Out of The Shadows by Theresa Sederholt 5 out of 5 Stars Dane Johnson, a man so broken by the secret he is holding that it is tearing him apart. Warning that this book may trigger some people who are sensitive to acts of violence, both mentally and on some base, physically, so If you are more tenderhearted than others, this book may be a bit much for you, so tread carefully. Having said all of that, this book is beautifully written from Dane’s point of view. While not wanting to give you too much of what happens, this story is so heartbreaking, so emotionally charged, and so devastating that you are both crying and cheering for Dane at the same time. I feel that I am a better person for reading this book. I highly recommend this book for lovers of all book genres.

Out Of The Shadows by Theresa Sederholt was a super emotional read. Unlike anything I have leaped into before. My heart felt for Dane and Brady. It was a shock to read the situation from a man’s point of view, definitely something under represented. I was torn between stopping for emotional breaks and also just reading straight in one sitting.

OMG this story wrecked me emotionally. Dane is a 30 something year old man who is keeping a secret in hopes of protecting himself and his 13 year old son. One night changes everything and now everyone is going to know the secret he has been keeping, but that’s not even his biggest worry, he might lose his son. This story gripped me from the start. The author did an exceptional job writing this story and opening my eyes to a new perspective. This book touched my heart and in a way that I don’t have words to express. I am just going to say this is a 5 star read and I highly recommend this story.

A KISS BENEATH A STRAWBERRY MOON was a good 4 star read and book three in the Daydreams & Dragonflies Rock ‘N Sweet Romance series.
This is a good story about young love between Marielle and Drew. They both have a love for music and Drew helps Marielle see just how talented she is. They fall in love over the summer and when Drew goes home for a few days before going back to college he finds himself in a situation that leaves his father turning his back on him. The only choice that Drew is left with is to join the military.
Marielle and Drew agree to keep in touch while she tours and he is in the service. They have some situations and people that challenge them and try and keep them apart. When Marielle loses all contact with Drew, she’s not sure what to think.
Where is he? Will their love be strong enough to keep them together?
There are a few twists and turns that added a great element to the story. This was a short read that I rated as 4 star only because I felt like some areas were rushed. I would have liked to have seen more from Drews situation with his step-mom and Marielle’s issue with her manager. We jump through time fairly quickly in some areas. Overall it is a great story and I look forward to reading more from Tamara. It’s fun reading a book that mentions cities that are not far from where I live in Wisconsin. Firstly if I could give this more stars I would! Wow, just Wow. “This is a journey into one man’s hell, with the hope that it will help others find the strength to be able to say, I need help”. Out of the Shadows by Theresa Sederholt is a story about Dane Johnson and his teenage son Brady, they both share a secret and that is that they are both victims of domestic violence at the hands of Julie, Dane’s teenage sweetheart and Brady’s mother. Sederholt takes the reader on an emotional rollercoaster as we are given a glimpse into Dane and Brady’s life. Told from their point of views it is so well written that I felt I was there with them, I felt what they were feeling. I was there as Brady cowers in his closet with his noise cancelling headphones on and when Dane has a glass or a mug thrown at him from across the room which only misses him because he has got so used to dodging flying objects that his wife has thrown. This novel is not only a great read but it also has such a powerful message about domestic violence in particular when the victim is the man in the relationship rather than the ‘normal’ scenario in books which focuses on the women as the victim. Everything that happens has such a ring of truth to it that I was overcome with emotions reading this gripping domestic drama. I won’t give away any spoilers but things do come to a dramatic head and Dane and Brady’s secrets have to come out. Along with a selection of other great characters all of whom have their own detailed backstory the plot moves along at a fast pace. With the help of Brady’s best friend Danni and guidance counsellor Abby who is battling her own demons as a victim of her husbands violence towards her in the past and lawyer Josh, father and son realise they are not alone and that for anything to change they need to ask for help. A clever twist near the end is how Sederholt suddenly gives us a chapter from Julie’s point of view and suddenly we see the situation not from victims Dane and Brady’s view point but from the women causing the violence. I literally could not put this book down, full of twists and turns it was an unpredictable read, the drama builds with each chapter and leads to a dramatic outcome. I feel the book is very sympathetically written by the author and that she has done her research into domestic violence. I hope this book does what the author obviously intended and that is not just to give us a brilliant novel to read but also to raise awareness of domestic violence in all forms. Information is given at the end of the book of organisations who can help those experiencing domestic violence and also alcohol addiction. I can not recommend this book highly enough.

