We are now into year 2 of Grave Digger Academy for Makayla. Her family finally treats her like herself again after they hear what her mother has been hiding. She knows the academy is keeping her there since they know her ancestry, so she’s going to make this school the best it can be for her. There are academy competitions coming up against all the other schools, so no one was transferred as they need all the bodies they can get. She’s with her friends, and they go through a lot more together in year 2! Give this series a shot!

Sometimes second books in a series don’t live up to the quality of the first book, but I thought the author did a good job making the transition feel smooth. I thought the second book was just as enjoyable as the first. It was nice to already have an understanding of the main characters and basic plot, but getting to see the growth into the second year was interesting. Looking forward to the rest of the series!

What a terrific first book to this exciting trilogy! Wilf is a 16 year old soccer player that just wants to live like a normal kid. Unfortunately, not gonna happen, he’s sucked into the world of wizards and witches. He has to save the witches from a horrid virus going around. I found the characters amazing. The development and detail put in took so much time. They are so accurately described and easy to picture. I found the drama and adventure to be exciting and engaging. This is edge of your seat action. You have to know what’s coming up. The plot fs well laid out and flows smoothly. Great YA book and even for us older people into fantasy books. I can’t wait to start the next one.

Overall this is a story that really picked up towards the end. The beginning is slower and at times confusing about what is going on. It just did not seem to flow well in the beginning or middle. It really picked up and made more sense towards the ending. I feel this storyline (which is truly different) has a lot of places it could go and intriguing characters that could be built upon. I liked the ideas of getting to the school the games and the other kids attitudes. The familiars are cute and the squirrel idea..fantastic.

The main character experiences a character growth spurt throughout the course of this book. He learns that friends are worth sacrificing for. He learns that secret desires, even when not acted upon, can become deadly. He grows to appreciate his mom. He even learns to accept help. I would definitely read another book by this author!
I wasn’t a fan. I spent most of the first half of Return of the Elf Lord utterly confused. I just didn’t understand how one thing went with another. However, I’m saying that just because the book wasn’t my forte, doesn’t mean it won’t be yours. The author gives you a story with a lot of meat. If you enjoy world war 2 and supernatural worlds this book is definitely for you. Of course there’s some time traveling tied in. And anyone who enjoys that knows that time traveling always causes a lot of chaos. So you can imagine where this all ends up going. The question being can the chaos be prevented? If not can it be repaired? Bernard was saved. However he can’t let go of the fact that he lost his family. He comes up with a plan to get them back. But unfortunately doesn’t understand the consequences that plan will cause. He’s blinded by the fact of wanting his wife and kids back. By the fact he’s gaining a power he didn’t have before that can help him in his conquest. He’s been warned to let the past remain, unfortunately he doesn’t heed that warning. Freyja and Alva are trying to stop him. Will they be too late? Alva has her own issues going on, so Bernard being selfish doesn’t help her deal with those. Her people are at wits end with leadership. Her mom is weak and perishing. But for her to be able to deal with those issues they need to prevent Bernard from rocking every world and realm. This is a story about a man who is having trouble letting go. A woman’s acceptance of who she and her people are. Does that bring them together? Balance and equality through the world & realms. Again the author put together a good story worth the read. I took a chance and struck out. Doesn’t mean it takes away from the artistry the author put on the pages. Definitely promising and I look to check another book out by this author in the future.

I enjoyed Curse of the Elf Lord way more than I enjoyed book 1. It wasn’t all over the place and confusing for me. A cohesive story that I feel was better written with more substance than the first book. We are diving deep into the supernatural world which is what drew me to this book in the first place. Though I’ve minimal Elven reference, my preference tends to stick to vampires and shifters. However, there’s more than Elves, there’s demons, gods, wolves, ect which I enjoyed. Mythology tying into books has a tendency to peak my interest as well. Especially if Hades is involved, but I digress. Emilien and Hel are at romantic odds. Estrangement is better, but what happens when they are forced to work together? Something is going on, beings in the different worlds are starting to disappear. Getting stuck in the Shadow Lands Emilien was thrown for a loop. He was also attacked too and warned to cease his quest after his brother and his wife. If it wasn’t for his connection with Hel he might not have made it back. Freyja believes it’s all tied together. Olivier and his wife’s disappearance and the missing beings from world’s that depend on them for survival. The author writes a wonderful story that pushes these two estranged characters back together. Wonderfully written she keeps you intrigued and wanting to know what happens next. I very well believe this works just as well as a stand-alone as well as a series. Now I think I need to jump into one of the authors’ other series because I’m realizing I may have another author to add to my list of favorites!

