Silent Innocence (Fitz Series Book 2) by Theresa Sederholt – Review by Shelly Kittell

Silent Innocence (Fitz, #2)Silent Innocence by Theresa Sederholt
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Intense! Thrilling! This is one of those books you find yourself holding your breath while you’re reading it. Fitz has his hands full this time. He’s supposed to be on a 3-month vacation but gets called in to consult on a case. Well, we all know how that usually ends up. He gets enmeshed in a high-profile case. Little Stella becomes a very important person to him as he tries to unravel this case. The intensity of this case has you wanting to keep turning one more page to find out what’s next. Who did it? I love the plot twists? Oh yeah, and MJ is due with the baby soon, so that’s on his mind during this. Man, his plate is overflowing. Another well-writing knockout story that I loved. The story pulled me in right from the start. The characters are like your friends. They just feel like buddies. The whole tone of the book has a casual feel (for a romantic suspense). It’s perfect and a wonderful book.

Uniquely Mine (Fitz Series Book 1) by Theresa Sederholt – Review by Shelly Kittell

Uniquely Mine (Fitz, #1)Uniquely Mine by Theresa Sederholt
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What an amazing story! Fitz is an incredible detective hunting down a twisted killer. He is trying to protect MJ, his childhood friend. She is the owner of a BDSM agency that is being targeted. The romance and suspense are intense and full of intrigue. This killer is a sick monster that wants to be caught and is teasing Fitz. The characters are so well=developed that you can honestly feel the emotions coming off them as they are trying to protect MJ and find the sick killer. All MJ wants is to protect her clients and her job. You can feel the pull between the antagonist and the protagonist. I was pulled in right from the start and couldn’t stop until the end. I finished this one in a day. The plot had a good flow and a few plot twists thrown in made it outstanding. What a great book! Romantic suspense lovers will love it.

Murder Creek (Audio Book) by Jane Suen – Review by Amanda Glaspie

This was a fun quick mystery. Eve who felt a strong connection to Murder Creek immediately knows that she needs to look into an unsolved murder for her journalism class. I loved that this was an easy listen but was able to get touch on important little details. The ending was sad but perfect. Definitely worth listening to.

Shake Down (First Coast Thriller Series)Shake Down by Armand Rosamilia
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Armand Rosamilia is a new author to me so I was unsure what to expect. He is known to have eclectic tastes in writing and not confined to one genre. His books include crime thrillers, supernatural thrillers, horror, zombies, contemporary fiction, nonfiction and more.

Shake Down is an interesting thriller mystery that is a little fun, a lot suspenseful and well-written with a good storyline. There is action, murder, mayhem, with intrigue making it an enjoyable read.

Armand weaves a thrilling tale in this new series that is unique with well-developed strong characters. The plot is well thought out keeping the reader interested in the outcome.

I’m looking forward to seeing what comes next.

I'm Not Your Difference (Fitz, #4)I’m Not Your Difference by Theresa Sederholt
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

For 18+ Mature readers as there is violence and sexual content.

I’m Not Your Difference is the fourth book in the wonderful series. Theresa never fails to deliver a story that leaves you wanting more. Make sure to read the previous books in the series before starting this one. It is an amazing story that is full of mystery and intrigue and is as thrilling as it is suspenseful.

This is my favourite from Theresa to date.

There is everything you could want in a good story, danger, murder and a serial killer. This is a very emotionally charged story with passion, love and heartbreak, danger and fear, sadness and redemption, betrayal and hurt, and so many other emotions. The story is written in different points of view which I love and gives the story and the characters more depth. The characters are well written and you will fall in love with them.

I can’t wait to see what Theresa has in store for us next.

This book was a freaking well written fantastic adventure! I was hooked from the character introductions. The characters were connectable, and the action was tense and a good build up!

The book gave so much. I felt I was right there with everything that was going on. From figuring out characters whom to trust, and whom you knew you could a first glance, and when it comes down to it, you would sacrifice everything for those you love. Amazing writing. I could not put it down. It kept me interested till the final word on the final page. Loved it! Really exciting read and a fulfilling time!

I was hooked, no questions asked. The writing was good and kept you holding on till everything came together. I am so glad I came across this book! Highly recommend this book and author!

This is my first book by this author which I enjoyed from beginning to end. This is the first book in this series and what a great start it is. I look forward to reading more in this series in the future. This is a well written story where the characters bring the twists and turns to a new level. A story that is full of action and suspense. It has great growth throughout the story as well. I found this story to be fast paced and hard to put down. An engaging story that had me coming back for more. A story about an ex-cop who now does repo and has repossessed the wrong boat. Now the cartel is after what was taken from them. I really enjoyed how the author used details to make the characters relatable and supportive. They made the story feel realistic, as if you were right there with them. This is an easy and entertaining story to read. I really enjoyed reading this story. I highly recommend this story.