I have yet to read a book by Tamara Ferguson that I have not absolutely adored reading. She writes some sweet romances that will literally transplant you into the love story from beginning to end. When I saw the cover for A KISS BENEATH A STRAWBERRY MOON I knew I had to get my hands on this book! It literally screamed, read me lol.
I loved the sweet romance that develops between Marielle and Drew, and I even more so love the reality that Ferguson writes into their relationship. Life never goes smoothly, it’s all about the forks in the road, and Ferguson keeps it real with her stories. I wasn’t even one bit expecting the ending but I loved that element as well. This is a perfect sweet read for a rainy Sunday, or any day. I can’t wait to see what we will get next from the ever talented Tamara Ferguson!

FLOWERS IN DECEMBER TRILOGY: Flowers in December, Coming Home, Second Chance by Jane Suen. This is such a good sweet romance trilogy. In Flowers in December we meet Connor who is returning home to bury his mom and live with his mom’s orange tabby cat Tom. When he goes to the Florist to get flowers for the funeral he meets Mary Ann the owner of the Flower shop. Mary Ann is not looking for romance but when she meet Connor sparks fly. Will they be able to make their relationship work between Connor grieving his mom and his past? In Coming Home the story continues to follow Connor and his cat Tom as he returns to his childhood home. He is trying to figure out his life all the while still grieving his mom when he meets Alana his neighbors estranged daughter who is in the midst of a family fall out. In Second Chance we pick back up with Conner and Mary Ann. Conner has a huge crush on her but he is still processing everything and he’s not sure he’s up to a relationship. As he comes back to the small town his mom lived he realizes that’s where he belongs and who he belongs with. Can he win Mary Ann back after leaving town? Jane Suen’s Flowers in December trilogy is a fabulous set of books that I have really loved reading multiple times since the first one came about. I was so excited when I saw these books would be offered in a full set. I love books that do that as a series because they become instantly easier to gift and spread the love. Below you will find my reviews for each book.
Flowers in December: Book #1
“You’re my pride and joy, always remember this.”
“Connor lay crumpled next to her coffin, not willing to get up just yet, not ready to leave. He let his mind wander, thinking abut his mother, himself as a little boy. This was the one time; the one trip Connor had never wanted to take.”
This was such a compelling short read by Jane Suen. We first meet Connor grappled with grief at the casket of his mother. It has been a long time since Connor has come home and now it’s too late to really even call it home. He was the only one left of his small family, besides his mom’s cat Tom. This book is a brief but profound journey of grief. We follow Connor in the year after his mother’s death, and see what grief really does to him. I loved meeting all the characters of the small town where he grew up and how they all played a role in the grieving process.
This book was really wonderful and had a great way of being brief yet covering all the processes of grief that overcomes anyone who has experienced a loss, especially one of a parent. I have not read any other works by Jane Suen but I am really anticipating finding out what other works she has and devouring them. I loved her writing style and that she was able to express so much in such a short book. This was a five-star read for me hands down. There are a few quotes that I just loved and wrote down as I was reading this book that I will close my review with. I think that they really express what it meant for Connor to process the death of his mother and all that it entailed.

