If you enjoy Dark, Paranormal, and Romance this is a great read for you. Even though it’s a quick read Sinister Styx has filled the pages with a tale of Greif, revenge, love, and the paranormal that keeps you flipping the pages.

Another great short story from Sinister Styx! I absolutely love her writing style and her ability to pull you in and make you feel for the characters in such a short amount of time. Rene and Belladonna’s story is traumatic, action-packed, spicy, and so much more. The way Styx is able to pull together a story in such a short amount of pages is nothing short of amazing. I read this in one sitting because I couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait to pick up the next piece of work from Styx!

This short story had me hooked from the first page, being a short book, I thought the story would be rush and everything will be jammed into it and then had a bad ending, but boy was I wrong on all of this. Even for a short read this story flowed very well and was very well written. The story line itself was well done and flowed very well that I never felt lost or didn’t understand what was going on. The characters were so amazingly done that it was hard not to relate or find yourself rooting for them. Rene had lost his siter and trying to cope he turns to substance, but then he starts hallucinating a woman. Belladonna has lived her life in a forest and everything she has been living for is not all that great, but then she finds Rene and it seems to her everything has changed. There was so much packed into this story there’s drama, magic, the supernatural, a dark romance, thrill and a murder mystery to be solved.

I read this book in just a few hours. I absolutely loved it. I think you will too. Sinister Styx is a very talented writer that will keep you on the edge of your seat, all the while wondering if René and Belladonna’s twisted relationship will develop into more.

I love how Master Descallia flows right into Master Tuscano but they could be read separate as well. It kept me captivated, on my toes the whole time and I wasn’t able to predict the outcome. I love the mischief and companionship between the characters as well. Would definitely recommend.

The Veil by Karli Rush was really good! When it started off, I actually forgot for a second what genre of book I was reading and was a little thrown when the invasion started! So, that was a fun little twist. The world building was really cool, the characters were really well written and very relatable. The ending was not what I expected to be. Still a HEA, but not in the way I was expecting. Really enjoyed and would def recommend.

This is a novella only for those over 18, with multiple trigger warnings which isn’t for the faint of heart.
A couple in love fall into traps of suspicion and deception and lose trust in each other, this causes a spiral into violence and blood, but will they be able to reconnect, or will the stones they throw break the glass house they are living in?
This is a dark romance with a sprinkling of fantasy as a couple spiral into darkness and try to find their way out.

Blood and Ravens: this was a really unique book. I loved the little bit of history behind the casket girls and was definitely a new viewpoint (for me at least!) on a vampire storyline. The characters were well written, good story line, a few twists that I didn’t see coming, and a HEA that didn’t feel cheesy. Set up nicely for a sequel without a huge cliffhanger, which I love. Will definitely check out the next one.

Master Tuscano by Sylvia Black

This is the second book in the series and it focuses on a different master and his mate. I love the characters and reading about their love story. I also love reading more about all the other masters and the drama and suspense in the vampire world.
I like that each book in the series focuses on one different master and his love interest while moving the story along so that all the books are tied together, and I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

What an incredible second installment of the Masters of the Consulate series! This was a wonderfully steamy read with the plot continuing from the first book. I do highly recommend reading these books in order as you may find yourself quite lost without the previous explanations. Delilah and Christian have an unexplainably strong chemistry that you can feel jumping right off the pages! Delilah is quite a strong FMC and I found her relatable. Christian wants to protect her and when push comes to shove, will he do the only thing he can to save her? I am truly excited to see where this series is going as I absolutely love the tropes and characters so far. If you’re looking for a paranormal romance that you can read in an afternoon, definitely pick this up! Don’t forget to get the first book in the series as well to get the full experience.

The Winemakers is a box set of 3 amazing books- While they could stand alone with enough backstory to explain the previous book, it reall would be better read in order. All 3 take place in Portugal.
The True Purpose of Vines follows a widowed winemaker (Julia) and a foreign Englishman (Griffin) who are thrown together, and cannot keep apart no matter how much they both feel they should. Even though it has a ‘hero saves the day’ theme at the end, Julie is independent and stubborn (both are, really) and I loved reading about her story. Happy endings and great historical tales weaved throughout.
A Taste of Light follows the ruthless Count Almoster, who we met in the first book. Though he played the role of the villain there, this book sheds more light on his tragic upbringing and history that lead to the jaded and wounded man he is today. Anne, Griffin’s sister is the heroine in this one, though they both end up saving each other. More happy endings.
The Truth About Myths surprised me. I really thought the 3rd would be about Almoster’s brother or cousin from the previous book; however, this tale follows Princess Isabel and notorious rake Count Henrique who are VERY reluctantly forced into a trip to Spain together. Of the 3, this one was my favorite. Political intrigue and scandal, of course a hefty amount of hesitant romance that leads both to find each other while also finding themselves and who they really are as individuals. The mystery and suspense in this book was, in my opinion, a lot more intense than the other two.
Overall, great stories! Amazing world building and historical accuracies, truly lovable and hatable characters, steamy romance but not to the point that it takes over the book and becomes the theme. Very well written, page turner and neatly wraps up the ending without leaving anything missing. I really can’t wait to see if there are more from this author and hope that Cris finds a happy ending as well!

