I have read some of the Playmaker Series and always enjoy them. This book didn’t disappoint! What a fun “Halloween Costume Requirement” having everyone dress up as a mascot! The story starts with Drew kind of hiding away during the Halloween party and Katie finding a quiet moment away from the party. They soon realize that they not only have friends in common but also really “click” with each other. These two are super like able! I loved this novella that included family members of the Hockey players connect.

This was such a fun read and makes me want to read The Playmakers Series for sure! I loved reading about Drew and Katie and following their fun storyline as they fell for each other. I absolutely LOVED their story start which had me laughing so many times!! This book just had me smiling pretty much the whole time! I’m loving this authors style and will definitely be checking out the entire series.

Love Rinkside is Book #10, and the twelfth instalment, in The Playmakers series by G.K. Brady. It is a ‘meet cute’ contemporary romance with humour, fun, antics, capers, costumes, adventure, friendship, family, drama, angst, hockey, banter, emotion, sweet storyline, chemistry, and finding love unexpectedly. Even though this instalment is well into the series (Book #10), it could be read as a standalone if you wanted, without feeling like you are missing anything, as each book in the series focuses on a different couple. But having said that, there are recurring characters, and other details, which span the series, so knowing what happens in the previous instalments would only help to enhance your reading experience here. This is probably my favourite out of the instalments that I have read in the series. It is a fairly short story with a light-hearted, rom-com feel- making for a fun, quick, and easy read. Happy Reading…

3.5 – 4 stars Love Rinkside is a fun standalone novella in The Playmakers series. It is a quick and entertaining read. This sports RomCom has much humour and banter and had me laughing out loud and sometimes cringing at their predicaments. This sweet with a dash of spice tale is full of emotions as well. We get to meet up with characters from previous books and what a mess they get themselves into. Drew and Katie find themselves in a most unlikely situation when they escape a fancy dress party and end up on the wrong side of the law. Unfortunately, Drew is not looking for love in fact dating is not even in his wheelhouse but when a certain someone bursts in full colour into his life he finally accepts the inevitable. Want a feel-good story that you can enjoy and escape for a few hours then this is the book for you. Love Rinkside has it all Halloween, Thanksgiving and Hockey. Crazy costumes, rough neighbourhoods, nosy friends and family and you have mayhem and madness at the ready.

Drew is just floating through his life at the moment, trying to get his business up and running but when his major contract is given to another company not because of the level of skill but that they are lower in price and know someone within the company he becomes depressed and when his sister and his brother-in-law persuades him to go to there Halloween party and he meets another misfit on the balcony, can he handle the attraction or will she put them into the friendzone.
Katie is invited to a Halloween party of her colleague but the theme is mascots so Katie pulls out all the stops and goes in the most embarrassing one but as she is escaping she spots some beers on the balcony but when she runs into a Banana things get interesting. Drew is the brother of her colleague and the chemistry between them is electric but Katie is not sure if she wants to have a relationship, but when he ticks all her boxes can she give this a chance.
This is a brilliant romance story where the characters are believable and you would love to have them in your real life rather than your book world fantasy. The story draws you in and has you rushing to turn the page to find out what happens next.
Katie’s character is full of sass and a great sense of humour which moulds brilliantly with the not too alpha character in Drew which was lovely to read, the chemistry between these two was just amazing and loved reading it. The secondary characters just add to the story and make it really enjoyable. I can’t wait to read more from the wonderful author in the future.

Although it was a quick listen, Love Rinkside was a laugh out loud funny, well written, hockey romance. Although the guy plays hockey and it’s important to him it wasn’t the center point of the novel. The first chapter had me laughing out loud. I loved the relationship between the MMC and the FMC, and it started out pretty intense for them both. I think both voices were a perfect fit for the characters and really brought them to life! I am definitely interested in reading/listening to more of the novels in this series.

So sweet, I guess these are now called meet cute romances. Oh, so adorable that I felt a cavity form. I loved these two together. An adventure that brought them together for a sweet romance. The chemistry was fun and playful. I found myself giggling out loud. My grandson kept asking what’s funny. I can’t tell a 10 yr old boy why I’m laughing at a romance. It’s a quick read that’s very entertaining. Great writing and wonderful characters.

This is my first audio book by this author which I enjoyed reading. It is an engaging story where the narrator brought the story to life with the different tones of voice. I enjoyed how the characters made me want to know more. This is a story about Drew and Katie . They are great characters. They have one night of fun that gets cut short by a dog attack. Now Drew wants a second chance to make it up to Katie. This is an easy story to listen to. I enjoyed this one and I look forward to listening to more from this author. I highly recommend this audiobook.

