Captivity (Captivity Book 1) by Sarah Biglow and Molly Zenk

5 out of 5 stars

Captivity is the first book in the captivity series written by Sarah Biglow and Molly Zenk and it’s the first book that I have read by these authors. This is a Paranormal Romance with a twist where shifters are captive in the future and what will they risk to break free?

This is a story about lost love and new beginnings Lorelei, a siren, and she has spent the last three years searching for the man she loved after he was abducted in front of her. After he was abducted she went back to work for the PLA (Phoenix Location Agency) in hopes she would find her lost love. She takes a bounty for an escaped phoenix thinking it would be a quick job but she soon finds out it’s her lost love.
Aiden has no memory of the sultry siren who insists they were once in love. Rising from the ashes comes with a price— he’s a new person, with no memories of his former lives. After years of being kept in bird form to harvest his healing phoenix tears, Aiden is not the man Lorelei knew
When they both are taken in by the Magical Creature Underground, does reconciliation seems possible? Can Aiden and Lorelei reclaim their stolen past before the clock runs out? But there is a big twist and a big cliff hanger.
I highly recommend this book…

Time is running out for Aiden and Lorelei. Chased by a deadly shiver of sirens and plagued by disaster after disaster, they must fight at every turn for a chance at health and freedom in Sanctuary.

The blood graft stealing Aiden’s life is worsening. His only hope of lasting long enough to make the cross-country journey is to let Xander use phoenix tears to keep the Burning at bay. A sacrifice Aiden isn’t willing for Xander to make now that their relationship has a chance.

The hybrid baby growing double time inside Lorelei keeps her from being focused on the mission. As does Douglas’s ultimatum for their future. It’s throwing her off her game. That means she’s bound to make a mistake. One that could prove deadly for them all.

Their only hope of survival as they race across the barren wilderness is to rely on each other. With hearts and lives on the line, each decision Aiden and Lorelei make brings them one step closer to freedom…and one slip away from certain death.

Captivity (Captivity Book 1)Captivity by Sarah Biglow
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

New authors for me and I thought this book a was a good start for the series. This is a paranormal romance that was original and it kept me interested page after page. I thought the main characters were great and I felt for them when they were in trying situations. Aiden is a Phoenix shifter that has been held captive for a LONG TIME.. He’s finally got the chance to escape and runs as fast as he can to get away from his captives. Lorelei has been working undercover searching for Aiden and has been looking for him for years. When she finally catches up with him, he doesn’t recognize her as someone from his past and she has no clue how to proceed. Does she stay and help the people who have been helping him after he escaped or does she return to a job she isn’t sure about?
I am looking forward to reading more of this series because this one did end in a cliffhanger and I have so many questions I want to get answered! I would recommend this to a friend that like PNR!
Happy Reading!

Captivity: Captivity Book 1 by Sarah Biglow and Molly Zenk is a short paranormal novella. I was not sure exactly what to expect when I picked this up but I was not disappointed. This is a fast read and left me wanting more. The end is a bit abrupt but hopefully all will be answered in the next book in the series. I liked the characters and the world building. Also, the story was unique and was not a cookie cutter story. I was left at times wondering where everything was going. I will be looking forward to the next story in the series and reading more from these authors in the future.

Captivity is a brilliant fantasy read that held me captive until the very end. Sarah Biglow & Molly Zenk are new authors but after reading this I cant wait to read more by them, and what else they bring this series!
This was a quick read, but a read that was packed full of fantasy, action, adventure and suspense. It is a fast-paced read that leaves you wanting more with the anticipation of a terrific cliffhanger ending! Even though this read was quick it did flow and I loved that we get the characters POV’s throughout as it gives us a better understanding of them and their journey. These authors writing styles definitely draw you into this read and hooks you until you have completed it in one sitting, but with it comes a waiting game to find out what more is to come!

I’m so glad I got to experience this book, and I can’t wait to see where the rest will take us, but until then, don’t miss this read!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I give Captivity: A Paranormal Romance Novella by Molly Zenk & Sarah Biglow, 4 stars.

