Shadow's Fall (Shadowstalker Series Book 3)Shadow’s Fall by Natalie Johanson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I’ve had quite positive experiences with the series in jumping in out of number and we are able to follow the story with minimal knowledge from the previous. I struggled a bit to get certain parts of this novel so it is advisable to start from the beginning of the series so you can gain the experience of it. The book has magic, drama, romance, etc. Main character, Rose, is a quest not knowing who to trust along the way. She must travel south to kill Gerick, a powerful mage who has escaped from the King. Rose really comes into her own as she starts with many unknowns and becomes determined in obstacles that lie in front of her. Great characters and elements of magic!

Wild Lavender (Heart & Hand Series Book 1) by Nicole E. Kelleher – Review by La Toya Lewis

Wild Lavender (Heart & Hand, #1)Wild Lavender by Nicole E. Kelleher
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Wild Lavender by Nicole E. Kelleher is the first book in the Heart & Hand series. I absolutely love fantasy romance; especially if it is set in a medieval setting. This book is a wonderful addition to that genre. Wild Lavender follows Aubrianne and Larkin and the story is wonderfully written. The plot is strong and the world-building is detailed and vivid. I absolutely loved and sympathized with Anna. The author brought a good balance between plot and romance. I really look forward to reading more from this series.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have been enjoying reading some YA fantasy books recently and this was yet another good one. The author is able to really create such a unique world and bring the characters to life. I was really drawn into the world and felt as though I was just so eager to see how things would progress. I really like how the characters have such an amazing chemistry. There is so just the right amount of drama and adventure. The book really draws one in and keeps the attention as the story evolves. I like how the author brings two different kinds of magical people and puts them at odds with each other and is able to evolve the story and keep the reader’s imagination flowing. I look forward to reading more from this author and this series in the future.

Heart's Rescue (Fallen Hearts)Heart’s Rescue by Meredith Hart
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Lady Arryn has her whole life planned out for her. How she dresses, the way she talks, even who she will marry. Her beloved is no other than the Prince. When he goes missing after heading to the lands below, Arryn’s mother starts planning out her alternative marriage prospects. Arryn does not want to have to marry anyone other than her Prince. She takes it upon herself to try to find the Prince, instead she falls into a world she was not prepared for.

Rowan and his brother are the only sentry’s left in their small village. One day a monster gets in and kills 3 civilians and takes the arm of Rowans brother. Out for revenge, Rowan hunts down the monster and delivers him to the king. Another monster gets it but this time it is a Lady. She begs for mercy so Rowan takes her home to figure out what to do with her. This starts the adventure of Rowan escorting Lady Arryn home.

This book was a page turner that’s for sure! I loved it from beginning to end. I loved reading about Lady Arryn coming into her own. Being in a different land was freeing for her and it was refreshing to read her character growth. She’s stubborn and sassy but also classy. Rowan is used to living in his brother’s shadow. Rowan is considered a freak due to his unique magic. Arryn brought out the best in him and he slowly gained confidence. They both grew up being taught that the other kingdom is full of monsters. I was rooting for them from day one. The forbidden love. There were twists and turns, romance, adventure. A little bit of everything! I highly recommend checking out this series!

This is the third book in the Shadowstalker Series. The author does a wonderful job of describing the world and the characters are well written. The book has some darker moments, drama, magic, and so,e surprises! As a reader of many years, I always enjoy finding a new author or series that brings me the joy of connecting with the main characters, when it’s a series, we get to learn so much more of that world. This is a young adult series and I know I would have loved reading it back when I was a teen.

Tears Into Gold is a Teen & Young Adult Fairy Tale & Folklore adaptation aimed for those aged 8 to 18 years. But people of all ages will enjoy it too. I have read and enjoyed a lot of Cor’s books and was excited to see what this book was all about.
This whimsical tale is original and fun and entertaining. Cori has cleverly woven several fairy tales together to create a magical mishmash tale. It is a story where class and station matter. A tale of forbidden love.
The characters are beautifully written, and the storyline is intriguing. It is easy to imagine this world that Cori has created and brought to life.
This is a must read for those that like a story that is full of magic, dreams, fantasy, wishes, wants, hopes, a twist or two and much more. But it is a place where the old adage is ‘be careful what you wish for’ holds true.
I look forward to reading more books by this author.

The story of Rowan and Arryn was so captivating. Two people both trapped in their own ways in the world they live. Two people who don’t understand how much they need each other. I wish I had paid more attention and read the first two books in the Shadowstalker Series. With not having the whole story it did make the book harder to read but is doable. You just miss a lot. It is a YA fantasy story full of adventure. The characters are great and everything runs real well together pulling you into the story. I definitely recommend reading the first two and then this one but a great series.

