This is the first book in The Archcrusade series. One thing I will say is that this is a very lengthy book to read and with some many points of view and characters that it could end up getting very confusing. However that being said I was able to take the time to read it at a steady pace and I even went back to re read parts and trust me it is well worth the time.
This is the type of story I love. I story filled with mystical beings, prophecies, the fight between good and evil, darkness and danger.
It is an epic fantasy read that if you allow yourself will fully immerse you and transport you to the time and place the author wants you in.
As much as I loved the story and the plot was unique with twists and turns that keep me hooked I feel I will need the re read it again before going onto the next book to remind myself of all the characters, their roles and how they fit together.

This is a very intricate story that is weaved together in a way that will truly captivate you if you allow it. I am looking forward to reading more from this author and to see where the story leads.

Mermaid Tails is a children’s book that children of any age will enjoy reading. The colorful illustrations help to bring the story to life. My son loved this book so much we’ve read it several times already and I’m sure we’ll be reading it a hundred more times. I loved that every page had some sort of educational fact about mermaids/sea creatures. I could tell by the attention to detail that this author poured her heart and soul into this book. We loved everything about it and highly recommend it to everyone of any age. We look forward to reading more from this Author

Mermaid Tails by Suzanna Lynn. This is such a good book for kids ages 3-12. The pictures are vibrant and the story is so cute. I have nephews and the younger one loved it. The book describes the wonderful world of mermaids and they can all be different. It describes their tails and how different each one can be. Kids can also learn a “fun fact” about the ocean and all of its wonderful things. This book would be a great gift for a family and even for a teacher for her classroom. Such a fun, educational read for kids and families.

Mermaid Tails is a unique book with wonderful illustrations. They are colorful and creative. My 8 year old read this book to me, and we both enjoyed it. It is weirdly written… with the story in large font, and the bottom of each page has fun facts about marine life that are illustrated on that page. This made the book somewhat awkward to read… but we did learn a lot from it. I really love that each mermaid is drawn to resemble the animal on that page.

This book is the absolutely perfect kind of story for my daughter. It is the exact type of book that she is now able to read and it was all about mermaids, which is one of her favourite things. She was instantly drawn into this story which meant I was as well. It was a joy to watch her read it and discover the story.
The book was really written and knew the ages it was aimed at perfectly. It was entertaining, engaging and such a fun story. I loved that we got to learn about other sea creatures throughout the book as well. This was a brilliant story that I enjoyed just as much as much children.

Stunning, creative read. This is the first book I have read by the incredible Suzanna Lynn, and I can tell you know she has a lifetime fan already in me. Mermaid Tails seems like a pretty straightforward book but it’s anything but. Filled from front to back with interesting facts about different ocean creatures followed by stunning creative Mermaid versions by the incredible Suzanna Smith. The beautiful illustrations gave me Thumbelina and Fern Gully feel, two of my all-time favorite movies since I was little. Wonderful book for all ages. I know I’ll be getting a physical copy asap for my shelf for future use.

Wondering about what mermaids would be like if you saw one. Cleverly written children’s story about Mermaids and pulling other sea creatures and how a mermaid may resemble some of their features. The illustrations are beautiful and highly creative. I think children will absolutely love this book.

With so many different points of view, it’s hard to really write a good synopsis. It seems that Basil is mostly the main character, since a prophecy of his arrival has been told. His mother was a slave, she begged the mage who was helping her deliver Basil, as a baby, to either kill him or take him away to have a good and safe life. The mage then took him under his wing as an apprentice. Along the way, Basil has to discover who he is and who he is meant to be.

This book was too long and dense in my opinion. With over 1300 pages and like 30 POV’s from very different and complex characters, I found it very difficult to keep track of everything going on. Everyone had their own sub plot and their own personality traits. The author put a lot of detail and effort into each character and their background stories, which is an amazing feat in itself, but also made it hard to immerse myself into the world.

I did enjoy all of the diversity that the author created. Mages, vampires, demons plus many more. The author did a wonderful job with world building and I was fond of that aspect. The book has a lot of potential. It was interesting but would be received better if there were less characters introduced during this debut novel to the series. I am hoping the next installment will be smaller in more ways than one.

This is a fun, colorful book with a different take on mermaids. Each page talks about a different kind or mermaid and how unique they are and with different tail designs. It is a beautifully illustrated book celebrating the uniqueness of each mermaid tail as well. In addition to a fun story coming through the pages, the author also included facts about the ocean and other sea animals, so there is also a fun educational element! I believe this would be enjoyed by parents and kids alike!

Wow! The illustrations in this book are fantastic! So colorful and vivid! When I read this story with my 7yo son, I can say neither one of us was expecting what it was actually about. I love how there are little fun facts to learn about different things throughout the entire story. I love how mermaids are reimagined in so many different ways. This is definitely a children’s book that I would not only read repeatedly, but would want a physical copy of. I’m sure I can safely say anyone, young or young at heart, would love the pictures.

