Distant Heart SoundsDistant Heart Sounds by Kate MacInnis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

If you are looking to read a fun exciting short read, look no further this book is for you. In everything that is going on around us in the world, we need to find something to get lost in for a while. The story is a simple plot line. What makes this story great is the characters. The characters are adorable. Morgan is a nurse who does not believe in paranormal anything until she had a near-death experience. That opened her eyes to a lot of things. While she was skeptical at the beginning, she finally learns that she needs to be open to different things. She realizes that she in fact has feelings for a special doctor. This book has a little bit of everything, romance, humor, and mystery. I highly recommend this story as it will be a short fast read.

HIGH FLYER (Verdant String) by Michelle Diener – Review by Erica Fish

High Flyer (Verdant String, #4)High Flyer by Michelle Diener
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a fast paced science fiction story. I was not familiar with Michelle Diener. Her imagery painted a beautiful picture in my mind’s eye. The story is full of action and adventure. The characters are engaging and full of zeal. There is not a dull moment with constant moving between scenes that is happening. The content is sci-fi, action, adventure, fantasy, and romance. Hana flys the head-of-planet around and is a challenge that she loves. Iver does not think that he did not gain the role of head-of-planet. He is up to the challenge of making the tech work with the magnetic fields on Faldien. Iver has his eyes wet on Hana but does Hana feel the same way? There is trouble coming for Iver. Will the trouble be too great for him? Will Hana help him with the danger? Can she keep running with Iver to keep them safe? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens to Hana and Iver.

Rescued by Valan (The Pirates of Barra: Highland Raiders) by Jennifer Siddoway – Review by Erica Fish

Rescued by Valan (The Pirates of Barra: Highland Raiders, #2)Rescued by Valan by Jennifer Siddoway
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is my first historical pirate romance story. I would have to say that this story grabbed me from the first page until the last. The story’s foundation is solid which makes it believable. The characters are complex and fully developed. I love the idea that a pirate learns to love more than the sea air and the treasure they find/loot/steal. Valen is a new captain of a pirate ship. He thought that he would never have romance as his life is on the seas. That all halted when he found Lady Bridget. He has fallen for her but there is one problem, she is betrothed to another man. There are some tough decisions that Lady Bridget needs to make and Valen needs to live with the decisions that she makes. Will the high seas call to Lady Bridget? Can Valen be a new captain and respect the decisions that are made? Will he fight for the woman he falls for? I highly recommend reading this story to find out these answers and so much more.

Rose by Any Other Name (The Sisters, Texas Series, Book 10) by Becki Willis – Review by Erica Fish

Rose by Any Other Name (The Sisters, Texas #10)Rose by Any Other Name by Becki Willis
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I cannot believe I have not read any of the others in this series. Becki Willis is a mastermind. In this book there are technically two mysteries going on at the same time. The stories flowed well together that I never got the two mysteries confused. The characters do make up the stories. They are complex and fully developed. The first mystery is a new woman is moving into the town and all the women are trying to figure her out. They want to know everything about this newcomer. The second story is about Blake and his summer job. He gathers up his sisters and forms a junior detective group. I highly recommend this story to find out if both parties figure out what is happening. I cannot wait to go back and read some other Becki Willis stories.

DEADLY WEAPON (Jake Wolfe Book 5) by Mark Nolan – Review by Erica Fish

Deadly Weapon (Jake Wolfe #5)Deadly Weapon by Mark Nolan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have read all of Jake Wolfe’s adventures. I love each one more than the last one. Mark Nolan is a mastermind. He makes Jake go through some incredible adventures. In this one Jake deals with a psycho who is trying to change it. Like the other Jake’s stories there is a lot of action. That is one great thing about Mark Nolan, he keeps the readers engaged with all of the twists and turns, I was at the edge of my seat several times. I recommend all of Jake Wolfe’s stories, but this one is my favorite. I cannot wait to see what is next for Jake.

Drifting, Falling: Diary of a Call Girl Suicide by A.J. Ullman – Review by Erica Fish

Drifting, Falling -- Diary of a Call Girl SuicideDrifting, Falling — Diary of a Call Girl Suicide by A.J. Ullman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Emotional story. Keep Kleenex nearby because you will need it.

