Shannon you’ve done it again! Chimera Rising is the third book in The Traveler series, and my personal favorite. I have been impatiently waiting for this book since i finished Chimera Revolution, and Shannon just keeps amazing me! I HIGHLY advise to read these in order, and I highly recommend reading them all! This book, along with the rest of it’s series, is such a beautiful series of ups and downs, and will absolutely hook you from page one. It has quickly become my favorite series, and i just cannot wait to get my hands on more from this author! Shannon knows just how to weave an absolutely spell binding (Pun intended!) work of art!

If you have not checked out Shannon Nemechek and her series The Book of Eleanor, you have been missing an awesome series. This is the third book in the series so i HIGHLY recommend reading the first two before reading this book. In this series there has been time travel, fantasy, magic, danger, mystery, and plenty of paranormal activity to just name a few things. The characters really compliment the plotline well. They are fully developed and complex. I have enjoyed Kate and Colm from the beginning book. They have been through a lot, but are they able to get into just a little more? I found myself turning the pages very quickly because I wanted to see what Kate and Colm is in store next. I did read the book in one sitting. Make sure you are comfortable, have all your snacks, and get ready for a roller coaster ride.

This is is 3rd book in The Book of Eleanor series. I would recommend reading the first 2 books before as this books follow on from the last one. The characters are well written and easy to connect with and the author does an amazing job of painting the scene for the reader.

This is a story about time travelling. Katie and Colm  have been asked to save someone but can saving that person change their futures? Can a spoke word change the course of history for the better or worse?

Filled with magic, mystery and adventure this story is one that keeps you wanting more.

I’ve loved this series and was anxious to read this next installment. And then I saw the blurb and saw that it included Merlin and Arthurian time frame and I was giddy. I loved how this story flowed and intertwined a beloved established character with Nemechek’s tome. Very well written and balanced. If you love medieval settings and time travel, you’ll love this book.

I have a special fondness for retellings of the King Arthur myth. The Traveler: Chimera Rising blends elements from the time of Merlin with different eras as Merlin’s granddaughter, Katie, travels through time with her husband, Colm. In this book, Katie and Colm must travel to Merlin’s time in order to thwart the wizard’s evil son, Mordred. My only regret is not reading this series in order. If possible, I would recommend starting with the first book, instead of reading this as a stand alone as I did. If you enjoy magic, time travel and adventure, then you’ll enjoy this book.

The Traveler: Chimera Rising is the third book in ‘The Book of Eleanor’ Series by Shannon Nemechek. It follows on where the previous book left off- so I really recommend reading the first two books, before starting on this one- to ensure you will be able to fully appreciate this story.
This is another enthralling time travel fantasy- with magic, danger, spies, mystery, history, drama, suspense, action, romance, and adventure.
I have enjoyed reading this series, and after the events of the previous book I was looking forward to continuing the adventure with this new release. I am happy to say that this is just as bit as good as the first two books, and is now my firm favourite of the three.
Katie and Colm were in for quite an adventure here. Secrets are revealed- while Colm’s loyalties are tested- which side IS he on. With danger at every turn and the fate of the book at stake, they are thrust into the fray, danger nipping at their heels- a true test their mettle, like never before.
As with the previous books- this is another fast-paced, action-packed adventure that’s full of intrigue, excitement, suspense, and dramatic developments.
I was also excited to see that there are quite a few more instalments planned for this series. Looking forward to seeing what Ms. Nemechek has in store for us.
Bring on Book #4!

Thank you, Shannon Nemechek!!

I enjoyed this shorter historical romance story. This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites by her yet. This is a story that pulled me in right from the beginning and held my attention to the end. This is one of my favorite genes and time in history. This author has created characters that brought the story to life and made it feel realistic. I had no problem connecting to the characters and picturing myself in their lives. This is a sweet romance fairytale story that kept me turning pages to the end. It is full of curses, magic and even some humor. I highly recommend picking up this book, you won’t regret it.