Murder at Music Hall is Book one in the True North Murder Mystery Series. I love a good murder mystery every now and again, brings back memories of my grandmas murder mystery dinner themed parties she used to throw. Murder at Music hall was engaging, well-written, and had me hooked to the point that I had to get to the end to find out what really happened. I did feel, like some other readers, it was a bit wordy in some places which slowed the overall pace of the novel. I would still like to continue this series to see what else A. J. Ullman has in store for the reader.

Trueman “True” North is a private investigator in Cincinnati and his life and past experiences mean that he knows all about Death and even feels like they are just hovering and waiting for his luck to run out, but he is haunted and very much an outsider, however, when he is hired by one of the richest men in his town, he realises just how far outside he is.
St. John Skidmore is a business man with a need for justice for his son Stoddard who was brutally murdered at the Music Hall while practicing the timpani which he played for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and it was brutal but he believes that the wrong person was arrested and convicted, so he wants True to take a look and see what he can find.
As True gathers all the evidence, witness statements and court papers, he conducts his own interviews to find out what he can about Stoddard and his life in and around the music hall, all while trying to juggle his personal life in the process, but as he digs deeper into the case, he finds that the rich are a law unto themselves.
There are more skeletons hidden in the proverbial closets of family, friends, colleagues and rivals that True’s moral compass is spinning and between meddling sisters, jilted lovers, monetary incentives and threats galore, will True be able to hold onto his ideals and put the right person away, or will money win over truth? This is a murder mystery which is full of twists, turns, secrets and lies, where nothing is straight laced and money talks, or silences, depending on the situation as you follow along on this thrilling dig into the ghosts of the untouchable.

Murder At Music Hall is the first book in the True North Murder Mystery Series. This is a Dark Crime that is packed with action, murder, mystery, suspense and so much more. I’m a fan of this author and their style of writing along with great attention to detail and realistic, yet fully developed characters. They make the story come to life. I felt like I was apart of the story. This is a fast paced story that will have you turning the pages till the end. I literally read this in one afternoon because I had to know what was going to happen next. I highly recommend reading this book and I look forward to reading more from this Author.

Stoddard Skidmore has turned up dead and the culprit has already been caught. Or has he? His father doesn’t think so. St. John Skidmore enlists the help of former detective turned private investigator, Truman North, to find the real killer. Truman gathers as much information as he can from many sources to find out what the victims life was like while alive. We get hints along the way of who the true culprit may be. Many of the people interviewed have secrets so of course they don’t tell everything. There are many perks to living in the high society and Truman is learning that they will do anything to keep their secrets buried. The twists and turns will keep you turning the pages. The author did a great job keeping the reader engaged. If you like a good mystery I suggest giving this one a chance.

Intriguing, well-written mystery, though long-winded at times. I generally enjoyed this read and felt the author tied the story together well. There was plenty of intrigue and ultimately loved the way everything came together in the end. The author really pulls the reader in with the engaging writing style and with action right away.
Retired detective and curren private investigator Trueman North is a likable character, with a past, that will make a great cornerstone for this series. He is on the case to discover the killer of timpanist—even though someone is already in jail.
While the story was engaging and the main character is likable for a series starter, I did feel there were parts of the book that were wordy and read slowly and I found myself urging the story along. This isn’t overwhelmingly negative and could also be a reflection of just wanting to know what was going to happen next, but nonetheless I did feel it could be a bit more succinct in places.
Overall I recommend this as the plot and culmination of the story was very well done.

Trueman North is a former detective turned PI. His services have been paid for to investigate the murder of the son. One from a wealthy family, one with one of those last names.
The problem is certain people don’t want him re-opening the investigation. They want it left alone, pinned on the person who was found guilty and is currently serving time. Some of these people are the family members of the victim!
Will North uncover the truth? Will he come out of this investigation unscathed? This book will draw you in from the prologue and keep you guessing and wanting more, even after the final chapter is finished!

This was such an incredible start to this series, and I can’t wait to pick up the second book already! I love a good thrilling mystery read, so this was definitely up my alley. I really enjoyed the way the author is able to create a world you can disappear in without realizing it. I was on the edge of my seat the entire way through the book! I thought the flow of the story was magnificent and smooth, never finding myself pulled out by a misplaced sentence or abrupt change in the storyline. I don’t want to give anything away, but I was not expecting the twists and turns that occurred! I love the suspense and will be waiting on pins and needles for the next book to arrive. I highly recommend getting lost in this dark crime mystery for your weekend!

