Nathaniel (Dragon Hearts #1) by Carole Mortimer – Review by Naomi McDonald

Nathaniel (Dragon Hearts #1)Nathaniel by Carole Mortimer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Nathaniel is the first book in the Dragon Hearts series. It can be read as a standalone.

It took me a little bit to get into this book, but once I was able to connect to the characters it was a good experience. It is a quick read, only took me a few hours. This story has a decently strong female character so that was refreshing. She is also a bit snarky, which makes the story a bit amusing as well.

While vacationing in Wales, Chloe makes an interesting discovery. Of course, the journalist in her won’t let it go so she finds herself alone facing an intimidating man. Between her insatiable curiosity, and her smart mouth, she lands herself in a world she never knew existed. Can she trust this mysterious Nathaniel, or is he simply lulling her into a false sense of security? Can anything she sees or hears actually be real? And if it is, is she willing to accept it? One innocent misstep and she finds that her very life may depend on just that…acceptance.

Four Stars

Nathaniel is book one of the Dragon Hearts Series by Carole Mortimer. This is the first book I have read by Ms. Mortimer, but it definitely won’t be the last. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of this series. This book really sets the scene for this Dragon Shifter series featuring the Pendragon Brothers, all alpha dragon shifter’s looking for their fated mate before they become feral. This book grabbed my attention on the very first page and I couldn’t put it down until I read the last. Chloe is a reporter who discovers a castle while looking for a story in Wales. Nathaniel discovers Chloe walking on his property and the magic begins. I don’t read many shifter books, but I would definitely recommend this book and can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

Nathaniel (Dragon Hearts #1)Nathaniel by Carole Mortimer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Nathaniel (Dragon Hearts 1) by Carole Mortimer is a sexy paranormal fantasy story of dragons. I enjoyed the little twist to the Pendragon name and the mystery that is the Pendragon castle and the secrecy that surrounds it and found this well written story very entertaining. It is a quick read that is full of humour and I really enjoyed the banter of the feisty and witty Chloe, who takes no prisoners and her sexy alpha dragon and their sexual tension. Carole has set the scene of a previous time and has written a fun read, with some hot and steamy scenes with hot and sexy dragons. My only problem was it is not long enough. I want more! I do however look forward to reading more on the Pendragon brothers. Nathaniel is a good start to the series.

Nathaniel (Dragon Hearts #1)Nathaniel
ByCarole Mortimer
My Rating: 5 of 5 stars

Nathaniel (Dragon Hearts #1) by Carole Mortimer was a hot, fan worthy, hooking story about the alpha of alpha-est male dragon and his soon to be mate.

My first read from this author I didn’t know what I was getting into, as this author has written many, many books, and me being like, why is this the first time I’m hearing about this? Went in with fresh eyes and a open mind. And, first impressions, I like.. I like a lot.

I am a dragon lover, and ten to collect dragon books. Seeing this I couldn’t pass it up, and I was not disappointed in the least. This quik, hot steamy read doesn’t leave room for filler, or for any real world building or character development. But, that wasn’t a bad thing, because, the focus of the story was, more about the couple, and setting the stage for the series to come. We get some back story on the brothers, we get introduced to many characters that I’m assuming will be important in later books, and we get hot insta/lust-love.

I know insta love/lust. But, the writing is so good, and engaging, that, it didn’t bother me at all. I was sucked into this story, unable to put it down. I very much enjoyed reading about Nathaniel and Chloe. As mighty alpha as he is, Chloe give it back just as hard. (In more ways than one…) They have such a fun, entertaining dynamic that, it stole the show and made you forget that, there are some elements missing. And again, even though I picked up on that, I didn’t care as much, because their story is just so good. These characters carried the story and man, that type of talent is rare.

So please take my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval, that you will get swept up in Nathaniel’s and Chloe’s crazy whirlwind love story.

Happy Reading

Nathaniel (Dragon Hearts Book 1) by Carole Mortimer – Review by Erin Wolf

Nathaniel (Dragon Hearts #1)Nathaniel by Carole Mortimer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I give Nathaniel (Dragon Hearts 1) by Carole Mortimer, 4 stars.

Chloe is a journalist who is on vacation in Wales. When she comes across a castle that is not on any map or vacation guide, she is instantly intrigued. Even the villagers cannot tell her too much. So she decides to have a look for herself. What and who she finds there astounds her. But these men, while drop dead gorgeous, must be up to something illegal. Why else all the secrecy? But the big question is, what has she really gotten herself into?

Nathaniel is one of the men living in the castle. He tries to ignore the hot woman getting too close to their home, but the second time she shows up, he know he must stop her. But she is persistent. Not to mention that a part of him doesn’t want to say no to her. But this cannot be, he does not need a woman in his life. Or does he?

This paranormal romance at its finest. Well written, the story and the characters are great. The setting is of course outstanding, giving it a more gothic feel. Well, an updated gothic feel at least. The men are sexy and the romance is quite heated. But there is more going on. If you are a fan or paranormal romance or just like fantasy and something different, this book will appeal to you. I cannot wait to read more of the books in the series and learn more about the other men.

I highly recommend then wonderful paranormal romance to adults you enjoy a fun, sexy read with lots of hot men.

5 stars!!!!!

