Song of Earth and Claws by Lena Abram was really a great read. It was my first book by this author so I wasn’t sure what to expect. The world building was really awesome and I loved the character development. I’ve read a lot of fae-universe books and I really loved the unique twist this one had and the mystery surrounding the two main characters. I did feel a couple times that there could have been a little more information given to the readers, like about the games in general, but I also feel like not having the info did not detract from the overall read and storyline. Would definitely recommend this book and will read more by Abram!

This fantasy story will keep you reading. The author provides tons of details and has very believable characters. Lannahi has been overlooked and underestimated but it’s time for the Games and it’s time for her to prove herself. But can she trust who she thinks or will she be betrayed like her family was? Very good book with a very similar vibe to GOT and LotR.

Let me tell you, I simply could not put this book down. This novel is just masterfully written to tug on your emotions, the imagery and scene building is just beautiful, and the magic aspect was just so intriguing to me. Lannahi’s tale was an enchanting roller coaster every step of the way and I loved it. I would find myself thinking about it as i did things throughout the day, and I just had to keep coming back to it! If you’re looking for something new and you enjoy fantasy, I wholeheartedly recommend Lena’s work! This is the first book she’s written that I have had the absolute pleasure of reading, and i very much doubt it will be my last!

Taking control of her own fate. This is the first book I have read by the immensely talented Lena Abram’s and all I gotta say is wow. Day one of 2024 and I already have a favorite author of the year. Lannahi, daughter of King Sarkal and Queen Asirri of Goldenshadows is more than just a singer. Lannahi is the youngest of three, brother Maal fifteen years older and sister Letiri ten years older. Due to the large age gaps, she was never very close to her siblings but when she became twenty years old both took great interest in her along with many others. The purpose was to see how powerful she was. Alas the interest in her was short lived when their father introduced her to the court as a singer and not a princess. Both felt she was no longer a threat but could be a pawn in the Royal Games. Nihhal, is the son of prince reigning over one of her fathers’ cities and due to his father’s enslavement after a loss has a grand plan of revenge that Lannahi is key. When he reveals his ultimate plans to her, he does so with a charm, if she tries to warn or tell anyone of his plans she will suffocate before she can finish. With no other choice Lannahi is truly her mother’s daughter and decides to take her survival and thus her fate into her own hands. She has finally reached the age of twenty-five and is now old enough to attend the Royal Sabbaths and can declare a challenge to another royal for their title and lands. Only she meets someone unexpected, Ashared, a mixed blood landshaper/shapeshifter. With whom has ties to the woman she has challenged. The Queen of Goldfrost is her target and the date is set… her only brief hesitation to her surprise is how Ashared will see the challenge. What will happen after the duel? Song of Earth and Claws starts a bit slow as there is quite a bit of world-building, as is usual in stories of the Fae. The reader needs to be able to understand the rules to understand the motivations of the main character. Lannahi is the youngest daughter of King Sarkal, king of Goldenshadows and Queen Asirri, Sarkal’s wife and Knight. Her older siblings are princes & princesses of their kingdoms under King Sarkal. Kingdoms are won and lost in the Moon Games that happen every month, according to the Rules, but not everyone plays by the rules. Lannahi is a musician with little power, but she realises that she cannot trust anyone, not even her family, as they will all use her as a pawn to gain and keep their own power and kingdoms. When Lannahi is betrayed by Nihhal, an enchanter she loves, she is forced to participate in the Game and duel for a kingdom to protect herself from him and his plans for her. Losing is not an option as losing means slavery. Winning the duel is just the start of Lannahi finding herself and her power in a kingdom quite different to her home, and with people who view her and her friends with much suspicion. Navigating a hostile ex-queen, the man she is attracted to but cannot trust, wild werewolf factions, an ex-lover who betrayed her, and siblings she cannot trust, whilst holding onto her kingdom is a delicate balancing act. This is a really entertaining fantasy read. It contains everything you would expect from a fantasy adventure, fantasy beings, danger, excitement, enemies from far and wide and some even closer to home, and romance. In this story there is also family angst and drama as it felt to me that all of Lannahi’s siblings were constantly waiting for the moment to turn against her and stab her in the back.
Lannahi wants to make her own way in the world. She doesn’t want to be under someone else rule for the rest of her life so to do that she needs to either take over someone else’s kingdom or create her own. However that isn’t as simple as it sounds as even the parts not under the control of a ruler still have their own supernatural beings who aren’t to happy to have someone trying to take control over them.
So now Lannahi has to gather people around her to help her succeed in this game and progress herself further so she can become a ruler. But with everyone wanting the same thing can she really trust the people around her or are they just using her as a stepping stone to get ahead in the game.
The author goes into a lot of detail that really brings the world to life however for me I got a bit lost with the Game. I felt it wasn’t explained as well as it could have been whereas other aspects of the story were explained in greater depth.
Overall it was an enjoyable read which a strong female character which I love and I am excited to see what else the author has planned for this fantasy world.

