Guarding the Crease (The Playmakers #9)Guarding the Crease by G.K. Brady
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have read a few books from this author and she continues to blow my mind on how she writes her characters. My favorite genre is sports romance and she always exceeds my expectations. This book could be read as a standalone but there are previous characters in this story as well. I was excited for this book and I started reading it right away. It only took me a full day to read this awesome story. I can’t wait to see what she will write about next.

Wyatt Tompkins is a very well known goaltender. He is a huge player who has no problem with it at all. Wyatt thinks he can’t be touched but he finds himself not playing for a year. He then goes to cool off and hears a woman in trouble. Wyatt goes and helps right away and when he finds out who he saved he is in shock. He helps the PR woman that probably got him in this mess in the first place. Wyatt needs all the help he can get and Serena now owes him one. Will they be able to get what they have wanted all along or will they be too different from another?

Guarding the Crease (The Playmakers Series Hockey Romances Book 9) by G.K. Brady – Review by Christie Mitchum

Guarding the Crease (The Playmakers #9)Guarding the Crease by G.K. Brady
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Guarding the Crease by G.K. Brady is one of my favorite opposites-attracts romances. It was full of all the things I love…sweetness, spiciness, the feels, and a fantastic, wonderful ending!!!

Wyatt and Serena are complete opposites. He is a playboy who seems intent on wrecking his career. She is extremely good at her job and takes it very seriously. He has a mother who seems intent on telling him he is worth NOTHING despite his success. She has a loving and supportive family. Plus, the two don’t really like each other very much either. Basically, they should never work, but somehow they do.

Serena is a victim of an attack when the last person she expects to be her savior is her biggest pain in the neck, Wyatt, the disgraced NHL goaltender. He not only doesn’t leave her side, but he makes sure she makes it home safely. But, Wyatt being Wyatt, thinks he can use this to his advantage and get Serena to help him out in two ways: as a wedding date and getting his spot back on the team. As these two spend more time together, a sweet friendship develops with a lot of underlying chemistry that sizzles. I can’t remember the last time I enjoyed seeing a bad boy fall so hard!

Wyatt is like a puzzle piece she can’t quite figure out. He has a horrible partying playboy reputation, but he also has a sweet, caring side as well. Trying to figure out what makes this man tick now playing with her own feelings. There is something special that continues to draw her towards him.

Serena isn’t like any woman Wyatt has ever been with. She’s not only beautiful, but she is intelligent and works really hard at her job in the PR Department. Plus, she doesn’t fawn all over him because he is a professional athlete. She points out his selfishness but not in a way that demeans him, only in a way that allows him to see who he really is and become a better person. Although she does have one thing in common with him, her love of Legos. What could be sweeter than that!!!!

The romance isn’t the only plot happening in the book. There is still danger lurking around the corner for Serena, and she wants to handle it herself. Thank God Wyatt doesn’t agree. He literally is a knight in shining armor, even if that armor is a little bit dinged.

If you love flawed hockey heroes and strong, quirky, and smart heroines, along with an opposites-attract novel with all the feels, this book is definitely for you! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!!!

Guarding the Crease (The Playmakers #9)Guarding the Crease by G.K. Brady
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Guarding the Crease (The Playmakers Series Hockey Romances Book 9) by G.K. Brady is a great sport romance.

Wyatt requires Serena’s clever PR skills, and he’s not above manipulating the payback. He’s even willing to overlook her prickly exterior in order to win her over. After all, she’s already acquainted with his brand of lunacy, and it doesn’t hurt that she’s attractive. Serena is determined to propel her career to new heights and become invaluable to the team—as soon as she overcomes a devious teammate. Helping Wyatt will simply divert her attention and energy away from her main purpose, but she can’t deny that more sizzles beneath his roguish smile. Serena slowly pulls back the layers to expose the true heart pulsing beneath the goalie gear.

Every page was exciting and I couldn’t wait to see what would happen. It is a unique sports romance series. The story really brings excitement into your life. I couldn’t put the book down.

Taming Beckett (The Playmakers Series Hockey Romances Book 1) by G.K. Brady’s great romance series.

