this book and the characters are lovable and the plot is just as good! Both of the main characters have been through some difficult times in their lives but that didn’t stop them! I went into this book blind and I think you should too! I always say going in blind is the best way to start a book, keeps it interesting and more surprising! I will be reading book 1..because I loved the thrill, drama and suspense of this book! I need more!

Stumble & Fall (A Legacy of Silence, #2)Stumble & Fall by Amy Rivers
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Stumble and Fall was interesting. Definitely a lot of themes but they all weave together beautifully. Some very dark themes that could be trigger warnings for some, so be warned. I thoroughly enjoyed it. A story about two sisters who go through so many obstacles in their lives that most people would struggle with. Their lives intersect in a way that they never expected.
Tilly went through extreme trauma as a teen, and it’s followed her in life. Becoming a victim of DV when with her high school boyfriend she realizes now that it was bigger than her. It’s the way they recruit for the trafficking ring, and is heavily involved in what her sister and her boyfriend are currently going up against. Now moving back to her home state with current boyfriend has brought on extreme anxiety she’s trying to cope with. Till tragedy strikes….
Kate is out to take the ring down. Not only to avenge her sister but also the teenage girl she lost at the high school who got mixed up with the wrong crowd. Kate and Roman were involved deeply in trying to take down the trafficking ring recently. Kate as the high school counselor and Roman local law enforcement. Unfortunately for them it wasn’t before they could save a teenager’s life.
What happens when they get too close again?
Will they succeed this time?
I liked the story the author put on the page. Even with the darker themes I enjoyed. I look forward to digging deeper into this author’s other books. don’t let the dark themes stop you. Me, I’m going back to read book 1, since I definitely started book 2.

This is the second book in the series, which I did not realize but was still able to understand what was going on. Kate and Tilly, sisters who have been through some tough times, are trying to find their new normal. Kate is a counselor who finally has her own practice and an office to make her own. Tilly is working as a nurse. These girls are wonderful characters that show you that anything is possible and you do not have to let bad events keep you from doing what you want. A well written psychological thriller to add to your books!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Stumble and Fall is a great read! It is a second book in a series, but can be read as a stand alone – although it will make you want to read book 1! Tilly and her sister Kate have been through a lot in their lives – and those experiences make them darn good at their jobs. Tilly is a nurse that assists in forensic evidence in rape cases and Kate is a counselor who is building a safe house to help young girls. After surviving their own traumas they have a sense of justice to make things safe and right in their hometown.
I really enjoyed getting to know Tilly and Kate in this book – they were well written characters and kept me reading on to find out how they were going to handle the situations they both found themselves in. I was rooting for healing and justice for them both. I am definitely going to read book 1 and keep my eyes out for book 3.

This is book 2 in A Legacy of Silence series. I haven’t read the first book but I was still able to enjoy this book and follow the story easily enough. However I will be going back to read the first book as I want to completely know these characters stories. This is a very intense read and is gripping right from the beginning I couldn’t put it down once I started.
The two female characters have gone through a lot but they continue to fight everyday to save women like them and help stop anymore from suffering. However they are getting involved in some dangerous situations and uncovering things that people don’t want uncovered.
This once again puts Katie and Tilly in danger but also endangers the people they are trying to help and save.
Katie is trying to rebuild her life by doing what she loves which is helping women who have been through the trauma she has. However while she is helping these people she also starts to uncover things she is not supposed to know which then puts her in danger.
Tilly on the other hand is moving forward with her life until tragedy strikes and sends her on a downward spiral that could end up costing her her life.

This story is very intense and an amazing read. You can’t help but get dragged into their life’s and you feel like you are fighting along side them. There is elements of danger and twists and turns which keeps the reader gripped and turning the pages. I can’t wait to read more.

The Divine Devils….the kind of guys you definitely want on your side because they are not what you’d expect them to be!! I really wasn’t sure what I was getting into when I picked up this book to read but I sure had a hard time putting it down once I got started!! Action packed from the get-go, Hunter is trying his best to clear his name in a previous incident when the Divine Devils are called back together for a new case. This one involves a very wealthy actress trying to get the extortionists off her back and her out of the lime-lime for nefarious reasons.
I’m going to have to go back and read the first book of this series just to “catch up” with more of the back stories of these characters and because if the first book is as good as this one, well, I just need to read it.

In this follow up to Complicit (which, in full disclosure, I have not yet read), Kate and Tilly are even more determined to do right for their communities. Tilly has found a new position as a SANE nurse and she and Jim have found a new place to live. Kate is working on a her fortress to house girls who are needing a place to escape the evilness they are being lured into.

This book is very fast paced, edge-of-your-seat kinda read. Just what I enjoy!! There are questions yet to be answered and I can’t wait to read more of this story! I look forward to finding out answers to some of these burning questions in my mind and I will also be reading the first book to get more context for this one. I don’t feel that it’s necessary to grasp this story….this is a great stand-alone if needed. I’m just curious as to how some things came together.

Is your stumble and fall going to lead you to great places???

An Inheritance To Die For (Cozy Mysteries To Die For, #4)An Inheritance To Die For by Judy Moore
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I found this to be an entertaining cozy mystery. Beck is a bookstore owner/new private investigator. Her old college roommate hires her to investigate her father’s murder. The cast of characters is quirky, suspicious and very mysterious. Everybody has a motive and Beck will figure out who did it. The drama, adventure, and humor will have you reading this in one sitting. I would definitely recommend this.

I was really excited to read the next book in this series and it definitely lived up to my expectations. The book is well written and exciting to read, full of mystery and suspense. I really enjoyed getting to know more about the characters and seeing how they had developed over the two books.
I thought the author has done a great job of adding to this series. If the rest of it is anything like the first two books then it is certainly going to be a great one.