Lannahi finds herself betrayed and part of a bigger plan from one who would do her family harm. Everyone overlooked Lannahi, yes her voice was beautiful, but she was sheltered and underestimated. In order to take control of her own destiny, Lannahi issues a duel for the kingdom of Goldfrost. If she wins she has a new battle in front of her, gaining the trust of the people who live there. If she loses she will be a slave or worst, lose her life. The game is set, will she meet her match?
What a terrific story. So many different facets to this story. Lannahi trusts very few and she finds herself betrayed by one she thought she could trust. She makes a play that changes everything and her determination is astounding. At times Lannahi can come off as cold but there is so much to her, couldn’t put the story down. If you like fantasy’s that have to do with the royal court this one is a must read.

Let me start off by saying this is a wonderful book. With that being said, I wanted to like it so much more than I actually did. This book is a stand-alone romantic fantasy novel, but it does have two other books in the same universe.
Song of Earth and Claws has a good amount of the “regular” fantasy elements, such as drama, danger, magic and mystical characters (in this case Fae – as well as shapeshifters). But there are also a few elements that the author adds that I find are quite unique and interesting, the main one being the way the fae differ from one another. They all have the deeper connection as far a morals go, but they couldn’t be any more different regarding powers, personalities, and physical attributes.
There is A LOT, and I do mean A LOT of information to take in that is honestly pretty necessary to keep the story line straight. This is a chacteristic most dystopian books have, especially in the very first book introducing the world, so I don’t have a problem with the amount of info but, my issue is more so with how much of the information if very alike. There are only very small differences, but those small differences are crucial at understanding and comprehending. Another issue I have is the names are very similar as well. Which would have been fine if they were characters on the same side, or for smaller characters, if a small description (without necessarily being redundant) was included when mentioning them. I completely understand this is easier said than actually done when it comes to writing characters lol.
There are several characters that I would consider “main” characters, but as far as the romantic story line of the book, it is focused on Lannahi and Ashared. I do deeply love their connection both physical and mental. The romantic part doesn’t really have momentum though until over half way, and I feel there was a lot of missed opportunity there because the book is focused on explaining in depth the rules of the fae universe as well as Lannahi as a person. I feel like the author was torn in two directions – the romantic portion of the story vs. the universe the romance took place in. I think the book generally would have been better if there was just one direction the author focused on. Because of this, the flow of the story was a little choppy.
The beginning of the story focuses on Lannahi only and the “games”. But the “games” are not really well explained and left me a little confused on why exactly they existed besides the fact to keep the fae from just murdering each other at random. Another large aspect of this book that heavily confused me was what the ACTUAL plot was, out of the plethora of things that could be considered, none of them really made enough sense to be the MAIN one. Yes, Lannahi wanted protection from Nihhal and she couldn’t speak of what he aspired to do, as well as she did not wish to become a slave. But wouldn’t becoming a Queen solve these issues? Isn’t that the whole point of why she became Queen? Not to mention, after she becomes Queen, it barely mentions him again until almost 3/4 ways through.
The element of danger is never missing, there is always a slight worry that someone might lose their life at any given moment. Has Lannahi bit of more than she could chew? Who knew being Queen would be just as dangerous as her future looked with Nihhal. Loyalties are tested, secrets are kept.. and broken, family members cannot always be trusted, and greed is not always the motivation behind a person’s intentions.
The universe itself is easily imagined; the author does a wonderful job of explaining the world. It is a BEAUTIFUL world, and I think this is one of the best things about this book. It is just enough similar to other fae worlds that makes it easy to imagine fae living there, but so different that you might just take a step back and imagine fae, as a whole, differently than before.
The underlying story had SO much potential, and I feel like it did not really meet its mark for me. But regardless, it is a good story and I encourage you to pick it up and read if you love fantasy romance!