After finishing the first book in the Kingdome of the Elf Lords Series, Return of the Elf Lord I couldn’t wait to get my hands on book 2. The author continues to build on the magnificent world of the first book, but we are now learning about Emilien Elasalor, Bernard’s Uncle. He was cursed centuries earlier by a dark fae into the upright wolf that he is. Shortly into the book it was nice to be reminded of Bernard and Alva from the first book. Emilien had helped his nephew in Washington D.C. fighting the loose undead, a result of Bernard having changed the war’s timeline. Shalendra, is the perfect combination of Elf and God, her features that of an angel. Her entire life he had taken care of her, told her he was her brother only now to have run out of time and having to tell her the one secret he has kept from her, the most important. She was not his sister but his daughter. Only before he had been given the chance Shalendra alerts him to the blue glowing figures outside the window, five large Draugar and eight wolves circling them. The elf king Ailuin had sent the group to his home, which had been hidden for centuries, for Emilien to teach the wolves how to live in their new forms, rather they wished to or not. Because of the curse done to him the wolves before him and all others like him when his children, created using the notes of the dark fae that had changed him. Once again, the originality of Heidi Vanlandingham draws me in deeper and deeper with her Norse mythology mixing with history. How will Shalendra react to learning that her entire life has been a lie. The man, or better the wolf before her was not her brother but in fact her true father. Will Hel and Emilien be able to save their only daughter and will love reunite them after so long apart. I cannot wait to see what comes in the next book about Cyran and Shalendra’s story.

Fantasy and paranormal story from a new to me author? Yes, I took the chance to read this book even though I hadn’t read the previous books in the series. The author wrote the story in such a way to at least make me feel I needed to keep reading it and I was sucked in!
It didn’t take me long to find magic, paranormal beings, adventure, and so much more. It’s always refreshing to find a book that catches your interest similar to when you were younger and found a book that changed your favorite genre. I wish I had read the earlier books so I knew more of the characters we encountered in this book. I’m looking forward to some day getting that chance to read these books in order.

Curse of the Elf Lord is the second book in the Kingdom of the Elf Lords series. I highly recommend reading these books in order, as there is a lot you will miss otherwise. This is the first book I have read by Heidi Vanlandingham, and I was not disappointed. The way the author mixes Norse Mythology, with American History captures the reader from the first page. Bernard is a World War two veteran that lost everything in the beginning of the war that he loved, his wife and young children. Alva is a Huldra that was cast out along with her sisters when she was young.
Bernard thinks of only one thing when Freyja brings him back to life, why was he brought back and how can he get his family back. When he questions Freyja on why he has been brought back she tells him that his dear friends initially asked but that she had the final choice. He had not completed his true purpose, she questions him about his family, parents, siblings. Something about him seemed familiar but she couldn’t place it but vowed she always figures it out eventually. Alva was taken in by her father after her mother the Queen of the Huldra kicked her and her younger sisters out when she found new love. Now an adult Alva goes to visit her mother but is captured by the fiercest of her cousins, Maya. With the wrong actions but a worthy purpose Alva is held captive by her cousin for nine days before she is rescued by Freyja and her partner. For years the Huldra have been withering away due to lack of their primary source of energy, the life-force from males. Bernard can’t explain it but when he looks at his spy partner Alva, she helps him feel lighter, happier touching her cheek for a moment without thinking before disappearing after her rescue. Alva has never been like the Huldra, she refuses to kill her host taking only enough to survive no more. Lifetimes have passed and thanks to Maya questions are finally being asked, why must they fall in love with the male, losing the bark from their backs and losing their tails only to kill the male taking his life force and gaining the bark and tail back. Gytha the oldest living Huldra remembers a moment when she was young, her mother and grandmother speaking about a “curse”, but time has forgotten the rest. Tells Alva for answers she must travel to visit the Huldra Historian for answers on all she wishes to know.
Bernard set on bringing his family back to life puts odds between him and Heimdall. Alva is the voice of reason within the Huldra castle searching for peace amongst her family. Two actions set a new history in motion, with an outcome no one would have predicted, and why does Bernard see Alva’s face the moment he starts the new path. This book had me craving more, the mixture seemliest meddling together into something amazing. Heidi builds an amazing world and the characters equally amazing. I cannot wait to read the next book Curse of the Elf Lord.

This is a fantastic follow up to the first book in the series and I think was even better than book 1. I loved the story that the author created with this book. Its intriguing and well written, full of so many exciting features. The story and the characters complement each other so well. I w a pulled into both of them and couldn’t wait to see how things would unfold. This series is fantastic so far and if the following books keep up then this is shaping up to be a brilliant series. I am excited to see what will come next and would urge everyone to read these books.

