This is a friends turned in something more story, and the third book in the Platonically Complicated series. In this book, Kate’s and Lucas’ chemistry is fantastic. I also loved the humor that Mika Jolie was able to put into this story. I feel that this story was well done! The characters were awesome and the story grabbed my interest at the very beginning.

Surviving Grace Surviving Series Book 5 By Virginia Wine
Four Stars A nice short story about starting over. Grace has been through so much and it still haunts her. She has her life line but he is currently unavailable. I hate when people make decisions for you. Thinking they know best and that they’re doing what is right for you. Good intentions are sometimes served with the worse consequences. This story was very smooth and sad. I really enjoy this author’s works.

Hot vampire hybrids fighting vampires and protecting the humans. Well mostly hybrids. Jon is the main male character of this novel and he is full out vampire but different. Lawan is the main female character and is a kick but hybrid. Both characters were amazing! The storyline of this novel is fast paced and full of action. I could not put this book down and it is a great addition to the series. The author always does an amazing job setting up the world in which the characters exist. I think it would be terrifying to live in that world but I love reading about it.

I have read books by this author so was familiar with her writing style. I read the book based on her name alone and had no idea what it was about.
Funny funny stuff yet emotionally charged as well. The observations of life are spot on and the characters are a perfect fit for the story (if you don’t have a BFF like Diane, I beg you to find a friend like her). The story is told validating and breaking down stereo types and was entertaining and interesting.
This book was a quick and easy read and I read it cover to cover in one sitting.
I absolutely recommend this to younger cousins and book clubs alike.

Surviving Grace by Virginia Wine was an exciting and refreshing read. I was happy that I was able to dive into this world once again. I love that this author has such a great skill with creating characters that just hook you right in and refuse to let you go. As for the world development, I love every part of it. One of the things that I love about this particular series, is the fact that the previous characters are always present. It’s always a good thing to see what has happened with them and to them, even after their story has ended. I loved everything about this book, and can honestly say that it was a 4 Star book for me!

5 Star Surviving Grace: Book 5 (Surviving Series ) by Virginia Wine is the fifth book in the Surviving Series and a series I will definitely be rereading later on. I was instantly hooked from the beginning and I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. I was dying to know what happens next. I’ve truly enjoyed this series and recommend if you haven’t read the first four books to go read them as well. This story had me not only turning the pages fast but I also felt like I was on a emotional rollercoaster ride at times. I love how the characters are very well developed. The detail this author uses is amazing. Grace has a dark past that leaves her feeling broken at times but she’s pretty strong and doesn’t let that get her down. Find out what is in store for her future. What a great ending to this series. I can’t recommend not only this entire series, but this author, enough. She’s quickly climbed to the top of my list. Can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next.

Wish I Had a Nickel: A Sweet Romance by J.D. Boudreaux is the second book in The Sand Dollar series. What happens when you are separated by distance after being born 2 days apart. Alex and Leigh are the closest of friends until one moves away. After thirty years the two are reunited. Will they find their happily ever after. Like the first book in the series (which I recommend reading first) these are sweet people that you are rooting for in the story. I liked this book even though I felt that it got a bit sappy at times. This isn’t a bad thing and a nice relief from the heavy drama, petty, and conniving characters that are so often seen in books. The characters are well written and there is so much attention to the details of the characters and the story. The writing gives a nice, easy flow to the story that has me losing track of time and not wanting to put the story down. I look forward to more of this in the future.

Rules of Engagement by Mika Jolie was the perfect mix of a single dad, friends to lovers, best friend’s sister fake relationship romance. Boy, that a lot of troupes in one book but I have been looking forward to this story since I read The Boy Friend.
Lucas and Kate have been friends for decades but when Lucas’s ex is trying to take his daughter to France full time; Kate decides to play his fiancée to try and keep his daughter. We all know this plan will backfire on them but it was sexy hot reading about them trying to just keep thing as friends.
It was great to see a little Dean and Cori mixed in this book. Now we just need to find Cam a girl – can’t wait for that book.

An Improper Encounter (The Macalisters #3) by Erica Taylor was an engaging, steamy read, that had me hooked from start to finish.
Not my first read by this author or in this series, needless to say but I’m a little hooked on this series. I’ve always been visitor to historical fiction but never stay longer than a few books here and there. This book opens in a bar setting, already telling you this isn’t going to be your normal historical fiction. This series, has sparked a new reading fire, and I’m liking it.
Fast pace and steamy, we’re tossed into the love affair right out of the gate, and it moves fast, fun and a little hot. I love the straightforwardness of Sarah, she’s isn’t just a proper lady. She’s got sass and bight. She saw what she wanted and went after it. William was pretty okay as well, but I really enjoyed Sarah’s character as a whole.
I will say that after the love affair, things did slow down a little bit. And that misunderstanding, was a little too predictable, and well, as much as I love Sarah, and that first half of the book, I just wish the second half had the same hot steamy engagement. I don’t know if it was done to up the word count, but I felt like I was wading through mud to get to the point where Sarah and William finally got to be together again.
Overall I very much enjoy this story, so please take my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval, that you need to get your hands on not only this book but the others in the series.