Stumble & Fall is the second book in A Legacy of Silence series by Amy Rivers. It is an intense and gripping story- a suspenseful psychological thriller with crime and investigation, tension, danger, dramatic developments, action, mystery, tragedy, a quest for justice, challenges, family dynamics, and emotion.
This book follows up Complicit (Book #1), which I hadn’t read going into this story, but luckily this was able to be read as a standalone. But I would like to know more about the backstory of Kate and Tilly, and the events that occurred in Book One, so I will be going back to read that book asap to discover what happened there.
The story pulled me in right from the beginning and held me in its grip the whole way through to the end. I thought the author did a fantastic job of building the tension and suspense, while weaving lots of dramatic and intriguing elements, cleverly, throughout the plot.
These characters were really well-developed individuals with their own unique personalities, quirks, and flaws. They were both damaged from past events, but still had the strength to start over and face new challenges, and dangers, head on. I quickly found myself investing in them and the outcome of the story.
The ending leaves a couple of threads that will lead us into Book Three. Can’t wait!
Happy Reading!

Thank you, Amy Rivers.

Fallen Star is the second book in The Divine Devils series by R. Weir. It is another well-developed crime thriller- following along with Hunter Devine and his crew as they investigate what appears to be a fairly straight-forward blackmail plot- but things aren’t quite so simple and take a sinister turn as they get tangled in a deadly web of murder, drugs, prostitution, and perilous danger.
What happens makes for a gripping read with plenty to keep you glued to the pages- mystery, suspense, agendas, investigation, intrigue, tension, violence, danger, plots, action, and lots of dramatic developments.
Unputdownable!
Bring on Book #3!
Happy Reading!

Thank you, Mr. Weir!

This author amazes me in all that they create and write. I can never get enough, and feel complete satisfaction with their writing skills and style, as well as the creativity behind the story and characters.

The characters alone made this book a must read. I loved how each character was different, yet was critical as an addition to the story. No character was just to pass time, they were needed and added to the story in different ways. I loved how real they all were, there were no cupcakes and sugar plums with them, you got what you got. The story was action packed, and full of intrigue. The suspense made me want to keep reading, and find out what would develop. The dark essence of the novel kept me holding tight as I read. The book was amazing, when I finished it, I kept thinking about it. Well done to this author! Loved it!

This author is always a must read in my books. This book is no different. The first book was gripping. and this one held its own as well. Highly recommend this book/series/author! A must read for sure!

This complex plot takes you into the bowels of darkness is full of danger and mystery, suspense and intrigue, action and violence, murder and mayhem.

This intense and thrilling tale draws the reader in and fully invested in the outcome and the characters. R Weir’s gift is definitely in this genre and I am glad to have come across his books.

Former US Marshall Hunter Divine and team are back. He makes no apologies for who he is but there is one thing you can count on and that is he will always get the job done. He is a complex and flawed man who has more baggage than a department store.

This case may help him personally and he will not walk away empty handed.

Beware once you start you will not be able to put it down. Bring on more!

Dang, Hunter Devine is one of the hottest former U.S. Marshalls out there. This author has written one of the best series I have come across yet and I have been so excited to read this book, the second in this series. Hunter Devine is a man of action, yet has a conscience to keep him honest. These characters are so real that you feel like you are right there. The action keeps you turning the page. You just have to know what’s coming next. The story just grabbed you. I was glued from page one. I’ve not often come across ebooks that keep me glued to my phone but this author does. The action and drama are just nonstop. There is nothing I don’t love. Denver and the Front Range are my old stomping grounds so it’s also fun to try to look for places I may know in his writing as I go along. Who needs James Bond? Hunter Devine and his team are my favorite agents.

What a trip! This is my first read by this author and it was fantastic.

I have been going on and on about this book for the last couple days while reading it. This action-packed thriller sucks the reader in and has you turning the pages until the very end. I was on the edge of my seat from the first chapter with my jaw-dropped. This one keeps the foot on the gas all the way through.

The author did an amazing job creating tension and developing the story. I enjoyed that each chapter flows well into the next despite each chapter generally changing the point of view from which the story is told. It is told from the narration of multiple characters, with most being told from the perspective of the main survivor, Angie, Agent Brenda Reynolds, and Jake. It was incredibly unique, however, to also have chapters told from the perspective of other supporting characters, as well as the “bad guys.” I loved the chemistry among the main characters and hope there are more stories to come!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is book 8 in a series. I had not read the previous ones, and I was able to follow along. There were a lot of characters which would have been less confusing had I read previous stories. Overall the story captured my attention and was a great suspense and mystery. I had several guesses on who the murderer was, but ultimately I just wasn’t sure until it was revealed at the end. I loved the action in later parts of the book as well as discovering the mysteries. Great book, and I enjoyed it!

In Plain Sight (Logan McKenna Mystery Series Book 8) by Valerie Davisson – Review by Christen Ware

In Plain Sight: A Logan McKenna Mystery Book 8In Plain Sight: A Logan McKenna Mystery Book 8 by Valerie Davisson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

For me, this was read as a stand-alone, and the author is a new addition to my list. This book follows the twist and intertwined stories as Logan, freshly moved and married, finds a coworker dead, and ends up engrossed with the case. Her peaceful world is quickly crumbled, as secrets are revealed, and her volunteer job at the raptor rehabilitation becomes more than she could ever imagine.

Overall, a good murder mystery, and it was very easy for me to feel engrossed in this book. I felt more in the scenes rather than just being a reader and witness. I will happily start from the beginning and have added the other installments to this series on my TBR.