I enjoyed reading this romance story. This is a newer author for me which I enjoy their writing style as well as their creative characters that are written with a lot of heart. I enjoyed the author’s use of details to bring the characters to life as well. This is a shorter story but it sure packs a punch in the romance department. It is a well written story where the characters pull you into their world from the start. Drew and Katie are great characters. They have one night of fun that gets cut short by a dog attack. Now Drew wants a second chance to make it up to Katie. Problem is she is done with guys, will she give him another chance? I enjoyed watching their growth and their chemistry. It made the story easy to read and entertaining as well. This is a fast paced, engaging story that you don’t want to miss. A story that is hard to put down and one I really enjoyed reading. I highly recommend this book.

This was a quick, fun meet cute. I enjoyed the characters and thought the story was fun. For a novella, it had a nice flow and didn’t feel like there was a thousand things packed inside. The plot was appropriately paced and had humor mixed with other emotion. If you like romance- this is a quick, good choice.

Drew Foster is trapped in a one-man operation. Focused on building his small IT consulting business, the workaholic thirty-one-year-old has no time for close relationships except with his sister and widowed mom. But at a Halloween bash hosted by his brother-in-law’s hockey teammate, he hits it off with an unknown woman in an outrageous mascot costume.
Katie Denning is done with men. Burned by past boyfriends using her to get close to the professional sports team, the loyal dog-lover leaves the party with a guy dressed as a giant banana slug… only to be pursued by police. Though their romantic rendezvous is cut short by her Chow-mix attacking him, a determined Drew asks for a second chance. A cautiously optimistic Katie begins falling hard, but she fears Drew’s work demands could result in her facing another painful rejection.

I have read a few books from this author and she continues to blow my mind on how she writes her characters. My favorite genre is sports romance and she always exceeds my expectations. This book could be read as a standalone but there are previous characters in this story as well. I was excited for this book and I started reading it right away. It only took me a full day to read this awesome story. I can’t wait to see what she will write about next.
Wyatt Tompkins is a very well known goaltender. He is a huge player who has no problem with it at all. Wyatt thinks he can’t be touched but he finds himself not playing for a year. He then goes to cool off and hears a woman in trouble. Wyatt goes and helps right away and when he finds out who he saved he is in shock. He helps the PR woman that probably got him in this mess in the first place. Wyatt needs all the help he can get and Serena now owes him one. Will they be able to get what they have wanted all along or will they be too different from another?

Brady – Review by Heather Bass
Guarding the Crease by G.K. Brady is one of my favorite opposites-attracts romances. It was full of all the things I love…sweetness, spiciness, the feels, and a fantastic, wonderful ending!!!
Wyatt and Serena are complete opposites. He is a playboy who seems intent on wrecking his career. She is extremely good at her job and takes it very seriously. He has a mother who seems intent on telling him he is worth NOTHING despite his success. She has a loving and supportive family. Plus, the two don’t really like each other very much either. Basically, they should never work, but somehow they do.
Serena is a victim of an attack when the last person she expects to be her savior is her biggest pain in the neck, Wyatt, the disgraced NHL goaltender. He not only doesn’t leave her side, but he makes sure she makes it home safely. But, Wyatt being Wyatt, thinks he can use this to his advantage and get Serena to help him out in two ways: as a wedding date and getting his spot back on the team. As these two spend more time together, a sweet friendship develops with a lot of underlying chemistry that sizzles. I can’t remember the last time I enjoyed seeing a bad boy fall so hard!
Wyatt is like a puzzle piece she can’t quite figure out. He has a horrible partying playboy reputation, but he also has a sweet, caring side as well. Trying to figure out what makes this man tick now playing with her own feelings. There is something special that continues to draw her towards him.
Serena isn’t like any woman Wyatt has ever been with. She’s not only beautiful, but she is intelligent and works really hard at her job in the PR Department. Plus, she doesn’t fawn all over him because he is a professional athlete. She points out his selfishness but not in a way that demeans him, only in a way that allows him to see who he really is and become a better person. Although she does have one thing in common with him, her love of Legos. What could be sweeter than that!!!!
The romance isn’t the only plot happening in the book. There is still danger lurking around the corner for Serena, and she wants to handle it herself. Thank God Wyatt doesn’t agree. He literally is a knight in shining armor, even if that armor is a little bit dinged.
If you love flawed hockey heroes and strong, quirky, and smart heroines, along with an opposites-attract novel with all the feels, this book is definitely for you! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!!!

Guarding the Crease (The Playmakers Series Hockey Romances Book 9) by G.K. Brady is a great sport romance.
Wyatt requires Serena’s clever PR skills, and he’s not above manipulating the payback. He’s even willing to overlook her prickly exterior in order to win her over. After all, she’s already acquainted with his brand of lunacy, and it doesn’t hurt that she’s attractive. Serena is determined to propel her career to new heights and become invaluable to the team—as soon as she overcomes a devious teammate. Helping Wyatt will simply divert her attention and energy away from her main purpose, but she can’t deny that more sizzles beneath his roguish smile. Serena slowly pulls back the layers to expose the true heart pulsing beneath the goalie gear.
Every page was exciting and I couldn’t wait to see what would happen. It is a unique sports romance series. The story really brings excitement into your life. I couldn’t put the book down.