Beckett Miller’s hedonistic lifestyle has just been cooled. Following a high-profile fall from grace due to a drug scandal, the elderly pro hockey superstar is without a team, has been withdrawn from endorsements, and is absolutely bankrupt. Desperate to sell his house, the league’s bad boy is forced to work with a real estate agent with a dazzling smile and with whom he’d just made a tremendous fool of himself. Paige Anderson’s success in sales has not translated into relationships. Paige is going out all the stops to keep her marriage together as her husband grows more distant, and the last thing she wants is a scandal-plagued playboy athlete as a client. However, the hefty commission she’ll receive from the sale appears to be worthwhile.

Wyatt Tompkins has had one too many bad days. His PR team has had their work cut out for them with all his antics, but Serena Lambert has become a pro over the years at spinning things in a better light. Wyatt’s only goal is to be a goalie in the big leagues, but he is currently swimming in the minors. Serena is the only one who can help him climb back to the top. Will she be willing to help him? Even though she has only ever seen him in a bad light he does seem to be a changed man. This was a good book. I think I have read one or two others in this series but I will definitely be reading the rest. The author put together a great cast of character who showed a lot of development. I can’t wait to dive into the other books in the series.

This is another great book in this hockey series. I have not been a fan of Wyatt in the other playmaker series books, but the author did a great job changing my mind with this story line.
You get to see Wyatt grow and change throughout the book as a love story evolves with Serena. Great read, it doesnt disappoint!

I have enjoyed other books in this series so it should come as no surprise that this one raises the bar a little bit more. I thought that creating an image for Wyatt that was anything close to loveable was going to be a challenge. Somehow the author not only carved him into a redeemable man but had me rooting for him! I love Serena’s character as she is strong but gracious. The chemistry flies off the pages eventually, but will it be enough? I recommend picking up any book in this series, but this one is absolutely a very enjoyable read!

I have read my fair share of sports romance books, but this one takes the cake! I happened to see the cover and grabbed a copy but wasn’t sure what I was getting into with this author as they are new to me. I’m so glad I took the chance because I was absolutely addicted to the story. Beckett starts off not so loveable and makes you wonder why he’s making these choices. Paige is oh-so-relatable, and I found myself invested in both of them rather quickly. The flow of the story is incredible, and it had me racing to the end of each page to figure out what was going to happen next. I highly recommend this book even if you aren’t a huge fan of sports romances because I think this one will catch you pleasantly off guard.

Serena and Wyatt couldn’t be more opposite. She is hard working career driven and he is a giant party boy who seems to be unable to stay out trouble which ends up costing him his job and hanging out with the owners son.

Wyatt was in the right place at the right time and that started a chain of events that slowly start to get his life on track.

I really enjoyed this book, there were so many little things that added to the characters and story and I couldn’t put it down. I hope I’m able to catch up with Wyatt, Serena & family some day.

This is an enemies-to-lovers hockey romance. Wyatt Tompkins use to be a star goalie in the NHL. However, his bad-boy reputation has gotten him into more trouble than he can count. He is trying to make his way back onto the team, but in the process is keeping up his old ways. That is until he comes to a rescue of a woman being attacked. While he saves her, he realizes he knows her. Serena Lambert is the woman he comes to save, but he is also her worst nightmare because she is the head of his former hockey team’s PR. She was the one in charge of covering up all his indiscretions, so she is not fond of him. However, they start to help each other out – her teaching him better PR so he can get back on the team, and also through a “fake dating” experience, they actually start to get to know each other. She is surprised by the person he is and vice versa. Is there more there? Can she get over his Playboy background no matter what her feelings are?
I enjoyed this story. There was great banter, movement of the plot, character development, and the ability to fall in love with the characters. I didn’t want to really give anything away, but I will say there is a lot of plot and character development. This is a quick-moving romance which I love. Serena is a great character, strong, intelligent, and open minded. Wyatt, while at the start you will think he is pig-headed, he actually becomes a really great character. His progress throughout the book was great. In the end, you can just feel the change and how much Serena means to him. There was even some spice, but nothing over the top.

