Immediately drawn in by the cover, I read the synopsis and knew I needed to grab it! It is a pretty quick read but doesn’t compromise on the storyline or character development. I loved seeing the chemistry pop off the pages between Jorden and Cane and getting to know them a bit was really fun. There is plenty of steam within this story, but the plot doesn’t rely on only spiciness to keep it going. The mythical world feels incredibly real as if you’re right there experiencing it firsthand. I am on my way to pick up the next in the series. If you’re looking for a fun paranormal romance for your afternoon, look no further than this book!

This book has many interesting elements. It has ghosts, which the reader may surmise from the title. It has royalty. It has international intrigue. It has dragons! Also, it has illegitimate royal family members. All in all, a cleverly crafted tale that I very much enjoyed reading.
First, let me say that I love the detail in this cover. It’s superb, as is the story itself. Detailed world-building. Excellent character development. Creative story line. All woven together to create a story that sucks you in from page one.

This delightful tale Unrequited Love is the first book in the Magic and Heartache series. It is a well written short paranormal fantasy tale at only 96 pages, but it’s fun. It is a quick nice and easy read to enjoy with a nice glass of wine or cosying up under a blanket with a cup of ‘charmed’ hot chocolate. It may be a small town, but it is full of magic, mythological and magical creatures of all kinds that live in harmony with non-magical people. A place where love is love and no one bats an eye. But dealing with an ex does not brighten one’s day. Jorden and Cane made me laugh. The Top Off sounds just like a place I would like to see and be. I think I oohed and aahed, mmhmed and laughed my way through this charming and steamy tale. I read this in one sitting. I do wish it was longer so I could get more of these eclectic characters and their lives. I seriously enjoyed it and can’t wait for more.

This was a very cute short story but definitely not for young readers. This story follows Jordan who owns a coffee shop who is just getting over heart break after splitting up with her fiance, and Cane who comes into the coffee shop every day. They are not human and do magic. She finds an attraction to a long time customer who needs her help with a spell to find out someone’s future. It’s a cute romantic fantasy but definitely for 18+. There are some pretty graphic details when it comes to sex and some funny terms for lady parts. I enjoyed reading it.

Troy: A Crown of Stones Origin Story is the prequel to the The Crown of Stones trilogy. This is a full-length story focusing on the anti-hero Ian Troy. I was excited to grab this book because there was a lot of backstory to what had molded Ian into the man he was in the trilogy. Stepping back into the realms of Mirra’kelan the reader learns about their war for peace. Queen Aylagar, sends him on covert missions deep into enemy territory. All Ian wants is to prove his worth to his people. Will he come out of the trenches alive? The author brought me back into the world of Ian Troy. I enjoyed getting this new look into Ian Troy. I might have to go back and read the trilogy to see how any opinions I had before have changed. This can be read and enjoyed as an introduction to the Crown of Stones. I look forward to reading what this author releases next.

Oo i was happy when I say a new book from this author was out, I grabbed it right up. I’ve enjoyed this whole series and I enjoy this authors writing style and i know whenever I pick up one of their books I know I’m going to like it. This one is no different. Ruarnon is back and they are travelling towards the Kingdom in the West, which is controlled by King Nartzeer, a sorcerer king who wants to rule over all other lands including the Tarlah and Zaldean lands of which Ruarnon is the joint King and Regent. Now that they have brought these two countries together in peace and finished their journey to the East, they are relaying their discoveries to their council, and they are something which had they not seen with their own eyes even they would not have believed it.
The journey revealed the truth behind the myths of the Guardians and the magic which they wielded in order for them to use end the previous Sorcery War by removing all other magic and disappearing without a trace. The truth which was revealed is that the magic never left, people just stopped using it and instead fear grew in its place, however, they are now coming out of hiding because of King Nartzeer and his recruitment of them for his own aims. Meanwhile Linh and her Australian group are determined to find sorcerers who will help them to open the gateways back to their homeland.

As this dangerous journey commences and the paries split up to cover more ground, will Ruarnon, Linh and their allies find the answers they seek and be able to free the land from out from under King Nartzeer’s rule, or will they be captured and enslaved like their kinsman? What an amazing prequel. This is the prequel to The Crown of Stones trilogy. It’s an amazing story of magic and fantasy. It’s a well-written tale of one man’s navigation. I found the story was one that I couldn’t put down. I was hooked right from the start. These characters are ones that draw you in. They each have their own unique personalities. Somehow, they all meshed together as they had to go on their mission.The writing is excellent. This author weaves a wonderful tale of magic and fantasy that takes you on an exciting tale through a land of war, and trouble. This is a story that you should give a read to.