Aiden is a phoenix that has been held in captivity in bird form for so long that he can barely remember his human side. When he finally gets the chance to flee, he does. He runs into people that say they will help and protect him. And then there’s Lorelei.

Lorelei fell in love with a phoenix 3 years ago before he was taken from her. Since then, she has taken a job as a hunter, hoping to find him again. When she comes across a job that sounds like him, she jumps at it. She finally catches up with him, but he has no memory of her whatsoever. What is she to do now? The people Aiden is with do not trust her, all except the one who has feelings for Lorelei. Is she just chasing a dream with Aiden, or should she continue? Does she go back to her job or give it up to help these who are fighting for the right cause?

I enjoyed this book. It is not very long, but there is quite bit going on. There is romance as well as action. The story is unique to me, as well as the world the author has created. I cannot wait to read more in future books. The characters are interesting too. Each one other them is unique and multifaceted. Some of the secondary characters peeked my interest and I would love to learn more about them too in the future.

If you enjoy paranormal romance that features multiple types of creatures, this book is for you.

Captivity (Captivity Book 1)Captivity by Sarah Biglow
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

With Lorelei being a bounty hunter and Aiden having a huge chunk of his memory missing, it was very easy to get invested in this story. I can’t think of another one I’ve read where one of the characters was a phoenix so it was nice to get a little bit of variety in a genre that is pretty repetitive at times. The fact that when Aiden is reborn he loses his past memories was a very interesting concept to me and I immediately started thinking about how one would combat such a situation and what instances you could come up against that would put that in jeopardy. It reminded me a bit of one of my favorite books where every twelve years, everyone forgets everything. They write in books but books are easily destroyed with fire so that wouldn’t really be a good option for Aiden. As I’ve said before, I love any book that really gets me thinking so I’m sure I will read this one again and again.

Captivity (Captivity Book 1) By Sarah Biglow & Molly Zenk

5 Stars!!!!!

I love finding new authors and books. This was just such a great read. I found that the plot and characters were very addicting. I was glued from the first chapter and couldn’t put the book down. I must confess that this is the case most times as I love to read but I really love shifter and paranormal books.

Aiden and Lorelei have such a chemistry that it adds to the story. I like how the authors unfold the drama around them and that the story wasn’t predictable. I like how the authors use the lore around Phoenix and that along with the drama makes for a very addictive read. I will definitely be reading more of this series and these authors in the future.

This was an intriguing story with an original twist to it. It is set in a time where supernaturals are kept as pets in gilded cages. Aiden manages to escape and flies away. He was kept in his phoenix form for so long that when he changes into his human form, he is confused. The Magical Creature Underground brings him in and tries to help him. Lorelei works for the Phoenix Location Agency. She was hired to find Aiden and return him to his master. She manages to enter the Magical Creature Underground’s compound and realizes that Aiden is her lost love. When a phoenix rises again, they have no memory of their former lives. Aiden doesn’t remember Lorelei. Will she finish her job and return Aiden or can they rekindle the love they once had?

Interesting alliances are formed with surprising plot twists. Captivity will pull you in from the start and keep you wondering what will happen next. This is a quick, light read filled with action, surprises and a variety of fascinating characters. It is a delightful story that I’m so happy I read.

Captivity (Captivity Book 1)Captivity by Sarah Biglow
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

3 ½ Stars

Captivity is the first book in the Captivity series by Molly Zenk and Sarah Biglow. It is a novella length paranormal romance and is a quick and easy read. The premise intrigued me right away, and I couldn’t wait to find out all about the interesting characters we would meet along the way.
I liked the story, but I think it suffered a little by not being longer. The story felt a bit rushed in places, and I felt like we were getting the abbreviated version, like something was missing. I had questions that I think more background information and building more backstory would have helped answer. Also, even though they were really intriguing, I had a hard time connecting with the characters, even though I really wanted to- I mean A Siren and a Phoenix, original and cool- right? But I think my lack of connection was due to not ‘getting to know them’ enough. Don’t get me wrong, this story is enjoyable, but I feel it could have been even better if it had just a little extra development.
I am intrigued by the story and want to know what happens, especially since we end on a cliffhanger- so I will definitely have to read the next book to discover how things play out.