The Traveler: Chimera Rising by Shannon Nemechek is the third book in the Book of Eleanor series. This book picks up right from where the previous book ends meaning we are straight back into the story. It is a pretty fast paced book with plenty going on so it will be sure to keep you interested. Having read the previous books it really feels like you know the characters by this point. It feels like you are on the journey with them. The author has put in such detail that you can imagine it all so easily.
This book has got to be my favourite out of the series so far and is a great addition. I am looking forward to seeing what else might be next.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Great introduction of a new to me Author.
Coyote Summer is a book that gives us a very thought provoking point of view of a tragic event that is unfortunately an everyday occurence in today’s society. Ben witnesses the sexual assault of a high school girl and then struggles to come to terms with what he saw. I absolutely loved the fact that the Author brought us this story from a male perspective.
Ben is also in a strange relationship with a fascinating girl, with a completely different upbringing than him. This is a completely different coming of age story with excellent characters and amazing depth.
The only thing that was a miss for me was the supernatural aspect. But it doesn’t take away from the great story.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 Stars

Slash & Burn is the fourth book in the Nite Fire series by C. L. Schneider. It is a fantastic action-packed urban fantasy that kept me glued to the pages right from the get-go!
We meet up with Dahlia Nite, the dragon shifter and all-round kick-a**, while she is still coming to terms with the events and fallout from the previous book. A lot has happened since we met her back in book one, and she has been through so much. She has survived her ordeal and has been picking up the pieces of her life, while training hard and trying to get a handle on everything. She has returned to her vigilante ways in an effort to keep the streets safe. But the spreading blight, and sheer numbers of ‘monsters’ will test her like never before. Does she have any chance of stemming the flow? This is definitely worth the read to find out.
Highly recommended for fans of epic, or urban fantasy- who like plenty of action and adventure!
Can’t wait to get my hands on the fifth, and final, instalment in the series- ‘Exit Strategy’.
Superb!

Thank you, C.L. Schneider!

4 ½ Stars

Smoke & Mirrors is the third book in the Nite Fire Series by C. L Schneider. There is so much to love about this series- an urban fantasy with plenty of supernatural and paranormal elements, danger, shifters, action, adventure, mystery, suspense, drama, intrigue, fantastic characters, brilliant world building, and much more.
A lot has happened since we started the first book, so I really recommend reading the other two books first before starting on this one- as there is important backstory and character details to be discovered there, which will enhance your reading experience of this book.
This is a complex and multi-layered story, with so much going on, and as I have come to expect from Ms. Schneider, there is more to the story than first meets the eye. I was completely immersed in the story, devouring every word- and loving every exciting minute.
This is a fantastic third instalment, and a wonderful addition to the intriguing, unique, and very imaginative series. Ms. Schneider has proved, yet again, to be a quite the masterful storyteller and talented author.
I really recommend this book/series to anyone who loves a great paranormal story with supernatural elements, crime + investigation, action, and adventure.

Thank you, C.L. Schneider!

I still don’t know how I feel about Coyote Summer by Laura Koerber. It is the first I have read by her, and as much as I want to love it, I have mixed feelings. (Side note- This description is so much better than the one on AZON) The story was great, until about halfway through, then I don’t even know what happened. Literally- I still don’t quite understand what was real, exaggerated, dreamed, hallucinated, etc. The book is centered around Ben’s senior year and a series of events that changed his life. Claire’s assault stuck with Ben forever, and changed who is was as a person. It made him question his life, his friends, his morals, everything. And I love that- We saw how Ben changed his way of thinking, struggled with his feelings, and matured into a young adult. However, everything surrounding Puppy and her family, I’m still iffy on. I feel like the author had 2 story ideas, and mashed them together- and I don’t think it worked well. At least for me. I really want to love it… the writing in the first half, I loved. It is written primarily inside Ben’s head and his feelings. I felt his internal struggle to figure out right from wrong. To break away from friends he has had his whole life. To question his family’s way of life, and what being part of it means. But, seeing other reviews, it seems it is a love or hate for most. So, Read the book, and decide for yourself. I hope to read another book by this author and see if I love it more.

