How beautiful is this cover art ? The dedication made me smile and have a gentle chuckle 📚🥰 while the acknowledgments had me in tears 🫣🥰

This is one of those reads you just want to share with everyone from your neighbour to the minister’s wife even the girls at Ladies league !

The characters are so easy to love especially granny and I laughed, I really did but I also cried and got angry .
I struggle to get my head around people that hurt others to get their way and look I’m not perfect but geez let the sun shine on others .
I just adore Granny she’s really the bees knees and she’s sharp , funny , witty and wise and I’d love to spend time with her 🥰
Mia is a gentle , kind and what you see is what you get and I’d love to have her as a friend and she deserves every ounce of happiness that comes her way .
Mitch is more than meets the eye be patient with him …

There’s so much I want to say about this beautiful read but I’m struggling with the words , does that make sense !? It’s one of those you read , and then read again for it all to really sink in , an epic read filled with relatable and beautiful people 🥰📚

This is an absolutely freaking fantastic book! I could not put it down. This book contains absolutely well developed characters. This book contains the kind of characters you root for and the characters that you love to hate. This book is the kind that sucks you in from the beginning and when you finally finish it you feel like you have to say good bye to some wonderful friends. That is how amazingly well developed these characters are. The addition of Granny just adds to the charm to this book! I have to say that this is the book that I will be recommending from now on when people ask me what is the best book you’ve read recently! I definitely recommend this one!

After the worst year of Mia’s life, she finds herself in the bedroom of summer vacations at her grandma’s. All the memories of those summers, the time she got to forget all nonsense from her parents, was supposed to be a comfort not a chokehold. Mia is making some positive changes like going back to college. But try as she might, there is one person she can’t avoid forever.

Mitch has made a name for himself as a firefighter, he has a fiance, and he might have finally moved on from the one girl he can’t forget, until she comes waltzing back into his life. Mia. His childhood best friend. When they run into each other at church, Mia gets a glimpse of Mitch and his new life. She is prepared to leave him alone. When she needs help on an assignment for school, Mia turns to Mitch.

Mia and Mitch try to rekindle their friendship, keeping it strictly in the friendzone. Feelings long buried come to a head when Mia realizes that she is being duped. The mentor that has been encouraging her all year is oddly connected to Mitch. When Mia confronts Mitch, the mystery unfolds as well as secrets come to light. All is not pretty in the daylight. The truth that comes out threatens to destroy what Mitch hopes to build with Mia.

This one is a very sweet tale. Lots of energy. Moves quickly. No steam. Not quite what I was expecting but good enough to read until the end. I have to say, I wasn’t expecting some of the twists. I had the wrong person pegged for a long time. Then some of Lacey’s moves were unexpected. Overall, a good story worth the read.

Love & Stilettos

This book pulled me in with the cover, and after reading the synopsis I knew without a doubt I had to read it.

Mia and Mitch are childhood friends who end up going separate ways and eventually find their way back into one another’s life. So much has happened with each of them since the last time they spoke. Mia is a widow trying to restart her life and Mitch is an engaged fire fighter who still has a soft spot for Mia.

I enjoyed this book and found myself hoping something bad would happen to a certain person. Some people just suck and this person was one of those people.

Ms. Lindell weaves an enjoyable story and I appreciate that. Would definitely read other books by her in the future.

I was misled by the title.

I went into this book thinking that it was going to be more of a “leave the shoes on” type of book and it was most definitely not.

While it is a good story, and I did enjoy it…there were a few times the plot threw me off because it didn’t match earlier context.

Mia was not the stiletto wearing heroine I thought she would be based on the title and blurb. She was a younger widow trying to figure out where she fit into this world. She’d lost herself somewhere along her journey.

Mitch was a stronger male hero, but they danced around one another so much that when you finally think there is going to be some spice, it’s more like a bell pepper and not even a jalapeño.

Granny, though…while a secondary character…she’s the one who kept the story going. She’s the one I identified with most because I could see and hear her in my head as she reminded me of some of my aunties. Granny was a gem.