For her was here, among all these people, in this sacred place, surrounded by beauty, music, and love… there would be no sorrow. No sorrow would be sent to her along the way where she must go now. Coming Home: Book #2
I was pleasantly surprised when I saw this pop up on my feed. I had absolutely adored Flowers in December and was left wanting more, not with loose ends, but still wanting some more of Connor and what would come next for him. This was that and so much more. We just happen to get a lot more than we may have even bargained for. I would highly recommend that you read the first book, Flowers in December before devouring this one, everything will flow and make sense so much more. This one is obviously a holiday/Christmas story but I really feel as if I will be pulling this gem out any time of year, whenever I need an emotional and yet encouraging read. I almost feel as if these two books together would create a great Hallmark Christmas movie. I can’t wait to find out what will come next from Jane Suen! I am sure it will be fantastic whatever it will be, and on my to be read list! Happy reading!
Second Chance: Book #3
Jane Suen’s The Flowers in December Trilogy has been some of my favorite contemporary romance novels that I have read as of late. I enjoy how she manages to hook be deep into the story before I even finish the first few pages of a book she has penned. I loved Second Chance, the third and final book in the series, the most out of all of them. This book really closed the trilogy in a perfect and beautiful way that I just could not get enough of.
I would recommend that you read the first two novels prior to this one if you haven’t. I feel this series has evolved in both writing strength and the characters themselves. I suppose if you really wanted you could read them as stand alones though. This one brings us the conclusion of Connor’s story. He is our main character and really has changed so much from the very first book we read him in. I have probably just fallen in love with his character more and I never thought that was possible after book two. I look forward to finding out what will come next from the ever talented Jane Suen.

Out of the Shadows by Theresa Sederholt a fulfilling five-star read. Considering this is such a short read, my emotions feel like I have read a huge saga I can’t believe the author managed to fill so much emotional power in these few pages, it shows us what a talented author we have here. This is a powerful story about secrets, emotions and Dane. Get ready to read this story with tissues and something to comfort you, wine or chocolate and possibly an animal if you have one to hand to snuggle up to as they will help (and if you get desperate the are useful to wipe on). This will leave you with a great sense for other people and what they may face in life, it will open you up and leave you raw, but don’t despair as its so worth reading.

Out Of The Shadows was an emotional 5 star read. I was pulled in right from the beginning.
My heart broke right from the beginning with what Dane was going through. Dane is in an abusive relationship and things take a tragic twist and Dane and his son Brady’s lives are turned upside down. Dane was trying to protect his son but now that their secret is out things have changed.
Will Dane get out of his situation before it’s too late?
Overall I really enjoyed this read. My emotions were all over the place. This is a story that had the abuse victim as the husband in the marriage and it really makes you think and realize that this is a reality for some. This author has done a great job of pulling you in with her writing. All of the secondary characters were great. I had a few ugly cry moments as well. I will warn that there may be triggers for some. As a whole I enjoyed this series. The author brought some amazing characters to life through these pages. A lot of lessons were learned and lives changed. I found that the characters had great moments of growth and understanding. You could feel the characters emotions through the pages. I really think this is a series you could fall in love with. I’ve come to enjoy this authors work. The stories have that filling sensation. That you know you can read the last book and be satisfied. Your left feeling like their HEA was complete. The author has a great flow with words. I love the attention to detail as well. If you haven’t read anything from this author this is a great place to start.

A KISS BENEATH A STRAWBERRY MOON (Daydreams & Dragonflies Rock ‘N Sweet Romance 3) by Tamara Ferguson. Once again this author draws me in immediately with an incredible storyline and characters I won’t forget. I’ve read quite a few books from this amazing author and each one is even better than the last. This one can definitely be read as a stand-alone without any confusion. It’s a sweet story that I couldn’t put down. The characters are complex and relatable, well thought out and even the smallest details are taken seriously. I love a story that make me forget I’m reading and while on the shorter side it did just that. The characters have a great chemistry and I enjoyed their stories so much. It’s well written and paced nicely never feeling rushed or lacking anything. Five stars all the way and highly recommended!

