Romance in Rehoboth Boxed Set by K.L. Montgomery – Review by Erin Wolf

Romance in Rehoboth Boxed Set (Books 1-3)Romance in Rehoboth Boxed Set by K.L. Montgomery
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I give Romance in Rehoboth Boxed Set (Books 1-3) by K.L. Montgomery, 5 stars.

This set all revolves around the area around Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Book One is about Claire, a woman whom is freshly divorced, forced to live with her parents again, and forty is looming right around the corner. Not to mention that she has always been the fat girl. The one good thing — her job as a blogger. She decides she wants to change befor she hits that ominous number. Her plan — to lose some weight, and be happy again. Will she be able to find happiness and romance again?

Book Two finds two childhood enemies reunited after the death of Aunt Penny. She willed them both her house, and now they are forced to work together to update the house and make it able to flip. A few weeks together renovating a house and then they’ll never have to deal with each other again. That is doable, isn’t it? Or is Aunt Penny still manipulating things from her grave?

In Book Three, Lindy has always considered herself to be the fat friend. But she loves her two best friends and when they keep bugging her, she finally joins them in auditioning for a musical a new local theater group is putting together. It can’t be too bad right? She can just stand in the background and sing, if she even makes it. Plus there is some great eye candy. Meric has been burned by his ex-wife. He is a geeky accountant by day, but he finally feels the pull again of the theater. Will this musical, and maybe the gorgeous Lindy, make him feel again?

This was my first introduction to this author and I won’t lie, I mainly started this series because I live near Rehoboth Beach. I enjoy a good romance, but it is not my favorite genre. These books and this author have completely changed my ideas and mind about romance! They are fun, the characters are sarcastic and so loveable. Each book has a different story too, not just the same story with different leads. Plus they all interconnect, characters from previous books make an appearance in the newer ones. Not only that, but each book can be read as a standalone if you prefer to read them out of order. (I admit, I was a bad girl and read book two first!).

If you like fun romance with great, crazy characters, this set is for you!

Alterations Trilogy by Jane Suen – Review by Erin Wolf

ALTERATIONS TRILOGY: Alterations, Game Changer, Primal WillALTERATIONS TRILOGY: Alterations, Game Changer, Primal Will by Jane Suen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I give ALTERATIONS TRILOGY: Alterations, Game Changer, Primal Will by Jane Suen, 5 stars.

This is a great collection! I would call it science fiction, but it could very easy become reality. It tells the story of Dr. Kite and a microchip that he invented that has mind control capabilities. But it is not approved yet and he needs test subjects. He gets those subjects, sometimes not in the most ethical ways. Three women have the implant inserted, all for different reasons. This trilogy is how their lives are affected by the implants. Remember the old saying, be careful what you wish for? Is this true or will they find happily ever after? And what about Dr. Kite? Will he become famous or will his invention come back to haunt him?

This was such an enjoyable series. It was like nothing I have ever read before and I enjoyed seeing just what each woman and the doctor himself went through throughout the course of this trilogy. Each book is about a different stage of their lives, and therefore makes each one different, yet still part of the whole picture. Very well written, the characters seem quite real, this could happen to someone you know. That’s probably the scariest thing! The story gets you right away and I could not put it down until I was done.

I highly recommend this trilogy to those who like science fiction and just what happens when you try to bend the laws of nature.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I give The Catch (Eastern Shore Swingers Book 2) by Phoebe Alexander, 5 stars.

Paisley is now the manager of a lifestyle club in Ocean City, Maryland. She is new here, but she feels like she was meant for this job. She doesn’t really have too many friends, but the owners and other employees are very nice. They seem to trust her. When they assign her to have a website made for the club, this will change everything.

Calvin is the owner of a website development company who agrees to create site for Paisley. It isn’t really his lifestyle, but it is something new a different from what he normally does. Plus it means that he will see this beautiful woman more. But he knows Paisely is hiding behind her strong facade. What is it she’s hiding? And will he be able to make her see just how interested he really is?

This series is absolutely wonderful! The second book in the series, your favorite characters return, along with new ones you will never forget. As is usual with this author’s books, she mixes love, sex, humor and suspense into an intoxicating story that will leave you wanting more. This book fits right into the series and I highly recommend reading book one because it is also so good, but this book can be read as a standalone.

Once you read this, you will want too see more of Paisley and Calvin as much as I do. If you like steamy, fun books and have an open mind of the swinging lifestyle, this book (and series) is for you!

Marks of the Mazza: Reverse Harem (Mazza Series Book 1) by Blake Blessing – Review by Erin Wolf

Marks of the MazzaMarks of the Mazza by Blake Blessing
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I give Marks of the Mazza: Reverse Harem (Mazza Series Book 1) by Blake Blessing, 4 stars.