Taming Beckett (The Playmakers Series Hockey Romances Book 1) by G.K. Brady’s great romance series.
Beckett Miller’s hedonistic lifestyle has just been cooled. Following a high-profile fall from grace due to a drug scandal, the elderly pro hockey superstar is without a team, has been withdrawn from endorsements, and is absolutely bankrupt. Desperate to sell his house, the league’s bad boy is forced to work with a real estate agent with a dazzling smile and with whom he’d just made a tremendous fool of himself. Paige Anderson’s success in sales has not translated into relationships. Paige is going out all the stops to keep her marriage together as her husband grows more distant, and the last thing she wants is a scandal-plagued playboy athlete as a client. However, the hefty commission she’ll receive from the sale appears to be worthwhile.

Wyatt Tompkins has had one too many bad days. His PR team has had their work cut out for them with all his antics, but Serena Lambert has become a pro over the years at spinning things in a better light. Wyatt’s only goal is to be a goalie in the big leagues, but he is currently swimming in the minors. Serena is the only one who can help him climb back to the top. Will she be willing to help him? Even though she has only ever seen him in a bad light he does seem to be a changed man. This was a good book. I think I have read one or two others in this series but I will definitely be reading the rest. The author put together a great cast of character who showed a lot of development. I can’t wait to dive into the other books in the series.

This is another great book in this hockey series. I have not been a fan of Wyatt in the other playmaker series books, but the author did a great job changing my mind with this story line. You get to see Wyatt grow and change throughout the book as a love story evolves with Serena. Great read, it doesnt disappoint!

I have enjoyed other books in this series so it should come as no surprise that this one raises the bar a little bit more. I thought that creating an image for Wyatt that was anything close to loveable was going to be a challenge. Somehow the author not only carved him into a redeemable man but had me rooting for him! I love Serena’s character as she is strong but gracious. The chemistry flies off the pages eventually, but will it be enough? I recommend picking up any book in this series, but this one is absolutely a very enjoyable read!

I have read my fair share of sports romance books, but this one takes the cake! I happened to see the cover and grabbed a copy but wasn’t sure what I was getting into with this author as they are new to me. I’m so glad I took the chance because I was absolutely addicted to the story. Beckett starts off not so loveable and makes you wonder why he’s making these choices. Paige is oh-so-relatable, and I found myself invested in both of them rather quickly. The flow of the story is incredible, and it had me racing to the end of each page to figure out what was going to happen next. I highly recommend this book even if you aren’t a huge fan of sports romances because I think this one will catch you pleasantly off guard.

Guarding the Crease: An Opposites Attract Romance (The Playmakers Series Hockey Romances Book 9)
Serena and Wyatt couldn’t be more opposite. She is hard working career driven and he is a giant party boy who seems to be unable to stay out trouble which ends up costing him his job and hanging out with the owners son.
Wyatt was in the right place at the right time and that started a chain of events that slowly start to get his life on track.
I really enjoyed this book, there were so many little things that added to the characters and story and I couldn’t put it down. I hope I’m able to catch up with Wyatt, Serena & family some day.

Wyatt Tompkins is a former NHL player who is trying to get back into the league by sucking up to the owner of his former teams son. Serena Lambert is the PR director for the team that Wyatt happens to run into at an event. He didn’t recognize her at first but he saves her life in the parking lot as she is being attacked. He had not set his mind on having her help him get back on the team. He is wanting her to help him clean up his image so that they feel he has changed his bad boy ways. Will she help him out after he saved her life or will she leave him hanging in the wind?

This is an enemies-to-lovers hockey romance. Wyatt Tompkins use to be a star goalie in the NHL. However, his bad-boy reputation has gotten him into more trouble than he can count. He is trying to make his way back onto the team, but in the process is keeping up his old ways. That is until he comes to a rescue of a woman being attacked. While he saves her, he realizes he knows her. Serena Lambert is the woman he comes to save, but he is also her worst nightmare because she is the head of his former hockey team’s PR. She was the one in charge of covering up all his indiscretions, so she is not fond of him. However, they start to help each other out – her teaching him better PR so he can get back on the team, and also through a “fake dating” experience, they actually start to get to know each other. She is surprised by the person he is and vice versa. Is there more there? Can she get over his Playboy background no matter what her feelings are? I enjoyed this story. There was great banter, movement of the plot, character development, and the ability to fall in love with the characters. I didn’t want to really give anything away, but I will say there is a lot of plot and character development. This is a quick-moving romance which I love. Serena is a great character, strong, intelligent, and open minded. Wyatt, while at the start you will think he is pig-headed, he actually becomes a really great character. His progress throughout the book was great. In the end, you can just feel the change and how much Serena means to him. There was even some spice, but nothing over the top.

