C.A. King’s fantastical imagination strikes again in this Novella. Curse Of The Forbidden Island is a wonderful and intriguing paranormal read that takes you on a fast paced mystery. I thought Selene was a very entertaining protagonist and I absolutely loved the idea of the masks. I really hope this novella is an introduction of a whole new series because 52 pages only whet my appetite for more. I definitely recommend this book and any C.A. King books in general if you like gripping, unpredictable, paranormal stories with great characters and amazing plots.

This was a really quick read and it was definitely steamy. I am giving this book 5 stars because it has great characters and builds an amazing setting. I found that was able to sit down and just read the book without having to stop or pause because of something in the book. I did however, feel that the book was a bit rushed or I felt it was lacking more. Maybe the best way to put it is, that I wish it was longer so it could expand on everything in the book. So lacking isn’t really the word just I needed more. It does have everything it needs to feel complete. I was still really happy with the book. Don’t let my need for more be what sways you from reading it. It is really good and you will feel yourself swoon when you need to and even blush. If you are looking for a quick escape this would be a great book for that. I can’t wait to read more from this author.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

T. K. Lawyer is a first-time author for me, so I was excited to read something new and unique! I really enjoyed the fact there were 6 very different short shifter stories; it wasn’t just normal shifter stories. I had never really read a book like this one and it was kind of refreshing to be introduced to a different kind of book. There are stories about a big cat, a gargoyle, a Hellhound, a dragon/vampire hybrid, a wolf, and a great white shifter. Every story was very different but at the same time kind of similar. The characters needed a little bit more developing, but that could just be because they were all pretty short stories. The world building was pretty well thought out, even with the shortened length. I was taken into many different worlds with the stories, you were transported into forests, cities, the ocean, and even the underworld itself all through the creativity of T. K. Lawyer. Some of these stories I would love to see as full-length stories and some of these stories were better left as the short stories. Overall, a quick, interesting read by an author I wouldn’t mind reading more stories from.

Selene is down on her luck and finds herself homeless and jobless. She feels as though she has found the perfect job, but it may be too good to be true. Not only does it offer her a place to stay and pay, but it is also located on a tropical island. Could things get any better? There is one rule: masks must be worn at night. Will Selene adhear to these rules or will she end up fired once again? This book was a bit different from the other books I have read by this author. It did however keep me turning the pages and like many others I felt it ended too soon.

Curse of the Forbidden Island is a Supernatural Fantasy that once you start reading there’s no stopping until you finish. It’s a short story that I only wish was a bit longer only because I wanted more. This author out does themselves every time with the covers. I could stare at them for hours, they are so wonderfully done. Selena has had not so good luck at keeping jobs of lately and ends up losing her latest job and in serious situation where she needed a job like yesterday or she’s gonna lose her place to live. She takes a job on an island and there are certain rules everyone must follow. It’s said there’s a curse on this island and she’s not so sure there is. People are not the same in the daylight as they are in the dark of night. What happens next you’ll have to read this book to find out. I can’t wait to read more from this Author.

I have read several books by this author, and this is one of my favorites! Although all of their books are different, they are all simply amazing! I was hooked by this book from the very first chapter, and it was over far too soon. Selene is our main character who has gambled her way to the bottom. When she finds a job that seems too good to be true, does she find out it is? I won’t give anything away, but this book should absolutely be your next read. It’s quick enough to fit in at lunchtime and you’ll be hooked just as fast as I was! I would love to see this author expand on this book or even create a series from it. I highly recommend picking this up and any other you see from C.A. King!

Short and Steamy! I blew through this book so fast. It’s a quick read that starts off a little slow but when it picks up it flies by. This story left me wishing there was more! It was equally steamy and interesting!

