Climbing The Walls (Hart & Cole Book 1) by Sacha T. Y. Fortuné – Review by Emma Clawson

Climbing The Walls (Hart & Cole Book 1)Climbing The Walls by Sacha T.Y. Fortuné
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

If you’re looking for a romance read that will rattle you and characters that will change you then this is the book for you. It is told by two different point of views so it does interchange between characters. This novel, in my opinion, reflects real life events. The emotion that is shown in the writing is so raw that it makes your heart hurt for the main characters. In this novel, happy isn’t something that comes easy in the end. It tells that love is worth fighting for.

Beckoned (Born of Darkness, Book 1)Beckoned by R.B. Fields
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Beckoned: Born of Darkness is a wonderful read. From the first page I loved it. It just socks you right in and has you engrossed. This is definitely a recommended read. Sexy vampires with attitudes, a strong female hunter what’s not to love about this novel? The Born of Darkness series is a very steamy reverse harem paranormal romance that features one badass female hunter, her four fated vampire mates, and provocative MFMMM scenes. Not for anyone under the age of 18. R. B. Fields is an absolute genius when it comes to imagination.

A Tennis Pro To Die For by Judy Moore is the third book in the Cozy Mysteries to Die for series by Judy Moore. Moore’s attention to detail about the dark underside of the tennis pro circuit is intriguing. Another great mystery starring Beck O’Rourke. A Hole (Alpha Bet Guys Book 1) by Phoebe Alexander – Review by Emma Clawson

A HoleA Hole by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

A Hole by Phoebe Alexander is the first in the Alpha Bet Series. It’s a novella length rom com type. Ace & Ella’s story is different when it comes to romance. Ace is a comedian, Ella a bank teller. I gave this novella three stars because it was hard for me to get into it. Phoebe Alexander is a wonderful and talented writer, but for some reason this novella didn’t grab my attention the way her other novels have. A Hole is hilarious and funny but can be series when needs to be.

Price of a Rose: A Beauty & Beast Tale (Historical Fantasy Fairytale Retellings Book 2)Price of a Rose: A Beauty & Beast Tale by Byrd Nash
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a retelling of Beauty and the Beast. The author brings strong characters and does a beautiful job painting her scenes perfectly. Price of a Rose, the second book in the Historical Fantasy Fairytale Retellings series. Lily is the oldest and who has had the responsibility of running the household at a very young age since the passing of their mother. Rose is the middle daughter, who is a bit of a rebel dabbling in gardening, which is considered “man’s work”. Then there’s Poppy who is a book worm with a passion for magic. Byrd Nash has an uncanny way of writing, old-style with a fresh, new outlook.

Third Time's a Ghost: A Ghostly Paranormal Romance (Haunted Ever After, #3)Third Time’s a Ghost: A Ghostly Paranormal Romance by Carrie Pulkinen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Third Time’s a Ghost: A Ghostly Paranormal Romance (Haunted Ever After, #3) by Carrie Pulkinen is a fun paranormal rom-com mystery/thriller. Pulkinen hasn’t disappointed in this series. I would say it is a must read. Third Time’s a Ghost had lots of fun and witty banter. Pulkinen knows how to pull in her readers with lovable characters and a story that is intriguing. Paranormal investigator and IT genius Gage Dawson sucks at dating. Psychic medium Erica Miller is struggling to make her haunted community theater a success. Erica hasn’t seen Gage since high school. The nerdy boy-next-door she once called her best friend has grown into a man.

Something in the house wants Trent dead. As he battles to win the affections of the sultry real estate agent, he’s also fighting for his life. Successful big-city lawyer, Trent Austin, does not have time for the run-down Victorian house he just inherited from a crazy uncle. Nobody Knows (Razes Hell Book 1) by Kyra Lennon – Review by Emma Clawson

Nobody KnowsNobody Knows by Kyra Lennon
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Nobody knows how deep their issues run; nobody but Ellie. With friendship, a music career and a new love on the line, can Ellie keep their tangled pasts from ruining their futures? Nobody Knows is the first book in the Razes hell series and can be read as a standalone. We get a peek into the lives of rock stars with the sex, drugs, and rock ‘n roll. It’s written realistically in that we see people with glowing talent and glaring flaws. The characterization is fantastic and spurs the plot ahead. Kyra Lennon’s version of romance is real, and messy and complicated. Lennon has an amazing way of putting you right in the middle of the story so that you really feel part of that world.

Love at First Haunt (Haunted Ever After Book 1) by Carrie Pulkinen – Review by Emma Clawson

Love at First Haunt: A Ghostly Paranormal Romance (Haunted Ever After Book 1)Love at First Haunt: A Ghostly Paranormal Romance by Carrie Pulkinen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a story that grabbed my attention from the beginning. I loved the characters Allison Gray and Logan Mitchell. Instead of love at first sight like most love stories, this one is love because of a haunting by a ghost. The novel is an amazing read. Logan is an empath but he doesn’t know. He meets Alison and his life changes. She teaches him how to block his empath abilities and shows him what love really is. Romance and paranormal go great together. Love at First Haunt: A Ghostly Paranormal Romance (Haunted Ever After Book 1) by Carrie Pulkinen is a rom com, contemporary romance, and thriller. It is the first book in a new series from Carrie and this genre is something that she does oh so well.