Thank you, Ms. Zenk and Ms. Biglow!

Captivity: A Paranormal Romance Novella is the awesome first book in the Captivity series by Sarah Biglow and Molly Zenk. I had not read any work by either of these authors before reading this book but I will definitely be reading more – in particular, the remainder of this series.
As this is a novella, it’s a very fast read. You feel that you are just getting into the story and starting to know the characters when the story abruptly ends, leaving you at a vital part of the story…arghhhh
I loved the main characters of Aiden and Lorelei. Lorelei is so sassy and not afraid to say what she’s thinking. The authors did a really good job of developing exciting characters. They provided detailed descriptions of how the characters looked so you could picture the scenes in your head more easily.
I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to see what the authors have in store for Aiden and Lorelei next.
If you are a fan of fantasy/paranormal then I’d definitely recommend this book for you.

Captivity was a really enjoyable novella, it may have been a short read but it absolutely was not short on anything at all! I was pulled into the story straight away and my interest was held from beginning to end. The two authors writing melded together seamlessly and it was like reading a book written by one author, their writing styles complemented each other perfectly. Shifter books are probably one of my favourite paranormal reads so this book was definitely going to be a hit with me. I loved Lorelei and Aiden’s story, I wanted to keep turning the pages just see how their story was going to end. Lorelei has a job to do but also she can’t help what happens when she finally sees Aiden after all these years!
This is just the start to this series and I cannot wait to read the next book and see what happens and where the authors take the storyline!

Captivity: A Paranormal Romance Novella (Captivity Book 1) by Sarah Biglow and Molly Zenk is a paranormal romance story that is original and tells the tale of shifters and another time. These magical characters were interesting and well-written and this story about love and hope, friends and fear, torture and breaking rules, but most of all it is about freedom and being who you are meant to be. The storyline flowed easily but we were left with a cliff hanger, I hate those but the story was good don’t get me wrong, I just hate cliff hangers.

Lorelei has been searching for the man that she loves who was taken from her. When she takes on her latest case, she finally knows what happened to him.

Aiden has escaped his latest captivity and has no memory of the woman who has been looking for him. They soon discover they are in the hunt for a cure to save his life but will they be too late to save not only him but her as well.

Captivity: A Paranormal Romance Novella by Sarah Biglow and Molly Zenk is a short exciting read. Sarah Biglow and Molly Zenk are new authors to me. I find that their writing style is one of mysteries, excitement, and over all easy to read. This story is about Lorelei and Aiden. Lorelei is a siren who is looking for her long lost boyfriend. Aiden is that long lost boyfriend, but there is a catch. Aiden is a Phoenix and he cannot remember any of his former lives. Aiden has a deadly poison running through his veins and Lorelei is the one that tries to help him. Will Lorelei be able to save Aiden? Will Aiden remember Lorelei from a past life? You will have to read the story to find out.

This was a super quick read and my first read by both of these authors, I completely enjoyed the whole story and if I didn’t know there were more books to read after this one I would have been sincerely upset with that ending but thankfully there is more to come.

I’m just beginning to read more paranormal fantasy type reads and although I did enjoy this, it moved quite fast and I didn’t have enough time to connect completely to these characters and really get a grasp on the whole shifter pet aspect. I am truly looking forward to reading more because my interest is definitely peaked and the writing styles of these authors was amazing.

I do recommend this especially to fantasy fans and can’t wait for the next.

Captivity (Captivity Book 1)Captivity
By: Sarah Biglow
My Rating: 4 of 5 stars

Captivity: A Paranormal Romance Novella by Molly Zenk & Sarah Biglow was a unique heart clutching read, that had me hooked from start to finish.

My first read from both authors, I didn’t know what I was getting into; but I’m glad I took a chance on this short yet powerful read. It’s told from dual POV, and I like that we get both side to this tragic love story. It starts out dark, and it was that darkness that pulled me in, and as the story switches’ POV’s, as I’ve said, we get both sides of the coin, and two sides of different darknesses.