This is an intense, adventure story. You are sucked in straight from the beginning. Well-written with the tone of a true Floridian spy novel, the characters all seem to have secrets they are hiding. The main plot has twists and turns that have you questioning as you think you know who did it. Clayton is a protagonist just trying to figure out the right thing to do for his daughter. Everywhere he turns are antagonists. This is an excellent story with the suspense, a shot at romance, thriller, and adventure. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I think adventure lovers out there will love it too.

The Last Lie Told (Finley O’Sullivan Series Book 1) by Debra Webb – Review by Colleen Noyes

The Last Lie Told (Finley O’Sullivan #1)The Last Lie Told by Debra Webb
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Holy YES PLEASE! I got this book early as part of the Kindle first program. It is set in Nashville, Tennessee one of my favorite places. Right from the beginning you can sense the mystery, suspense, and secrets. This book had me hooked from page one and never let go. The character of Finley is a very complex character that I appreciate tremendously. There are so many facets to her you’re not sure what is what or who she really is until you dive deeper into the story.

This story has many layers of suspense not just on the case Finley and Jack are working, but with Finley, her past, and her husband. The intrigue as you turn each page grows and you find yourself on the edge of your seat unable to stop turning pages.

The last chapter of this book was so amazing with more twists and turns than you ever saw coming. I cannot wait to see what happens or what is discovered regarding Finley and Derrick. This was my first book by Debra Webb and now I must go buy more!

Murder Creek (Audio Book) by Jane Suen – Review by Dr. Anya Schultz

Murder Creek is a story about a college student named Eve, who is working on a term paper. She states that she always gets weird feelings about different events in time, like murder. She ended up feeling something eerie at Murder Creek. This feeling was so strong she started to research the history of Murder Creek and became curious about the disappearance of a young teen girl named Lacey. This brought her to visit Murder Creek and start to investigate this unsolved case. Much of the town was very quiet about this story, but Eve’s determination started to open people up to giving some answers. I enjoyed this book. As someone who loves to solve puzzles, I had fun trying to figure out where the story was going to take me. There are many characters that play a part in this book so I would say pay attention. Also I liked how with new information I was finding myself revamping my theory. While I did not fall in love with any of the characters, they all played a good role. I enjoyed the story line and it was a quick read.

I am officially a Kells fan! It was so wonderful to see all the boys join forces! The main heroine this time, however, is so unique! She has strong responsibilities that keep her away from our strong, wounded cop, but all she does is ignite his protective instincts! And the epilogue?! I just can’t wait for the next one!

Premeditated: Betrayal of Trust
By Susanna Haymond
5*

This is a page turning suspense that I really had a hard time putting down. In this story, anti-drug activists are being found overdosed or nearly overdosed on kronilian. The perpetrators are working to take down people who are not only drug activists but people who work closely with the DEA. This makes this case even more urgent.
As the agents, Grant and Josh are working hard to determine who might want to take down these anti-drug activists. They find themselves enlisting the help of a former DEA agent who now works for the FBI. When a very close friend of Grant and Josh finds themselves dosed with the kronilian and needing to be in protective custody, they find they have to ask their new partner for help. But what happens when it seems that there is a leak within the agents. Who can they trust? Will they be able to stop these perpetrators?
This book was very well written and definitely kept me guessing until the end. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys suspense novels.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The death of a drug rehab director, the addiction of Anne, and many others that was not caused by their own choosing. How does one become so addicted to a controlled substance without one’s knowledge? That is a great question and one that eventually gets answered in the book PREMEDITATED. There are so many well written characters in the book and each one is so real that the book feels very authentic. This book was a page turner from the very beginning until the last word! It was fun to follow along and try to decipher who the person is that is behind the addictions, murders, and attempted murders. You will not be disappointed! There are a lot of great twists and turns and at the end I was surprised at the person behind the plot! Great read, exceptional characters, and a great Christian read that I thoroughly enjoyed!

PREMEDITATED: A Trust Betrayed, Lives Sabotaged, A Love Undaunted (Agents of Justice Book 2) by Susanna Haymond – Review by Tia Martel

PremeditatedPremeditated by Susanna Haymond
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Who do you turn to when everything you believe in is being attacked?

Someone is after the people trying to get the drugs off the street and anyone who might stand in their way. When one incident turns into a string of possibly drug-related crimes, it’s up to the DEA to find out who is giving out this much Kronilan. As they work to clear the streets, they find their friends under attack and now it’s gotten personal.

It’s a race against time and distribution to see if the DEA can stop the Kronilan before everything falls apart.

I don’t typically go for the religious romance genre, but decided to give this book a shot because I love a good romantic suspense. While it wasn’t 100% something I’d choose, it was enjoyable as a whole. Despite some errors with character names and time discrepancies, the plot and building of the storyline were well thought out and enjoyable. This was my first book by this author, so I’m curious if book 1 would have answered some of my questions while reading.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I felt that the twists in the ending were well done, and I definitely didn’t see it coming. I’d definitely be willing to check out more from this series.