Seraphina’s Awakening is the opening to Sheena Hutchinson’s Seraphina series. Don’t ask me why I started the series with book three, I must have been dreaming or something so do not make the same mistake and do start with the first one! It did send me back to the beginning though! What else you do when you encounter a fantasy/paranormal romance that is filled with mystery and has such a vivid imagery that you can simply close your eyes and BAM, it is there, in front of you! Seraphina’s Awakening is a quick read that keeps you engaged from page one! We meet Seraphina who seems to be a normal girl in her mid-twenties living a boring life outside though inside she feels as if she is lost and something is missing in her life… she has had crazy dreams for years that feel life visions and then … one night things change and enter Nate and she steps into a supernatural world where she needs to find her way battling evil and trying to fulfil her destiny! I promise you will fall for Seraphina and Nate and all the supporting character and you will reach for the next book in the series!
Stepping it Up (The Liberty Lawrence Series book two) By Bea Stevens 4 STars!!!!
I just found myself getting lost in this book. I couldn’t put it down. I found the author’s writing style to be quite addictive. I really found the characters to be realistic and relatable. I really found myself routing for Libby. I really enjoyed how the author was able to entwine enough drama and just a hint of romance to keep you glued to the pages.
I like how Libby is down to earth and how her character feels real. The drama that unfolds in the book just adds to it and keeps the reader interested. I also like how Libby and James have their ups and downs and how they really pull out of them and seem to grow stronger. I was a bit anxious when it came to James’ ex but it seems that even that drama couldn’t bring them down. I will definitely be reading more from this author and hopefully this series.

Seraphina’s Initiation by Sheena Hutchinson is the second book in the Seraphina’ series. This series needs to be read in order so that you get a full understanding. This book continues the great story we were introduced to in book one. Sera is fully immersed in the world of Angels and Demons, fighting to protect the ones she loves. The author had done an amazing job at developing this story and these characters. It picks straight back up again and transports you straight back to the world you would have been reluctant to leave behind. This book carries the momentum built up in the first and becomes such a great instalment. I am very much looking forward to the next one!
An Improper Encounter is the third book in the Macalisters series by Erica Taylor. This book can be a stand-alone story but if you read the previous two books you will get some insight to this story. Erica Taylor has done an amazing job with the Macalisters sisters. Out of the three I will admit this story was most interested in. This is Lady Sarah’s story. Her story is one of love, lost, and bewilderment. Will fate hurt Sarah’s chance at love or will they overcome what has happened?

Wish I Had a Nickel is the second book in the Sand Dollar Series. J. D. Bourdreaux is a mastermind at writing characters that are complex but, in the same fashion able to relate to them. Being that this is book 2, I recommend reading book 1 so that you will get more enjoyment out of this book. Ms. Bourdreaux has continued the story of Alex and Leigh. I felt a relax flow through this story as if Ms. Bourdreaux really had fun writing this book. This story has more than just romance in the story. There was more friendship, love, family, and fate in this story. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I have. I am looking forward to the third book which is being released soon.

Pandora’s Poison is the 2nd book in the Hart and Cole series by Sacha T Y Fortune. I really loved the first book Climbing The Walls, but this was even better. I would not recommend reading this if you have not read the first book. Pandora’s Poison centres around Darren and Luisa Hart who we are introduced to in the first book, although Kris and Nicole still play a role in this 2nd book. Darren and Luisa are having marriage troubles and are fighting to save their marriage. Most of their troubles are centred around 2 main areas, Darren’s working relationship with Nicole and also Luisa’s affair with Gianni 4 years previously. Without giving anything away, I’ll say that Gianni’s return causes much angst for both Darren and Luisa. This book is far from your heart-warming love story. It’s a totally warts and all look at marriage and all the things that put strain on a marriage such as infidelity. As much as I’m a sucker for a heart-warming romance, I loved this dark look at marriage, showing just how hard marriage can be in real life. Having loved the first two books in this series, I can’t wait for the 3rd book to come out to see what Sacha T Y Fortune has in store for us next.