This book droned on a bit but had good world building. Everything about this world was well explained. I did enjoy the plot. I would recommend this book to anyone that likes reading about the supernatural.

Song of Earth and Claws by Lena Abram is a high-fantasy adventure with Fae, complex world-building, drama, danger, agendas, family dynamics, challenges, and more. This is the first book that I have read by Ms. Abram, so I really didn’t know what to expect from one of her books- but as fantasy is one of my absolute favourite genres, and the blurb sounded quite promising, I one-clicked myself a copy and dove right in. I have to be honest here, there is a LOT of information and details in this story, and the start proved to be quite slow and somewhat confusing. The story jumps right into aspects of the ‘Game’, but nothing (about the Game) is really explained enough to know how it works and what’s going on… I felt like I was starting a book in the ‘middle’ and was missing a lot of details. The flow was also slow and a bit choppy, which added another challenge to my reading experience. These issues did improve as the story unfolded, but I still struggled to stay in the ‘groove’ or invest in the character/s and the story. There were quite a few frustrating moments for me and quite a few characters that I detested or wanted to kick/shake. The underlying story had so much more potential, which for me, it just didn’t quite reach. I have been on a bit of a dark fantasy binge lately, along with some gritty thrillers thrown into the mix- so I’m really not sure if that has coloured my opinion of this book, or not. Taking that into account, I have decided to revisit it again in a few weeks to see if I still feel the same way about it- or if my opinion will change. So, stay tuned. But don’t let my opinion put you off reading this book, because looking at other reviews, I seem to be the only one with any issues. This book is AMAZING! There was a lot of information to digest in the beginning but after that the book is a very easy read. I binged it in a day. The characters were very likeable. The cover is very pretty. The humor was great. I wish the next book was out already. I wanted to stay in that world longer!

I really got entranced with this book starting from the first page. It proves that no matter if someone is blood related to you you still can’t trust them. Song of Earth and Claws is Lena Abrams new romantasy world book. This is a good start to this series. This high fantasy tale is set in a world where magic is the norm and the worldbuilding is done well. The story is well-written and easily imagined. Lena certainly puts the characters through their paces in this magical journey. It kind of reminds me of a cross between Lord of the Rings, The Hunger Games and GOT all rolled into one. There are strong heroines that are interesting and intriguing characters. With Games a foot it’s do or die time, but does Lannahi have what it takes to win or will all be lost with her. Rules, what rules? Has she taken on more than she can handle? To find out you will need to read this little gem. The stakes are high in this magical world where enemies have their own agendas, power, and greed. A world with elemental magic, magical creatures, wolves, Fae, games, slavery, along with lies, secrets, deceit, danger, death, hopes, dreams and more. Loyalties will be tested. Trust needs to be gained and want is a powerful motivator. I enjoyed the story and look forward to the next book and the story becoming more settled in terms of build-up and pacing.

Lannahi turned out to be a strong character that many underestimated. This story at times felt like a milder version of Game of Thrones (cleaner). Who could she trust? I felt her siblings were lying and manipulative jerks. The one she thought she loved turned out to be be a putz. Duals weren’t good but she had to do it to survive. An action filled story with drama, a little romance, and fantasy that made for a really exciting book that I couldn’t put down. The characters were well developed. You could feel from their descriptions what kind of person they were. This is a cool book and well worth the read.

So, though she enjoys reading about travel adventures and love burning slowly, it may happen that the plot of her own book will get stuck in one place and produce sparks sooner rather than later (but it is not guaranteed that the place will not move on its own or that the sparks will not ignite hatred). Lena has also a weakness for fairies, so if you decide to enter the portal leading to the worlds created by her whimsical imagination, be prepared to meet at least their mixed-blood descendants.

I absolutely loved this book! Heart’s Escape is definitely worth a read if you love ACOTAR. I love how the author has given the fae world a completely unique perspective. I really could not put the book down. The world building was incredible, the characters were lovable or hatable, depending on who they were! Read this- you won’t regret it!

I absolutely loved House of Arsceneaux by Caterina Novelliere! The characters were wonderful, the storyline was unpredictable and I could not put it down! Just when I thought I had it figured out, I glanced at the number of pages left and was super curious what major event was going to happen. The fantasy world was intriguing but also believable. Looking forward to reading more of her works! You will definitely enjoy this book- 10/10 recommend!

