Moonlit Whisper: An Irish Romance (Moonlit Destination Series) by Amy McKinley

Moonlit Whisper is a shorter romance story about first lives and second chances. The only thing I have to say is I want more of their of story. I absolutely love this author and she’s without a doubt always a one-click for me. I literally read this book in less than a hour. Once I started I was pulled in and couldn’t stop. Fio, Connor and Lach were all friends, Connor and Fio had a special bond like no other. Life happened and Connor and his mom moved away to rid themselves of the bad things. Connor has now found his was back and he has his eyes set on one firey gal! She was asked to tutor an exchange student she had no clue it was her Connor. Can these two pick up where they left off ? What will there future look like? I can’t recommend reading this enough. I can’t wait to read more from this Author.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Finley Jones is a lady who wants to escape her family on Christmas Eve and avoid them questioning her about why she hasn’t settled down or given them grandchildren yet, but her brothers aren’t put under the same scrutiny, so she decides to go to a local bar and have a few drinks instead. As she starts on her first beer, she sees a handsome man at the other end of the bar and then she decides that maybe she wouldn’t mind a bit of good looking company after all and it seems that he is in the same mindset as she is.

Garret Scott just wants to relax and unwind after four days on shift at the fire station, that is until he sees an attractive woman at the other end of the bar and maybe being alone isn’t on the cards after all, one thing leads to the other and it turns into a night of passion, but will happen when the next morning dawns, will Santa make their Christmas wishes come true, or will things go the opposite way? This novella is full of naughty and nice, but the only way to find out how much of each is to read on.

Fighting for Us (Love is Worth Fighting For Book 1) by Bella Emy – Review by Roxsanne Lesieur

Fighting for Us (Love is Worth Fighting For #1)Fighting for Us by Bella Emy
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This story starts with Lorenzo by his wife’s bedside, she is in hospital and very sick, she is suffering and is in pain, but when she dies, Lorenzo is distraught, he couldn’t save her, he couldn’t protect her from the headaches and he now cannot fathom life without her and being left with his daughter and having to bring her up as a single parent is more than he can bear to think about, he cries for hours and eventually goes home to his daughter.

We next see Lorenzo five years late and he is training for his upcoming MMA title match, he has been training for this for months and is determined to win, it is a good way to channel his energy and anger over his wife’s death, he is finishing up and about to head home to relieve his brother from looking after his daughter while he was at the gym, his daughter is the light of his life and always makes him smile, no matter how his day is going, it is the same for his family as well. He is still reeling from the loss of his wife and he tears up at anything which brings him memories of her, her favourite film or song gets him everytime, remembering the way she looked, the way she smelled and the way she loved life and he struggles to see how his future will play out without her.

Next we see Carissa, she is trying not to be goaded into talking with her sister and best friend about hot men and that she should be looking for one to occupy her bed, even though she doesn’t want anything to do with men after what her ex did to her, but they won’t stop. They are looking at a flyer or an upcoming MMA match and trying to persuade Carissa to go with them, even if it is just to gawk over the hot men, especially the guy with the big muscular arms out front, whom they have nicknamed Guns! They are also trying to take her mind off her ex, so they eventually persuade her to come out with them as it is Friday night and they haven’t been out in a while, so they get ready to go to their local bar and have a few drinks together.

Unbeknownst to both Lorenzo and Carissa, they are both going to be at the same bar, Lorenzo with his brother and sister, it is where they go every other weekend when their parents look after Lorenzo’s daughter so he can have some time as a normal adult. Lorenzo’s siblings are worried about the upcoming match and the day that it is being held, it is the fifth anniversary of his wife’s death and they are also worried that he will hurt someone more than he intends to. When Carissa enters the bar with her sister and best friend, Lorenzo can’t stop glancing her way, unfortunately, his brother notices too and it starts an argument, so instead of it escalating, he decides to leave and this is when he catches Carissa’s eye and again, it is also noticed by the others she is with.

This is not going to be the last time that Lorenzo and Carissa run into each other, nor will it be the last time that they catch each other’s eyes, but because this is a romantic tale of love, heartbreak and fate, which of these things will be on the cards in the future for the pair? The only way to find out is to read along with them.

Becoming Human by Amy Michelle Carpenter – Review by Roxsanne Lesieur

Becoming HumanBecoming Human by Amy Michelle Carpenter
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a story of three teenagers working towards a common goal, even if it is something which nobody else will believe, they are a human and two aliens, they are from different planets and have very different ideals, Carter is a human boy who refuses to believe in aliens, even though his dad has met one before and announced it on national television, Kokab is an alien who is robotic in nature and only wants to belong on her home planet, but her emotions are getting in the way and now her planet is about to be destroyed and she is the only one who can go to Earth as an ambassador so that she can get the humans to agree to take her race in and Ags is another alien who is in love with Earth, even though she has only studied it from afar with her mother, but when she learns of the invasion, she wants to stop it in any way she can.