Guarding the Crease (The Playmakers Series Hockey Romances Book 9) by G.K. Brady – Review by Kerry Carr

Guarding the Crease (The Playmakers #9)Guarding the Crease by G.K. Brady
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the 9th book in The Playmakers Series. This is a sports romance with an element of the couple being opposites that attract. The author does a great job with the characters. At first Wyatt is definately someone I couldn’t like. He was arrogant and thought he was gods gift. He just expected things to go his own way and when they didn’t he looked to other people to fix problems he made. He has got a reputation of being the teams bad boy and that has led him to be dropped from playing the game he loves. He is desperate to find a way back into the coaches good books and to repair his reputation but he needs help.
The person who normally has to clean up his mess is Serena who works the PR for the team Wyatt is part of. She is very career focused and what’s to go far in her career.
When an incident occurs and Wyatt came to her rescue she knew he would call in a favour at some point, but when he tells her he wants her to rebuild his reputation and get him back on the first team she is shocked and also annoyed as this will take her away from her primary goal of advancing her career.
Now she has the challenge which will get all of her PR skills. How does she changes the reputation of the biggest PR nightmare she has ever known?
As they start to work together the chemistry starts to sizzle. Both of them have things to learn. As Serena starts to uncover the real Wyatt she sees a side to him she didn’t realise existed. Maybe Wyatt isn’t so bad after all?
Wyatt meanwhile is learning how to be a bit more appreciative of his team and teammates.
As both of them learn to grow and change can they get what they in both their careers and blossoming relationship or will the pressures of their jobs and the forces that are trying to bring them down succeed in stopping them.
This was a really good read. And the character development was amazing. I went from not liking Wyatt at all to find him a strong and protective person who will protect those he cares about. As he realises that things are just about him, I loved how this realisation enabled him to improve his relationships not only with his team mates but with Serena the girl he wants.
This story is a slow burn romance and I loved how our main characters grew together and that growth made them more connected and attracted to each other.

Wow just wow!! What an amazing start to what I just know will be a fantastic series. It truly is so very much more than I expected from a contemporary sports romance. Beckett and Paige are wonderful characters who go through so much, especially Beckett, but with the hard times comes a lot of personal growth. All the trials and tribulations are so well written by this talented author that you will be hooked from start to finish just like I was. When I first started reading this book I had definite perceived ideas of who these characters were going to be but oh boy was I so wrong because they were so so much more than I could ever have imagined.

WOW!! Can I have me a Wyatt?? I think he is my new book husband. I get that he has some baggage and a few issues but he is working on them. 😉

Wyatt is a troubled elite goalie. He has been acting out for his mother’s attention for so long he is not even sure if he likes his own antics. He is trying to reclaim his job and be the #1 again, but for him to do that he has to face some harsh truths about himself.

Serena is the PR Director that has been in charge of spinning Wyatt’s wild ways for the last several years. When Wyatt got sent to the minor league team, Serena was able to breathe for a minute. Now Wyatt is back. To Serena’s surprise, Wyatt doesn’t honestly seem like the d-bag that his antics portray him to be. Maybe he has grown up, maybe he can change.

After Wyatt intervenes during a situation with Serena, they start spending time together as Wyatt cons Serena into being his date for a family wedding so that his mother doesn’t saddle him with a social-climbing, status-seeking debutante. A friendship grows. Feelings get real.

This book is funny with real characters. There were scenes where I just wanted to shake the character and say, “I can’t believe you just said that!” Totally hooks you. Read this book if you love hockey, hot guys, and second chances.

Wyatt is sent down the minors after being a PR nightmare for his pro hockey team. In trying to work his way back up the big leagues, he has to be on his best behavior. A night out with team owner’s son finds him in the hospital with woman whose life he terrorized as she was in charge of hockey PR. When he cashes in on an IOU for saving her that night, Wyatt and Serena start up quite an odd friendship. However, there is more at play here…his need to keep a clean image, her sneaky assistant, his uncontrollable mother, and the sliminess of her boss (and his son). The more time they spend together, the closer Wyatt and Serena get. But, as secrets come out, will these two be strong enough to withstand the storm?

I enjoyed these characters…as they balanced each other and evened each other out. I really enjoyed the supporting characters and how they were able to see the good in Wyatt when sometimes he couldn’t see it himself. Meanwhile, Serena had her own problems that Wyatt was able to support her through. They healed each other. It was a good story that I enjoyed reading!