Please don’t get me wrong, this was a good book…it could use a tweak here and there. I *believe* this is the author’s first novel and for that she gets all the stars…she stepped out of a comfort zone and put herself out there in romancelandia which can be a brutal place. It was a good story…just wasn’t what I was expecting based on the title. And hey, I am used to reading bully romance. This was a clean, contemporary romance book.

I enjoyed this contemporary romance. I liked how there was a mystery to is as well which kept me turning the pages to see what happens next. I loved the fact that Mia and Mitch had been friends for years but neither admitted their feelings until it was to late.
Mia is now widowed and Mitch is set to marry Lacey. However the spark and chemistry between Mia and Mitch is so strong neither of them can deny it.
But there is Lacey to think about and she is not prepared to let her man to without a fight and she doesn’t care who gets hurt in the process. What follows is a story of lies, secrets, manipulation, jealously and a love that has been denied for years.
Will Mia and Mitch finally get their happy ever after? What does Lacey have planned to put a stop to it even starting? Jealousy is a horrible emotion and we see just how far a Lacey will go to keep the man she wants.
I did enjoy this story. Mia always puts across how Lacey is so much better than her which I get as a self conscious person myself however when Lacey starts to fight dirty i wish Mia would have fought back a bit harder and shown some strength.

This book took me a bit to get into but once I was into it, I was hooked. It does start a little slow but it picked up and I didn’t look back. It did start flowing easily and it became a very easy quick read. It is written from the leading females point of view. There is no switching, which worked in this book; but I do like to have both points of view. The chapters have titles so you get to ponder what they mean for that chapter. The betrayal and scheming in this story is really what got me hooked. I love a good smack down as you will. I love seeing nasty characters fall. lol. The things that Mia goes through is a lot for any one person and it does draw you in to see what else she is going to have go deal with and how she is going to handle it. There is humor in this book as well which is needed when everything keeps happening. Like I said earlier, it does start out slow but picks up and you won’t want to put it down. I would definitely not over look this book. It was a good read.

Love and Stilettos was a sweet story. Well written by the author as well as. For me it started off slow which made getting into it a little difficult. However it was worth sticking it out. So don’t let that assessment deter you, you may feel differently.
Mia and Mitch spent June together every year while growing up. That is till Mia stopped coming to Kentucky. The best of friends during that time, one never disclosed to the other the idea of stepping out of the friendzone.
It’s been over a decade and Mia is now a widow and a permanent resident of Kentucky. Just one problem Mitch, though she’s now shy around, is engaged. So she uses that knowledge to stay away. Essentially the same thing he did for her when she was married.
These two are stubborn. Not going after what they want. Feeling that as long as the other is happy, they will be happy. Reality they are losing themselves in the process.
What will it take to remove the blinds?
Will they ever put their own wants and needs first?
That and so many more questions come to mind as you navigate this story. The author gives you a reason to root for them. Despite the turmoil lurking. Nothing is ever smooth sailing which Mia & Mitch find out first hand now they are back in each other’s lives.
We’ve all had that one friend that we can’t imagine our life without. But for how many of you was that friend the love of your life as well? Digest that question and jump in, because I’m sure if you made it this far into this post you can relate to this book and the last few things I’ve said.

Love and Stilettos caught my attention by the gorgeous cover art and I was pleasantly surprised by the speed in which I fell in love with the writing. I love books that have names or titles of each chapter, so I was really excited to see this story featured that. Many romance novels that I’ve read have duel perspectives and alternate between the main male and female but I really liked that this story was told entirely from Mia’s perspective. As if the small details I’ve already listed weren’t reason enough to give this novel a chance, the characters were warm, kind and relatable. I felt like they were my friends from the very first page!

While Mitch seems excited to rekindle the friendship, Mia treads the line carefully in order to not step on the toes of Mitch’s fiancé. But, as lies and secrets come to light, Mia is not sure who she can really trust. When her life begins to spiral due to the actions of those around her, Mia must place her faith somewhere…hopefully it’s in the right person.