This is a wonderful trilogy by an author who always intrigues me with her writing! I have read a few books by her now and I really enjoy her unique and creative writing style. She creates really interesting characters and I thoroughly enjoy everything I have read by her. This trilogy includes three wonderful stories; they are so full of emotion and feeling that I felt like I was right there with the characters. I really felt for Connor and the loss he went through in book 1 in the trilogy – Flowers in December – I really did feel like I was right there with him on his journey of self-discovery. In Coming Home (book 2) I was really looking forward to seeing how Connor was coping in the second instalment to Flowers in December – book 1 was very emotional following Connor and his grief over losing his mother and again his emotions flowed through this story but in a different way. This story was more about him making his peace with everything and moving on with his life. I loved seeing Mary-Ann back in his life and also some other secondary characters. We got snippets into a few of the other characters too which was nice. Although the story didn’t end up as I thought and maybe wanted I still enjoyed reading about Connor again. Second Chance (book 3) we get to see more from Connor and just how he is dealing with everything in his life. I love Connor and everything that he has been through. He is genuinely a lovely character and I definitely wouldn’t complain if I had a Connor in my life! This really is a wonderful trilogy and one that I highly recommend!

Again another absolutely wonderful read from this author! I have loved every single book of hers that I have read. A Kiss Beneath a Strawberry Moon was such a heart-warming and emotional read. I fell in love with the characters, Marielle and Drew straight away. I took them both into my heart and I was on the edge of my seat whilst devouring their story with all of its twists and turns. Drew was such a thoughtful and caring character and when he and Marielle met I knew how I wanted their story to turn out! Both of these characters really go through an emotional time in this story and the author did such an amazing job of conveying their feelings across to me as the reader, I really felt like I was there at times in the story. Her writing is always beautifully detailed – one of the many things I love about her! I 100% recommend this story and as always I look forward to more from her!

OH MY GOODNESS!! OH MY GOODNESS!! This story is one of the best stories I have read in a long time. Theresa Sederholt can build a world in her writings that I was catapulted into. Her character development is complex. Her plot line is engaging and I could not put the book down until I finished it. This story is about Dane. He has a secret that he does not want to come out of his closet, but that may be happening. He is on a fast lane to hell. Will Dane be able to climb his way out of hell? Can he remain strong? I highly recommend this book.

5 Star FLOWERS IN DECEMBER TRILOGY: Flowers in December, Coming Home, Second Chance by Jane Suen This is an amazing Trilogy that I absolutely loved reading and had a hard time putting it down. This trilogy is about love,loss, and second chances. Get ready to be taken on quite the emotional rollercoaster ride with these three stories. There are moment that absolutely broke my heart but then there were moments that warmed my heart. This Author does an amazing job with the details and the characters are very well developed and easily relatable. They show us Mary Ann and Carter’s relationship and their struggles. I simply can’t recommend this Trilogy enough. It’s a must read!