Diving into the third book in the Realm Chronicles series was more than I could have hoped for! I had high expectations since the first two books were amazing, and somehow Tricia Copeland STILL blew me away. My picky, detailed brain loved the list of the Royal Families of Middle Earth before the first chapter. Queen Titania is no meek female protagonist. She is strong-willed and can back up any claim she makes. She is trying to save her kingdom, fend off other royals, and find a suitable husband. If that isn’t a marvel all in itself, I don’t know what is. The author continued the perfect flow of the story and their intricate world-building rivals the previous books. I highly recommend picking this book (and series) up, especially if you enjoy the YA and urban fantasy genres!

This last in the series proves to be such a powerful end as well as showcase Titana as the Queen of Aruben. With seeking the rightful one to rule together and the right tools to lead her people, these are the main focuses the Queen faces . I’m very much enjoyed all the fantasy, action driven moments in Copeland’s work.

I picked this book up immediately after finishing the first in the series, and it’s amazing that the books connect so flawlessly. I feel like I picked up right where I left off. Titania is an amazing character with this incredible amount of grit and perseverance that I just love. She makes such a magnificent heroine and is sure to rub some of her character off on you. I usually don’t find that I enjoy the second book in a series MORE than the first, but this one definitely did it for me. I dare you to start this book and find a way to close it. I highly recommend picking this up (as well as the rest of the series) because you will find yourself engrossed from page 1!

I dove headfirst into this series mainly because of the gorgeous cover. I definitely became even more excited after realizing who the author was as I have enjoyed all of the books I’ve read by her. I always appreciate maps in the beginning of books as well. It lets me envision the story a little bit better. Tricia Copeland does a wonderful job with scenery and world-building with this beautiful fae story. I felt it took me just a bit to fall into the groove of the story in the beginning, but once I was hooked, I couldn’t put it down! There is raw emotion, magic, and adventure woven throughout. Fans of fantasy mixed with action rejoice because this one is for you!

Another entertaining and action seeking read in the second installment in this series. This one starts as Titania starts to find her place as Queen and leader of Aubren. She seeks knowledge in order to make sure she is leading her people in the right manner and using her abilities to help. Unfortunately this all leads to being accused of treason and those who were once strong allies start to distance themselves from her when they are needed the most. As this story continues and is introduced to great characters, I cannot wait to read the last installment in this series!

Titania is such a strong female lead. Already from the beginning, she is determined to defend her land and people at whatever cost. At the traumatic loss of her brothers, she tries to prove to her father that she is more than capable and ready. After a sudden attack, it is time to take her place as Queen. Although she was very determined at first to lead and defend her people, this 15 year old struggles with leadership and is distracted by what most teenage girls deal with…boys! Copeland introduces other magical elements as well as the distinction of Middle Earth. This was such a great read and I’m looking forward to the next two.

Queen Titania returns in this third instalment of this series and as the sole monarch of her realm, she has had a lot on her plate for the last ten months, but it seems that the challenges she always seems to be facing are not stopping any time soon. Her first hurdle she has to cross is making appearances at important events across the kingdom, however, there is an extra stress added when she is unaware of some traditions and has to balance time with her family and time with the other heads of the surrounding kingdoms, not to mention that her father has been approached by some of them with offers of courtship and marriage, much to her horror!
Meanwhile, she returns to her day to day life running her kingdom, however, nothing quite goes to plan and she has a request for her presence by the those she has helped in the past and yet again, they are asking for her assistance. The suitors whom approached her father come to her abode during the festivities and begin the negotiations, one of which she flats out refuses, however, she does agree to the rest and now has to arrange visits between the kingdoms on top of her preparations for the seasons as they pass through, she does have help from her father to prepare some history and information about each suitor so that she can have some knowledge of their kingdoms, as well as the suitors themselves.
As the tasks pile on to Titania’s shoulders, her research into solutions for the many issues she is facing has led her to an ancient prophecy about one who will defeat all of the evil in the land and as she is reading into it more, she begins to realise that she is possibly the fae it is describing, there is one problem with it though, her magical abilities are still not manifesting and it is another thing to add to her list of worries. As the suitors dogging her every step, requests from all around her for assistance and generally running her kingdom, Titania is both physically and emotionally battling through her responsibilities, but as the danger grows, she is determined not to let it all bury her, but will she be able to remain stoic as she struggles to maintain control of her life and her kingdom? This is a story which is full of twists and turns, as well as showcasing the pressures of coming of age, while shouldering the responsibilities of someone much older and thus proving her worth to those around her, in this complex and engaging story.