A great read about fighting. Annie is a spy working towards the American independence in the 1700s. When she is captured by Hessian soldiers, she thinks her number is up. To her surprise, she is rescued by Captain Thayer Emmerich and lives another day. But things get complicated when a codes spy book goes missing. With lives on the line, what lengths will Annie go to to fight for what she believes? A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns that I just couldn’t put down. Well developed characters like Annie full of fierce spirit but kind underneath or Thayer as quiet and reserved but still doing the right thing. Great cast of supporting characters like kind friend Benjamin or sweet Millicent or the cruel Emilia. A great example of using a different perspective for the sequel telling Annie’s story. I loved the visual detail throughout the novel like the town with the busy streets full of life and people with its horses and carts and little cottages as vivid as if you were actually there with its sense of history. Or with the dagger small and elegant with its embellished designs. Or the vivid sense of colour with the dresses with dark blues and bright reds and stark whites for a sense of colour contrasting against the darkness of night and the cemetary perfectly written. I loved the mix of fantasy with the vampires and the realism of the history of the time period combined together beautifully for a great read. Fast paced action and high stakes made for a captivating read. Overall, a great read and I would give it five stars.

What She Lost and Found by M.L. Garcia is an emotional story about a young woman, Daniela, whose life has been torn apart by rape and murder. Trying to build a new life in a new city, she finds her past holding her back from getting close to anyone, particularly men. As the story progresses, she realises she has a lot more to go through before she will fully be safe. I really like the characters in this. Bridget, Daniela’s former roommate and closest friend at uni, is full of energy and love for her friends. Love triangle notwithstanding, I also like Nathan and Alex and admire how they respect Daniela and her boundaries. It’s written in a first person, fairly informal style. At times I found this a little frustrating as Daniela’s thoughts and worries kept the story from flowing but I suppose that’s a pretty accurate portrayal of how her concerns were keeping her from getting on with her life. There’s a lot of detail – we are told exactly what Daniela is wearing every time she gets changed – which for me was a bit excessive but might for others help paint a vivid picture. With rape and murder scenes, often fairly vividly described, this is quite a dark book but it is balanced with cheerful, playful friendship and gentle romance. It might be triggering for some readers. I found it quite tense at times, but mostly in an “I can’t put this book down!” kind of way. For me, this is a four star read. I would recommend it to new adult readers who want a book about overcoming challenges and tragedy.

Shattered Love is a great debut novel by Nivia Borell. This romance read is so unbelievably heart-wrenching, emotional, frustrating, captivating and very intriguing. From the very beginning I was intrigued by Bria and Damien and their twisted and tumultuous history. Being able to read from the many POV’s along with past and present moments had me asking all kinds of questions and I couldn’t wait to get some answers and let me tell you this author did not disappoint!
I can’t wait to dive into Book 2 once released now that I’ve reached the end of this one as I still have so many questions that I can’t wait to get answers too! I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone looking for their next romance read!

Surviving Grace is another 5-star read by the incredibly talented author Virginia Wine! This novella is the fifth book in the Surviving Series, a series that cannot be read as a standalone as each new book closely follows the previous.
After reading the 4th book and being haunted by Grace’s story I couldn’t wait to dive into this one, and I was certainly not disappointed. I loved being able to follow Grace, she had so much courage and strength and really is unlike any other.
This is a series I would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for their next suspenseful romance reads!

Wish I had a Nickel by J.D. Boudreaux a four-star read that you can wish upon. This is the second novel in the Sand Dollar series I have enjoyed the first book in the series Penny for your thoughts and then this one and I can’t wait for the third. This one is about second chances romance and sadness, love and drama, the author has great descriptive ways you will feel like you are there with them know what’s on each corner of the town, the author has built the story over the two books and the third will be better I’m sure as they build on each other. Alex is a compelling story teller and he will make you listen.

An Improper Encounter by Erica Taylor a five-star read that is most certainly proper. This is the third novel in the Macalisters series, they can be read as stand alone but I have read them as a series and enjoyed them more as such. If you like the historical romance genre then you will enjoy this series. Sarah is definitely my favourite character in this series, she has so much thrown at her but still is a lady throughout. There were parts that dragged a little, bit overall at the end I was happy I had read it.

This story touched a place in my heart I try to keep locked away. No one wants to lose the person they love. But when you have no choice in the matter it makes it so much more heartbreaking. Alex is at a point in his life that he wants more but isn’t sure why he hasn’t taken the steps to get it. I honestly would love to meet a guy like Alex. He is a great character. Don’t get me wrong he is definitely flawed but he doesn’t pretend or put up airs about himself. I like that this is Alex’s story. We read so many books in the females PIC that when it’s a males it catches your attention. The author did a wonderful job with this book. The story was superfluous or exaggerated. When you read this book it almost read like a memory being told to someone. A sharing of a love never forgotten.