While I do wish that there was more character development of the other island owners I understand that it’s a short story. However I will be reading more from this author.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I am never disappointed with a book written by C.A. King, and this is no exception. Wonderfully crafted paranormal romance, that is perfectly unique! This book is a short novella (52 pages) about a young woman down on her luck, named Selene. There is definitely potential to either continue the story or write a more in-depth view of the book. The story is full of steam (reverse harem) and is shrouded in mystery.

Selene is the definition of weird. She can’t hold down a job, and constantly is having complaints about her. After being fired from her job, she stumbles upon a new job adventure on the Forbidden Island. It almost seems too good to be true – the job is perfect for her, she is provided housing and free meals, and also gets the amenities of a wonderful island resort. The only people who live on the island are the 6 owners, and the guests. Selene doesn’t quite understand a few things about the island, especially the rule about wearing a mask if you go out at night. What is this horrible curse?
Will she be able to keep this job, or will she be fired from here too?

I would recommend to anyone wanting a quick steamy read that is also paranormal. Also, I would VERY much be excited if C.A. King made this a full-length novel! So many possibilities!

Curse of the Forbidden Island by C.A. King is a delightful supernatural novella. After losing, yet another job, losing her home and having no where else to go it seems like Selene’s luck starts to change when she is offered an all inclusive position at a mysterious island resort. It seems to goo to be true, however upon arrival Selene determines that it is not all sunshine and cocktails, there is something deeply unusual about the Island and Selene is determined to find out what. I really liked the supernatural element of this book, I just wish it was longer as I wanted to know more of the details behind the curse and get to know all the characters better as each interaction was very brief (and there wasn’t much time for dialogue!). Would recommend to reverse harem fans looking for a quick read.

This is another great short paranormal romance by C A King. Every book I have read by this author has been captivating and this one is no different. This is a paranormal romance with a reverse hareem theme. Even though it is a short read the author manages to pack so much in and the story feels complete and not like it is missing anything. I am always amazed at how the author creates these wonderful stories as each on is unique.

In this story we meet Selene. She is down on her luck after losing her job and her home so when she gets the opportunity to go to a deserted island to work which provides good pay and accomodation she jumps at the chance.
However things arent what they seem, with 6 owners who are mysterious, mysterious men that appear at night and the rule of everyone wearing masks in the evening all adds up to Selene’s curiosity getting the better of her and her wanting answers.
But will her answers cost her the job of her dreams? Or will it open her eyes up to a world of possibilities she never knew existed?

Ended too soon, I need more. I absolutely love C.A. King’s work. Having read several of her books so far, I always find my way back to her.
Selene is a rock bottom gambling addict that goes way to hard on everything she does. Going above and beyond every job she gets but seems to keep finding herself hearing “Your Fired” too soon. A last-ditch prayer if you will she feels she’s finally found her dream job. A place to live? Check. Gets paid? Check. Tropical island? Check. She takes the chance but quickly questions why anyone would want to leave the island before dark. Questions why the mask rule at night and curious about what the truth is behind the “Curse” of the island.
Will breaking the rules be in her favor this time? Can she keep a job past the first week? What is the curse? Everything about this book drew me in and kept me glued to the pages. It was the edge of your seat mystery and some steam that kept you wanting to see what would happen next. Has you asking questions about what the truth is. Just when you finally get some answers and understanding it’s over. Honestly amazing but too short. Praying the amazing, talented author uses this as an intro to a new little series because honestly, I need more of Selene and the Six owners of Forbidden Island. Also, the history of the island was amazingly interesting, the depth of the details and how everything fits together perfectly. Chef’s kiss.
Curiosity killed the cat. Satisfaction brought him back.

Kingdom of 7 Sovereigns: Wolf is the first book in the series and I really enjoyed it! I hadn’t read anything by this author before so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Multiple POVs from a very diverse cast- ranging from dragons to werewolves to humans.
This story focuses on a newly built school for the kingdom that also houses the young royals. When they’re recently thrown together, of course there’s some chaos involved. Add in a witch with an unknown ulterior motive, spells, fated mates and scorned love with some teenage hormones and you get a very intriguing read! I had a hard time putting it down and honestly can’t wait for the next one !