Isolde lives a normal, if somewhat boring, life. That all changed the moment she gets into the wrong car with some men she has never seen before. They say they are another race and she is the one they have been waiting for. That she bears the marks of the four houses of these mysterious beings. And to make things even more interesting, she is supposed to mate with one male from each house of this race. But they are not the only ones looking for her. There are others that want to use her and will do whatever it takes. Can she believe all this? If so, does she go along with it?

This was a very interesting book. I have never read a reverse harem book before and maybe that was why, but it felt a little confusing to me at first. But the more I got into the story, the more drawn in I got. Besides the romantic side, there is action and betrayal. Isolde is interesting herself and easy of the men in her life are different, making this an even better book.

If you like supernatural romance and/or reverse harem romance, this book is for you.

When Caitlin was young, she used to love the stories of fairies and otherworldly things her aunt made up. Now, at 18, she loves her aunt but thinks she is quite eccentric. But when her aunt asks Caitlin to watch her house and her two cats, she agrees. Then the senior she has a crush on asked her to a party for that same weekend. She decides to make the best of it and invites the boys and her friends to hang out at her aunt’s house. Little does she know what she is really in for. When reality and the magical world collide, she has decisions to make. Who are her friends and who are enemies? Will they be able to fix the mess they made?

While I have read this author before and always loved the books, she has amazed me yet again. This story was fantastic. It is fun and adventurous and pulled me into her world of wonderful fantasy. The characters are interesting each one is different. I thoroughly enjoyed this different and wonderful book and would love to see more of this world in the future. My favorite characters were Aunt Petunia and her cats!

I highly recommend this book to older middle grade and older. I have been an adult for a long time and it was fantastic!

Fisher of MenFisher of Men by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I give Fisher of Men (Eastern Shore Swingers Book 1) by Phoebe Alexander, 5 stars.

Leah Miller was born and raised in a very religious family. Her parents raised her to finish school, get married, and have children, all while keeping in her faith. But she doesn’t feel like this is her. So she sets out to be her own woman. Then she ends up in Ocean City, Maryland and meets a man that I changes the way she sees things. He is very open with his sexuality. This is new to her, and exciting at the same time. But what about her faith? This is the opposite from everything she was ever taught? Is it okay be free and open or is it a sin?

This is the beginning of the Eastern Shore Swingers series, so this story has lots of sex and multiple people having sex. Although Leah is very religious, this is not a book about religion. Okay, now that the formalities are over, I will give you my opinion. I loved it!!! Yes, there are a lot of hot and steamy scenes, but that is not what makes this book. It’s the characters that really make it!! Leah and Chris are so much fun. Yes, they struggle, and they each have issues. But they are so real and know how to love and have fun too. The things that happen in this book will keep you reading until the very end. I thought this book was so enjoyable and entertaining, I cannot wait to read more in this series!

Blind Magic: The Sanctuary Chronicles by India Kells – Review by Erin Wolf

Blind Magic (The Sanctuary Chronicles #2)Blind Magic by India Kells
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I give Blind Magic: The Sanctuary Chronicles by India Kells, 5 stars.

Sera is a witch who has been losing her vision for a long time. Now she is blind. She has always spent her life in books, learning as much as she can about the magical world. She has been alone for so long, it is all she knows. Then Ian comes into her life and she cannot stop thinking about him. Werewolves and witches cannot be together, it is doomed to fail. But he keeps inserting himself in her life. Can she stay away?

Ian cannot stop thinking about Sera, from the moment he first literally ran into her. Now it turns out she is in danger, someone is hunting her down. He feels like he must protect her. But what about love? He already lost his mate tragically. But she soothes his soul.

This is an excellent paranormal romance/suspense book. There is so much going on, but it is hard to put it down without giving anything away. I can so though that there is not one minute that you will be bored. It is unlike any book I have ever read before. There are many twists and turns, and characters appearing, you will never be able to guess what it to happen next. Ian and Sera are great main characters too. They are very realistic, with emotions and feelings that most people have experienced. I hope we will see more of these wonderful characters in the future.

I highly recommend this book to all lovers of supernatural romance, urban fantasy and those whole like something engrossing and different.

Transformations: The Shifter Series by Cari Schaeffer – Review by Erin Wolf

Transformations (The Shifter Series, #1)Transformations by Cari Schaeffer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I give Transformations: The Shifter Series: Volume One (The Shifters Book 1) by Cari Schaeffer, 5 stars.

