Secure Boxed Set: Chase Security Series Books 1-3 by R.L. Dunn – Review by Erica Fish

Secure Boxed Set (Chase Security #1-3)Secure Boxed Set by R.L. Dunn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This box set is one of my favorite ones to get comfy and get lost in the world R.L. Dunn has written about. Each book has its own storyline and couple it is focused on. Chase Security is made up of former military elite. There is a case that comes along that needs Chase Security expertise. There is also a lovely woman that the main character meets and wants to start a relationship with. There are times when the mood gets hot and heavy. It is an enjoyable read. I highly recommend this box set as all the books are intriguing, and full of adventure and excitement.

Urban Justice (A Chicago Vigilantes Novel Book 2) by India Kells – Review by Erica Fish

Urban Justice (A Chicago Vigilantes Novel #2)Urban Justice by India Kells
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the second book in the two-book series. I have enjoyed both books, but I think that I like the second book slightly more. India Kells has been my go-to author when I am looking for a juicy book to read. The action and adventures pulled me in from the beginning. I kept turning the pages and I had to read this in one sitting. The book is about a group of crimefighters that are a Vigilante group. The leader is a woman, Sloane who happens to be a police officer who works with this group. They are out to get the Phantom who is terrorizing Chicago. There may be a love relationship steaming between Sloane and one of the vigilante members. Can Sloane and the Vigilante stop the Phantom? Will they be the group that keeps Chicago safe? I highly recommend reading this book to find out the answers to these questions and much more.

Cuckoo Clock - New York (Unbroken Bonds Book 3)Cuckoo Clock – New York by Elisabeth Marrion
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This story is about a historical point in the world before WWII, Elisabeth Marrion is a new author for me. I would have to say that the historical genre is not one of my favorite genres, I have to admit that I enjoyed this story. Elisabeth Marrion put her heart and soul into this book to tell Esther’s story. There is a whole world that has a different history than America. I fell in love with Esther’s story and I highly recommend this book. I have changed now that I know her story. I highly recommend this book to see history from a different point of view.

StarvationStarvation by Molly Fennig
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first book I have read by Molly Fennig. This is a great YA book. It deals with a subject matter that is sensitive in nature. It is about eating disorders. It is an emotional read. The characters are well developed and are complicated. This book is a roller coaster ride for emotions. This story is about Wes, a not so popular teen. His brother on the other hand was very popular. This all changes in a minute. Wes is thrown into the spotlight and that is when the eating disorder takes over. Will Wes come to terms with what is happening to him or will he make matters worse? Can Wes step out from his brother’s shadow and start changing other’s idea about him? I highly recommend reading this book as it takes on tough situations. First, We Kill All the Lawyers (Donovan Trait Series) by Seelie Kay – Review by Erica Fish

First, We Kill All the LawyersFirst, We Kill All the Lawyers by Seelie Kay
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have read other books by Seelie Kay, but I have to say this one is my favorite one so far. This is not your normal vampire book. The storyline is interesting and fun. There are some points that I had to go back and reread because I did not see the twist coming right at me. The characters are complex and interesting. The characters really bring the story to life. Donavan is a lawyer by day and a vampire by night. He has stumbled across a case in which someone is killing the lawyers. This is not a problem for Donavan as he is already dead. However, Donavan’s duo life is not public knowledge. The lawyer killer is out there but who will be the killer’s target since Donavan can not be killed? Can Donavan find the killer’s identity before it is too late? I highly recommend this story to find out the answers to these questions and more.

The Bullet Theory (Dr. Nolan Mills Book 1) by Sonya Jesus – Review by Erica Fish

The Bullet Theory (Dr. Nolan Mills, #1)The Bullet Theory by Sonya Jesus
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Psychological Mystery that will make you think twice before going to therapy.

