As the last and final book in this trilogy I was quite sad to even start this book. I was excited to see that this book has Lucy all by herself and it just shows how much of a badass she is. With Marcus gone and her dad gone she has to rely on herself to protect her and her friends when the mean girl (I really hated her throuought all books) summons a evil spirit. It’s a very good conclusion to the series!!! Well done! I’m happy that I can go back and reread it multiple times!!!!

While Jude’s away, the demons will play. Lucifer’s taking a break on earth and Jude is left ruling the underworld in his place. Lucy has more challenges to deal with and her team is fighting an old evil that has returned with new tricks up his sleeve. There’s more drama, romance, a wedding, excitement, and of course, demon battles in this book. I’m only sad that we won’t get to see Lucy and Jude’s relationship grow more.

I have not been able to put this series down and I couldn’t wait to read this book. By now, things have come together for Lucy, she is learning a growing, and accepts and embraces all of the new relationships she has developed. But that does mean things are the same. Some of the people she loves and depends on are far away and she has to adapt to this. It is basically the same cast of characters, but we learn even more about some of them and where their hearts really lie. Instead of focusing more on Lucy, the story takes in everyone who can help or harm her.
This book builds us up to the final battle of someone who we know is coming. But it’s not just about that. As with the previous books, there are many surprises Along the way. It is written so well and is very interesting and pulls you in. I really would love to see more books in this world, possibly more about how Jude became who is is now.
In my opinion, it is best if you read the previous to books in the series before picking this one up. You will not regret it, this series is one that you won’t be able to stop reading and you will wish for more.

Ashes of Aldyr is the first book in the Obscured Throne Trilogy, and the first book I have read by Russell Archey. The best way to describe the feel of this book is past-post apocalyptic. Elves, humans, dwarves, and magic trees, what more could you ask for?! As a full time working single parent, I loved how there were many short stories that all connected. I felt this was a very good book for putting down and picking up again later. It is very dark and rather spooky, a perfect read for the season.

Ashes of Aldyr by Russell Archey took me for a ride! I love fantasies, but recently saw this one and knew I had to read! It was so descriptive and very well written! (I am a stickler for writing style and I flew through this book!)
This was a dark fantasy with twists and turns. I will say the beginning was a little confusing as it starts in medias res and doesn’t slow down, but once you get your brain on the right gear I swear only ten minutes had passed and I was done with the book! Must read!!

Ashes of Aldyr (The Obscured Throne Trilogy Book 1) by Russell Archey was just purely amazing. This was my first read by Russell Archey and I was definitely not disappointed. While I have not read Mr. Archery before the cover, blurb, and title all really grabbed my attention. So I picked it up and went off to discover a whole new world where characters are all perfectly written, and while this book has some dark undertones it was a perfect blend of dark and fantasy. This is the first installment of The Obscured Throne Trilogy series and I for one am very happy that it’s a series because I can’t wait to see what happens next.

All of the lovable cast mates are back in the third book of this fun series. Lucy is still working on awakening the witchy side of her genes, and Dylan’s demon is coming out in greater strength. Jude’s absence is affecting everyone, and although he tries to reach out to them, his communications are unclear and incomplete. Lucy is stressed about Marcus leaving to spend time with his protector kin, and unwittingly falls into a trap set by Seamus. I enjoyed hearing from all of these characters again, but I found this book really slow to get going. I was waiting for all of the action I expected from Girl and the Gargoyle, and it took awhile to arrive. Having said that, this book is as well written and developed as the others in this series, and if you enjoyed the others, you should definitely complete your experience with this book.