Katherine Wolff just wants to be a normal teenager. But that’s not to be. She comes from a powerful family of shifters. Ones who have been fighting with another family for a long, long time. When she comes into her powers, she will have to leave her normal life and do what she is told. But she doesn’t want to. Nor does she believe what her elders tell her. Is she right or will she learn just how wrong she was?

This is a wonderful fantasy book filled with shifters, love, loss and plenty of action. The Wolff family is so great, I feel like I want to be a part of this family. Katherine is your normal teenager really. Until she no longer can be. Then she quickly grows up and her family pulls together to protect themselves. The story itself captivates you and does not let go until the end. Then you want to quickly grab the next book!!

A wonderful read, I highly recommend this book to all young adult and older ages.

Summer Fling by Tarrah Anders – Review by Erin Wolf

Summer FlingSummer Fling by Tarrah Anders
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I give Summer Fling by Tarrah Anders, 4 stars.

Emma lives in a summer beach town and she has one rule — no hooking up with tourists. But when she ends up in bed with what she believes is a tourist after a night of way too much alcohol, she does her best to forget it. But then she runs into this sexy man again. He says he is there to start up a business and stay, she doesn’t really believe him. She doesn’t need to get her heart broken again. Will he actually stay? Does she want to take a chance? But the more she gets to know him, the harder it is.

This was a wonderful book. It is a fun romance that can be read in one sitting. Well, at least if you’re like me and can’t put it down. The characters are engaging and very down to earth. They feel just like people you may know. The story is much more than a romance too. There is the drama and pressure of starting a new business, not to mention other surprises in the book.

This book is fun, the characters are great, and I quite enjoyed this book. I highly recommend it.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I give The Last Keeper of the Light: a dystopian fantasy by Nikki Broadwell, 5 stars.

Sandal barely remembers life before the electricity was shut down and everything stopped. She has been living this way for a long, long time. She is now on a journey. She doesn’t exactly know where, but the the light seems to be guiding her. Along the way, she reflects events from her past, both good and bad. But where is she headed? Is it all in her mind?

This was a book like none I have read before. I’ll be honest, the way it started had me leary. I thought it was going to be another survivor after the world ends type book. And yes there is a bit of that, but mainly to build the story. There is so much more going on in this book. Sandal is an incredible character, she went through hell multiple types and came out stronger. She took her happiness where she could get it. She is a survivor and it was wonderful seeing her story. I would love to read more of this world and more of her.

This a dystopian fantasy that I highly recommend for adults of all ages. There are some adult themes in here that to me make it for those over 18, but it is highly worth the time and money to read. You will not regret it!

That Voodoo That You Do (Chateau Rouge Book 1)That Voodoo That You Do by Jolie St. Amant
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I give That Voodoo That You Do (Chateau Rouge Book 1) by Jolie St. Amant, 5 stars.

The Chateau Rogue is the setting for these stories. A wonderful, old hotel that is supposedly haunted. Three couples that are thrown together by chance. Or is it just chance?

I loved this book. The setting of an old hotel in a town with lots of history itself is just the perfect place for these to take place. Each of the main characters are quite interesting and very real. Not to mention that there are three separate possible romances going on, but it is not like some books, where only the characters change. No, this has three very distinct couples, each with a very different story/circumstance. I could not pick a favorite, I loved them all. I cannot wait to read more with this hotel as the setting and hope this series goes on a long time.

If you like romance set in a historic, haunted setting, this book is for you.

Special Agent Charli (Undercover FBI Book 6) by Mimi Barbour – Review by Erin Wolf

Special Agent Charli (Undercover FBI Book 6)Special Agent Charli by Mimi Barbour
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I give Special Agent Charli (Undercover FBI Book 6) by Mimi Barbour, 5 stars.

Charli just got off a very stressful undercover assignment that came close to breaking her. She has been approved to take a month-long vacation to unwind and get herself back together. She is in no frame of mind to take on another case. But when a girl comes to her begging for help, she can’t say no. And when the girl needs to go into witness protection, she will only go if Agent Charli goes with her. Again Charli cannot say no to this girl, as much as she wants to. This leads her to Florida and the local police agent Blake Sebastian. Her cover is the fiance of this womanizing cop. She doesn’t need another man in her life. But how does he seem to charm his way into her life? And will they be able to keep this frightened girl safe?

This was an incredible book. I have not read this series before and had no idea what to expect. I can understand where Charli is at in the beginning of the book. She is mentally burned out. She needs a relaxing vacation. But at the same time, she cannot risk this girl’s life. Blake is also an engaging character. He is the stereotypical playboy, until he meets his match in Charli. The story is captivating – besides the possible romance between these two, there is plenty of suspense. There are multiple things going on in here, not just catching the bad guy and watching the romance try to bloom. I was on the edge of my seat until the end.