This is the first book that I have read from this author and she now has a new fan. This book is a coming of age book of a young man getting ready to go to college. I absolutely love paranormal books but this author exceeded all my expectations. I was hooked on this story in the first chapter. I could not put it down until I finished the whole book. I can’t wait to see what this author will write next.

This story takes place in the 80s which is when I was born. Ben O’Rourke has been working his butt off to get into the school of his dreams. He is so excited that he is going to be going to Yale which is one of the best. Ben goes to a party that changes his life. He finds out that his friends were never really friends at all. Ben meets a girl that he can’t stop thinking about, Puppy. He sees that she is not the same like most girls but he doesn’t care. Ben is head over heels with this girl but when he finds out her little secret will Ben believe in her or will he run?

Nite Fire: Slash & Burn is the fourth book in the Nite Fire series by C. L. Schneider, whose other books include the Crown of Stones series. It is an exciting paranormal story with elements of urban fantasy (and also dragons – can’t beat a good dragon story!)
By now, Dahlia Nite is an established heroine, and has been through more than her fair share of scrapes. She continues to be tenacious and resourceful, if often impatient. Her previous adventure has given her new powers which could be incredibly powerful, if she learns how to use them.
This is a fast-paced, action-filled book. There’s a lot going on, and plenty of clues to put together as the story progresses. It’s definitely a page-turner!
This book doesn’t really work as a standalone. It’s definitely worth reading the previous three books that introduce the characters and set the stage for what happens!
For me, this is a five-star read. Another great book in the series! I’d recommend the series to fans of urban fantasy who like plenty of action!

This is a fantasy novel and comes in around 230 pages. This does touch a bit on rape, so reader beware as this could be a trigger for some. This story follows Ben, Clint, and Claire as they grow up together. They were all supposed to grow up and become something. But one fateful night proves to change their lives forever. I felt this was a great coming of age story and the choices younger ones must make and the possible impacts of their future.

Coyote Summer by Laura Koerber – Review by Angela Shirley

Coyote SummerCoyote Summer by Laura Koerber
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

When an event in your life imbeds itself in your head, will there ever be a time you can forgive yourself.

Ben is a preppy kid who is a bit shy and vulnerable but he wants to fit with the popular kids and strives to be accepted. Although he is friends with Clint, Ben’s parents are trying to keep up with Joneses and loves that their son is friends with the congressman’s son, but this friendship will be put to the test one night.

As they attend a party, everyone is getting drunk and stoned but as the night goes on Ben sees Claire, a girl who he has a drunk conversation with and when she excuses herself after a while he decides to go to the bathroom where he stumbles upon a scene which makes him sick. He sees Claire totally out of it and Clint assaulting without her knowledge or consent. As Ben wrestles with the scene in front of him he tries to step in and stop the heinous crime that has happened. After that night Ben can not get the scene out of his head and always wonder if he could have done more to help.

Roll forward and Ben and Clint are still friends but the past has come to haunt both of them, can Ben stand up for himself or will the past eat him up forever?

I have to start off that this is not normally a genre I read and was wondering if I would be able to read the book due to the contents, but I am glad in a way that I persisted and got through it. I have two say that I feel this book is of two halves, the first half through the trials of the assault and the heartbreak around that, with the soul searching from Ben knowing that he needs to disconnect from Clint with his toxic nature. The second half of the book was a bit out there and although the feeling of the book did not change, I felt this was a strange turn of events within the story.

Aside from this I really enjoyed the book and although some people may be put off by the content of rape it was written with care and my heart went out for Claire. Although I had a hard time relating to Ben and his turmoil, I did understand the elements which got him to that point and that the soul searching in the end helped him become who he wanted to be. Although this is not normal for me I did enjoy the story and would read other books by this author.