The Flowers in December Trilogy is a collection of Flowers in December, Coming Home and Second Chance by Jane Suen. I have read most of her books, as I really enjoy them. This series started off slow for me, but by the end I was glad to have read it.
Flowers in December by Jane Suen was a good book, with a hard topic. It is about a man who returns home, after his mother’s death, to handle her affairs and estate. He must confront his past, and decide on his future. Does he want to sell his parents house, and continue his life, which is often empty and lonely? Or take a risk and move back to his small home town, that he fled from as soon as he turned 18? The author does a good job of addressing the hard topics, and feelings associated with death of a parent. We can see and feel Connor grieve, and work his way through loss, lonliness and regret. I enjoyed the characters and their relationships, and the small town feel. Connor seemed a little immature to me, but he flowed with the story. The author did a good job developing the town, including businesses and supporting characters. I have read other works by this author, and while it was not my favorite, I still give it 4 stars and would recommend it to others. While it dealt with some heavy topics, it scratched the surface and kept it mild and cheerful enough for a younger audience to enjoy, and I think that was the intention of the author. I loved the ending, but I wont spoil it.
Coming Home didn’t end the way I wanted it to, but it left it open for the 3rd book. I kept expecting, and hoping for 2 things to happen, that didn’t. I can’t say what, as it is a spoiler, but just be warned, don’t get your hopes up for a sappy romantic ending. I love the part of the story regarding Alana and her mother, but Mary Ann’s story didn’t end as expected. But, anyone who has read any of the authors books knows that’s normal. She always seems to put a twist in at the end which I sometimes love and sometimes want to scream, in a true page turner fashion. The story continues to follow Connor Norton, after he and his cat, Tom return to his childhood home. In the previous book, his mother passed away, and he is still grieving. He has to make some decisions about the next steps for his life, and rekindles some friendships along the way.
Second Chance is the Conclusion of the Flowers in December trilogy. All 3 books are short and sweet. I’m glad for the wrap up and happy ending for Connor and Mary Ann. Connor has been struggling since his mother passed away, trying to find his place in the world. He was left with her house and her cat, and memories, which caused a lot of internal struggle for him. We go into this final book knowing of his crush on Mary Ann, and her struggle with her feelings. Connor thinks he ruined his chances when he went back to the city, and is debating if he should fight to win her back. This was my favorite book in the series, because I could see both characters mature and be strong. Set aside a weekend, cuddle up with a blanket and tea, and knock out the whole series.

Out of the Shadows is the first book I have read by Theresa Sederholt, but it won’t be the last. This book needs a strong disclaimer/warning because it has some graphic descriptions of abuse. However, as long as you are not triggered by that, then you should read it! It is terrifying and heartbreaking to read, but at the same time I couldn’t put it down. The book is wonderfully written, alternating views as well as present time and past story. The book follows Dane Johnson in his fight to escape an abusive wife. He has dealt with it for years, and strives to protect their son from it, but it has reached a point that enough is enough. He fears the stigma attached to male victims and worries he won’t be believed or the story will be twisted against him. But sometimes all you need is one person to stand by you and help you through it. This is that story.

This is a story that everyone should read. I am a victim of domestic violence and I honestly never thought about it from the perspective of the male being the victim. This book really made me think about how that would look. Where would they go? Do they have the resources that are available to women? Who would believe them? And having children in that situation is a million times worse! I made it through this story unscathed…or so I thought. As soon as I read the last sentence and closed the book it all hit me. I balled like a baby! Getting to know Dane’s story deeply touched my soul.
This is a quick read that will not only make you think but will have you wanting to reach out and find ways to help. To see what your communities are lacking and what you can do about it. It will open your mind and touch your heart. Domestic violence and mental illness are more common than you know. This story touches on some very serious scenarios that are at times difficult to read about but it is well worth it to read every word. Grab this one up. You will be glad you did!

Out of the Shadows by Theresa Sederholt is a book that will stay with you for a while. It rips you apart and leaves you laying in pieces. It will also give you hope. From the first book I picked up by this writer, I have gone back each time another of her books pops up on my radar. She has her way with words, the images she paints in your mind are powerful and they stay with you. She is not afraid to tackle sensitive subjects and when she does, she takes such care that you feel cared for. Out of the Shadows is another one of those subjects that are not so much talked about. She grabs you from the first page and doesn’t let go. You are there, with Brady and Dane, and you are confused first and once you realized what you have ‘walked into’, you are stuck … you cry, you laugh, you hope and you have a deeper understanding of what so many struggle with and what it takes to survive! I wish I could give more than 5 stars …

Flowers in December Trilogy by Jane Suen is a great family base story. This trilogy is about raw emotions: hope, loss, love, and second chances. Jane Suen does a wonderful job creating multi layers, fully developed characters. The stories flowed easily from one page to another page to the next book in the series. I found myself in the story with Mary Ann and Connor’s relationship and their life choices and situations. The story does have a roller coaster ride of ups and downs so I would make sure you have kleenex by you. I encourage you to read this trilogy because you will not regret it.