The story starts with Carter, he is at a pool party with his swimming team and is being needled by them about aliens and whether his father still believes in them, it bothers him so much that he struggles to enjoy himself and leaves the party in the end and goes for a walk in the woods with his cousin and dog, this is when he sees the UFO, or at least it would be if aliens were real.

Kokab has been summoned to the offices where she was tested as a Youngling and designated as an almost, but not a perfect, it is because she can feel emotions, even though she shouldn’t do and as she enters the office of the Eldest One, he doesn’t look like any of the other perfects, but she shouldn’t even be thinking these thoughts in the first place. As the meeting progresses, some information is loaded up to the chip implanted in her brain which she will need for the mission she has been chosen for, including the reason why it needs to happen and she can do nothing but obey the demands which are to go to Earth, learn how to experience and understand the emotions the people exhibit and and prepare them for her people’s arrival. When she arrives and meets Carter and his dad, none of them know how important it will be for Kokab to learn about the emotions she is feeling.

Ags is learning how to drive the family ship and decides to go and get ready for the ceremony to graduate and become a guardian of Earth, the dress is uncomfortable as she prefers her Earth clothing instead, but she will put up with it for this one time. Ags meets up with her friend Yas and they go inside the building where the ceremony is held, she can;t help admiring the view, even though it is her home planet, she feels like she is more of a visitor and after the ceremony is finished, she has shaken the hand of the elder giving her her certificate as she becomes an official guardian of Earth, she takes part in the celebrations until she finds out about the invasion that puts a damper on her evening.

When the worlds of these three young people collide, it is a tough call to know what decisions are the right ones and they are all still too young really for the responsibilities they hold, but when they do collide, what will happen and will they be able to pull together to keep Earth safe? The only way to find out is to read away and follow the adventure.

OFFICE MISTAKES by BETH HALE – Review by Karyn Taylor

Office MistakesOffice Mistakes by Beth Hale
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Office Mistakes is a short, hot and steamy contemporary romance by Beth Hale. It’s the first time I’ve read any of this author’s work but I don’t think that it will be the last as I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I devoured this book in one sitting and although short, the author has managed to pack quite a bit into the story.
It’s a great office romance and the story flows along at a quick pace. I loved both of the main characters, Audra and Charlie. Both have been working together for 2 years and have both admired each other from afar and now both are up for the same promotion. So what happens when they hook up together at the office Christmas party?
Well, what happens is a great story that kept me hooked from the beginning to the end. I became invested in these characters and wanted to know how things would turn out for them. I was really hoping that they would get the HEA that they deserved. Did they? Well, I’m not going to give away that spoiler. If you want to know how their story turns out then I recommend that you give Office Mistakes a chance.

Fighting for us is my first read from Bella Emy and after reading this read I can’t wait to see what comes of this series and what more this author will give us! Lorenzo and Carissa have not had the best time over the past 5 years, but will they both be able to take a second chance and get the HEA they both very much deserve. This read pulls at your heart, it has ups and downs, romance, heartache and heartbreak, passion and chemistry that is undeniable. Another great thing with read are the secondary characters, I can’t wait to read their individual stories, as I loved them supporting the main characters in this one! Another thing to say is that reading this is various POV’s really helps you connect deeper with the characters and really understand what they are thinking and feeling! Corporate ChristmasCorporate Christmas by Bernadette Marie
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Corporate Christmas by Bernadette Marie is a romantic Christmas story. This is a quick read which I went through in one sitting but nice because I wasn’t tied for days with a book. The story follows hardworking Chloe Richardson who has been overworking in order to bring in a prime client and land the new promotion. She has given up cherished family time and more for her job. When she is overlooked for the promotion for the new Jason Mitchell what does she do? I love that the character of Chloe is realistic and hardworking. She wants to be the best she can be and sometimes we are handed some crappy hurdles. I enjoyed how Jason handles his new position and finds a way to incorporate Chloe into his work. This is a sweet, romance between two people who are trying to make the best of their life. I really enjoyed this author and look forward to reading more from her in the future.

This is my first read by this author and I did enjoy it, it was a super quick read and quite steamy in a few places. I like office romance stories and this one being during Christmas made it that much better. I was afraid I would not have enough time to connect with the characters but it turned out I was wrong and Audra and Charlie became a couple I found myself really pulling for. I loved their interaction and there were a few seconds where I wasn’t quite sure how this would turn out.