Guarding the crease by G.K Brady is the 9th book in the Playmakers series, this is the first book I have read in this series but I will be going back to read the others as I really enjoyed this one. The story follows notorious hockey playboy Wyatt as he tries to make a comeback into his old team, and Serena, a PR professional who was previously responsible for cleaning up Wyatt’s messes. When Wyatt helps her out of a sticky situation and asks for a favour in return, the two end up developing an odd friendship. I really liked this book, I found the two main characters to be likable and felt myself wanting them to have a happy ending, I also hated a few of the supporting characters (in a good way) such as Wyatts mum and Serena’s slimy assistant that I found myself getting really engrossed into their predicaments. I hope that there are further books in this series so I can see them get their comeuppance.

I love this sports romance that gave me all the feels that I love with hockey, spicy romance, family drama, secrets and second chances. I was super excited to get my hands book and it definitely did not disappoint

Serena is a PR Rep for a hockey team..she worked so hard to get where she is at in her career….she is all business when it comes her PR skills and takes her job very seriously. When Serena finds herself in a bit of trouble one night, the one person who came to her rescue at first wished it was not Wyatt Tompkins.. she knows all about him and his off ice shenanigans..and they are not pretty.

Wyatt is a hot shot goalie for a professional hockey team..who is just totally about himself and his inflated ego. The feeling that everyone owes him….but when all of his off ice issues that become a PR nightmare, Wyatt is on the outside looking in and off the team. When Wyatt rescues Serena from an attacked, Wyatt is totally attached right from the beginning to Serena…..but as Wyatt and Serena get to know each other on all levels…..the sizzle happens….

Serena and Wyatt both battle different issues that keep happening. Wyatt battling his way back to playing hockey, keep a clean persona and battle a unruly mother…while Serena battles to keep her job daily over a belittling boss, his shady son and a sneaky assistant. Will Serena and Wyatt be able to stick together when things start falling apart when secrets come out?

Guarding the Crease (The Playmakers Series Hockey Romances Book 9) by G.K. Brady

Guarding the Crease is book nine of The Playmakers Series Hockey Romances. This is a Sports Romance/ Opposites Attract Romance that started out a bit slow and felt draggy in places but once I got about three chapters in things started to get better. I’ve read several other books by this author but I think I’ve missed a couple in this series. I’m definitely going to check out which ones I’ve not read. Wyatt is kind of a jerk at times and I really didn’t care much for him at first . He definitely grew on me. Serena came across kind of snobbish to me at first but the more I read it started to make sense why she came across that way. Wyatt is in self destruction mode and Serena works PR for his ex Hockey team. He is on a self journey of redemption and figuring out who he is and where he fits in. She finds herself in a situation and Wyatt comes to her rescue. Can she help him? These are completely the opposite of one another but can they move past it? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. If you like Sports Romance then this is definitely up your alley. I look forward to reading more from this Author.

What a sweet and adorable book. I am a sucker for any sports romance book, but tell me that it is hockey and I will trip you to get to the book first. Serena Lambert, is in a pickle, and not the dill kind. The one person who saves her is the one she cannot stand. Wyatt Tompkins needs Serena, in a way that is both irritating and necessary. Serena is the only one that can save his career. And he is not above playing some seriously dirty tricks to get his way.
This sweet book is the a great addition to the Playmakers Series. Lovers of sports romance, hockey, and fun whitty banter will adore this book. 4 out of 5 stars.

This book was phenomenal to read and so hard to put down. G.K. did a fantastic job with this book and developing a plot that sucks the reader in.

This book follows the stories of Wyatt and Serena. Wyatt was a player in the NHL as a goalkeeper. He enjoyed the perks that came along with being a pro athlete and a little too much and it cost him his spot on the roster. Now he wants back in more than anything and there is nothing he won’t do to make that happen.

Serena works in PR for a Hockey team. She loves her job and helping to connect players with the public to raise awareness for worthy causes. She was so excited when the bane and largest time suck of her career got released from the team she works with.