Flowers in December Trilogy By Jane Suen 4 Stars!!!!
I have read this whole series and I really highly recommend it. I find that this author has a very refreshing writing style and she brings the characters and story to life. I also like how she writes and deals with real life issues.
The first book Flowers in December really hit home to me as I had also recently lost my mom. I really could relate to Conner. The author really writes this journey very well. I found that I could really relate to a lot of the emotions he was going through and the regret. I truly was glued to the pages and found that in a way it actually helped me to sort through my own grief.
The second book Coming Home again was another stage of the grief process. I found that I was quite eager to see how Conner would adjust to the new circumstances and how he would adjust. I like how the author starts off the new journey as his grief transforms through the stages. I like how Mary Ann comes into his life but by the end of the book I am on the edge of my seat to see what would happen and the way Conner messes up in the end. I was so eager for the finale book to see how things would unfold.
The third book Second Chance really grabbed me from the get go. I liked the way that the author began the romance slow as it as the title says a second chance. I really like how the author’s writing style isn’t predictable. This third book I felt the chemistry between Conner and Mary Ann and was glad that all ended well in the end. It was such a great ending to the series. I really recommend this author and her books. I look forward to reading more from her in the future.

Out Of The Shadows by Theresa Sederholt. This is a new to me author. WOW!!! What an emotional, amazing book. My heart absolutely broke for both Dane and Brady. The torture and torment that they both went through was absolutely devastating. While it took a lot for me to emotionally get through this book, I could not put it down…. I was engulfed in the story and I couldn’t get to the end fast enough.

Out Of The Shadows is the first book I have read by Theresa Sederholt, but definitely won’t be the last. This book is a real heartbreaker. I never really thought about domestic violence where the man is the one being abused, but Ms. Sederholt really opened my eyes on this subject. I have to say, this book is going to wrench your heat out and stomp on it. I went through a half a box of tissues while reading. The characters were detailed, and the subject was heartbreaking. I am amazed how well Ms. Sederholt portrayedthis sensitive subjects. I can’t wait to get my hands on Ms. Sederholt’s other stories.

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading Jane Suen’s Flowers in December Trilogy, so it’s great that the three books are now collected into one volume! When I finished the first book, I was eager to find out what happened next so being able to seamlessly segue into the next book (and the one after!) is a big advantage! It’s a heart-warming wintery romance story that follows Connor as he copes with the grief of losing his mother and re-evaluates his life. His priority so far has been working his way up the business ladder, chasing promotions at the exclusion of all else. Returning home to bury his mother reminds him of everything he missed. It’s a hard journey but, with the help of Tom the cat (who disapproves strongly to city life) Connor figures out what matters most to him. I particularly like how we see the broader cast of characters develop over the course of the books. It’s particularly seeing how the relationship between Mrs Rainer and her daughter, Alana, unfolds – especially after everything Mrs Rainer has done for Connor! When I read the books separately, I rated them either four or five stars. The added convenience of having all the books together bumps this up to a five-star collection! I’d recommend it for snuggling up with on cold winter’s days – it would make a great holiday read!

This emotional rollercoaster destroyed me in the best possible way. I really don’t have adequate words to express how much I loved it in its heartbreaking detail. I was emotionally invested immediately and am so thankful, even through the tears, that this ended up in my library.

Oh My God! I don’t know where to start with this review. This book totally blew me away. Firstly, total kudos for Theresa Sederholt of tackling such a difficult taboo subject. Secondly, unless you have a swinging brick for a heart then you will need tissues for this book. A whole big box of them, This story deals with the subject of physical and mental abuse but in this case it is the husband who is being abused. The story is told from the POV of Dane Johnson and also his 13 year old son Brady. It is heartbreaking and emotional and will leave you a wreck. Subject to horrendous abuse by his deranged wife Julie, Dane will do everything he can to keep his son Brady safe, but what happens when Brady tries to help his dad and Julie turns on him? We read lots of stories where women are the subject of abuse and we tend to forget that this is not a women only issue. There are men out there who are on the receiving end too. Reading Dane’s story of why he didn’t walk away and why he felt he couldn’t ask for help is totally heartbreaking. I devoured this book in one sitting. I just could not put it down, as I was so gripped by the story. I’d give this book more than 5 stars if I could.