From the very first page, the book drew me in and I did not want to stop reading. There is a lot of action and competitiveness between characters. My favorite part is when a couple of the characters treat Troy differently than the norm based on his background and heritage. I love how the author always keeps the reader on their toes.

The final book in the Ruarnon Trilogy series was a great read, the last book that did not disappoint. It was full of action, magic, and all-out intrigue. This is a great series to read if you like a good fantasy series, that will have you guessing what is coming next throughout the whole series. The characters are well-rounded and have been developed with expert writing by the author. I love that we follow the character’s storylines throughout the series, as you create a close connection with them as you read the story. I recommend this series to anyone looking for a young adult, fantasy book, keeping in mind that it does have some content that may be for more mature audiences. This is such a bittersweet end for me because I have truly enjoyed every bit of this trilogy. I have gotten to enjoy one book per year and really soak it in. The amount of detail in each book is absolutely extraordinary and I feel like not a lot of authors pull it off well. Elise Carlson is definitely the exception to the rule. They have the ability to expertly craft a story with the most well-developed characters and plotline that I’ve come across yet. The trilogy will take you a bit to work through, but never once did it feel too heavy or pointlessly overloaded. I did find myself taking breaks every so often to really let the experience sink in before I continued onward. I adore the inclusivity throughout the trilogy with non-binary characters as well. It made my heart soar! I would not attempt to read this book without the first two because it is detrimental to the storyline and experience altogether. These are aimed for a younger crowd than I, but it still knocked me off my feet. I highly recommend this entire trilogy!

Wow! What an amazing story and writing. Though this is a prequel to an existing series, it is the first I’ve read in the series and first by the author and I was blown away. I picked this up on a whim as it isn’t the genre I typically go for, but I now plan to read the rest of the series.
The writing style is engaging and the author does a wonderful job with both setting and character development. The author provides details, but doesn’t distract from the story so it all flows very well. There is plenty of action mixed with the story and character development that it keeps the reader turning the page.
I very much enjoyed Troy, the titular character. Of course, the author focuses on providing backstory, telling us more about his people and where he came from, as well as follows his development through the journey of the book. I also really enjoyed meeting the other characters, especially those who are on mission with him.
The introduction of those characters as well as the context for the different lands and understanding of the war they are fighting really made for a well-rounded story. I highly recommend this one!

War in Sorcery’s Shadow is the third and final book of the Ruarnon Trilogy, and this was the first I read in the series. It CAN be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend reading the previous books beforehand as it does help with story development. This book is a LGBTQ+ YA fantasy with all of the aspects you would expect: magic, dragons, secrets, adventure, and drama. I REALLY liked that you are introduced to everyone’s pronouns and relationships in the opening of the book, so you can flip back to it as a reference if ever needed. My favorite part of this book, other than the really well written style, was the relationship between Linh and Ruarnon, who may not be as different as they think. The story itself is fast paced, and keeps you drawn in, making you root for the characters and how they develop and interact over time. While I do not typically read YA, I would recommend this to anyone that loves a magical realm with mysterious aspects. Also, unrelated to the content of the book, the artwork on the cover is eye catching and stunning! Overall, very well done book.

War in Sorcery’s Shadow is Book 3 in the Ruarnon Trilogy and this YA Fantasy is enjoyable. I recommend reading this series in order from the beginning to know the characters and the story continues building up to the end. Murder, intrigue, secrets, myths, action with LGBTQ+ I recommend this series.
Time is ticking…War is eminent….Linh and Ruarnon are trying to defeat evil before it is to late and trying to piece and figure out the lies versus the truth. When the truth is discovered, Linh and Ruarnon try to bring word to everyone before it is to late….but will Linh and Ruarnon be able to save the people or will the victory belong to Nartzeer….Definitely read and find out.

When I saw there was a new book in this series, I could not wait to start reading it. This whole series is one of my favourites and this book just adds to the excitement. I was drawn into the story immediately, swept away with the story with such ease. I loved getting a glimpse into this world before the start of the first book. The characters perfectly match the fantasy world that has been created and I loved how they each added to the overall story. This author has an incredible talent of creating gripping and fantastic stories and this is just one example. I loved this book from start to finish and I would highly recommend it.

