The Detail by Dana Wayne – Review by Lauren Cox

The DetailThe Detail by Dana Wayne
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Detail is the perfect amount of suspense and romance, not only does Dana captivate you with this suspenseful thriller she also gives sexual tension. This book is a quick read but definitely a page turner.

Jessica is trying everything she can to track down this killer, with the help of her very attractive partner Seth. Right when they were going to confront their attraction for each other Jessica goes missing as well as Seth’s prisoner “the killer”.

I really liked this mixture of the two book genres coming together, more often than not romance and suspense thriller don’t collide like this and I enjoyed it.

Murder Creek (Eve Sawyer Mystery, #1)Murder Creek by Jane Suen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I listened to this via audiobook. Around three hours of listening time, this is a great audiobook. The length is perfect for a day of listening while puttering around the house on summer break. The narrator does amazing character voices! A twenty-year-old crime set against a backdrop of historical tragedy, listeners are drawn into a mystery. I was not expecting the book to wrap up the way it did, so I was pleasantly surprised with the ending.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the first book in the First Coast Thriller series. It is a great start to the series. This book is definately one that will keep a reader gripped and on the edge of their seat from start to finish. I loved it. I literally couldn’t put it down and the pace was fast enough that it kept me engaged without missing any details or depth.

This books is a crime Thriller and has so many twists and turns at the reader cannot be sure of what to expect or what the outcome can be. When you mix cartel boats and investigations with the FBI you just know that things are going to be pretty or plain sailing and lives will be on the line.

Our main character Clayton has had a rough time of things. He was part of JSO but he gambling addiction got the best of him and now he’s a repo man. All he wants is to get back into law enforcement and make his family proud.
When he is offered that change he grabs for it however it comes at a cost and that cost is crossing dangerous people and putting the family and friends he loves into harms way.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Detail is a delightful tension filled quick page turner! Dana has cleverly woven threads to give the reader a complex and drama filled thriller. The intrigue, fear and suspense are palpable. The story is well-written and the plot is clear-cut. The story is a little predictable but I was thoroughly engrossed and invested in it.

The characters have substance are believable you will fall in love with them, well most of them. It is so easy to get caught up in this story to the point of not hearing your husband when he is talking to you. Oops.

Detective Jessica Foster is hunting a ruthless killer and will stop at nothing to get them but it may just get her in a whole lot of trouble if not worse, killed…….

Detective Seth Hamilton has lost his prisoner a ruthless killer hellbent on revenge for his partner who is missing. Things turn deadly and he fears but he hopes against hope he will see her again.

Dana Wayne is a new author to me, and I really enjoyed her writing so I will definitely be reading more of her work.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This story was nothing like I imagined it to be. It hurt and hit in all the right places for me to fall in love with every element. Andy and Stephen more than pull at your heart strings with all that must be endured, and the fight for love and family.. Stella being in the mix just added that right feel in as well. Such a sweet and perfect little girl that gave Andy and Stephen more meaning in their lives. This was more than just a love story. It was a run against the clock to find a serial killer, a plea to save a marriage and a look into a world where sometimes you need more than just love and faith. It was gritty, emotional, intense, suspenseful, and unforgettable. This is an author I will be reading again, and soon.

Murder Creek (Audio Book) by Jane Suen – Review by Robin Rankin

Here’s what I thought of Murder Creek by Jane Suen:

I gave it 4/5 stars.

Riveting

Murder Creek (Eve Sawyer Mystery Book 1)

This book went by way too fast though I didn’t realize it at the time.  I have listened to a lot of audiobooks, especially over the last 2 1/2 years working from home, there have been a few that have drawn me in like this but not many.  I was caught up in the story immediately and had a hard time pausing it when I got calls for work.

Marni Penning’s voice was just perfect and only helped draw me in further. I will definitely look for more books narrated by her.

Eve’s curiosity about Murder Creek and in turn what happened to Lacey all those years ago.  She doesn’t give up until she has answers and some of these answers are where she least expected them to be.

I’m looking forward to the the next book and what gets into next.

Murder Creek (Audio Book) by Jane Suen – Review by Emily H

College student Eve Sawyer is needing to finish a paper for her journalism class, but her heart is not in it. Eve stumbles upon Murder Creek, a place with a haunting history and a more recent incident. The disappearance of Lacey Walken twenty years ago. Eve makes a pitch to her instructor to change her paper and he agrees sending Eve to Murder Creek to see if she can provide any insight as to what happened. Will she uncover who was involved or why Lacey disappeared?

I listened to the audiobook version and was pulled in right away. You get to know the towns people and what happened leading up to Lacey’s disappearance. The pacing of the story is good and I would definitely check out the next book in the series.