This is the second book in the Kingdom of the Elf Lord series. After reading the first book I was excited to get my hands on this one. The author does an amazing job of creating world and characters and making paranormal creatures and Norse gods seem as real as me and you. This book is packed full of paranormal goings on with a mix of mythology in the Norse God’s. There is romance and Suspense and danger around the corner. I would recommend reading the books in order but if you do just pick this one up it would be just as enjoyable on its own.
In this story we follow the story of Émilien Elasalor and Hel.
Émilien is a cursed elf. Cursed to be a wolf and knowing there is no chance of a cure he put his focus on finding his family members that have disappeared while protecting his daughter. Hel is also known as the ice Queen. Her job is to rule over the dead. However because of that position she lost the two things she cared for in the world. Her love Émilien and their daughter.
When dead people start to go missing from her world Hel and Émilien need to put aside their difference and work together to figure out what new danger is out to get them. However things go from bad to worse when they discover that things aren’t what they seem and the next target is their precious daughter.
Can they work together to help protect their daughter and end the evil that is trying to rise up? Or will their difference be to much for them to forget even if it means protecting the one thing that joins them together?
I loved this book and I can’t wait to see what the author has in store for us next.

From Brick to Darkness is the first book that i have read by this Author. This Young Adult Fast paced book is a great read. I Really Enjoyed this read and it keep me wanting to read more. I loved reading about Bax and his friends. The story line was well written and the action in the book really keeps you sucked into this read. I can’t wait to read more books by this author. Thank you to this Author for a great read and look forward to reading more book by you in the Future.

I love a book with strong character and plot development and this book has both. Between the beautiful cover lays a Fantasy land with deep ties to Norse mythological lore. There is action, adventure, fantasy, romance, and my favorite, historical details. All aspects of a great story are the building blocks an author uses to catch the reader and this author did just that. This was a page turner. I stayed up reading the night through and finally turned in at 4am, but not only did I not stop thinking about the tale, I dreamt about it. Starting book two now and looking forward to another late night.

This is the second installation in this series. You must read these in order because with a lot of the details you get in book one you will be super confused. This is not a difficult story to fall into the pages of, but I can see where someone who hasn’t read book one would get lost instead of getting immense satisfaction and enjoyment. I absolutely enjoyed all the elements of this tale. It seems nowadays books are either plot driven or character driven only. Not this book! There is strong character development and a strong plot. There is plenty of depth, drama, action, adventure, twists and turns, ups and downs, fantasy, romance and even a surprise shape shifting. Definitely worth the 5 stars.

I really enjoyed this. It took me a couple of chapters to get into it but once I did it was great.
The 2 main characters are very different but they are thrown together and set off on a mission with dangers along the way and betrayal by people they least expect.
This is a terrific read; funny in places, sexy and an easy read.

This was the second book to the series. I absolutely loved the first one and this one did not disappoint. The way the author writes is really easy to follow, and the paranormal aspect is really intriguing. These kids getting into some interesting situations, with mischief, making new allies, and bumping into old enemies. It really kept you not knowing what to expect. The second book of the Crown of Stones series continues with Ian in prison, defeated and without any hope. However, there are others, people who need something from him and people who have ill intentions for him. Either way, Ian will not be in prison long.
I was stuck between being sad, angry, and brilliantly amazed about how Ian’s journey continued with this one.
It continues several years after the first book. Several characters – friends, and enemies – return for more character development and continuation of the story. I was not disappointed with this book. It grabbed my attention right away and I was thrilled to follow Ian and glad he was not lost after the ending of the last book. I really liked how deeply this delves into Ian and how focused it is on him. Just like any book, there are those I loved and hated. But each character had their own segment, their own reasons to continue. Some fought for freedom, while others fought to live or simply to get closure.
In this book, the world comes alive, leaving you enthralled and enriched with the storyline. Everything becomes so real, almost as if you could touch it. I loved how this developed and was so excited to read the third one. This book is so dark and daunting. It left your brain worn out from the intensity. But it was such a beautiful book. I definitely hope others liked this as much as I did.

Grave Digger Academy is a new series to me, and I’m loving it. It is easy to read, but holds my interest. It is written for young adult, but I enjoy it in my 30s. This book continues where book 1 left off, as Makayla and her friend return to Grave Digger Academy for their second year. I think you need to read book one to understand what is going on, its not a stand alone. But the books are quick enough, just read them both. The 2nd book had just as much excitement as the first book did. I wish there was more details revealed around the Academy Games, but it was enough to understand the gist and enjoy it. I wish there was more description of how the treasures were discovered at the other schools, and more story to the secondary characters. We really only see what Makayla is doing. I want more on Griffin too!! I want to know his backstory, and look forward to book 3.

