A.J. is an amazing mystery writer, and quickly becoming one of my favorites from this genre. This book will have you hooked with its abundance of twists and turns that will make you easily lose track of time! The amount of time and detail put into this book makes me so excited to read more of this series! Far from my first book from A.J., and he has never once disappointed! True North is a private detective who has been hired by an ultra rich man, Skidmore. True is investigating the untimely death of Skidmore’s son. Skidmore does not believe that the man who was convicted of the crime is guilty. This book had my attention from the very beginning. Book 1 is very good and I look forward to reading the next book in the True North Series!!!

This is an author that I have enjoyed reading from the first book I picked up by this author. This is the first book in a new series for this author and what a great start it is. I found this book to be well written where the author used details to make the characters realistic. A story that is full of suspense and mystery. A fast paced, hard to put down story that you don’t want to miss. I enjoyed how the characters pulled me into their world with ease. They kept my attention to the end. They are relatable and add so much to the story’s entertainment value. There is great growth of the plot and characters as well throughout which makes the story easy to read. I really enjoyed reading this book and I highly recommend it.

A. J. Ullman has created an awesome murder mystery! He truly set the bar high with the first book of this series, Murder at Music Hall. This first book seems like a very interesting series from A.J. and I love me some really good crime stories. A.J. has a unique way of writing dark crime stories and has a way of making you feel like you are part of the mystery. I started reading the book and before I knew it, I was completely consumed by the story. There was so much mystery and suspense, drama and angst. True knows this case is going to take everything he has and is going to take some major thinking outside the box. The murder isn’t even his biggest hurdle he has to jump, it’s the rich, snotty, and pain in the butt people that seem to be making things more complicated for him. It was a long night of reading because even if I wanted to, I could not put it down. This story is full of lies and betrayal, and manipulation. I found myself lost in every word turning page after page and I am looking forward to reading more from A.J.!

Murder At Music Hall is the first book in the True North Murder Mystery series by A.J Ullman. This is a thought-provoking crime thriller that had me engrossed right from the get-go. As expected from Mr. Ullman, this story is well-woven, intriguing, and suspenseful. And again, Mr. Ullman’s attention to detail and meticulousness gave this story the authenticity, believability, intrigue, depth, and mystery that others in the same genre are sometimes lacking. A gripping murder mystery which had me hooked throughout. Trueman “True” North is a retired homicide detective who is very familiar with death and thinks that his next case will be just another ‘by-the-book’ investigation. However, when the case involves St. John Skidmore the richest man in town, he knows it’s not going to be easy. He’s been asked to find out who murdered the son, Stoddard Skidmore but must contend with both the meddling daughter Kitty and Skidmore’s ruthless business competitor. True finds himself in the land of the uber-rich among people who presume he can be paid off, warned off or seduced. True is determined to find the truth as if he does not find the real killer than an innocent man will rot in prison, and the murderer will be free. The characters and the setting were brought vividly to life through the descriptive narrative. I found that True is a great main character, and I look forward to investigating further murder mysteries with him.

Murder at Music Hall is Book 1 in A True North Murder Mystery series…and if you like a good dark crime story…definitely check this one out! This story had me from page one…mystery, drama, intrigue, lies and manipulation! I am already looking forward to what this author has in store next for this series….count me in.
True North is on the hunt for a killer, on a case to find out who killed Stoddard Skidmore, the son of a very wealthy local man. As True tries to put the pieces together on the who and why….others are trying to manipulate him in more ways than one to keep him from bringing the guilty to justice. With twists and turns along the way…will True be able to find out whom murdered Stoddard….definitely read and find out…

I was hooked from the prologue of this book but it quickly vanished and I found myself wondering when this story would end. I love a great mystery book and I love music so I was questioning what I was missing when this story just stalled out for me.
This story is set in 1976, the day after Christmas. There were several things, which the author discusses in the appendix of the book, that just didn’t fit within the time frame. These really threw me off while reading this and took away from the book for me. While an author has the right to defect from historical accuracy, I personally felt like it took away from the story.
I also felt like parts of this story dragged on forever and several things felt like they were on repeat for me. I realize my review is unpopular opinion, as several people really enjoyed this story. I felt like it could have been 100 pages shorter and still accomplished the same outcome.
One thing I did like about this story is that I agree with the conclusion that True North came to in the end. It was the right thing to do considering all the circumstances.
Please don’t take my review as the best, as previously mentioned, my review is not of the popular opinion. It’s an enjoyable story but it took me much longer to read this one than most books in this genre take me. I had a hard time staying engaged in the story but did read it to completion.