This is the 9th book in The Playmakers Series. This is a sports romance with an element of the couple being opposites that attract. The author does a great job with the characters. At first Wyatt is definately someone I couldn’t like. He was arrogant and thought he was gods gift. He just expected things to go his own way and when they didn’t he looked to other people to fix problems he made. He has got a reputation of being the teams bad boy and that has led him to be dropped from playing the game he loves. He is desperate to find a way back into the coaches good books and to repair his reputation but he needs help. The person who normally has to clean up his mess is Serena who works the PR for the team Wyatt is part of. She is very career focused and what’s to go far in her career. When an incident occurs and Wyatt came to her rescue she knew he would call in a favour at some point, but when he tells her he wants her to rebuild his reputation and get him back on the first team she is shocked and also annoyed as this will take her away from her primary goal of advancing her career. Now she has the challenge which will get all of her PR skills. How does she changes the reputation of the biggest PR nightmare she has ever known? As they start to work together the chemistry starts to sizzle. Both of them have things to learn. As Serena starts to uncover the real Wyatt she sees a side to him she didn’t realise existed. Maybe Wyatt isn’t so bad after all? Wyatt meanwhile is learning how to be a bit more appreciative of his team and teammates. As both of them learn to grow and change can they get what they in both their careers and blossoming relationship or will the pressures of their jobs and the forces that are trying to bring them down succeed in stopping them. This was a really good read. And the character development was amazing. I went from not liking Wyatt at all to find him a strong and protective person who will protect those he cares about. As he realises that things are just about him, I loved how this realisation enabled him to improve his relationships not only with his team mates but with Serena the girl he wants. This story is a slow burn romance and I loved how our main characters grew together and that growth made them more connected and attracted to each other.

Yet again this wonderful author has brought us a captivating storyline with complex characters…I think that’s the word I want… who you may well love to hate at the start, well Wyatt at least lol but who will draw you in to their story and maybe even worm their way into your heart. Do yourself a favour and get reading this series.

Wow just wow!! What an amazing start to what I just know will be a fantastic series. It truly is so very much more than I expected from a contemporary sports romance. Beckett and Paige are wonderful characters who go through so much, especially Beckett, but with the hard times comes a lot of personal growth. All the trials and tribulations are so well written by this talented author that you will be hooked from start to finish just like I was. When I first started reading this book I had definite perceived ideas of who these characters were going to be but oh boy was I so wrong because they were so so much more than I could ever have imagined.

WOW!! Can I have me a Wyatt?? I think he is my new book husband. I get that he has some baggage and a few issues but he is working on them. 😉
Wyatt is a troubled elite goalie. He has been acting out for his mother’s attention for so long he is not even sure if he likes his own antics. He is trying to reclaim his job and be the #1 again, but for him to do that he has to face some harsh truths about himself.
Serena is the PR Director that has been in charge of spinning Wyatt’s wild ways for the last several years. When Wyatt got sent to the minor league team, Serena was able to breathe for a minute. Now Wyatt is back. To Serena’s surprise, Wyatt doesn’t honestly seem like the d-bag that his antics portray him to be. Maybe he has grown up, maybe he can change.
After Wyatt intervenes during a situation with Serena, they start spending time together as Wyatt cons Serena into being his date for a family wedding so that his mother doesn’t saddle him with a social-climbing, status-seeking debutante. A friendship grows. Feelings get real.
This book is funny with real characters. There were scenes where I just wanted to shake the character and say, “I can’t believe you just said that!” Totally hooks you. Read this book if you love hockey, hot guys, and second chances.

Wyatt is sent down the minors after being a PR nightmare for his pro hockey team. In trying to work his way back up the big leagues, he has to be on his best behavior. A night out with team owner’s son finds him in the hospital with woman whose life he terrorized as she was in charge of hockey PR. When he cashes in on an IOU for saving her that night, Wyatt and Serena start up quite an odd friendship. However, there is more at play here…his need to keep a clean image, her sneaky assistant, his uncontrollable mother, and the sliminess of her boss (and his son). The more time they spend together, the closer Wyatt and Serena get. But, as secrets come out, will these two be strong enough to withstand the storm?
I enjoyed these characters…as they balanced each other and evened each other out. I really enjoyed the supporting characters and how they were able to see the good in Wyatt when sometimes he couldn’t see it himself. Meanwhile, Serena had her own problems that Wyatt was able to support her through. They healed each other. It was a good story that I enjoyed reading!