After reading the first book of this series, I absolutely could NOT wait to dive into the second one and I wasn’t disappointed AT ALL!! This series has engulfed me from the very beginning. I do recommend reading the first book prior to this one as it picks up exactly where it left off. Makayla and fellow Grave Digger Academy students are returning for their second year and it jumps right into the storyline which is very well written and easy to follow. You are able to learn more about Makayla (the main character) as well as her fellow classmates. At this point, Makayla has accepted the fact that she will not be transferring from this academy and is embracing her new path with an eagerness to learn more about herself and why she has been chosen for this path. The plot develops around the Academy games, which includes all other paranormal schools coming together for some competitive fun. Of course, the plot thickens with some twists and surprises (sorry! No spoiler alerts on my behalf 😊) Continue this story to watch Makayla and her classmates grow in their magic as well as come together for each other. Now….off to get #3 and see if I can read it faster than I did #2!!!

Tam Paradiso is madly in love with Christopher Marlowe. Unfortunately, he has been sentenced to death. Tam would literally move time to be with and save Christopher. Seeing as how she’s in present time and he’s back in 1953, that’s just what she’ll do.
I would definitely recommend reading these in a better order than I did and to start with the first. I think you will get a much better appreciation for the characters and the story. That being said, I did fully enjoy this story. I thought it was interesting and kept the pages turning. I loved the combination of historical fiction and fantasy. The author weaved the two together so well. The combination of characters worked really well too. Each had their part to play and I liked how they all interacted with each other. I certainly fond this to be a well written and exciting book. I can’t wait to go back and add more to the series.

The story The Crown of Stones: Magic-Scars by C.L. Schneider is a fantasy book. This is the second book of The Crown of Stones trilogy. Ian Troy, the main character, has been captured by his old enemy, King Draken of Langor. He was kidnapped and the kidnapper did everything imaginable towards him, looses his magic by the drug he was given. But then he is rescued and as his body heals and rids itself of the drug he was given, he realizes that he has returned to an unfamiliar world gripped in fear. The ones he left he realizes they have been trying hard on their own. Ian is struggling to reconcile the man he has become, with the man he once was. He strives to understand the growing number of magic-scars adorning his body and he searches for the truth behind his link to the Crown of Stones. He soon uncovers secrets that have been buried for generations and finds to become the weapon the resistance needs, he must assume responsibility for his magical inheritance.
This is an amazing second book in The Crown of Stones series. The story is told from Ian Troy’s POV. As in the last book, through memories and flashbacks, Ian starts to remember what he did while he was held a prisoner and of his life before as well. He blames himself for things that he has done while in captivity. The feel of Ian’s character has changed a bit. This is due to his captivity and the drug that he was on constantly. Ian is such a likable character and I can say that some of the things that happen to him saddened me. He has many friends and acquaintances who help him and believe that any hope they have of freedom lies with him. This is truly a fast-paced, action-packed, magical journey through a world that is in fear and needs rescuing. There are battle scenes and adult situations that include hot, love scenes.

Nightfall in Deptford is the fourth book in the Crescent Moon Chronicles by L.E. Towne. Here I go again, diving into a series backwards. I was so caught up by the blurb and interesting cover, that I didn’t realise this was the fourth book in the series. Smh…. I soooo wish I had read the other books in this series before plunging into this one, as I suspect that knowing what happened previously would have elevated my reading experience of this book and taken it to a whole other level. Don’t get me wrong, this was a great read, and therein lies the problem…. I am seriously missing out by not having read the other books- but that is something I plan to remedy asap. I am more than intrigued by what might have happened in the previous three books, and will definitely be going back and reading them, as well as anything else Ms. Towne has produced. This is a fantastic historical urban fantasy with time travel, fae, magic, adventure, action, destiny, shifters, paranormal elements, the supernatural, dramatic developments, passion, life and death choices, high stakes, destiny, family, and a clever melding of fact and fiction. The story is skillfully woven, with wonderful world building, developing lots of threads and layers which all contribute to the depth and rich texture of the storyline that the author has cleverly crafted. I can see that the previous three books would have enriched my reading experience of this book as this continues a time travel story that began in book one. Although I was able to ‘catch up’ somewhat in this story, I still feel like I need to know what happened previously as I am sure all the books help to paint a much bigger picture.…. Circumstances have meant that Christopher Marlowe, famous 16th century playwright, and Tam Paradiso, a present-day homicide detective team up in a race against time, with challenges past and present, hard choices, threats, danger, and high stakes- all choreographed into quite a captivating story. I am looking forward to reading the previous book, as well as any future additions- can’t wait to see where things might lead. Happy Reading!

I will most likely go back and read the first three books of this series as I would like to get more background on the characters and their relationships. With that being said I did enjoy this book. Christopher Marlowe is about to meet his demise due to criminals and spies in the 1500s. The love of his life lives in present day Philadelphia and works as a detective. How is that possible you ask? Well, Tam is a time traveler who fixes snags in time. She is tasked with going back in time and fixing things that alter the future. She and her ex lover must go back and fix the timeline that coincides with Christopher’s demise as it has been altered. Will they be able to find who is behind the conspiracy? Will Tam be able to leave her beloved behind to die so things will happen as they should?