I absolutely loved this book and highly recommend it to those lovers of romantic suspense.

I give Releasing the Demons (The Order of the Senary) by L.D. Rose, 5 stars.

Blaze is a hybrid who spent too long at the hands of a vampire being tortured. He thought he would never survive. But his brothers rescued him. It took him a long time to mentally get out of there, but he just exists now. He only lives for killing any and all vampires. He wants to find the killer as bad as she does. Can she trust him? If it wasn’t him, then who is behind it? And why does she feel more for him than she really should?

This is a wonderful paranormal suspense romance. The characters are so engaging. I hope to see more of Blaze and Valerie in the future. The author crafts a world in which you get lost in immediately and feel sorry that the ride is over when you come to the the last page. Expertly done, I hope to read much more of this series in the future.

If you like paranormal books with action/suspense and romance, this book is for you.

I give Kingdom of the Damned: Provocation (Kingdom Journals) by Tricia Copeland, 5 stars.

Anne’s whole vampire family was murdered by witches when she was just a child. Luckily, she saved by a wonderful woman and they flee to start anew. There they live a quiet life among the humans. As a young adult, her life is again turned upside down. She knows that in order for the supernatural beings to survive, they need to stop fighting one another. So she starts out on a journey to reach every clan and ask for peace. This takes her on a journey spanning hundreds of years and unbelievable distances. Along the way, she makes many allies, along with life-long friends. She makes enemies too. But the things she learns is worth it. Can she bring peace?

This book is incredible. It cover an incredible amount of time and hits on many important events that happened. Twisting them a bit to include both witches and vampires is ingenious. Not to mention how well the author has done it. She weaves a story that draws you in and makes you believe. I still can’t believe how well it was done. And Anne — wow. She is such a perfect lead character. She has flaws, like any good character, but she learns from them. She lives with her heart, and the growth she goes through really makes you feel for her. She has had such tragedies in her life, but she has never given up.

This book incredible in so many ways and I recommend this to all lovers of books.

She is only supposed to hold onto him until she gets what she was promised. But each day with him makes her want him more and more. Has Zane go ally met his match in Skye?

If you have read the rest of the series, I know you wanted to read more about Zane. He is such a complicated character. You know he is driven by his heart, even if it doesn’t seem like it. You want to know if he can finally meet a woman while will make him want to settle down. This book has it all. You learn more about him and meet another wonderful character in Skye. She is something else, but you can’t help but love her. The adventure and action is also in this book too. Many things happen, and you will be on the edge of your seat trying to find out just what happens next.

Running from Demons by M.K. Theodoratus – Review by Erin Wolf

Running from DemonsRunning from Demons by M.K. Theodoratus
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I give Running from Demons by M. K. Theodoratus, 5 stars.

Pillar is a Null, she has no magic. She is an outcast everywhere she goes. Her mother, who passed away a long time ago, left her with so many unanswered questions. When she has a chance to travel to some of her mother’s people, she decides to take the chance and travel to see them. But a teenager travelling on their own is dangerous, especially one without power. Will she learn any more about her family? Not to mention she seems to be attracting attention from some very nasty beings. What do they want with her?

This is great book! There is plenty of action, so much is going on that you will not be bored for one second. Not to mention the story of Pillar herself. She never knew her father, and she has spotty memories of her past and her mother. The growth she goes through is very rewarding. Life had never been easy for her, but it has not broken her. She has a wonderful heart too, she helps those who need it.

Since the main character just graduated high school, this would probably be considered young adult, but I am many years removed from this group and I believe this is great for all adults. I highly recommend it.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I give Behind the Fan by Caroline Walken, 5 stars.

Dorothy Kennedy-Denham has lived a long, long life. At almost 100, she has out-lived her husband and her children. Now comes the time where she is no longer able to live in her own house any more. Her 2 granddaughters and 2 great-granddaughters come to clear her house and get ready to move her into a home. Little do they know just how life-changing this event will be for all of them. They are each broken in their own way. When they learn more about this older women’s life, they are amazed at just how interesting it really was. And they may just come to learn that there is more to life then to what they think.

This book was absolutely amazing. I wasn’t really sure what to expect, but I could not put this book down once I started. The details of Dottie’s life in the earlier years was so detailed, I really did feel like I was there. That era fascinates me and I was very happy at how well it was done. Then there is the present day and the things the younger generations learn affects them in way they never thought possible.

It is a book full of love, family, surviving the hardships, and moving on. Centered around a very strong woman, this book takes you on a journey the like you have never been. I highly recommend this book.