Now as this is a novella, and is only about 119 pages, this book moves fast and it does end on a very abrupt cliffhanger. But there are other books in the series, so all is not lost. Though I don’t mind if there’s cliffhangers, this one just felt off, as it was more like the story stopped, rather then ending in mystery. It’s hard to explain in words what I mean, like a song ending on a fade out, vs one just ending, I guess is a good way to put it.

Overall though, this book was unique, original and flowed with a smooth rhythm that you can’t help but get sucked into. I loved the writing style and I loved the way the two MC’s had to untangled the mess of their love. And of course the suspense and action that came with it. This book is worth your time and energy, and it gets my super high recommedantion and my stamp of approval.

Happy Reading

The story Captivity: A Paranormal Romance Novella (Captivity Book 1) by Sarah Biglow and Molly Zenk is a wonderful paranormal book. It pulls you in right from the beginning and I found myself not wanting to put it down until I had finished the last page. I liked the world-building that is done and also reading about the magical creatures that are introduced. I loved reading about Lorelei and Aiden. Lorelei is a siren who has been searching for the man that she loves. He was abducted. She finds him when on a mission to find an escaped phoenix. Aiden is free however has no memory of Lorelei and the time they were together. A deadly poison flows through his veins. What will the future hold for Aiden and Lorelei? Will they be able to restart their relationship? Will they get the cure for the poison? Read this book to find out what happens. I loved the characters of Lorelei and Aiden with each chapter that I read. Lorelei is a woman who has conflicted emotions and doesn’t get close to those around her. There is interesting and intriguing dialogue and the story makes me want to know more about all of the characters. Don’t miss out on a book that you won’t be able to put down. I highly recommend reading it.

I enjoyed these characters. They bring the story to life and kept me sitting on the edge of my seat just waiting to see what will happen next. I highly recommend this book.

Like the identity of her new Sufferer, Micah Ward… and the fact that behind his kind smile is a life filled with loneliness and pain.
The closer Neve grows to Micah, the more desperate she becomes to protect him from a cruel and gruesome fate. Born to Fight (Can’t Resist You, #1) by Brittany Anne – Review by Emily Walsh

Born to Fight (Can't Resist You, #1)Born to Fight
ByBrittany Anne
My Rating: 5 of 5 stars

Born to Fight (Can’t Resist You, #1) by Brittany Anne was a raw, too real, feels gripping, post-apocalyptic read, that had me hooked from start to finish.

Wow what a read! My first read by this author and I am impressed, more than impressed I just found a treasure and I need more. This sci-fi dystopian read is unique, original and it is hooking. The tone, and writing rhythm has a oomph that instantly pulls you into the story. It’s been awhile since a dystopian has hooked me like this, and it has rekindled a lost love that I didn’t know was gone.

Told in multi POV we get this tale from both our MC’s, and seeing it that way, especially this type of romance, really adds na extra layer of realism, and gets you more connected to this characters. There is a weird magic about it, and frankly I believe that all romance no matter what genre should be told in dual POV. It’s proven in the way this story was executed.

Now outside of the love plot the world building was pretty freaking cool. It paints a devastating picture of what could happen if we lose our insta world connecting, electricity and satellites. It makes you feel the dread, and adds a very dark and gritty element, making the love plot that much more raw and compelling.

Overall this book is a must read, it has everything you’ve been wanting in a, or better yet it has everything you didn’t know you wanted in a post-apocalyptic romance, that may be doomed before it even starts. So please take my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval that you will not be able to put this book down once you start.

Happy Reading

Can’t Forget (Solum Series Book 2) by Colleen S. Myers – Review by Emily Walsh

Can't ForgetCan’t Forget
ByColleen S. Myers
My Rating: 4 of 5 stars

Can’t Forget by Colleen S. Myers was a fast pace, epic science fiction fantasy drama, that has me hooked just as must as the first book.

The second book in the Solum Series, is a continuations series so I highly suggest you read the first book, as it will give you much needed backstory and get a better understanding of Bata and Marin. I very much enjoyed reading about Bata and Marin, it fit better in this book and actually added something good to the plot and at times drove it forward.