This book was amazing. Psychological mystery is my favorite genre. I have read several books by Sonya Jesus before but this one is my favorite (for now). Her storytelling has so many details that it paints a picture in my mind that I cannot forget. She leaves details everywhere but if you are not paying attention you will miss the subtle clue. Her characters are complex and realistic. I find myself relating to the characters and I feel like I am having a relationship with them. This story took me on a roller coaster ride of a lifetime. I was bracing myself because there were so many twists and turns. There was more than one time that I thought I knew exactly what was going on and then BAM! The unexpected twist comes into play. In this story, Eleanor is having a relationship fall apart before her eyes, She wants revenge for what she has gone through. That is until her fiancé makes her talk to a therapist. This is where the story picks up. You will have to read the book to see what happens next. I highly recommend this book to see what happens next. You will not believe your eyes.

Mark Nolan is a mastermind. Dead Lawyers Don’t Lie kept me on a roller coaster ride of emotions. It held my attention from the first paragraph until the last word. The characters are fully developed and complex. Throughout the story, there is a roller coaster ride that keeps the story moving. “The Artist” had decided to assassinate wealthy lawyers. He has put Jake Wolfe on his sites because of a photo. Jake decides to take the chase to The Artist. Can Jake keep his loved one safe? Will Jake find “The Artist” before his loved ones get hurt? I highly recommend this story. The overall theme of the stories is about the animal and human relationship. Individual stories show the love, trust, and heartwarming of these relationships. The stories show the unconditional love from the pet to their human. There are life issues but it shows how the pets can heal each person differently. I was hooked from the beginning because I believe in the healing power of the love between the animal and human. Clare Johnson’s tale of Jesus’ birth is beautifully illustrated. The book is a poetry in motion book. In the abstract of the story, there is a separate message of acceptance, social diversity, and love of your neighbors. This story is about a shepherd girl who loves someone above her social status. The lessons told throughout the story can be life lessons for the young and the young at heart. I enjoyed this tale of The First Noel and I recommend it for all ages.

Grumbler's Ride (Satan's Devils MC San Diego #2)Grumbler’s Ride by Manda Mellett
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have read all of the other Satan’s Devils that Manda Mellett has written. I knew I would not be disappointed when I picked this book up to read. This is Grumblers and Mary’s story. Grumbler is a senior member of the Satan’s Devils San Diego MC. He has given all his life for that lifestyle. His bike is his old lady. He does not regret his life’s choices one bit. Then there is Mary. She is a mother of a seventeen year old daughter. That is enough said about that lifestyle. Grumbler and Mary meet and that is when everything starts to get interesting. There are some dark places that may trigger some emotions. I found that this story is a bit slower moving but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. I recommend this series to everyone. There is a little bit of something for everyone.

The Opposite of AddieThe Opposite of Addie by Julie C. Gardner
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Opposite of Addie is a well thought out novel about friendship and secrets. I could feel the love the author put into the story. She really made the story come to life with her storytelling and character building. This story had me on an emotional ride because of the characters. I felt like I personally knew them and could feel exactly what Addie was going through. In this story, Addie has been through some rough heartaches. She finds herself as a single mom. She left Jake, the father and never told him that he was a father. This was a big secret to keep from him. Jake finds Addie and his daughter and he is bound to be with Addie to help raise his daughter. There was a secret Jake was holding on too as well. What will Addie do? My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Karma’s Karnival by Aubrey Wynne is one of the books in the Soul’s Day Boxset. Let me tell you that all the books in this Halloween Anthology are amazing but the best one for me is Karma’s Karnival. I had to read this book in the middle of the day because I was a little scared of what was going to be coming around every corner. When you go to Karnival’s custom sideshow, you will always get a prize. It may not be the one you are thinking of but there is a winner. This sideshow is dark and you can see in your mind’s eye everything because of Aubrey Wynne’s descriptive writing. I highly recommend this story. The other books in this anthology are good too. The authors have come together with eye-opening horror and paranormal storylines in everyone. If you are looking for a spooky read I recommend all of these books.