One night Serena and Wyatt run into each other in one of the most unique situations. Stubborn as a bull and with determination, Wyatt was not going to let this chance pass him by.

What happens when two determined people collide? Can someone really change in a few years or are they just a good actor? Can the stuck-up businesswoman stand a chance against a gorgeous and determined man?

Read this book to find out everything that happens with these two. The spicy that comes with this book is extra hot. Keep water close by and read in a cool room. Read to find out if they will mix together or forever be at odds.

Guarding the Crease is part of The Playmaker Series by G.K. Brady. I’ve enjoyed other playmakers books so I was excited for another. But this book can be easily read as a stand alone. Wyatt is honestly…. Terrible, a jerk, not someone you think you’ll like. It’s pretty known he uses who he is to his advantage. Serena is in PR for one of the high ranking hockey teams. And she just so happens to meet the one who is Wyatt on a night out. Though they are clearly attracted to one another, Serena isn’t so sure she can help his image, plus just because it’s her job, why should she want to? Except she owes him. And now it’s going to get messy. I enjoyed these two characters. The redemption was there and the chemistry between them was evident. Things could have moved a bit faster but overall I liked the book and hope there’s more!

Guarding the Crease (The Playmakers Series Hockey Romances Book 9) by G.K. Brady – Review by Beverly Finnie

Guarding the Crease (The Playmakers #9)Guarding the Crease by G.K. Brady
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Guarding the Crease was an enjoyable sports opposites attract romance. However I feel the bigger message the author projected was a man’s journey of finding himself. Growing up, seeing his awful actions through the eyes of others, and the acceptance and guilt that came with it.
Wyatt has fallen. He lost the job he loved, all because he couldn’t reign in his partying ways. It’s something that happens to a lot of athletes and celebrities, however now he will do whatever he can to get that dream back. His journey is eye opening in so many ways, and the author presented that beautifully.
Then there’s Serena, the PR rep for the CO hockey team. Who spent so much of her first so many years with the team, cleaning up Wyatt’s PR blunders and organizational blows. Now he’s back, which worries her. Worried she will be spending time cleaning up after him again. Crazy thing about all that is she has agreed to be his date for his brother’s wedding. Maybe it’ll make her job easier, by being there she could get ahead of an issue or so she thought.
What happens when she can tell he’s changing? That he’s starting to understand and embrace the turmoil he brought to the organization?
All that and so much more comes from this book.
If you’ve ever been in a place where you had to stop and look in the mirror, well you’ll understand what Wyatt is experiencing throughout this book.
I’ve always enjoyed sports romances, but I enjoy this book more due to Wyatt’s personal journey.

Guarding the Crease (The Playmakers #9)Guarding the Crease by G.K. Brady
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the 9th book in The Playmakers Series Hockey Romance. I jumped from the first book to the 9th but I expect I will be reading the books in between very soon.
Wyatt Tompkins was the goalie for the Colorado Blizzards, but recently became a free agent which isn’t where he wants to be. Serena is the PR director for the Blizzards and isn’t a fan of Wyatt at all. That is until Serena is attacked and Wyatt comes to her rescue. What will this mean for their future?
Another great book by the author. Wonderful characters and world building. Thank you for writing about Wyatt, I wasn’t sure about his character in the beginning but he turned things around!

Taming Beckett (The Playmakers Series Hockey Romances Book 1) by G.K. Brady – Review by Betsy Melano

Taming Beckett (The Playmakers, #1)Taming Beckett by G.K. Brady
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first book in The Playmakers Series Hockey Romance. The author is new to me and I really enjoyed reading the book. Beckett and Paige met while they were in college. Beckett graduated and moved right into being a NHL hockey player. Soon he began making bad decisions. As the years go by, he’s finding that life isn’t turning out the way he expected. After graduating from college, Paige has started up her own company working on flipping houses. When Beckett and Paige meet unexpectedly, he doesn’t exactly remember her. That’s just fine with Paige but soon things seem to change.
The author did a wonderful job world building and character development.

Fresh take on an enemies to lovers story! I love that the change was gradual. It made it seem way more plausible and realistic. The flow of the story really worked and kept me guessing what the outcome would be. Now to go back and read the others in the series!