The land of Alda is broken, ever since an event known as The Rupture creatures of darkness have appeared and ravaged the land and its people, there was once a time where these creatures had been sealed away behind 55 seals created from different branches of magic and they held until a cult known as “The Black Gnarl” came along. Slowly this group have worked in shadows and secrecy to break these seals and bring forth the one known as the Obscure Throne into Alda, but they are still waiting to be released, however, they have sent their lesser creatures ahead to wreak havoc on the world in preparation for their arrival.
There are god and goddess like beings whom are both terrible and horrific in the way that their presence infiltrates and exerts their influence in the areas around them, bringing destruction, madness and all in between which leaves the land dying. The life giving and magical Aldyr trees are slowly dying and the elf-kind whose life is connected to them are dying as well, the dwarves are retreating from the lands they called home to the mountains where they hope to find solace and an escape. All the while, the humans are trying to survive in their newly made world and the dangers that come with it as they scrape together what little they can to live off.
This is a story woven from many threads which describe all aspects of The Rupture and the effects it has had on Alda as a whole and told through the eyes and tongues of the few survivors who have both mentally and physically survived long enough to share their experiences. The book leaves you both disturbed and needing to know more as you read through it to discover the who, what, where, when and why of The Rupture, The Obscure Throne and those whose lives revolve around it.

Twilight’s Curse is the first book in the Twilight Realm Trilogy by K.M. Wray. It is a YA fantasy story with elves and brownies, magic and dragons, fighting and action, pain and sorrow, hope and wonder. This was my first time reading a book from this author. The plot and characters are interesting, and there is a little bit of emotions that leak through. There is action and hate, love and lies, pain and sorrow and betrayal. I found I could not fully immerse and lose myself in the story. I needed something more. But please don’t let my thoughts deter you, I am a fussy paranormal fantasy reader. This is a great fantasy story that is full of adventure, magic and best of all elves which I really enjoyed reading. This is a well written story that has creative characters and even some romance. This is a newer author for me which I enjoyed being pulled into the story by her attention to details. Her creative characters brought life to the story and kept me turning pages to the end. They are full of magic and action. This is a story about Zoe and Nix. They are both elves which are in need of help from each other. She has magic that is broken and needs to fix it. He needs her to stop throwing daggers at him so she can join him in this fight for peace. What happens next I highly recommend reading this book to find out. It is a great young adult story that I would suggest to any young adult looking for a fun adventure. This is a great book to pick up and highly recommend doing so.

Twilights curse should most definitely be adapted for a TV show or movie (only if it does it justice). This book teaches a beautiful lesson on forgiveness, the power in vulnerability, and the beauty in trusting in your own abilities. I loved the details that were used to describe every second of the book. It made imagining the storyline very easy. This YA romance was very sweet and reminded me what it felt like to be a teenager in love. I can’t wait to read the next book!

Wow, this series just keeps getting better. Lucy is still struggling with her relationship with Marcus, but that is really the least of her worries. There is so much more action in this book and we meet even more characters to make everything that much more interesting. Lucy has doubts about almost everyone, but she still has a good heart and firm beliefs on what she should do. She really grows more in this book and she is what makes it so good. Of course, the secondary characters make it even better. Her “family” loves her and does what they can to help her. There are plenty of other great characters you won’t soon forget on both the good and evil sides.
Again, the story is fantastic in this book. I quickly picked this book up after book one and could not put it down. The author weaves such a captivating story. At the heart, it is good vs evil, but who is good and who is evil? You are asking yourself that the whole time.
If you are a fan of YA Paranormal Romance or Urban Fantasy, this book is for you. I do recommend reading book one first so you have a better understanding though.

This is the first book I have read from this author and while geared toward the middle to high school reader, I loved this book. I feel like the author has done a wonderful job of creating a story that not only is appealing to the young adult reader but to the adult reader as well. Especially if you love reading fantasy, folksy, myth and stories. She did a great job making me feel as though I was in this world around me. Her characters are amazing. I truly love the elves in this book. In fact, I wanted to be one. This book reminded me of several book series I love, and it took me on a ride to a realm I want to live in. I look forward to the continuation of this series and will certainly be checking out some of the other books by this author. Do yourself a favor and pick up this book to read.

The Girl and the Demon is the third book in The Gild and that Raven book by Pauline Gruber. I highly suggest reading books one and two because it will enhance the pleasure of this book. This is a YA paranormal/fantasy story. It is filled with witches, demons, gargoyles, magic, challenges, and good vs. evil. The storyline is engaging. I kept turning the pages to see what was coming next in the story. The characters kept my attention and mystified my senses. This story is about Lucy and her friends. Lucy has a lot to think about with her friends, boyfriend, and an evil demon coming after her. Will Lucy be able to keep everyone safe or will she meet her match? I highly recommend this book and all the books in the series. I can only hope that there is more to come.