This story was pretty fast paced. I liked the element of a mystery that developed and gave answers fairly fast. Kingdom of 7 Sovereigns: Wolf by R. C. Reigh – Review by Roxsanne Lesieur.

Kingdom of 7 Sovereigns: WolfKingdom of 7 Sovereigns: Wolf by R.C. Reigh
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Bastion is a school where young humans, shifters and fae of the royal families of the seven sovereigns will come to study, hone their skills and blossom into the rulers they are being trained to be and it is one of the safest places they can be. Each sovereign state has their own tower where the youths live and each one has two emissaries to help them.

Amelia of Avonlee is one of these youths, a girl with a future planned out for her, but she is rebellious and especially with one certain part, an arranged marriage between herself and the Prince Dane of Carpathia, she is adamant that she doesn’t want this and is determined to break it. Prince Dane has always wondered what his betrothed looks like but is of the opinion that she will just be another weak human, but that all changes when he meets her for the first time and the idea of breaking the betrothal soon becomes impossible.

Meanwhile, the other students have their own worries and dreams, so between studying, training and the tournaments and competitions between the kingdoms beckon, the rivalries come out to play in full force. The main one is between the two shifter clans, they each feel superior to the other and will do anything to prove it, so during the tournaments, some true colours shine through and they are not all positive ones.

One elusive fae from a kingdom nobody wants to garner the attention of is Kessara, the daughter of the Necromancer, a beautiful girl with plenty of tricks up her sleeve and chaos to create, but she is always willing to help others, but for a price of course. This is how Prince Dane comes to her, desperate for help with Amelia and turning her opinion of him and their betrothal round, however her price is a steep one for such a request.

As the months progress, the Bastion becomes a haven of lies, alliances, betrayal and treason as treaties are broken, maintained and stretched to their limits, especially when danger calls and reality hits, but will this lead the students down the correct path, or will fate intervene? This is a fantasy book filled with magic, action and a sprinkle of mayhem which will keep you on your toes and hooked until the end.

Romance, fated mates, hot as hell shifters, what more could you want from a collection of short stories?

In the first story, Elorah is a young woman who is always running away from Rowan, she knows that she wants him and that he wants her, but what she can’t understand is why, especially when they keep playing cat and mouse, but who will win in the end?

The second story is one where a woman called Terra goes to sit in a coffee shop opposite a building with some fascinating statues, but the more she looks, the more she sees, but is this really happening, or is she imagining it, that is the main question?

The next story is heavier, but just as good where Lorena wakes up in a room in Hell, but she is not alone, there is a Hellhound in there with her and not just any Hellhound, an alpha who claims her, but can she really believe she is the one for him?

Draco is more than meets the eye in story three, he is a mix of two shifter species and is a one of a kind, but only one person Esma, accepts him for what he is, well mostly at least, but will she take a leap of faith and take their friendship further?

Jax is a wolf shifter, and he has his eyes set on Ivy, his Harlot, but when danger calls and a decision to be made, will it be a happy ending?

The final story is about Walker and his scuba diving love, but will a mutual love of the water be able to keep her next to him, or will his wild nature scare her away?

This is a collection of stories filled with passion, danger and seduction where fated mates are found, and romance is kindling in the pages of this paranormal romance.