Multi-awarding winning author Dana Wayne is a sixth-generation Texan and still resides in the Piney Woods. A sought-after speaker and die-hard romantic, her stories are filled with strong women, second chances, and happily ever after.

“I’ve had a love affair with words my whole life and from an early age, aspired to write. That dream became a reality with the release of my first book in the summer of 2016. I was over the moon when it received first place in a state-wide contest, and I never looked back.

“I’m all about the romance; that excursion two people take from ‘I’ll never love again’ to ‘Happily Ever After’. My stories are very character-driven versus plot-driven and typically include a splash of humor and suspense. While they are a bit steamy at times, I believe true romance is about emotion, not sex, and the journey is more important than the destination. “

I squealed so hard when I saw this book had released!! I FLOVE this series so much- so it was a given that I would rush to one-click a copy to dive into. I always look forward to my time between Teresa Sederholt’s covers because she is such an amazing storyteller and always leaves me completely satisfied! And let me tell you, this book might just be her best yet!!!
I’m Not Your Difference is the fourth book in the Fitz Series by Theresa Sederholt. It is such a fantastic story with all the ingredients that I look for in a riveting read. With crime, suspense, a serial killer on the loose, danger, violence, romance, some spice, dramatic developments, mystery, murder, intrigue, and plenty of emotion – made for quite a thrilling reading experience.
This story could probably be read as a standalone- but why would you want to, knowing that there are 3 other amazing books in the series that are not only page-turners themselves, but also help to lay down some of the framework and foundation for the series, provide character introductions (as there are several intriguing recurring characters), and impart important backstory…. All of which will ensure that you get the best reading experience, not only of this book, but the overall series as well.
I loved Andy from the moment I met back in Book One- along with Stephen, they really rounded out the cast and brought something special to the series- adding Stella to the mix only made things better. Fitz, I adore- can’t get enough of him. I also love and appreciate the dynamic that these characters have together, throughout the series. So, reading this book and what had happened between Andy and Stephen was quite heart-wrenching at times. Ms. Sederholt certainly played a fine tune with my emotions through this story, that’s for sure. Add in a deranged serial killer who is targeting gay men, placing a target on our favourite MM’s, danger, tension, heart-stopping developments, and plenty of thrills…. really made for a wonderfully gripping read.
Again, as I have said repeatedly in the past, I am in awe of Ms. Sederholt’s creative abilities, and how she manages to produce such incredibly well written stories, every time, and making it all seem so effortless. This is one of my all-time favourite series, from an incredibly talented author who should be on everybody’s must-read list!
Can’t wait for more!!!
Happy Reading!

Thank you, Theresa Sederholt!

This is the first book that I have read from this author and I loved every minute of it. This is the first book in the First Coast Thriller Series and it was amazing. The author’s writing is very unique to them and how they’d portrayed to plot and the characters was phenomenal.
Ex-cop Clayton Conway has made some mistakes.
He’s trying to work hard with a repo company, hooking cars and boats. Raise his daughter and stay friendly with his ex-wife. Make enough money to pay the rent on his tiny apartment over a bar in Jacksonville Beach.
But when one of the Orenato Cartel’s speedboats gets repossessed, they come looking for it.
Putting Clayton, his family and friends, in danger.
I’m excited to see how this author continues this series in the near future.

I found the narration quite a entertaining addition to the story. She adds attitude and personality to the characters. The story rocks. Strong female sleuth figures out the mystery.   She is up against a town trying to hide the secret of who killed a woman 20 years prior. This was a delightful mystery that had pitfalls and twists at the best spots. Every time I’m thinking I figured it out, here came a curve. I love cozy mysteries because of the humor while you are solving them. I would recommend this to all my cozy mystery fans out there.

I’m Not Your Difference is the fourth book in the Fitz Series and I absolutely loved reading it. I’m a huge fan of this author and her style of writing along with amazing characters make for a amazing story. This is a story that is intended for 18 + mature readers due to some Violence and Sexual Content. I recommend reading the first three books if you haven’t already as they are just as good as this one us you get back story and learn about the characters. I loved this book and had moments of heartbreak and I was a bit emotional at times. This is a wonderfully written story that is packed with m action, suspense , suspense and a serial killer. I loved that its written in more than one POV. This is a story about Andy and Stephen.. Andy is heart broken over Stephen leaving because he couldn’t handle Stella and her being deaf. Andy figures out a way to deal with all the things and then Stephen realizes he made a mistake. He’s determined to get Abdy and his family back. In the midst of everything going on there’s a serial killer preying on gay men. No worries Fitz is on the case and he’s not going to let them out of his sights. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I look forward to reading more from this Author.