I give The Girl and the Raven: a YA Paranormal Romance by Pauline Gruber, 4 stars.
This was a really interesting YA Paranormal Romance. It starts out pretty tragic for Lucy, but then she is given another chance to basically start all over. In this book, we really learn who she was and who she wants to be. She is such a strong person, especially for her age and while she struggles, she does what she has to for those she loves. We are introduced to so many other characters besides her that really help to make this book so much better.
Then there is the story itself. I will admit, this book seems to have some of the things that at one time we saw everywhere in this genre. To be honest, that made me question by choice of books. But I quickly realized that there was so much more to this book than that, and those things I worried about paled in comparison to the suspense and action in the story. Lucy is trying to come to terms with what she really is, trying to fit in at school, trying have a steady relationship, and all the while battling against an evil out there. There are plenty of surprises along the way too — things aren’t always what they seem.
I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys supernatural romance with plenty of action and strong main characters.

Nite Fire: Smoke and Mirrors is a fantasy book about Dahlia Nite, a half-dragon shapeshifter. Dahlia is now living among the humans, not really fitting in, however, she didn’t fit into her original world either. However, what she doesn’t realize is that these two worlds are about to collide. She works with the police department trying to engage in “normal” life, but to live this normal life also means she lives in lies and deception. One night, by the river, dismembered body parts were discovered and now Dahlia had to try and figure out this oddity. Luckily, the secrets that she holds helps her on this endeavor, however, she will have to explain and deceive her partner to get to the bottom (a partner who only knows enough about the world she came from, but not to the extent needed to keep everyone safe). This is my first book by this author and I thought CL Schneider provided a new outlook on the fantasy world. The story line was intriguing, however, there were a lot of characters I had to keep up with and what relation or world did they originate from. With that said, the characters she portrayed were different then in other fantasy books I have read, plus they were developed, complex, but also relatable.

I enjoyed this fantasy story. This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites. I enjoyed being pulled into the story from the start and kept engaged to the end. The characters gave life to the story and made it fun and easy to read. This is a story that took me on an adventure of romance and twists and turns like no other. A war is coming and Talise hopes that she has enough power to win. She is a strong, fierce character that believes in herself until she meets him. He has just as much skill as she does but she also has secrets that could change things. What happens next is up to you to read about. You don’t want to miss what happens with this strong character. I really enjoyed her and she is my favorite so far. I enjoyed the plot growth throughout the story and of the characters. This is a great story to pick up and I highly recommend it

Ashes of Aldyr is the first book in The Obscured Throne Trilogy by Russell Archey . Holy Cow what an epic dark Fantasy. I’ll admit what I just read was no where near what I expected to find when I started reading. It’s a grab you from the beginning and doesn’t let go till the end. It’s a fast paced story that takes you on quite the adventure and the characters are well developed and easy to keep up with. I could quite easily imagine how things looked and a couple times I literally got chills. This is a new to me author but he just got himself a new fan. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens. I can’t wait for the next book in this Trilogy.

The Ashes of Aldyr is probably one of the best dark fantasy stories that I’ve read in a bit. It’s usually not my genre but I had read such great review that I had to give it a try. I am so glad I did. Action, thrills and dark adventure. The evil kind of gives you such creeps that you want to crawl in a hole too. I found myself holding my breath waiting for the next thing to happen. I wanted to keep reading but life (eating, sleeping, etc.) got in the way. The author’s descriptions are so clear that I can almost visualize the characters and places in my head. A definite winner for me. This is a great book. Give it a shot! I don’t think you’ll be unhappy. Highly recommend.

Really good dark fantasy read! This was my first read from this author and I will be reading more from them. As you read this book you see that all aspects of the story come together. I really enjoyed the character building and the descriptions of all the different places. Not everything is as it seems in this story. Definitely looking forward to book 2 and can’t wait to see what’s in store!