Hungry Business: A Short Story by Maria DeBlassie – Review by Emma Clawson

Hungry Business: A Short StoryHungry Business: A Short Story by Maria DeBlassie
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Maria DeBlassie paints a vivid picture of life in the aftermath of a Zombie virus outbreak. This novella is about of an introvert with a strong will to survive. This short story answers enough questions to leave the reader willing to accept that this is where the story ends. However, would make a great beginning to a new series that revolves around this new world. This novella is great for those that enjoy reading horror, suspense, dark humor, apocalyptic science fiction, or zombie stories in general. Maria has the knack for writing quirky, original and unusual stories. She is well versed in this way and can’t wait to read another novel by her. While this novella did have me confused at first, it does get better.

Can they stop the body count from rising, or will they find their only purpose from the start was to be pawns? This is a standalone novel but to better understand Dolan, I recommend reading book 1 first. Abbie Roads is a wonderful author. She doesn’t disappoint the reader. Step into another wonderful world full of twists and turns. The best way to describe this series is combination of paranormal and suspense.

Killer Blonde by Allan Evans – Review by Emma Clawson

Killer BlondeKiller Blonde by Allan Evans
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This novel has it all: murder, mystery, hidden agendas, plots, politics, rivalry, a lot at stake, dramatic developments, danger, tension, and even a little romance. The interesting part about the story was the serial killer’s point of view. What he may plan next was what kept me going on. This novel had me putting it down a lot because it was getting to be a bit much. The characters are great but when things pop up in the middle that doesn’t have any relevance to the story it gets a bit confusing for me. Overall it is a great read as long as your not a blonde.

Black Dog Rising by Kat Caulberg – Review by Emma Clawson

Black Dog RisingBlack Dog Rising by Kat Caulberg
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Black Dog Rising takes place in Ninestone Downs, a sleepy country village where people still whisper of fairies and a hellish phantom canine prowls its streets. The female character, Emma Aubrey, is forced to flee her ex-boyfriend and the vengeful ghost of his dead wife. The male character is Toby Deering and he has no more room in his life for the paranormal. He’s got secrets of his own. This novel is a romance novel with a twist. Kat Caulberg has a wonderful fun imagination and it shows in her writing. I had to reread this novel because it is that good. I do recommend this to anyone who is into paranormal and/or romance.

Bound by Secrets (Deadly Isles Special Ops Series Book 2) by Amy McKinley – Review by Emma Clawson

Bound by Secrets (Deadly Isles Special Ops, #2)Bound by Secrets by Amy McKinley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Don’t judge a book by its cover alone. While the cover has a great eye catcher, its the blurb that gets you more interested in the novel. While reading this novel, I kept thinking that it is so far from a typical romance novel based on the cover. It has action, sadness, regret, you name it. While the male character may be on the front of the novel, it’s female character that really pulls you in. Who doesn’t like reading about a fragile yet strong female? Amy McKinley is a talented and superb author and her Deadly Isles Op series is just as great.

Mythical Alliance: Phoenix Team: The Complete Season (Mythical Alliance Series #1-6)Mythical Alliance: Phoenix Team: The Complete Season by Claire Luana
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Claire Luana has another winner with the Mythical Alliance Phoenix Team. This fantasy adventure feels like you’re part of it, with mythological creatures with a great cast and kept me engaged from start to finish. While this is a complete series, it is composed of individual “episodes” or novellas to read. Each one can be read as a standalone, but since this is the complete set no need. Once you finish one episode, you start reading the next, which is really awesome because you don’t have to wait for the next episode to come out. Claire Luana is wonderful and talented author with a vivid imagination that just pulls you, the reader, right in.

Stormy’s Thunder is the second book in this series and while it can be read as a standalone, I suggest that you read book one first. Stormy is the main character in this novel and he has some proving to do. Manda Mellett is a wonderful and imaginative author. She knows exactly how to write an MC novel. When reading any novel by Manda Mellett you get sucked in and can’t put the novel down. This is one of the hallmarks of a wonderful and stunning writer.

Cursed Sight (Broderick Coven Series Book 2) by AJ Renee – Review by Emma Clawson

Cursed Sight (Broderick Coven, #2)Cursed Sight by A.J. Renee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Right of the bat, this novel grabbed by attention. I couldn’t put it down. AJ Renee is by far one of the most talented paranormal authors that I have had the pleasure of reading. Ethan and Serena are the main characters in this novel and they both fight to save Serena from almost certain death. While this novel is book two in the series it can be read as a standalone novel. I would recommend that you read book one first as the supporting characters are in book one. This novel is filled with amazing scenes that will make your imagination spin. AJ Renee has done an excellent job with this novel an I can’t wait to read more in this series.

Askew Ever AfterAskew Ever After by Aubrey Wynne
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is a wonderful collection. Out of all the novels in this collection, Paper Love by Aubrey Wynne is what caught my attention the most. Mainly because the character is more like me than others. Paper Love is sort of a misleading title but after reading it I can understand why Ms. Wynne used that title. Joss is a wonderful female lead character and the novel revolves around her and her love life or lack of one. When she does meet someone, she can’t help but wonder.

Twisted Secrets

Twisted Secrets by Amy McKinley
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This novel left me wanting. While I never ever judge a book by it’s cover, this one looked really intriguing. However, after I started reading the novel it seemed kind of dry. Amy McKinley is a wonderful and talented writer. This novel had a great story line. It just wasn’t delivered in a relatable way. After the first few chapters it left me wondering what was happening and I was confused. I get that not all novels are relatable, but this one should have been. At least somewhat relatable. It is beautifully written though and McKinley does deserve credit because she has written wonderful novels before. Now this is one readers opinions and not meant to persuade anyone either way. Try the novel yourself and see if you like it. You never know you may.