Murder Creek (Audio Book) by Jane Suen – Review by Kerry Baker

It has been quite a while since I read this book so when I saw the audio version I thought it would be a great way to go through a re-read. I thought the narrator did a great job. I was completely pulled into the story and, although I knew what was going to happen, I still felt the mystery and the intrigue. I was lost in the story from the moment I started listening. I think it works well as a short book, I could fit this story in easily to a hectic schedule.

This is an author that I really enjoy and I think the books translate well to audio. I really enjoyed getting into this book and I will definitely be listening to more.

This is book 4 in Fitz series. I think if you read them from the beginning it will give you a better understanding of the characters and their stories. I haven’t read them in order. It didn’t take anything away from my enjoyment of the story though but I will be going back and reading from the beginning.

This book has it all and deal with some very sensitive subjects, the main one being sexuality and how some people are targeted because of that. The author does this in a way that is respectful and informative which really brings the story to life.
It is full of emotions from happiness and sadness, love and betrayal, danger but underneath it all is family love.
Andy has really got a struggle on his hands. His partner recently left after he couldn’t cope with Andy’s diagnoses of Parkinsons. Leaving Andy to cope on his own with his illness but also their adopted deaf daughter.
Heartbroken Andy pushes forwards always trying to do what’s right for them both.
Just when Andy feels he’s back on track Stephen returns and wants to give it another go. Can he be trusted after last time? Should Andy let him back in or will he end up being hurt all over again.
Add to this drama the fact that there is a serial killer on the loose that is targeting gay men and Andy is in more danger than just getting his heart broken.
Fitz is Andy’s brother in law and he’s a detective. When he is handed the case of numerous men who have passed supposedly at their own hands he realises something isn’t right and its a race against to to stop the killer and potentially save Andy from becoming a victim.

I thoroughly enjoyed this gripping crime thriller, which had me hooked from start to finish. The main character, Clayton Conway is an ex-cop who has made some mistakes and is now working at a repo company. Clayton is concentrating on raising his daughter and keeping friendly with her mother, his ex-wife. He’s renting a small apartment over a bar in Jacksonville Beach, and is happy if he makes enough money to pay his rent. Clayton realises that it’s not just him who’s in danger but also his family and friends, and he’s determined to protect them, as long as his own weaknesses don’t get the better of him, again. Full of drama and suspense this was an entertaining and engaging read, with a great main character in Clayton, who’s both likeable and relatable, whilst also being realistic. I found it hard to put this book down once I had started it and I am now looking forward to the next book in the series.

Clayton is trying to get his life back on track after a gambling addiction cost him his job and family. He wants to repair things with his ex wife and daughter, but it’s going to be a long road to setting things right.
He misses police work, but he’s found some solace in doing repo work for Jimmy, who seems most interested in living his life in Jimmy buffet style. But, Jimmy takes in his crew like family, and Clayton just needs to learn to get out of his own head. When one of his coworkers gets abducted, Clayton joins the crew in finding him and getting to the bottom of what’s really going on.
Meanwhile, his damaged relationships with his womanizing father and elusive sister, who seems to find trouble everywhere she goes, throws a more personal wrench into Clayton’s problems.
Explosive action, an FBI investigation, and Jimmy’s knack for getting under a local cop’s skin make for page-turning excitement, laughter, and adventure. I loved the characters in this book, their varying quirks and personalities, and truly enjoyed the story line. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!

Fitz has his hand full with this one. The kids are having issues. Andy is talking to Stephen, who is having issues. He has a case to solve. MJ is his rock and partner during it. He is turning into a “dog with the bone.” He is going to solve these problems and work all these puzzles out. There is drama. suspense, mystery, with a dash of romance and intrigue. The storyline pulls you right in. You are going to not want to stop reading. MJ, Andy, Gail and everyone else are so great to work with. They are so realistic that they could people you know. There are plot twist that will get you every time you think you know who did it. What an original series and such a wonderful read. I’m looking forward to more from this author. Highly recommend. Wow!!!! This has to be my favorite of the Fitz series yet. He has become a P.I. now and is on his own at an agency. Gail has brought him a case from her friend. This case involves a sudden death, mysterious numbers and many secrets. Again, so well-written that the plot with several plot lines and plot twists tie together so smooth that there are no glitches. The characters bitch and fight like they could be your friends. The book is written in a casual tone that it feels good to read. I can feel emotions come off the page. Fitz and his friends and family are pretty amazing at solving these cases. Gail describes Fitz as a ”dog with a bone.” Yep, I would agree. He will find out what’s going on. This is a new author to me and I’m loving this series.