I enjoyed this book so much that I did not put it down until I had finished it. Mia is the type of character that pulls me in…she is brave and courageous, with a side of clumsiness and self-doubt. In other words, she comes off as half the people I know in real life! To watch her relationship with Mitch grow and evolve was pure entertainment. And her grandmother was AMAZING! She made me laugh with her life and love advice! This was a great book that I will be recommending others to read!!

This books is all about the characters, right from page 1. They are such and interesting group that you cannot help but find them entertaining. There is at least one character you will connect with although, if you are anything like me you will connect with more.

The story was well written and engaging. I thought the author for the pacing just right.it was easy to get into and it was easy to read quickly because it is so good. This is a book definitely worth your time.

As they rekindle their friendship things begin to happen that causes Mia to almost lose everything she is building. Who is behind it and can she still trust Mitch after all these years?

This was a good story, there is a lot compacted into it. I always enjoy a second chance story and this one definitely fits into this category. I think this would be a great read for a rainy day.

Love & Stilettos was full of secret identities, manipulation, and deceitful motives. I loved every moment of this novel from beginning to end. The characters were lovable and relatable in so many ways. Granny stole my heart and I loved how determined Mitch was. With humor intertwined throughout, there were plenty of literal laugh out loud moments. I loved that this romance novel had a villain who didn’t get away with their actions. About half way through the novel I had suspicions of who the villain was but it didn’t ruin any moment of the story for me. There were plenty more twists to come following my suspicions. I highly recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys reading romance with a hint of humor and a lot of suspense. You won’t regret this one! I can’t wait to see if there is more to come for these wonderful characters.

I wasn’t even a full chapter in when I knew this book was going to be a struggle to put down. I was entirely invested in Mia’s life and if she was going to regain her friendship with Mitch and grieve Xavier. I couldn’t wait for Jeff to text her again and knew that Shelly or Granny would have great words of wisdom for her.

This book is so well written that it’s easy to sit down and binge chapter after chapter without realizing time going by around you. The twists and turns kept me so interested, I couldn’t help but continue reading.

This book is a great reminder that things aren’t always what they seem and you should be honest & brave instead of waiting for the “right time”.

I enjoyed reading this second chance romance story. This is still a new author for me which I enjoyed and look forward to seeing what is next for them. This is a well written story about life, starting over and getting a second chance at love. The problem is that the one you love has finance and will stop at nothing to keep what is hers. This is a story you don’t want to miss. A story where the characters are creative and pull you into their world with ease. They kept my attention to the end. I enjoyed watching their growth and what they brought to the story. A fast paced, hard to put down story that is easy and entertaining to read. I really enjoyed this book and I highly recommend it.

I wasn’t expecting to enjoy it as much as I did, I was worried there would be too much drama for me but I’m glad I gave it a chance!

This is an engaging read, following the story of Mia, Mitch and Lacey. There’s secrecy and plot twists which I loved, especially as when I thought I knew what the twist was going to be, there were elements I didn’t expect. The tension was built well as Mia and Mitch race against time to stop Mia’s life from being ruined. While I expected this to be a little more intense, I think it was paced well for a romance novel.

The characters were well-constructed, and described well so I could picture them clearly as the scenes played out. The chemistry between Mia and Mitch was evident throughout and I was rooting for them from the start. I would have liked to have some more insight into Mitch’s perspective on things but the book is well written, I really enjoyed it!