I definitely want to read more from this author. As short as this book was, I found that the style and flow of the writing was fantastic and really look forward to trying more of her books.

This was a sweet and heartbreaking short read. The main character Lorenzo goes those something even I know I probably wouldn’t want to survive. The love he felt for Sylvia could be felt in the pages and words. The short time they had together. The child they brought into the world together. It all broke my heart. When she passed and he cried out I wanted to cry too. Fast forward some years Gianna is beautiful and thriving. Lorenzo not so much. Then comes along sweet luscious Clarissa. Can they both move n from their past? Can live conquer all? Will Clarissa let her knowledge of Lorenzo stop her from having the love she know she deserves? I was disappointed by why Clarissa left him. If the man has told you he hasn’t dated or slept around since losing his wife but has cooked for you and invited you into his home. Don’t you hold a special place in his heart now too? Ugh I was frustrated. Good story a good length. The author wrote and presented this very well.

The last Christmas gave you the sense that it was over. But it’s Christmas and miracles happen. I liked how the author put humor in something so serious. We all have lost someone from some illness or other. Cancer is a depressing monster. It breaks even the strongest of us down. When life is at its lowest for Joan she gets a spirit bust from Santa. I loved how he laid things out for her. He showed her how she had given up the fight. When her husband could possibly pull through. I loved how they rallied around each other for strength. It was a truly beautiful story. It was a short read full of a range of emotions.

It was easy to keep turning the pages because I fell in love with the characters. The writing flows so well and the story was evenly paced, although I found the ending a bit rushed. I also loved the way music and songs were featured in the story, as a lover of old jazz standards. Lovely read.

Office Mistakes by Beth Hale was a great 5 star read.
This was a fun quick read.

Audra decides to spike the punch at her work party to liven things up. She ends up taking Charlie home since he drank a little too much punch. Of course these two have had some chemistry between them but Audra refuses to make another Office Mistake.

Things take a pretty hot and steamy twist once they get to Charlie’s house. Will Audra finally give in to her feelings for Charlie? Or will she let the past interfere?

Overall this was a fun office romance story. I really enjoyed both characters and Charlie was so sweet and understanding. There are a couple of twists that add a good element to the story as well. If you’re looking for a quick romance read with loveable characters this is the read for you.

Audra and Charlie are both up for the same promotion. They have also both been denying an attraction to each other for two years. Audra knows, from personal experience, that office romances can go up in flames and be more drama than they are worth. So…after Audra and Charlie hook up after the company Christmas party, Audra decides that it is best that they stay friends and not pursue a relationship. Charlie thinks the opposite and wants to see where their relationship could go. Can Audra move beyond her past and see if there is a future with Charlie? You’ll have to read to find out.

This is a short office romance story. However, a lot happens in such a short time. I found myself hoping Audra would let Charlie in. When her insecurities were revealed, her actions made more sense. This was a good, quick read!

Moonlit Whisper is a novella in the Moonlit Destination series by Amy McKinley. This book was very quick, reading it in one day, but it was good. I wish it was a full story, as I think it ended too soon. This story of Connor and Fiona was more carefree than I’m used to reading of McKinley’s. It tells the story of a love triangle of sorts, where Fiona is made to choose between her two best friends. I love the connection they share, but wish there was more details to the story. The plot is good enough it could have been a full length novel, but it is what it is. Still enjoyed it, and recommend to others for a quick sweet story with a happily ever after.

This was a short Christmas romance with plenty of steamy scenes. Finley Jones and Garrett Scott meet up in Mike’s Tavern on Christmas Eve and spend the night together with Finley leaving before Garrett woke up the next morning. They are both surprised when they arrive at the firehouse to discover that Garrett is a fireman, who Finley has sworn never to date and that Finley is in fact Garrett’s Chief’s daughter, who is totally off limits. Finley and Garrett’s chemistry literally sizzled off the page and they could not keep their hands off each other. Having turned up at the Christmas party ready for Garrett to play Santa Claus and Finley his elf the couple still can’t deny their mutual attraction but neither of them are sure if it’s just a holiday hook up they are interested in or something more. This is a fun, lighthearted and very hot read with two very likeable characters who’s chemistry really came across in the narrative. A perfect short novella with a Christmas feel, just right for some escapism over the festive holidays.