What an intriguing ending to the trilogy of this series. I have enjoyed the story. This installment was just as good as the first two. Excitement, adventure, romance, intrigue drama, and a few other things tossed in will grab you right from the start. I couldn’t put it down. I had to know where Jude was and what was going to happen with our young lovers. So many questions would finally be answered. Great characters well done plot and just outstanding story. Book two was even better than the first!! I can’t wait to read book three!!! Lucy has had a rough life. Her gran passed away, then her mother passed away, she moved in with her uncles but keeps secrets from them, her father (Jude) is a demon and he’s forcing her to take combat training, her boyfriend (Marcus) is a gargoyle who’s natural enemies are demons, someone is trying to kill her father which in turn will kill her, and did I mention that she’s a half witch half demon?!?! Right!! Well, when Marcus’s long-lost family returns to town Lucy thinks she will lose him forever. She must team up with an unexpected group and fight once again. Will she? Will her father die and her with him? Will combat training get the best of her? Will she lose her boyfriend? Will a most dangerous demon kill her? You guys have got to read this set!! So much happens and it is SO good!!

I just finished this set and I have to tell you that I LOVED it!! I WISH there was going to be many many more!! Poor Lucy has had a very hard 15 years of life so far. All she wants is to fit in with some friends and to go live with her grandmother. Life never goes as planned though. With the sudden death of her mother her life is turned upside down. She has to move in with other family members, some strange guy bumps into her at the airport and slips her something, there is a boy that lives upstairs who seems to be watching her, her grandmother’s pet bird is missing, and she finds out some secrets about her family’s past. Can life get any stranger? It does when a dangerous stranger with a ancient grudge against her family attacks and Lucy is forced to choose a side and fight or die. Will she choose the right side? Will she die either way? Will she find out who all these random guys are that have now flooded her life? And will she finally fit in somewhere? If you love gripping fantasy stories and light vs dark magical battles you have got to read this series.

This book was interesting… I wasn’t quite sure what I was going to get into with it because I have never read anything by Russell Archey prior but I was intrigued by the cover, synopsis, and a few teasers so I decided with spooky season and whatnot to give it a go. This novel definitely has the dark undertones to set the mood and really builds the worlds beautifully. I will say the skill set there is strong for Mr. Archey. I did however struggle with the layout of the storytelling overall. I just had a difficulty with the way things flowed and couldn’t get into a groove that I wanted to find and look for often with my reading. I think that is something I often fear with fantasy type novels and this one unfortunately fell into that rut for me. However, the world building, the imagination and the time obviously spent in developing the characters and the background was ever prevalent and kept me reading until the end at the least. I would say I would be interested in seeing what book two holds and seeing if things flow a bit smoother for me in reading that one. I enjoyed the darkness that kept me on my toes and intrigued as well. Not bad for a new author to me and what seems to be a newer author in general so I will give it a solid three and a half stars.

Having read the first two books in the series I was excited to listen to the audio book of book 3 and I wasn’t disappointed! The narration was great and the story was amazing! The authors writing never fails to pull me in straight away. There were some great twists and turns in the story that constantly had me guessing about what was going to happen. I love Dahlia and Alex, they have such a great relationship, they really do work well together and I enjoy the banter that they have between them. They are very entertaining characters to listen/read about. There is just something about Dahlia that I can’t help but like, she is strong and independent and she really is just a likeable character. Although it was a long listen the tie just flew by because I was so engrossed in the story I was listening to. Another wonderful audio book by C L Schneider and one that I highly recommend!

The Last Dannon is BY FAR the best read of this series. The other two were good but this is the best! There is something so alluring about the hero with a tragic backstory. Kailen is also a badass which helps! But I can definitely see why Talaith is hesitant, which makes her even the more realistic. I have decidedly enjoyed the heroines of this author’s stories. On a side note, I would recommend reading the first two stories first as the mythology will make much more sense. Fantastic read!!

This book was quite interesting. At first the book seemed very dark and I wasn’t sure i would like it. However, it grabbed my attention and I needed to know how the story played out. I liked the format of the book. Instead of number chapters it was presented more like acts or parts of the story. Its very action packed