This book about Mitch and Mia was a great read. Reading their story and how things ended was very satisfying. I have never hated a villain character more then I hated Lacey. At first I was unsure about everything that was going on, but then that pivotal point happened and I hated her with a fiery passion from then on. Mia tried so hard to get over her husband’s death, and when she lost Mitch, she decided not to let it slow her down. She had a lot of strength that was admirable. There were times I wanted to smack Mitch upside the head for not seeing the blatant lies that was right in front of his eyes, but they do say that love is blind…

An enjoyable and engaging contemporary romance which kept me hooked throughout. Twenty eight year old widow Mia leaves to attend Bellarmine University, where she comes face to face with her childhood best friend Mitch and his fiancée Lacey. Mia and Mitch used to spend the Summer’s together but their friendship ended when he didn’t attend her wedding. However, the spark between them is still there, and Lacey is determined to keep them apart even if she has to use lies and manipulation to do so. When Mia starts to realise that Lacey may actually be the villain not a victim, she uncovers more than she expected, including secret identities. Mia and Mitch need to work together to stop Lacey before she ruins Mia’s life, including her expulsion from the University. The storyline had plenty of drama and romance to keep me happily turning the pages and the plot twists kept me guessing as to the outcome. The characters were all well defined and I felt immersed in the setting as the descriptive narrative brought their world to life.

Second chance Romance with a twist
This contemporary romance had a really good premise with the childhood best friends hitting road block upon road block to their HEA. This is told from Mia’s point of view and I would have really loved to have had Mitch’s POV, as it would have added another dimension – I’m a sucker for dual POV. There were only a few minor let downs for me in the persona of Mitch and the delivery with granny it all just seemed a bit clunky. The twists with Lacey were well developed though and she had strong characterisation. Overall, for me, this is a solid first read from this author.

Love & Stilettos is the debut novel by Evelyn Lindell. It is a contemporary romance with jealousy, plots/agendas, mystery, manipulation, secrets, lies, secrets crushes, childhood friends-to-lovers, manipulation, and more.
I loved the premise of this book and was looking forward to all the promise it held. A romantic mystery/suspense is in my top five favourite genres- so I was excited to see what Evelyn Lindell had in store for us here. I really wanted to love this book, to lose myself completely in the story- but unfortunately this didn’t grab me the way I had hoped for.
While the premise was great, I had trouble connecting with Mia as she came across as quite naïve and more immature than her age suggested, or than what the blurb had led me to believe. I was expecting a ‘strong’, confident, independent, and ‘mature’ FMC- but she was too ‘mousy’ for my liking. I got quite frustrated with her, and that feeling only intensified as the story progressed. There were situations in which the ‘villain’ came across as more the FMC- and completely ‘walked’ all over Mia. I can understand that the author was trying to add drama and tension to the story, and in some instances succeeded in doing that- but mostly I was left feeling frustrated and a little disappointed.
I think the story needed more depth and development to really ‘shine’- and adding Mitch’s (MMCs) perspective would have gone a long way to achieving that, in my opinion. Also, the storyline was quite predictable, and while that didn’t ‘detract’ too much from my appreciation of the story, added to the other ‘issues’ I had it only fuelled the flames of my discontent. I think with a little ‘tweaking’ this story could have been stellar- as it stands, I really had to force myself to stay ‘focused’ on the story as it wasn’t holding my attention and my mind kept wandering. Don’t let me put you off reading this story, as I read a lot of darker, ‘meatier’ novels and my perspective may be biased towards that- so you should read the story for yourself and make up your own mind.
I can see a lot of potential here, and as this is the authors debut novel, I am curious to read more of her work in the future to see how her ’style’ develops.

Love & Stilettos is a contemporary romance tale. I was geared for an intense journey full of surprises, suspense, thrills and so much more after reading the above, but it didn’t punch me in the feels. There was some twists and turns, intrigue and mystery with lies and deceit that kept the story slowly moving forward. I kept reading even though I felt the story is a little predictable, because I wanted to see how it ended.
I love a story that is told in different POV’s so I would have liked to have heard from Mitch and his take on it all which I think would have given the story that much more depth. My connection with Mia didn’t really gel even though she was sweet and shy and a whole lot naive and it felt like she was so much younger than she was.
There is a lot in there to make it a great story but for me it fell a little bit short of the mark. Having said that it does not mean that you shouldn’t give it a go because my tastes and yours may be completely different and you may fall in love with it.
