Ladybugs for Loretta (Loretta’s Insects) by Lois Wickstrom – Review by Dr. Anya Schultz

Ladybugs for Loretta (Loretta's Insects)Ladybugs for Loretta by Lois Wickstrom
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have read a couple books by this author and I think this is my favorite so far. This children’s story is actually semi-”normal” for this author and provides children with a lot of information. Loretta is a little girl who loves to be mischievous, who one day stumbles upon a group of ladybugs all huddled together. She decided to bring them home where she learns that ladybugs stay in one spot and don’t eat while it is cold. So, Loretta decides to store them in her refrigerator to keep them to help her garden grow in the spring. However, everyday she was bringing more and more ladybugs home and the fridge had no more room left. Finally, though, spring came and it was time for the ladybugs to do their job in the garden. That summer they had the best crops their garden had ever seen, but when winter came, once again they would go under a rock till the next spring.
I actually learned something reading this book. I always knew that ladybugs were great for the garden. I went to a college that lived near a farm and each spring we would be bombarded with ladybugs in our dorm rooms because they used the ladybugs to keep all their plants healthy. However, I did not know about their habits in the winter. I found it strange and intriguing that Loretta kept the ladybugs in the fridge and they would be just fine once it was warm again. I love when I can read something that would teach my children and me something new and useful!!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Important m/m between main characters. It has a Romeo Juliet feel too it unless you want to say Romeo and Romeo. It’s not just about sex either. Which makes me love the book even more. It has a storyline of the two men Luca aka Steele and Byron falling in love and there struggles.

What a cute children’s book “Where Do Pirates Go on Vacation?” is!! Because pirates are always sailing on adventures, the kids in the book wondered if pirates ever go on vacation. Do they relax, go camping, play games, dance, ever leave their ships? The message the book sends to kids is that they probably never need a vacation because everything they love is always with them. This was a cute book. It had a great message, diverse characters, great illustrations, and I loved the double layout of the book.

This little story is absolutely adorable! This is a precious children’s read about what Pirates do when they are not following maps across the oceans and looking for treasure. It’s got some really cute rhyming and beautiful illustrations that make reading it all the more fun! I read it to my young nephew and he was so excited about it because he was able to follow the story and enjoy it. I’ll definitely look for more from this author for really good children’s books!!

Joker’s Fool (Satan’s Devils MC #8) Audiobook by Manda Mellett – Review by M Policicchio

If I could give this book more stars, I would.  This takes over as my favorite book of the series, so far!!  I don’t know how to express how surprised I was by this one. Delightfully, happily, shockingly surprised but I was so caught up in this story, I didn’t want to turn it off.  I wanted to clap, scream, cheer, cry, and shout at Joker so many times during this one.  When Logan finished his narration, I almost stood and clapped but my coworkers and others in the office would have looked at me strangely so I held it in!  😉

This story walks you through Joker’s time as a Satan’s Devil and his self discovery.   I love the way the previous stories were played out in the background so you had a sense of time in the Satan’s Devils MC-verse.  Joker’s journey of hating himself to loving himself was simply amazing.  Joker’s journey was supported by Lady’s Man, a therapist, friends, and eventually his brothers.  It wasn’t an instant transformation.  It was beautiful and thoughtful.  I was surprised at the intimate scenes.  They were sensual as well as steamy, loving and gentle as well as gritty and hard.

I can’t say too much or I will spill all the beans and this review will be all spoilers.  I LOVED THIS ONE!!!  I love this series.  I want to be a Satan’s Devil!!  I just have to learn to ride a bike first!!

The Hawke Family Complete Collection by Gwyn McNamee – Review by Kerry Carr

The Hawke Family Complete CollectionThe Hawke Family Complete Collection by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really loved this collection of stories. Each book follows a different member of the Hawke family. They are full of steamy romance but also an element of danger and the twists and turns make these books so easy to get lost in.
Every member of the Hawke family has a story to tell and each one of them is flawed and has problems and secrets but as they find love we slowly see them grow and overcome their issues. But it’s never an easy journey and there are plenty of bumps along the way to send them off course.
These stories will make you smile and cry but one things for sure you will definately fall in love with each member of the Hawke Family.
It’s a collection I read over 3 days because I literally couldn’t put it down. Such amazing writing and characters.

This book gave off beauty and the beast vibes. It is book 5 in the series, but I don’t think you have to go back to read the other books first. I might have to go check them out, just because I couldn’t totally get into this book. I will give this series another chance and read book 1 to see if I like it.

Joker’s Fool (Satan’s Devils MC #8) Audiobook by Manda Mellett – Review by Bobbi Wagner

This is not my first audiobook by this author but it is one of my favorites by her.  I enjoy how the narrator pulls me into the story from the start.  They brought life to the story and had me coming back for more.  I enjoyed the different tones they used as well.  This is a great series which I highly suggest listening to the previous audios as well.  The characters are both lovable and connectable. They took me on an emotional roller coaster ride that I didn’t want to stop including a few tears. I loved their journey and watching them grow throughout the story.  It was a great story to listen to on my way to work.  I highly recommend this audio and this author.