This is an epic fantasy adventure with an exciting storyline and it’s a huge book with many pages. This is a very long read and not an overly easy one, mainly due to the high number of characters in the story all of whom have unusual names, making it hard to keep track of them all. The world building however is amazing and the fantasy world created by the author came vividly to life, which made me feel more immersed in the story. The main character and the one who I found it the easiest to feel engaged with is Basil, a sheltered healing mage’s apprentice. Basil sets out to march with the crusade called for by ‘The High King of Coserai’, to defend the holy land following a raid by bloodthirsty monsters at the first archangels birthplace. However, Basil has another reason for going, to accomplish his Low King’s agenda to find the oracle and gain insight into the realms fate.
Basil faces many dangers and threats on his journey, including from criminals and demons paid to kill crusade members. Along the way Basil begins to discover the truth about his divine destiny. Told from many different character POV’s I did find the narrative a bit difficult to understand at times. I also personally found there was an overload of information in each chapter which overwhelmed me rather. I must admit I did find myself flicking through some pages just to get to the end of the book. I found the book was just too long with too many characters and the multiple POV’s didn’t work for me. However, the storyline is intriguing, the characters are well defined and the setting comes to life, and as I am not an avid fantasy lover maybe I just ‘didn’t get it’! I did love Basil though and was left wondering what the author has in mind for him in the next book in this series.

This book is beautiful, the art work is seriously lovely. I will be honest, the best part was the fun fact on each page. It was fun to learn things about some of our sea creatures I didn’t know before. Having the mermaid on the following page look similar to the sea creature in question was such a fun idea, why do mermaids need tails like we know today? Why couldn’t they have tentacles like an octopus? That is so imaginative! The mermaid babies were the cutest, this is a wonderful book for children to imagine what if? and to learn about the fish and creatures that live in our oceans.

The Archcrusade: Tome One is the first book in the Archcrusade Series by this author K. M. Hogenson. This is the first time that I’ve had the pleasure of picking up work produced by this author.
The cover was intriguing and makes you really wanna read it just to see what lies within. Even more so after reading the synopsis of the book. I was glad to give in to my curiosity and read it. I was not disappointed 😀 it was a longer than normal read, taking about 3 days to finish with breaks of course. Although i really didn’t want to stop reading lol. It’s read from multiple POVs, which I enjoyed greatly. This high-fantasy was jam packed with magic, adventure, mythical characters, creatures, and action. With in depth detail characters and a well planned out world. I can’t wait to see what else the author has in store for us! I highly recommend reading this

The illustrations are beautiful, and it helped her to stay engaged. Each page has a Fun Fact to learn a tidbit on Marine life. Letting their imaginations grow, with mermaid tails. What types of mermaids there might be and what types of tails they might have. I definitely recommend this book to anyone with the love of mermaids and the ocean.

What a neat book. It’s very colorful. The information is in short bites. I found the rhyming to be fun and almost songlike. I read this with my grandchildren. They thought it was “supercool.” The different colored tails done to look like sea animals had them mesmerized. I found the fun fact on each page to be pretty cool. The book was set up perfect with 1 page fact and 1 page art. This will definitely be a keeper.

Mermaid Tails by Suzanna Lynn is such a wonderful children’s fantasy book (aimed at children aged 3 – 12 years old), with divine illustrations that really capture the imagination. Along with the lyrical style of the writing, it all results in pulling the reader into the magical world of mermaids.
This story is a little different, as it doesn’t just give us the ‘traditional’ mermaid/s we are used to seeing. Instead, it helps us imagine what different types of mermaids there might be, and what their tails might look like. The delightfully cute illustrations really do make the story come to life, capturing a plethora of different mermaid tails to inspire the imagination.
There is also an educational component to the story, with each page offering a ‘fun fact’ about marine life, the sea, and morsels of mermaid legends. This adds an extra element of interest and fun to the overall reading experience.
What a fun little adventure this turned out to be. It was so enchanting, engaging, and cute. My granddaughter loved reading this with me and pointing out all the different mermaids.
Looking forward to seeing what Suzanna Lynn does next.
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Suzanna Lynn!

If you are looking for a short, quick read, The Archcrusade is not for you. But, if you are in the mood for amazing characters and fantastic world building, K. M. Hogenson’s book is for you! This fantasy book is full of angels, demons, humans, and many forms of otherworldly creatures. Although the creatures do not exist in the world, the descriptive writing made it so I could see them in my mind while reading. The characters are so well-developed, each with their own story, but each inexplicably connected to one another. K. M. Hogenson beautifully weaves a tale of adventure, drama, danger, destiny, and magic. There are many character points-of-view so it did get confusing, at times, keeping all of the characters strait. But, I was so lost in the descriptive writing that I was not put off by the changes. Overall, an epic, well-written tale of adventure and fantasy. I would happily pick up another book by K. M. Hogenson.

The Archcrusade: Tome One (The Archcrusade Series) by K. M. Hogenson. This is by far the longest book I’ve read in a long time but surprisingly it was not difficult. It was engaging and entertaining and I couldn’t wait to start reading again each time I put it down. Its the story of Basil but you meet so many more characters and find out their stories. Its like multiple stories in one book. Its easy to keep up with and so fun. There is magic, action, adventure, paranormal, fantasy, werewolves, vampires, you name it, its in this book. I can’t possibly mention all the characters without missing something so just know there are multiple characters and their stories and they are so well written that you feel like you have been to this crazy world and you know all the characters. Basil along with other characters face danger, suffering, life threatening acts and all kinds of adventures. This book will keep you on your toes and I can’t wait to read this next one.