When I saw the title of this book, I knew I was going to have to read this book. A.J. Ullman has taken a serious topic of suicide and made it into a story that everyone needs to read. Once a person decided that life is not worth living, it is one that those around them are baffled that they could do such a thing. This is a story that brings to light a tragic subject matter. People have demons and most do not know that this thought is going through the mind of the person. Ripley has many demons and her story brought tears to my eyes and pain in my heart. There were moments that I felt I could not read another word but I needed to see what was coming next for Ripley. The character of Ripley can be anyone in your life. She is smart, kind, loving, and haunted by her past. Sound like anyone you know? It is an emotional roller coaster ride, but it is one that I highly recommend. Make sure you have plenty of Kleenex by you because you will need it. It is a solemn read but an eye-opening one. Dare I say, I loved this story because it really pointed out suicide and what someone goes through while making that decision.

Build-A-Book WorkshopBuild-A-Book Workshop by Danielle Ackley-McPhail
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is not my typical book choice to read. I found this book an interesting guide on how to book. I have to admit I know a lot about copyright, but never know the other end of the book world. This shows the way to put together a book that one day you could possibly publish your own book. If you have ever had a dream of publishing a book, I would recommend reading this book as a starting block on your way to publishing a book.

It Comes From Within (House Valdis Book 2) by Naomi Valkyrie – Review by Erica Fish

It Comes From Within (House Valdis #2)It Comes From Within by Naomi Valkyrie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This the second book in the series and I highly recommend reading the first book in the series. This will provide you with the back story and introduce the characters. The description is a fantasy genre but it has many more elements in the story. There is sci-fi, danger, responsibility, secrets, tension, romance and magic to name a few. When the author has a vivid imagination, it makes the story come to life. It is what holds my attention from the very first page until the last page. Character building and relations also keeps the book interesting. In this particular story, I enjoyed the roller coaster ride I took with Xenobia. Xenobia’s storyline continues in book two. She is getting into every bit of trouble, not by her doing but by shadows she does not realize they are around. Danger is present and there is a crisis in the House of Valdis. There is drama and adventure around every corner. I will leave the review with this keep your mind totally open and the images will come to you. Enjoy the series and I cannot wait until the next book.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I would have to say that this is one of my favorites from Valerie Davisson. Her writing style is what holds my attention from the first page until the last. You need to pay attention to your surroundings because you may be missing so clues to assist you in the mystery. The story is about the property that is in high demand. Logan has a new murder to investigate. The characters are what keeps this thriller alive. It was quite dark when I finish and the little hairs on the back of my neck were standing on edge. I wanted Logan to help me get through the aftermath of the murder. Logan is a great character who has grown with every murder. I highly recommend this book for you to grow with Logan as well.

This the second book in the Chase Security Series and I have to say that it is better than the first. I recommend reading the first book to enjoy this installment. The agency has former Navy Seal Martin, as the CEO of Chase Security and he is transiting into the role nicely. Martin’s brother, Austin was shot and his high school sweetheart Elizabeth was the surgeon for his brother. Will Martin and Elizabeth restart their high school fling? I have enjoyed all of the different chapters. This is the first book in Satan’s Devils in Utah. The one thing I love about Manda Mellett writing style. She writes about hot bikers and the people surrounding them. The characters are fully developed and can be a part of our world. I like it though because I can be transported to their world. The attention to detail is off the chain. You can paint a beautiful picture with the details Mellett gives you. I highly recommend you read this steamy sexy biker story to see what I was talking about.

Enchanted Passion The Protectors Series Book 4Enchanted Passion The Protectors Series Book 4 by Toya Richardson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this book. In this story there are shifters, elementals, and witches. The plotline moves quickly, but not so quick that you do not know what is going on. There are twists and turns, ups and downs, and even loopy loops. That is what kept me reading until I was done. The characters are fully developed and engaging. There is something about Luna that I have really enjoyed. I could see myself being her friend. What can I say about Rhy except Luna is attracted to him. It seems as if Rhy is interested in Luna. There is one little problem. There is something that is keeping them away from each other. Does Rhy and Luna ever overcome this problem? Will they separate without knowing if they could be together? I highly recommend reading this book to get to the answers of these questions and many more.