What I will say, and something I find irritating with female MC’s/the hero; was that she fell into the whole,I can do it myself trope. She didn’t listen to reason and, it bit her hard in the behind. But it’s like TV, no matter what I mutter into the book she’s an’t going to listen. I do get it, I do, it moves the story forwards, crates drama, and a deadly situation. I just didn’t like the whole “You can’t tell me what to do!” trope. No one likes to be told what they can and can’t do. But sometimes, closing your mouth and processing why a person is asking you not to do something dangerous, could save your life. I’m in the military, so I know this, teach this and stress this, to my young subordinates that have the same attitudes.

Outside of that, like the first book, we are still getting pieces of Bata’s past, this drives not only the plot but the reader. The authors does this through flashbacks, and they’re pretty intense. There is bit of a plot bomb towards the end, and you are going to have your mouths opened. I’m not going to say, cause I don’t want to ruin a thing about this original read. Not only is the writing smooth and easy to follow but the raw emotions that it’s lace with, will pull at your hearts string, snapping them, making you feel for Bata, and for the hell that she went through.

Overall this book, this series is a must read. I give this book my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval. It’s truly something special and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book.

Happy Reading.

The Last Keeper of the Light: A dystopian fantasy by Nikki Broadwell ~ Review by Liz Vrchota

The Last Keeper of the Light: a dystopian fantasyThe Last Keeper of the Light: a dystopian fantasy by Nikki Broadwell
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Nikki Broadwell was a new author to me when I picked up The Last Keeper of the Light, but I can promise you she will be on my radar from now on. I must say this novel really captivated my attention from beginning to end. There was never a dull moment and really it honestly had me thinking deeply throughout.

Based off some great Hopi Indian lore it incorporates dystopian post-apocalyptic thrills that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Sandal was a fun and unique character that I found really compelling and fun to read as well. On top of all the great story plot, and characters, is a great world building and detailed descriptions of a world that may seem so very far away in a reality, but yet you feel as if you are walking alongside the Sandal and experiencing things firsthand. I can’t wait to see what else we will get from Nikki Broadwell!

Lovelock Ones by Tricia Copeland – Review by Amber Lange

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Lovelock by Tricia Copeland was a dystopian and sci fi novel with tons of excitement and action. This was a super fast read that had me on the edge of my seat the entire time waiting to see what happened. The author kept me guessing the whole way and I didn’t know what was going to happen until the end. I could of easily read this in one setting but decided to spread it out. I really enjoyed it and I enjoyed the characters and the authors writing style. I would definitely read others by this author. Dystopian books are some of my favorites. I really liked all the scientific aspects added in as well. Overall I enjoyed this book and would rate it 4 stars!

The Last Keeper of the Light: a dystopian fantasy by Nikki Broadwell

5 Stars

I finished this book about 20 minutes ago and have been sitting here staring at my screen trying to figure out how to write a review that will even come close to the brilliance this book carries.

Let me start with I like dystopian stories but I have a hard time reading them because I get lost in the storyline or sometimes they are a little over the top. This one…WOW is the main thought in my mind.

“We have met the enemy and he is us” ~Pogo Possum

That right there at the start of this story says it all and the Prophecies of the Hopi Indians that have been passed down through the years..holy moly. I’ll be honest as well, I’ve already googled the Hopi tribe, I just had to know if they were real.

I guess what got me most throughout this whole story was how real it felt, this could sincerely be something that happens and I followed every single word, I was hooked right from the start, it didn’t take a few pages to get there, I was there. Sandal’s journey was one I would not have the strength or courage to ever take and because of all of who she was and became in this story I think she has become my favorite book heroine ever! I’m not even going to go into the storyline, the author has exactly the right amount in her synopsis and it was enough to draw me in and will have a hold of me for quite some time. I know for a fact the thoughts I have after reading this will be thoughts that stay with me from now on.

I have no other words except this author has blown me away, shattered me, and all I can think of is I want to read it again and I need to recommend it so I can talk about it. This was my first book by this author and its safe to say I will be reading any and everything she writes..coming away from the story itself and looking only at the writing talent she is out of this world amazing.

Thank you Thank you Thank You Nikki Broadwell! This might just be my favorite read so far this year!

Brilliant!!