This is the 3rd book in the Raurnon Trilogy. As this is part of a trilogy I do highly recommend reading them in order and from the beginning. This was was an amazing series fill of magical fantasy adventures, with a underlying story of good Vs evil. This is the final battle as Raurnon and his friends try to bring truth to the people who were lied to. It is another race against time to save the world from the mad man who wants to get rid of them all.
This story is is full of magic, murder, mystery as well as secrets and truths coming to light. The characters are really diverse and unique which is refreshing, however they need to join together and learn how to work together if they have any hope of defeating the evil against them.
This series was a real page turner which I loved and couldn’t put down. You won’t regret picking up this series if you want a story you can lose yourself in. Prepare to be transported to a magical world where good Vs evil and you are kept guessing who will win

Troy is the prequel to, and the origins story of The Crown of Stone Series by C.L Schneider. Having loved The Crown of Stones trilogy, there was never any doubt that I would be snapping up a copy of this to find out how it all started. Ian Troy is such a complex, dynamic, damaged, and somewhat enigmatic character (and more) in the trilogy- so this book was great as it allows us to be able to ‘go back’ and see what ‘shaped him’, the events that made him the man we met and followed through the series. We not only get his history, but that of the realms, and that of the magic/ magic lore as well- which builds on the what we already knew- filling in his history in a way that allows for a more ‘high-definition’ image and understanding. As expected from Ms. Schneider, this is another intricately woven, and action-packed high fantasy- with originality, magic, adventure, intensity, superb world building, dramatic developments, intrigue, suspense, tension, and challenges. I love how original Ms. Schneider’s stories are, and how she cleverly crafts her world/s in such a way that it is entirely realistic and believable- so richly painted with attention to detail- and this story is testament to that- brimming with all the elements that bring her stories to ‘life’ and set them apart from most- the characters, magic lore, adventure, culture, backstories, history, and so much more. “Ghost Talker: Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries Volume 1” by Byrd Nash is a delightful and engaging read that combines elements of fantasy, mystery, and romance. The story follows Elinor Chalamet, a talented medium with a penchant for solving mysteries and communicating with the dead in 1910 France.

Madame Chalamet is a ghost talker who assists the police with their investigations, helping to solve cases and move spirits to the other side. In this particular book, Madame Chalamet helps the Duke de Archambeau solve the murder of the king’s cousin. I could not tell where and when the setting was, but it was definitely a period-style piece. The characters were very well developed, but the duke confused me at times (I couldn’t tell what he really wanted in the story). It was very fast paced, easy to read, and comical at times. Overall, this was a great story, and I cannot wait to find out what Madame Chalamet goes through in the next story. I am on to Delicious Death now!

Troy: A Crown of Stones Origin Story by C.L Schneider follows the early life of Ian Troy. We get to dive deeper into his life as a slave to Aylagar in the Rellan army. This version of Ian is so different than the one we know but some similarities still exist. This Ian is hopefully, he has something to prove and he believes his loyalty and actions will win him favor. He longs to be accepted and form friendly bonds. My heart aches for this Ian. Learning where Kya (his horse) came from was interesting. If you haven’t already read A Crown of Stones, I’d recommend you start with this story although it’s not necessary to the series. But knowing what lies in store for Troy kind of placed a shadow over this one. I think reading this prequel first will give you a different view.
I enjoy C.L. Schneider’s work. I’ve read every single story that has come out. So if you like this series definitely check out her other series Nite Fire, and her zombie novel Necrosis.

5 stars Troy is where it all began for Ian Troy and is the prequel to The Crown of Stones Trilogy. This trilogy is one of my fav’s. I had to snatch this book up straight away when I saw it. I love a good high fantasy tale and CL does not fail to deliver. I love the darkness, the unique magic, the rawness and the grittiness of the world, time and setting of the story. It is a cleverly woven piece of work set 15 years before the trilogy starts from when Ian Troy was a young man and still learning who he is and what the world is about. What is a story without slavery, war, death, danger, battlefields, action, drama, and lots of suspense. Ian a young man treated so badly just because of what he represents. In slavery to a horrible Queen who sends him om a death mission. Will he be their salvation, or will he lose himself? If you love fantasy this is a must need read.

This is a series that I have enjoyed reading from the beginning. This is one of my favorites for sure. I enjoy this author’s writing skills and her attention to details that not only make the story pop but her characters as well. This book is no different. It is a well written story about Ian Troy and his magical honor to protect the kingdom. What will happen when he is sent to enemy territory? Will he prove once and for all that there is so much more to him than just his magic? I enjoyed this character and what he brought to the story. He is my favorite and had me turning pages fast to see what would happen to him next. I enjoyed watching the growth of the plot which made the story easy to read. This is a fast-paced, fantasy story that is hard to put down. This is one you don’t want to miss. I highly recommend this book as well as the other books in this series.