The Kissing Bough (Forbidden Loves, #1)The Kissing Bough by Madelynne Ellis
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Kissing Bough (Forbidden Loves) by Madelynne Ellis is an erotica, historical, romance story. This is a well written short ménage à trois. Historical is not really my genre but this delightful little tale was too short even for me. But don’t let the number of pages deter you, Madelynne has given us a full book in fewer pages. It is hot, it is racy, and is a forbidden sin especially given its era. Untrue rumours lead a young lady’s life to ruin. But it is those same rumours that lead her into a relationship that is definitely taboo and shunned upon.

“The big city had squashed her spirit. Perhaps she needed her small town to build it again.”

Corporate Christmas by Bernadette Marie is fun Christmas romance that held my attention from the very first page. As this is my first read from Bernadette Marie, I really wasn’t sure of what to expect from one of her stories. But having come out the other side, I can honestly say that this is one author who knows how to write a great book, and I will definitely be reading more of her work in the future- already adding her to my must read author list.
Chloe Richardson loved her job at the advertising agency, it was her sole focus- she revelled in bringing new clients and had quickly become the firm’s top performer. In fact, her latest contract would be the ‘biggest’ client yet- putting Chloe firmly in line for a coveted promotion. Or so she though. All her plans are smashed to smithereens when a newcomer is hired to take over the position Chloe assumed would be hers, and leaving her unemployed right before Christmas. Chloe would love nothing better than to hate the man who ‘stole’ her position and left her jobless- but the heart doesn’t always listen to the head. So, Chloe packs up and heads back to her home town for Christmas- giving herself some much needed down time before having to decide what she wants to do with her life, in the New Year. But what happens when Mr. sexy follows her back home- turning up unexpectedly and trying to win her heart? How things unfold makes for a really wonderful story.
Small town Christmas romance, with chemistry, drama, angst, a touch of Christmas magic, wonderful characters, and a feel-good ending.
Looking forward to more from Bernadette Marie.

Thank you, Bernadette Marie!

I loved this heartwarming festive romance which really put me in the Christmas spirit. This fairly short story was packed full of drama and romance, and took me on an emotional rollercoaster. I fell in love with the two main characters, Chloe and Jason and I also fell in love with the extremely Christmasy setting of Aubrey Heights. Author Marie really bought both the characters and the setting to life with her descriptive narrative and it helped make me feel immersed in the story. The storyline flowed well making this an enjoyable and engaging read. Having just landed the biggest client of her career and for the company she works for Chloe Richardson is convinced she will be offered the promotion she’s been working so hard for. Chloe is shocked and upset when she meets Jason Mitchell who has just been employed for the job she thought was hers. As well as being angry she also can’t help but like the handsome and charming Jason. Jason was looking forward to starting his new job and starting a fresh but was unaware that he was taking someone else’s job, especially the beautiful and intriguing Chloe’s job. When things get worse and she looses her job Chloe returns to her childhood home in Aubrey Heights, where Christmas is celebrated in a tourist wonderland. Jason follows her to Aubrey Heights with the intention of winning her heart but a series of misunderstandings concerning ex boyfriends and Chloe’s numerous job offers complicate things for the couple. I was cheering them on hoping they would get their Christmas happily ever after. This story really gave me that feel good factor and left me full of the Christmas spirit.

This is a good story. I didn’t love it like I expected. There just seemed something off. At first I was frustrated at how long it took the two main characters to even meet or talk to each other. Then once they got together I was more invested. Then when they were near the end and discussing issues? It just seemed too rushed….the wording didn’t seem to fit with the flow of the story.

I loved that he is an MMA fighter and that’s what led me to read this book. I enjoyed his brother and sister. In fact her story I would be interested in. Gianna is cute but there was not much time spent with her and the couple.

So while it’s a good story and I really wanted to love it..I just couldn’t. Sorry.

Run to the Sea (Reigning Hearts Book One) AUDIO BOOK by KG Fletcher – Review by Angela Shirley

Run to the Sea (Reigning Hearts, #1)Run to the Sea by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Thomas is back were he grow up and looking at things which bring back memories of a life he left behind, until he stumbles into a restaurant and sees the childhood friend he has not seen for a longtime.

Emeline is a smart, attractive and is trying to make ends meat until a stranger from the past comes breezing in the door and put her back to the time they were best friends and the attraction she felt.

The story was brilliantly written and when you read book by KG Fletcher you know what you are getting with great characters and brilliant storylines. I loved the characters of Thomas and Emeline as they were a great complement to each other, the history they had from childhood filters through the story and gives them a great base to brilliant story. I love an audible book as it gives another prospective to the story and with the passion and personality that the reader gives you it is a element which draws you in further to the story.