I enjoyed the cleanness of this book. It wasn’t filled with curse words or with sex which was refreshing. For the most part, the story followed Anne Sherril. Anne is an activist fighting against drugs. Then she herself is injected with drugs against her will, and she becomes addicted. The story follows her battle against the addiction, as well as law enforcement racing to find who is changing medicine out for drugs. Overall, it was a good suspenseful mystery. I loved the reminders about not being given up on and not giving up on yourself. I never saw the twist at the end! Great book!

Anne is a strong voice to end drugs on the street and educate kids on a better way and give them better options in life. Someone is trying to destroy all her work.
However when she ends up at the doctor feeling unwell and reccomended for b12 shots her world is turned upside down with sabotage and secrets.
Josh and Grant, DEA agents have been working a case for months in this same community. Grant has personal ties with Anne and they are close friends so when she’s dragged into the case they are working it’s personal.
This book had a stunning end you just don’t see coming. I generally predict endings long before they happen and this one left my jaw hanging open. Highly reccomended!

Anne, who is attempting to rid the streets of drugs gets entangled with the very drug she is trying to get off the streets. When it becomes personal for Grant he will do everything to put the mastermind behind bars.

The street drug “Kronilan” is over running the streets, so much so that the FBI and DEA have agents in place. DEA agents Grant Rourke and Josh McKenzie are working to try to solve the mystery of where its coming from and who is at the root of distribution. This drug has also led to members of the community trying to help users realize they have other options. Soon these advocates start displaying signs of being users themselves, some with deadly consequences.
Anne is one such advocate, the fiancee of an ex- DEA agent, an agent who use to partner one of the agents in charge, Rourke, making the case even more personal. Will Anne get the help she needs? Will Grant and Josh solve the case before more people or injured or worse?

This is the first book by Hammond that I picked up and I have to say it is worth the read. The characters were well developed. The story line was easy to follow, flowed well, and pulled you into the story. The story was also very realistic and believable. I truly enjoyed the book and can’t wait to see what comes next from Haymond.

Enthralling thriller
This book takes you on a roller coaster of events and keeps you guessing right til the very end. Took me by surprise. The writing is good and I was quickly drawn into the story. PremeditatedPremeditated by Susanna Haymond

4 stars

Partially a novel about “who dun it” and partially a novel about “who is ___ really?” I have to say I was NOT expecting the outcome.

Enjoyed this semi-murder mystery novel. A highly addictive street drug is being fought against by pillars in the community, and when those pillars start showing symptoms of having taken the drug, or even dying because of it, the authorities have to wonder why and how. When the DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) and the FBI get involved they will get to the bottom of who is knocking those pillars down, sometimes to six feet under.

I had to demote my rating to 4 stars because the novel is written in third person and it was sometimes hard for me to follow who it was talking about when the internal thoughts or feeling arose.

I did like that we got to see a few “main characters” throughout the novel, such as Anne, Ashley, Josh, Grant, and more. Each character had their specialty which brought more information to the table to help figure out the who and why of the crimes.

The novel certainly lives up to its name, with the perpetrator meaning to hurt certain people for their own gain. Also lives up to it’s description of being a Christian suspense, with statements like “praise God” or “it’s God’s will” at times, and the book starting with two bible passages, but it’s not overwhelming so someone not of the Christian faith can also enjoy the book.

There is some explicitness in the novel, such as shootouts and descriptions of overdosing, as well as murder, but I found those scenes to be well done and didn’t find it overly graphic.

CW: murder, overdose, drug use, kidnapping, assault, gun use.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Lord Hani returns and has been enjoying his role as a scribe working from his home, rather than going on long trips away like when he was a foreign diplomat, however, he has had a tumultuous few years doing it and although he has tried, he hasn’t had the easiest time keeping his feelings towards the King’s regime private, however, when he is summoned to his superiors office, he has a feeling that things are about to get dangerous again. The meeting goes in a different direction than he expected though when he is told he has a new assignment in Kumidi, but he also receives the news that the King Akhenaten wants to honour him with a title and a promotion, Lord Hani is speechless and so just about manages to accept his assignment and give his thanks for the notification of his new honours and status. When he returns home to spread the news, it is received in good spirits, although, it is also accepted with apprehension because of the past few years and how the change of regime has affected his family and friends, however, when the day comes, they all rally round to congratulate him and celebrate.

It is not long after this that he heads north to make a start on his assignment, he is hoping that it will be straight forward, however, when he receives news that there has been a murder of a foreign diplomat where he is being sent, that becomes the priority in his investigations as he doesn’t want to offend the other dignitaries and cause any more of a problem. When he arrives, he begins investigating immediately and interviews the commissioner who is based there, as well as the rest of the murdered diplomat’s party, he finds that the information given is not much and he gets even less from the servants, that is until a key piece of evidence is stumbled upon by accident.

This leads to Lord Hani finding that an event from his past is connected to this event in the present in the most bizarre and shocking way, so he has to somehow find justice for both, but will he be able to do this and keep his conscience in tact at the same time? This is another historical mystery which keeps you hooked throughout as past and present collide to reveal another tangled web of intrigue which has to be unravelled for the truth to be found and you will be carried along on the tide of the investigation until its conclusion as well.