TROUBLE’S WEDDING CAPER Familiar Legacy #8 by JEN TALTY

This story was so fun. I loved how the author put it in the cats POV. I was more interested in what the cat thought then the actual story. The plot was interesting especially the deal with the wedding items. Annabel was a super sweet lady who didn’t deserve the treatment she received from her ex. But we shouldn’t stick in a relationship when it’s not heading anywhere. I really had fun reading this story it was a quick read. I think stories like this are great for taking breaks from the normal genres I read. It gives me time to appreciate the authors. Ethan is clueless though. How did he not notice? Learning about them was exciting and breathtaking. The connection Alex and Leigh shared was riveting and certainly kept me glued to every word. I absorbed all that they felt, all that they wanted, all that they could give each other. It is always bittersweet when the end of such quality stories comes before you are aware it is happening. So engrossed with their story, it comes out of nowhere. What an experience it was to read Wish I Had a Nickel. I cannot wait for the next story in the Sand dollar series. 4 stars.

Bound is book two in the Torzial Affair series by Via Mari. The story of Jenny and Brian continues in this action filled, dramatic saga. This style of writing is very addictive and I found it quite hard to get anything done, other than to keep reading!
There is always so much going on in a Via Mari novel, but not too much that it is hard to keep up with the story. The plot is easy to follow, but also intensely mysterious. Many twists make this story unputdownable. It had a way of creeping past your defences and captivating you until you are at the last word of the book. A total escape from reality. Bound is a tale to immerse yourself into with wild abandon. Ever the entertainer, always pages upon pages of intrigue. 4 stars.

Shattered Love: Book one of the “Forever us” series by Nivia Borell is a contemporary romance story that is a very raw and extremely emotional read. This story provoked so many feelings in me and I am not sure how I feel about it. It is a story of young love destroyed by one night. A night that was not at all what it seemed. A night that destroyed two people beyond repair. I was so angry at times and my heart was breaking. The pain is palpable, hearts are shattered, anger is ripe, lies and deceit are finally discovered but is it too late? The story is told from several POVs, which gives an inside look at the emotions and feelings of the characters and makes the story more interesting even though I didn’t quite connect with these characters.
Bria no recollection of events but everything points to betrayal. Betrayal that has literally caused her heart to break and her mind to splinter. She has broken heart syndrome and has become emotionally shut down and numb. All the players believe they have been brought together to celebrate her birthday but for her it is something entirely different.
Damien will never let love in to his life again. Betrayal runs to deep. The anger he holds keeps feeling anything else at bay but the words he finds can only destroy. When secrets and lies are finally revealed can he finally find the peace he needs to heal the one thing he still loves?
I am interested to see what the next book in the series brings.
Dancing Queen by Charlotte Roth is a little different, easy to read and a little quirky that makes for a light read. It is fun and witty and had me laughing from the very start but there are also a lot of painful memories for our characters which made them all the more endearing to me. It is a story where by people are forced to look at themselves. It’s a story of people who finally do something for themselves. It is a story of pain and passion of being to fat or too thin. It is a story where the main characters are not what society consider the norm. It is a story of it is not always what you see on the outside but what is inside. It is a story of love and acceptance, hopes and dreams.
It is a sweet and heartfelt journey that the characters are on, with the support of their misfit family and friends.
Black Bullet (The Order of the Senary #2) by L.D. Rose is a must read dark paranormal romance that will have you on the edge of your seat. There is lots of action and horror, bloodshed and gore, mayhem and angst. This journey will have you captivated as we traverse the dark and twisted world that has turned upside down and left broken and tortured beings that you can’t help but love.
Jonathan James Kerr, a US Marine is dead but Jon, is undead, a hybrid with a soul and living with a monster in him. He and his family, his brothers of sorts are trying to rid the world of the vile creatures that are causing death and destruction. Jon has stumbled upon one thing that the world didn’t know existed and one thing his brothers thought long dead. One thing that may be just what he needs.
The is a dark and gripping tale that you do not want to miss. I can not wait for the next one.

The story Dancing Queen by Charlotte Roth is an amazing book that I loved reading. It is a story that will warm your heart and has inspirational characters. It is a book that drew me in from the very beginning and I found myself getting lost in its pages. I loved reading about Fiona. She is a woman who has always had a love of dancing. She is someone who is confronted with her “weight issues” by those in her workplace. Along with her co-worker Stu she is encouraged to attend a support group to help with “health” issues. Instead of taking a suggestion to try quilting, Fiona and Stu enter a dance competition. Read this story to find out what happens next! This is a story that will bring a smile to your face and at times have you laughing out loud. My emotions went up and down with the characters. There are heartbreaking and heartwarming moments in this book. There is both intense and humorous dialogue. Fiona is a character that I could really identify with how she felt judged about her weight. As I have personally struggled with my weight all of my life, she is someone that I could both empathize and sympathize with. Fiona is a character that I grew to love with each chapter that I read and I wanted her to feel happy with her life. This is a story that will hook you in from the very beginning and won’t let go until you have read the final page. Don’t miss out on a book with a wonderful story to tell and amazing characters. I would highly recommend reading it.