I enjoy Lois Wickstrom’s books not only the adult in me but also for my great niece’s and nephew as well. As we open up the book, we learn that Loretta and her family have a big garden to take care of so they can have food for the winter. Loretta tries hard to make sure no critters take their food from the garden. Loretta finds these ladybugs and we journey to find out how ladybugs are beneficial to gardens.

This story really captures learning all about ladybugs, even I learned things I did not know myself and curiosity. The story is enjoyable for all ages.

Nite Fire: Exit Strategy Audiobook by C.L. Schneider – Review by Shelly Kittell

5 out of 5 stars

Here we are at book 5, It’s the end! Dahlia is one of my favorite characters. She is part dragon but she is also strong, brave and resilient. The apocalypse has finally come and the poo has hit fan. She is trying to save the world. She has so many things going wrong all at once that would make most people collapse. Old enemies return while she is trying to find her missing team. This author has again written a terrific book. A fantastic finish to the series. There is lots of action from the beginning to pull you in and keep you going all the way to the end of story. The narrator does a fantastic job of pulling you in and getting you into the story. I was listening as I did chores and it made them much more exciting as I kept hearing bits about exploding dragon or monster bits all over. The action was detailed. The drama was plenty. A very powerful ending to one of my favorite fantasy series. I have loved this narrator and the author. A terrific combo that has made this a joy to listen to. I love the fact that the snark is in Dahlia. She gives as good as she gets. Her team does as well. I will miss Dahlia and her snark.

Puzzlement ensues as special mentors appear and seem to defy what reality means. Wielding godlike powers, these teachers help illuminate the secrets of all creation.

With the fate of the entire MultiVerse at stake, which side will become the victor in the end?

Journeys Through TimeSpace

Each side of this battle for the fate of Earth and her inhabitants must secure ancient treasures. Immense obstacles confront both sides as they work to obtain these powerful artifacts.

Not only must our young Earth heroes learn new knowledge and skills associated with ancient wisdom traditions, but they must travel to both Earth’s past and future to find the treasures needed to defend their world against a powerful enemy.

Secret Earth organizations are also players in this thrilling adventure. These ancient groups have been adversaries for hundreds of years. Their long-term battle becomes intense as Earth’s fate draws closer.

As the clock ticks, can Earth’s defenders succeed, or will the powerful reptilian humanoid leader and his followers achieve their plan for reality across the MultiVerse of time and space?

Journeys Through AllCreation

An ancient prophecy foretells the diabolical plans of an exceedingly intelligent and powerful being. To ensure reality continues to unfold as desired, the ‘god’ entity will utilize the innate powers contained in the Dokkaebi-of-all-Creation to destroy various universes that make up the MultiVerse.

Celestial beings most capable of stopping these plans for destruction become trapped in an alternate reality. Can they escape this illusion before their fates are sealed forever?

Former twins from the lost continent of Atlantis will play pivotal roles in countering the threat of total annihilation for untold numbers of lives across the MultiVerse. Will they be able to help save their current home worlds and the mentors who have taught them so much?

A beautiful and enlightened queen is enlisted in the team’s quest to find an ancient artifact that could assist them in locating the Master Mage. This wizard is their only real hope for defeating the former celestial leader. Can this strange and unassuming being provide what is needed?

While the outcome cannot be fully predicted from the discovered text and images, both sides prepare for an inevitable confrontation as the ancient prophecy plays out. As ‘gods’ and mortals face off in the battle for the future of all creation, which ideals and forces will reign supreme?

What Actually Happened to Isaac MooreWhat Actually Happened to Isaac Moore by Samantha J. Rose
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first book I’ve read from this author and her writing style surprised me. I love a good fantasy story but this author exceeded all my expectations. She wrote so much detail into this story it felt like I was the one in the story. I was so addicted to this book it only took me a few hours to devour this epic story. I’m so excited to see what she will write about next.

Isaac loves being a sailor. He loves what he does but he also loves his daily meal. Isaac doesn’t believe in fairytales but when a cute little fairy comes to him he can’t say no. He finds himself in his very own story that he thought he would never have in his life. Isaac doesn’t even know what to expect but he is up for the challenge even for the most feared Snowman. Will Isaac get everything accomplished so he can go home or will he be in the adventure for a long time?

As I have mentioned so many times now, I have read all of Via Mari’s book and have loved every single one of them. This talented author never fails to deliver a sexy and enticing read that never fails to keep me glued to the pages as all the gritty, raw, and intriguing developments unfold. I always go in with extremely high expectations, and she never lets me down!