Brittany Tucker’s “The Calamities of Camden Callahan” is an emotional read that takes you on a journey through a world full of pirates, mad scientists, and individuals with extraordinary powers. It’s a story that effortlessly blends the elements of fantasy and reality, with death and rebirth as recurring themes that keep you on the edge of your seat. Camden Callahan (Cam) and Annie quickly become real and relatable individuals.
You can’t help but get emotionally invested in their fates, rooting for them through every twist and turn of their adventure. Some scenes in the book are undeniably difficult to read because they paint a vivid picture of the cruelty that people are capable of. I thoroughly enjoyed Brittany Tucker’s latest work. I struggled a little in the beginning. I found the first chapter or two of this book hard to gel with what the author was describing and to visualise the story, but once things clicked I was hooked and needed to see what happened. It may have made more sense if I had read the first two in the series, although once past the start the book is fine as a stand alone.
We follow Rose (chief of the Shadwmaker Clan) and the magic wielders as the shadows return magic to the world. Not only is the struggle with the wielderes but also with the populace as a whole. She hunts for those from her past to help find peace in the present.
King Micah and the war in the South as Roses anchor has his own battles to wage that have little to do with the war.
The world building, both the physical realm and the shadow world are linked and described in depth, the characters all continue to grow and evolve as the world around them changes.
Avery well written book that I thoroughly enjoyed once I was further than the third chapter.
I am ready for more from this author. If you like in depth fantasy and journeys this is the book for you .
The Calamities of Camden Callahan (A Revenant Novel)The Calamities of Camden Callahan by Brittany Tucker
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Camden has been running from his true identity since he was a young boy. Before his mother dies, she entrusts him to a pirate to save him from a fate worse than death. However, death comes knocking in the form of a Revenant (a person who has died but comes back with elemental powers) attack on his boat. Even though he should have died, he finds himself awakened as none other than a Revenant with fire powers and his captain and friends missing. His search brings him into a partnership that needs him to claim his true identity. Can he find his captain and friends before his past catches up to him? Will he be able to turn an acquaintance into a partner before it’s too late?

This was my first time reading this author and I truly enjoyed reading this book. I loved getting to know Camden and his mates, as well as his newfound friends. This wasn’t at all what I was expecting as I got deeper into the book. I did like the justice that was served and the opening for more books in this series. The fact that there is room for character growth is what will bring me back to read the next book. I want to see the fallout continue for the people pulling the strings, per se. Overall, I felt that it was very well written and well thought out.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is book 1 of the Hearts Below series. I was captivated by this book from the first page. It is a paranormal romance which is my favourite anyway but the author’s amazing write created a world and characters that I loved. The two main characters of Rowan and Arryn are both so well written that they jump off the page.
This is a enemies to lovers story which is full of action, adventure and steamy romance.
When Arryn’s betrothed goes missing she takes it upon herself to find him. Little does she realise that he has landed in World Below.
After she falls there herself she finds herself in a dangerous world she doesn’t understand.
Rowan is a guard who has to take over patrolling Worlds Below after his brother was injured by a monster from the World Above.
When he comes across Arryan he knows she is a monster and should destroy her on sight however there is something different about her. As they work together to try and get Arryan back to the world above Rowan realises he doesn’t want to let her go.
What will happen when Arryan realises that the Prince she came to rescue is no longer the love she wants?
Can they relationship between Arryan and Rowan actually work with them being from different worlds?
What is the additional magic that Rowan possesses and how will that effect them?
This is a fast paced paranormal adventure filled with romance, danger, and magic. You will fall in love with the characters and find yourself cheering for their victory but will they be able to face all the dangers and challenges ahead of them?

I read Shadow’s Fall without reading the prior books in the series. While I don’t feel I really missed out on a lot of information, I am sure reading the others first would have made things a bit more smooth as far as the storyline and understanding how the characters were connected. Natalie Johanson does an amazing job weaving a descriptive, intriguing, and original story. I could see the world in which the story takes place and feel what the characters were feeling. The characters were so original, likeable, and believable. The added elements of magic, danger, romance, and darkness only enhanced the book’s entertainment. I was kept on the edge of my seat more than once waiting to see what would happen next. Told from the dual POV of the two main characters, this book is the first of the Fallen Hearts series. When Lady Arryn’s unofficial betrothed disappears to the Lands Below, she decides to go find and rescue her beloved despite the dangers of the other realm. Meanwhile, Rowan – a sentry in the Lands Below – struggles to protect his neighbors with his strange magic. The story starts off a little slow, but everything starts falling into perspective as the adventure takes off. This is my first time reading a book written by this author so I wasn’t sure what to expect when I picked up this book, but I’m glad I did!