Murder at Music Hall is a dark murder mystery that will pull you in and keep you turning the pages. Trueman North is investigating an old murder case where someone was presumed to be wrongfully convicted. As the detective delves deeper into the crime, and the victim’s life, he finds things were not as perfect as they seemed originally. As secrets and pieces of information come to light, anyone can be a suspect. Who really killed the victim, and why? This was my first read from this author and while I did find some historically inaccurate things for the time period, it was not enough to pull me from the story. I will be reading more from the series and can’t wait to see where the next book takes us.

This is the first book in the True North Murder Mystery series. This story was an enjoyable murder mystery. The author does an amazing job with the details and fully immersing the reader into the investigation. The authors knowledge of police procedures and what goes into an investigation really brings the story to life for me.
Stoddard Skidmore, rich son of St John Skidmore has been found dead in a brutal attack. The man suspected for the crime has been arrested and charged however something isn’t right. The murder looks to personal to be a robbery gone wrong.
Trueman North, retired detective has been hired by St John to get to the bottom of what really happened to his son. It should be a simple case just look over the evidence and see what he can make of it.
However things don’t turn out that way. With meddling from St Johns daughter and his competitor North has his work cut out for him as he navigates and investigates the murder.
How he is going to deal with things when the people around him think they can buy their way out of trouble?
This is dark murder mystery which will use every bit of experience the detective has and more.
Is the man currently serving a jail sentence the murderer? Does it have anything to do with Stoddard at all or was he collateral damage? Was this something to do with Skidmore’s competitors or someone closer to home?
Will North uncover corruption that has put an innocent man behind bars?
I loved this story which was full of intrigue and twists and turns. I can’t wait to read more.

As an English teacher, I am thrilled to have read a book that used one of our vocabulary words from last week- kowtow. One character wonders what a character is holding over a third character, that makes the third character kowtow to the whims of the second character. Information is power, and sometimes power is used for nefarious purposes. As an amateur musician, I love the backdrop of the symphony orchestra. As a reader, I enjoy the thrill of the whodunit genre.

Its the story of retired detective Trueman North. He is now and PI and has turned his horrible past into helping people find justice. North has been hired by a man who thinks the wrong man has been accused of the murder of his son. He wants to right man to pay. As his investigation gets deep the secrets get deeper and the rich and snooty people are trying to hide more than they are helping him. North needs to prove that the guy they have isn’t the killer and find who is guilty. With so many obstacles in the way this may be one case that leaves him stumped. True is not used to being among such wealthy people and he is surprised by all their very dark secrets which are not helping in his investigation. Will he be able to prove that they have accused the wrong man. Read this fast paced thriller to find out!

Murder at Music Hall is a good start to a new series, which I intend to continue reading. It takes place in Ohio in the the 1960s, which I was kind of surprised by. It was well written and I was happy to not figure it out. We follow Trueman North, a retired homicide detective as he re-investigates a murder. There was someone convicted, but the victim’s father doesn’t believe he was the real killer. He hires True to investigate and we follow along as he digs up all the dirt. We expect the victim to be a high class upstanding citizen, since he is a member of the orchestra, and comes from a rich family. But as True investigates further, he uncovers a tainted history. There are a slew of people who may want him dead, but True is left to find the killer. The book had a good level of suspense that kept me engaged, and I look forward to more in the series.

I highly enjoyed following Trueman “True” North to find the true murderer of Stoddard Skidmore. As True digs into the case with his investigation skills he realizes that it isn’t quite as open and shut as it seems. Not only is there a compelling murder, but the reader also gets to learn more about True and his backstory as well. The book is set in 1977 with some embellishments in historical details, which the author explains at the end. It is a dark crime mystery; the pacing of the story is fantastic. The clues are there for you to find out the murderer before the reveal, but the reason why is even more compelling. I personally won’t hesitate to pick up the next book in this series!

Trueman North has channeled his tragic past into a determination to find justice for victims of murder. He is focused and diligent, never taking the easy way out. Now retired as a detective and working as a PI, North has been hired by a man who believes that the wrong person was accused of his son’s murder. Now North must find the real killer, and why they did it, as well as proving that the man who was accused is innocent.
As North seeks insights into the victim’s life and death from a variety of sources, we get drip fed bits of information that may or may not lead to the murderer. Many characters have secrets, but not all of their secrets are clues. Some of the secrets are quite dark and may be triggering to some readers.
This is an engrossing read for mystery fans who enjoy a story that will make them think. I particularly enjoyed the orchestral setting as it’s fun getting to see behind the scenes at the orchestra. It gets four stars from me!

Hired to by the family tonfind the true killer when the police have closed the case. If he succeeds, a grieving family will gain closure and an innocent man will be free. It was a good book setting up for what promises to be a enjoyable crime series.