Curse of the Forbidden Island by C.A King is another fantastic, cleverly crafted, and highly original paranormal treat. And another great read from Ms. King’s seemingly limitless imagination!
Selene has been on a bit of an unlucky streak of late, jobless and homeless she is desperate to find something that will get her back on her feet. Then the perfect position appears that includes somewhere to live- and it’s located on a tropical island. A winning combination for sure. But stepping onto the island starts off a bit of a mysterious and steamy adventure—- and certainly grabbed her attention… Well worth the read to uncover the mystery and discover all the spicy details for yourself….
This is a paranormal reverse-harem romance with mystery, secrets, steam, intrigue, drama, a touch of danger, tension, and engrossing developments. I am always excited when I see that Ms. King has released another book, as I always know that I am going to love every word- and this was no exception. From the moment I laid eyed on the beautiful and intriguing cover, I was hooked. The story was fun, mysterious, steamy, and captivating. The only issue I had was that I wish it was longer- as I would have loved to sink my teeth into a full-length novel, because this is a very short novella (52pgs), and although the story was ‘complete’, I really wanted to know more- and stay immersed in Ms. King’s world longer. I am hoping that this is the first book/introduction to a new series- so fingers crossed.
This is a wonderfully crafted and intriguing tale that kept me entertained the whole way through.
Happy Reading…

Thank you, C.A King!

Curse of the Forbidden Island is a short, steamy novella. Selene lands a new job at a remote tropical resort. She has no idea what she has gotten into with her new employers. The story is rapidly paced and left me wanting a lot more to the story. I won’t give details away because I think they are best discovered while reading the story yourself. If you enjoy paranormal, romance, reverse harem, and more, this might be a great read to grab. I read the story in one sitting and wanted to know more about Selene, her employers, and the island. The story was developed but I would have read a much longer detailed version to get my fix. I always enjoy books by this author and I wasn’t disappointed. I hope she dives further into this storyline and maybe makes it a series of stories or develops a longer version of this book. I recommend grabbing this when you need a quick getaway. C.A’s books are so diverse and that is what I enjoy about her writing. You never know what you will get. I can tell you one thing though; they are always good reading. There is not one book that I have not loved.

Curse of the Forbidden the Island is a sexy, paranormal romance with a twist.

This reverse harem tale is hot, sizzling and very steamy. It is short with only 52 pages, but it still packs a punch. Yes, I wish that her stories were longer. It is fun and will have you laughing at times at the madness being uncovered.

She always loved a good mystery. She found more than she was bargaining for when she decided to learn the secrets of the island.

What happens on the island stays on the island, right? But what really goes on there is something you will find out when you read this book.

The Kingdom of 7 Sovereigns was a good introduction to the series. I enjoyed that the point of view changed to get the full story. Amelia is a princess that wants to have her freedom. Instead she is being forced into an arranged marriage with a wolf prince (Dane), it is the last thing she wants. Her cousin Cora is her protector and a master on the battlefield. Prince Dane is a strong fighter and protector of his pack. He will stop at nothing to protect his kingdom and promote peace. And don’t forget the dragons and the necromancers daughter ready to stir up trouble. They are all attending the same academy with the other nobles of the 7 kingdoms. The chapters are short and easy to read. I’m interested in reading the next book in the series due to the ending.

Selene can’t hold down a job. Everyone thinks she hovers, stares, and smells weird. The day she loses her last job, she also learns that she is being evicted. She goes to see her only friend to see if she can help. A job posting is found and it’s quite intriguing. The job is on an island where masks must be worn at night. Only the guests and the owners stay on site on the island, but Selene finds herself staying at the hotel too since she has no other means for housing.

Things sure do change at night! Nothing is as it seems during the day and Selene learns a lot when she removes a mask.

This was an interesting read. I enjoyed it for the most part. I do feel like the story could have been longer to explain a few more things in detail but I also appreciate that it was a shorter read (52 pages). I’m curious if this will be a story developed more further in a future series.

This collection of short stories definitely caught me off guard as the blurbs are rather short and the cover is unassuming. As I hadn’t read any of their work before, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I definitely enjoyed reading through these. I did take note of the content warning and really appreciate the author for providing that heads up. These are all paranormal romance stories that are short enough to fit one in at lunchtime. The only real complaint I had about this read was that I wanted more from each story! Haven was particularly enjoyable as it was a different kind of shifter that I hadn’t encountered before. I recommend picking this collection up and giving it a chance as you will find at least one that you enjoy!