This was my first novel by the author and I am definitely hooked! I can’t wait to check out the rest of his books! This was a fantastic kickoff to a new series; we meet True, a retired homicide detective, taking a private case that should be fairly straightforward. Instead, True has to deal with so many twists and curves throughout the novel. The author does a great job of drawing you in immediately and hooking you into the story. This is definitely a story that will hold your attention to the very last page and keep you enthralled. True has to wade through so many complex situations as well as multiple people trying to keep him from the truth. Definitely a must read for murder mystery fans.

A straight forward murder investigation turns out to be anything but that. The main character has to navigate complex situations that have the reader questioning what would happen next. From page 1, I was hooked. The book jumps right in and I was there for it. As True utilizes his prior detective knowledge as well as the knowledge he has from working with the individuals that first investigated this murder, there is some awesome backstory. it is easy to take notice that True was a great asset to the police department but is an even better PI as now he doesn’t have to answer to anyone in particular. I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading more of the True North Murder Mystery series.

Oh be still my beating heart and shattered nerves ! Ava and Kingston were the reason my blood pressure was sky high and my heart beat so erratic 😱🔥
Kingston is a man who wants what he wants and if he can’t buy it it get it willingly he’ll take it and Ava is no different , he wants her , he claims her , he owns her ! He is savage . He is cruel . He is dominant. He is dark . He is a bully . I can’t help but have a soft spot for him because every “ monster” has a story of how and why they are who and what they are and every “ monster” has a weak spot and Ava will soften Kingston .
I don’t want to focus on Ava’s brother Carson because he’s a waste of space and shouldn’t be allowed to breathe the air we do and it’s because of him Ava is in the predicament she is and that make me sick to to pit of my stomach but my “ dark side” wants to say thank you because she has Kingston and he’ll go to the ends of the earth for her ( yes for his reasons but she’s still his priority ) I know my twisted side likes to comes out and play 🙈🤣🔥
I could just feel Ava’s initial confusion when she comes out of her drugged state , I could feel her her fear , frustration , humiliation and hurt and the story unfolds , Ava has some fight in her though I remember her attacking Kingston in the beginning with an ornament and she gets quite fierce and feisty and she wasn’t easily subdued🤣🤩
If dark, sadistic , violent and mature content isn’t for you avoid this or at least try and look past it and see the characters and their story , see the bond that Kingston had with Garrett ( Ava’s dad) see the pain these people have to experience in their lives , see what it’s made them and how they’ve overcome it … see why I love them 😍

This book introduces an absolutely gripping story that, at times, had me on the edge of my seat. What should be a straightforward murder investigation turned out to be anything but and the character had to navigate some complex situations. The story was intriguing and I wasn’t always sure which way the author would take it, which made it more exciting to read. The book is full of twists and turns and it is great to see how the character handles everything that is thrown at him. The author has created a really exciting book that is full of suspense and mystery. This is a fantastic start to a new series and I cannot wait to read more.

This is a really good start to a new mystery series. This author does it again. He writes some amazing mysteries that have a dark feel to them. This is a story that has that feel of suspense and mystery. I sat down to start it and finished it fairly quick with a few interruptions from life. I didn’t want to put it down. The bit interruptions in this story are the rich high and mighty. It’s funny how they always insert themselves in the way. This is a story that will grab you right from the get go and you won’t be able to put it down until you are done.

This is book 2, we get more pov from this book. Book one is a king so savage so read that, then book 2. Kingston and Ava are really falling for each other, but she thinks she will be the downfall of them both. You find out what happened to Kingston and Oliver as kids and what a monster their father was. Ava gets confused in her feelings for King but she knows she needs him more now than ever, more than King will understand. Carson wants Ava to be declared dead so he can get her inheritance. But that doesn’t work out to Carson’s plan, nor Ava’s. Kingston maybe twisted in his ways of love and treatment of Ava but as in book one he will destroy everyone and everything for Ava. Omg couldn’t put this down!!