If you love a great sports, second chance romance that was a slow burn (for me) I would definitely recommend this book highly! This author is new to me and I love sports romance books, especially a hockey romance.

Beckett Miller is a hot shot NHL player who loves hockey, booze, drugs and women. When Beckett’s life spins out of control off the ice, his hockey career is threatened. Paige Anderson has it all….successful business, loving husband and wonderful life….or so she thinks. When Beckett initially meets Paige to sell his house to make money, putting two and two together they knew each other in their college years. Paige’s marriage is in shambles and Beckett’s hockey profession and they are there to lean on each other through the ups and downs…and sparks fly hard in that process between Paige and Beckett…but when an ugly scandal shows its head…will Paige and Beckett survive knowing the past can come back and haunt Beckett?

This book was so much a roller coaster of emotions. I was rooting for Beckett and Paige and their story..but I can say at times I wanted to shake Paige! This book has romance, scandal and a second chance for love and true happiness. I am looking forward to the next book in this series!!

What Actually Happened to Isaac Moore starts out as a classic pirate story of a fairy tale treasure in another world. Then the story is taken in a completely different direction with the appearance of a fairy looking to get back to her world and needing Isaac’s help.

It is truly a refreshing engaging story with many twists and turns that I was not expecting. The amount of detail in this book is perfect to get the point across and brings about distinct images of the creature and or place. I could not put this book down because I needed to find out what happened to Isaac Moore!

Love Tools (Bluestone Series #1) by Isobel Reed

This is the first book I’ve read by the author. Love Tools is an amazing first read. The author has a way with the words written. I finished this within an hour so that should say something. This is the first book in the Bluestone Series.

Jake goes in to check on the store his friend owned when he was alive. He runs into someone new to him. He’s shocked to learn that his friend was a dad and his daughter is hot. The quote I chose for Jake is: “Um, he was a good guy. Quiet. Liked to keep himself to himself, but he had a good heart.”

Lily moved to where her dad lived to find out who he was. She didn’t expect to run into someone on her first day in town. Montana does their guys right. She doesn’t know how to react to him. The quote I chose for Lily is: “You have a dad, Ali, a real dad. I have a stepdad and a dead biological father who left and never said why. If you were me, wouldn’t you want answers?”

Highly recommended for Contemporary Romance lovers.

Taming Beckett: A Bad Boy Sports Romance (The Playmakers Series Hockey Romances Book 1)

I love almost all sports. For some reason I haven’t gotten into hockey, but have enjoyed every hockey book/series I have read.

When reading a series I always see how the first book grabs me and make my decision from there if I’m going to invest the time I’m the series or not. I decided I was fully invested pretty early on.

I love bad boys and if they can find the girl to change them it’s even better for me. I certainly wasted way too much time on the bad boys.

Paige Anderson “Andie” is exactly what Beckett needed and found her when he had no intention of a relationship. She was far from perfect and had her issues, but don’t we all? She had no clue events from her childhood clouded the way she saw things as an adult.

Beckett was on the hot mess express and heading straight towards a wall. He took everything he had for granted and learned an important lesson the hard way.

They were total opposites but worked together. I’m already hooked and can’t wait to get a chance to read the next book in the series.

What Actually Happened to Isaac Moore by Samantha J. Rose. This is my first read by this author but I loved it. Its a true adventure book like I used to read when I was younger. I was sucked in as soon as I started reading and didn’t want to put it down until I was finished. Its the story of Isaac Moore who has grown up really poor so the only way to have fun is to have a great imagination. In Isaac’s mind he is a sailor and has been his whole life. He sails the seas and devotes his life to his mission. Isaac also finds stories his mom and grandma have read to him becoming part of his “real” life. He ends up being sucked into a world where there are monsters that are called snowman and worms that are huge. This is such a fun adventurous read that will take you on many journey’s. Kids and adults a like will enjoy this tale!

This was a very good book! This one picks up pretty much where the first one left off, and as it has been a while since I read the first one I did it take me a bit to remember what was going on. I don’t recommend reading this as a standalone, because there are a lot of recurring characters and events that pertain to the main story. This book was action packed, tense, romantic, and full of suspense as well. I highly recommend this book as well as the first one.

Love Tools (Bluestone Series, #1)Love Tools by Isobel Reed
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Miserably unhappy, Lilly, a young lady from London, moves to the states to takeover a tool shop that was left to her after a father she barely knew passed away. In a search to connect and discover more about her father she discovered Jake who is more than willing to give her the answers she seeks. Jake, a playboy cowboy who runs a ranch with his sister doesn’t quite know if he’s experiencing love for the first time or if what he is feeling is something else. Love Tools was a quick, sweet, fun romance that I was delighted to read. I read it in about two days only stopping because of adult responsibilities and I didn’t have a choice. I definitely didn’t want to put it down. It looks like this might be a series and I would be interested in reading more by this author.