This series is an absolute MUST READ..Jane Suen is a master storyteller who quickly became one of my favorite authors. I think I’ve read every single book she has out and will add to that as she does.
Flowers in December Book 1 – I was able to feel every single feeling that Connor was feeling in this book. I lost my Mom just a few years ago and it changed my life. This story was as real as it gets, there was no added drama and major twists and turns, I did kind of feel like I knew what was going to happen but it was more like it was what I was hoping would happen, and I’ve let my imagination take over the rest.
Coming Home Book 2 – I loved Flowers in December and at the end knew I needed more because something was happening and being implied and then it was done and my imagination took it from there. Many Thanks to Jane Suen for seeing this, and knowing that her readers needed more and then delivering.
So much was going on in this very short story but you never feel like anything was crammed in or get confused…She touched on many emotions and feelings and I’m just not going to give anything away so you will have to pick this story up, but please don’t start here, you must read Flowers in December first, this is where you will really get to know Connor Norton, and Tom.
Second Chance Book 3 – Many many thank yous to this author for giving us this book. I loved the first 2 but was a bit sad with the end of the 2nd. I had no idea this one was coming and I was so happy when I saw it. This had to be one of the best book 3’s of a trilogy yet, I’m thinking because I wanted it so much!
I was a bit concerned with going back in time here and there through memories but found that it gave me a better understanding of who Mary Ann was. I loved the small town and this whole story felt so real, along with all the other feels you get from reading this last book in what is a wonderful series. I can’t wait to read it again back to back now that I have all three. 🙂
The one thing you dont do when you read any of this authors books is go in thinking you know how everything is going to go because she will show you the meaning of what a twist and a turn means and have you sitting there at the end going ..What just happened? She shows you that a twist doesn’t have to be explosive or a throw your kindle moment, she does it in a slow crawl where you have no idea it’s even happening. LOVED THIS SERIES!!!

My jaw is on the floor. Omg I can’t believe what I just read. Its unimaginable but so real. To think that someone finally got the courage to say me too for men. It’s so sad that men do get the same benefit of belief that women do when they cry out for help. This story was too real. I felt like the author did an amazing job writing this story. It wasn’t too much and had the right amount of background. It would be nice to know what Julie was truly thinking and feeling. I am truly at a loss for words though. The trauma Brady experienced at the hands of his own mother. The one person meant to love him unconditionally. I cried because its unimaginable to me as a mother to do these things to my child. To physically harm them to the point that they could possibly die. Its unfathomable. I know they author heart broke with every word of this story. I see this as an eye opener for me. That we can’t take everything at face value. If the father hadn’t reacted the way he did. The outcome of this story wouldn’t be the one needed.

I have known that the works of Theresa Sederholt are emotional reads up until now but this book sincerely threw me for the hills of tears. I was probably bawling through this majority of this book, like ugly cry tears. Dane and his son will swallow you up with their tragic story of bearing the brunt of an awful and abusive situation. The twist? His wife is the bad guy. Abuse is a topic that is difficult to read on any level but to see it from a male perspective was just absolutely eye opening. I have seen a friend of mine go through something similar and I just wanted to find him and hug him the moment I finished this novel since I couldn’t reach out to Dane in real life. This book is a taboo topic but it is done perfectly. You can tell that Sederholt really put her blood sweat and tears into this novel. It shows with the way you feel the characters as they do and you find yourself so completely wrapped up in Dane’s world. I can’t find enough good things to say about this novel and I so look forward to seeing what else will come next from the ever talented Theresa Sederholt!