Accountability (Scope of Practice Book 3) by Jessica Aiken-Hall – Review by Erica Fish

Accountability (Scope of Practice #3)Accountability by Jessica Aiken-Hall
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Jessica Aiken-Hall does it again. I will get this out of the way. This is the 3rd book in the Scope of Practice, with that being said I highly recommend reading book 1 and 2 first. With that being down and out of the way, this story is excellent. Jessica Aiken-Hall is a talented storyteller. Her plotline is engaging and full of twists and turns that will keep you on your toes. The twists and turns, ups and downs, and dead stop happen throughout the story. I found myself turning the pages quickly to get through the next point in the story. I love her characters and Valerie is the bomb. She has some skeletons that come to light in one phonecall. She has trust issues and now she is finding a hard time to trust moving forward. She is having a hard time knowing what she should do about Dr. Chad Ross. Should he be accountable for his actions? Will Valerie keep things as they are right now or will there be some changes? I highly recommend this series.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Secure Desire by R. L. Dunn is not your typical romance story. R. L. Dunn wrote characters that were believable and lovable. This story takes you on a journey with Chase and Cassie. Be prepared because it is a roller coaster ride but it is worth all the emotions that come along with the story. When you are a soldier like Chase and have some lingering feel about your tour in Afghanistan your everyday life seems so different. Chase came back to get in the security business with his brother and did not expect to run into his love interest, Cassie from 6 years ago. A lot has happened in the six-year in both of their lives. Will Chase be able to have a relationship after Afghanistan? Will Cassie want a relationship with Chase? Are there secrets that either one of them does not want them to surface?

Composed: An Ash Park Novel (Volume 8)Composed: An Ash Park Novel by Meghan O’Flynn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I had to go and read Composed, An Ask Park Novel because I read all of the other books. Meghan O’Flynn does an amazing job grabbing me from page one until the last word. Her plotlines often mirror-like a roller coaster. It has twists and turns that keep you on your toes. It is very important that you keep your eyes and mind focused on the book. Meghan gives enough clues to see what is coming. I know I had to reread parts of the same page because I missed a clue. Her characters are important. They have very important roles in the book. I highly recommend you read the other stories first so that you will understand the character development. In this story, Petrosky is back and he is trying to find a killer. There may be a serial killer on the loose. Has Petrosky met his match? Will he find the killer and protect who he thinks is the next one to be killed? I highly recommend this story to find out the answers to these questions and more.

AlamirAlamir by Nesa Miller
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a fantasy story with a lot of action and adventure. Nesa Miller is becoming one of my favorite authors. Her writing style flows gently throughout her story. There were enough action and adventure to carry through to the end of the story. This is the first book in this series and I cannot wait to see what is coming up in the next book. I felt as if was on a roller coaster ride because of the twists and turns, ups and downs, and action to keep me turning pages until the last page. The characters are engaging and fully developed. There is so much depth to the characters that keep the story going. This story is about Etain. Throughout her life, she was told fairy tails about Alamir. Like some fairy tales in our world, it was told to her to teach lessons. She was learning about her destiny in the fairy tales. Will these stories help her with her current situation? This story is a must-read especially if you love fantasy stories as much as I do.

Blue Magnolia (Red Farlow Mysteries, #2)Blue Magnolia by W.F. Ranew
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book had an interesting cover with a single man with a cowboy hat walking into a town. It looked like it was right out of the midwest, or a modern ghost town. The story is unique and intriguing. Red Farlow walks into a cult following, Blue Magnolia. His client is in a heap of trouble with Blue Magnolia and wants help. Will Farlow be able to help or will have trouble coming at him. One thing I really enjoy is Red Farlow’s character. He is a strong male character who does not mind getting his hands dirty. The story line grabs me from the first page until the last page. I am interested in cult societies. It fascinates me that people are able to be easily controlled. Highly recommend this story to see what happens. Will Red find his match with Blue Magnolia? Can he help his client Will?