I just love dragon shifter books. This was also a new author and series for me. I was not disappointed! This is yet another wonderful twist on the legend of King Arthur. The author’s writing style and story are so unique and refreshing.

The whole chemistry between Nathaniel and Chloe is just electric. I felt as though I was Chloe and went through all the feelings and emotions as she did. I really liked the fated mates bit. I found that I was just glued to the pages to see what would happen. I was definitely on the edge of my seat waiting to see what Chloe would decide and how it would all end. The emotions and affects of being fated mates brought so much to the book. The fact that there are seven more brothers brings so much to how the series will move on and I cannot wait. This first book is such a great starting point of this series and I cannot wait to see how the remaining stories unfold. I definitely will be reading more of this series and from this author.

Nathaniel (Dragon Hearts 1) by Carole Mortimer – Review by Maura Harper

Nathaniel (Dragon Hearts #1)Nathaniel by Carole Mortimer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is book 1 in a new series about a family of dragons. It would seem as if all of them are incredibly good looking and each has his own unique personality trait.

The first brother we meet is NATHANIEL. He has sparkling green eyes and doesn’t necessarily believe in a mate for life myth. Chloe is a freelance reporter who has no family, few friends and a life she is ok with. This is their tale.

NATHANIEL is a quick and dirty read. It is explicitly witten so you don’t have to use your imagination. I enjoyed the story and found myself skimming the more detailed interludes. It did NOT take away from the story.

This author writes very visually and I was able to see the locations she is writing about.

I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

Nathaniel (Dragon Hearts 1) by Carole Mortimer ~ Review by Liz Vrchota

Nathaniel (Dragon Hearts #1)Nathaniel by Carole Mortimer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Nathaniel is the first book in the Dragon Hearts series from Carole Mortimer. I have never read any of her work before so this was a new experience altogether for me. I jumped in with an open mind and was pretty pleased with what I found. There were a few things that I didn’t enjoy as much as I would have, and things I loved, so we will go pros/cons for this review.

Pros~ I loved the world building, I felt like I was visiting places that even though I know could never exist outside my mind, were so vividly real. This was a complete and short packaged novel, and the rest of the books are available so I don’t have to wait to grab the next one to find out what will come next. The MC’s have some awesome chemistry and it makes for some steamy yummy reads!

Cons~ I wanted to like the female MC, Chloe, and eventually I could tolerate her, but I just was so annoyed with her. I felt she was a bit overdone, and I couldn’t get passed it. The story took me awhile to get into. This was a difficult thing for me because it is a short novel. I really felt as if the pace could have just gone a bit faster for the first half of the book. Otherwise, the concept was good, storyline developed well, and the characters worked great together. I will be giving the next book in the series a try.

Nathaniel (Dragon Hearts #1)
By Carole Mortimer
Rated 4 stars

This is a wonderful story. It starts off with a sassy female arguing with a arrogant guy…..about territory. Their little stunt pulled me in and as the story moved forward it just didn’t let go. Sadly i had to go to work during a pivotal point (Deryk showing up) and I couldn’t get home fast enough. The characters were…well…dragons. That is exciting in itself but they also have that side that is Full Man. Encompassing all the irritating man traits mixed with possession and keeping treasure of the dragon side. Equals a story that will never be boring. A couple times I was thinking “He did What? And then dang if Chloe didn’t sass her way right back at him.

This book has it all! Great writing and a wonderful story. Out of this world characters. It just so happens that Nathaniel has seven brothers. All single and looking for their mate. I think there will be some stories in my future. Although we haven’t met them all I can’t wait!

Nathaniel is the 1st book in USA Today Bestselling and Amazon #1 author, Carole Mortimer’s, NEW paranormal series, DRAGON HEARTS.

Warriors, from the mists of time?
Dragons, of myth and legend?
Or both?

Taking a much-needed holiday in North Wales, journalist Chloe Evans discovers a castle not listed on any of the dozen or so maps she has of the area. The nearest thing she can find is the remains of a castle that used to be there but crumbled into ruin many centuries before. Her curiosity getting the better of her, Chloe decides to find out more about this imposing grey stone castle and anyone who might live there.

The locals, she discovers, call it Pendragon Castle. When Chloe asks them more probing questions some say there are half a dozen male members of the original family still in residence, and that they’re brothers. Others claim there to be more, or less, than that number. But all, without fail, describe those men as being big and muscular, more handsome than any man has a right to be, with eyes capable of mesmerizing and seducing any woman who falls under their spell. Some of those people add a knowing wink, others a warning not to venture too near the castle, and to certainly keep her distance from the men living there.

Visitors staying at the same small hotel as Chloe talk of seeing bright lights and helicopters landing on the mountain late at night, and of hearing strange noises that sound like the roars of wild animals.

There was a story here, Chloe is certain of it.

Whatever the story is regarding Pendragon Castle and the men who lived there, Chloe decides she isn’t leaving Wales until she’s discovered exactly what’s going on.

While exploring the area around the castle, Chloe is challenged by the dark and taciturn Nathaniel. A man who fits the description of the castle’s inhabitants exactly: well over six feet tall, handsome as sin, with shoulders wide enough to fill a doorway, and eyes the colour of the clearest emerald.

The moment she gazes into those mesmerizing green eyes Chloe realises she should have run while she still could.