AJ has done it again! He has set the bar high with this first book Murder At Music Hall, A True North Murder Mystery. It is the beginning of what is set to be a great series. I love me some good crime stories. AJ does dark crime stories well and just like his And The River Runs Deep this one is cleverly crafted and intriguing. It had me spellbound with the mystery and suspense, intrigue and drama, angst and wondering. I was so consumed by and swept away by the story and the emotions that I soon found the book had ended. True knows this case is going to take everything he has and thinking outside the box is the only way he can get it done. Oh, it’s not the murder investigation he has to worry about. No! it is the rich, manipulating SOB’s that are going to be the biggest hurdles to get around. This well plotted gripping tale draws you in to the darkness and those in the shadows, it sends thrills down your spine and feeling the stress and tension that is palpable and leaping of the pages. This is the conclusion to The Savage Duet. This is not a sweet romance. This story is dark and like the name says savage. Kingston and Ava have to find their way in this world. He wants her protected but he can’t seem to protect her from himself. This is the type of story where he would burn down the world for her. I loved watching the way this story played out and how much the characters learned about themselves along the way.

He falls. She falls… but oh what a fall…kind of like one of this free falls that has you in the edge of your seat and has you questioning everything as you watch to see what is going to happen. This ending was action packed for Ava and Kingston and leads to their Happily Ever After and I’m (finger crossed) hoping to a beginning for Oliver.

Even after reading the first book in the duet i knew what type of man Kingston was and I really didn’t want to like him, but he worked his way in no matter how hard I fought it.
This book had my head spinning with everything that happened and I found myself flipping page after page to see what was going to happen and how everything would work itself out.
Ava did a lot of growing up and losing of her naivete. She also developed a back bone little by little, especially when dealing with Kingston.
I love the sweet love stories but there is something amazingly interesting a guy with a dark soul.
I cannot wait to read more by Ms. Moran, see her becoming a favorite of mine pretty quick.

Ava has fallen in love with Kingston and he has decided to keep her as his own. However can Kingston be trusted. Ava has been kidnapped by Kingston as a bargaining chip for her brothers debts. However her brother is not her biggest fan so there is the possibility that he will not pay for her safe return. However Kingston has had a thing for Ava for a long time and now is his chance to have her even if it costs him the money that he is owed. He has fallen for Ava even though he can’t admit it because it will soften him. Ava believes Kingston to be a monster and in ways he is but he wants to protect her but also take advantage of her in ways she has never had.

This was a great 5 star read. I love dark romance and this did not disappoint. We start right where book 1 ended, I was on the edge of my seat reading this. I really liked both Kingston and Ava, I really like the alpha bad boys. Ava is a strong character as well and as Kingstons captive she starts to fall for him. We get some very hot and steamy moments. Overall this was a great read. We get several twists and turns. I will warn there may be some triggers for some. You really need to read book 1 before this one. If you like dark romance this would be a read for you. I look forward to reading more from this author. 1-click and get started today.

I was doing my best to patiently wait for this book, and I’m pleased to say that it is a deliciously dark romance that kept me awake for hours just so I could finish in one sitting! Without giving anything detrimental to the story away, I *highly* recommend reading the first book in the duet. The chemistry that King and Ava have is no joke, but this book doesn’t just rely on steamy scenes for a plot. There is plenty of intense danger, action, drama, and a rollercoaster of emotions throughout that will have you at the edge of your seat. Although Kingston was far from my favorite person in the first book of this duet, getting more of his background here really does a nice job humanizing him, even if it is still twisted. If you’re looking for a steamy, tantalizing dark romance to devour, look no further. This is your sign!

I am an avid dark romance reader and this book checked all the boxes. I would definitely check for triggers before reading this. This is my first book by April Moran and it did not disappoint! I was hooked with every sentence and couldn’t wait to see where their unlikely romance headed.