To be a Fae Legend is Book Three in the Realm Chronicles series. Tatiana is now seventeen and looking forward to some rest and relaxation after the harrowing ordeals that she endured in book two. When her mother told her the prophecy that bad things happen in threes she could not have been more right. More evil is lurking out there and it is up to Tatiana to fight to save her family, her people, and her kingdom. Tatiana must also make a choice between her suitors, even if that choice puts the needs of the kingdom before what her heart wants.
This series has been so splendidly written that it has captured my attention since the first book. If you have not done so, I highly recommend reading them in order as each book continues and builds up on the story from the previous one. The author’s writing style is so vivid and accurate that it immerses the reader fully into the setting and story along with the characters. Tatiana has grown and matured as both a person and as Queen of her kingdom. She is forward-thinking, smart, strong willed, determined, motivated, brave, and feisty. It is admirable how Tatiana faces evil forces head-on and does what she can to protect her kingdom and those she loves, which often means putting their needs before her own. A fantastic read with suspense, danger, magic, action, danger, and the battle of good versus evil.

To be a Fae Guardian is Book Two in the Realm Chronicles series. This book starts off where the first book left off and builds on the story. There is immediately some suspense and intrigue as Titania’s adventures continue. As she has taken on her duties in her role as Queen, Titania has grown, matured, and adapts to each situation and obstacle that comes her way. Although she struggles to believe in herself and her abilities, she does the best that she can for her kingdom. In her most recent adventure, Titania must fight to save her kingdom from evil forces that threaten to destroy Middle Earth.
Yet another great book by this talented author whose writing style draws you completely into the story. The attention to detail and vivid descriptions make the reader feel as though they are there in the story as it unfolds. The characters are fantastic, and it was nice to see Tatiana’s growth as a character as she tried to settle into her role and duties as Queen. Tatiana may be young, but she has some strong opinions on how to run and protect the kingdom that not everyone agrees with. In saving her kingdom from the Kobold she broke the rules of the High Council and is accused of treason. Being Queen does not save her from having to be punished but it does not deter her from trying to save the Fae from the evil forces that threaten to destroy her realm. Queen Tatiana must rise to the challenge with grace, courage, strength, and determination. I highly recommend this great read.

To be a Fae Queen is Book One in the Realm Chronicles series. We are introduced to fifteen-year-old Titania, a faerie princess who is preparing to be Queen. Although she has been training for years, she is feeling unprepared for the role at such a young age and is undecided if she is ready for the role of Queen. Her family is broken and still grieving from the loss of her four brothers which has left her mom in a catatonic state. Her brothers lost their lives in battle with the Kobold which left Titania as the last of her line. Titania must be brave and prepare for her role as Queen even if she does not feel ready. As she does so she must decide who she can trust as she is met with resistance from forces both inside and outside of the castle walls.
This was the first book that I have read by this author, but it will not be the last. I loved the author’s writing style and was completely immersed in the story through the author’s vivid descriptions. The characters were captivating, and easily relatable. My heart went out to Titania’s mom as she grieved for the loss of her sons. It was truly heartbreaking to think about the immense grief and sadness over such a tragedy. I especially liked the character of fifteen-year-old Titania, who did not let her young age stop her from preparing for her role as Queen. Through her sadness, grief, loss, and fear she musters up the strength and courage to do what is best for her kingdom even though it means putting it before her own needs. We see her grow as a character, gaining years of wisdom in a short time. Through the obstacles she overcomes we can see that Titania is strong, smart, determined, and feisty. This book has action, suspense, mystery, magic, faeries, and drama in the age-old battle of good versus evil. Now onto book two.

This is another amazing tale from one of my favorite authors. These books are absolutely priceless and make the journey from beginning to end so worth the time it takes to read. I would definitely recommend that you read these in order as you will miss several important details if you don’t. Queen Tatiana is under enormous stress and now believes she is the prophesied one who can end all suffering and save her kingdom. She is in a race against the clock to learn how to use the power she recently discovered, find a husband and save everyone! You can’t miss with this series it is amazing! The details and the storyline are rock solid and produce vivid pictures that enhance your enjoyment.
