Delicious Death (Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries #2)Delicious Death by Byrd Nash
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Mystery, crime fighting, and a medium with enough spunk to do it all – this book encompasses just about everything. Acting as the second installment, the reader follows along as a satisfying new change of pace and location are reached as well as a slow-embered burn of a romance takes flame.

Ghosts and mourning, grief and acceptance, overall this book was a good pace and a fun read.

This novel is a suspenseful, entertaining plot twisting story. The details are exquisitely complex and I thoroughly enjoyed solving the crime next to our heroine, Elinor. If you like mysteriously intricate tales; this amazingly fun and yet dark novel is for you. The storyline is wonderfully detailed with amazing characters. I can’t wait to dive right in to the next one.

Ghost Talker (Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries #1)Ghost Talker by Byrd Nash
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ghost Talker is a fast-paced novella but by no means lacks intrigue and action.
I love the genres which this story includes fantasy (paranormal), historical, crime and romance so this was right up my alley! The combination was woven together very well, and the elements felt perfectly balanced – they complimented each other throughout the story. I was initially concerned that it may have felt thrown together without much thought, but as my first introduction to this author’s abilities, it is safe to say she has quickly found her place on my favourites list. It was clear that the combination of genres, events and characters were used with a purpose in mind, and all came together to create an enjoyable and gripping adventure.
The way that the characters bounce off each other and each have their distinct personalities alongside the descriptive way they are portrayed make falling in love with the characters (and the world they inhabit) so easy. I especially love Elinor’s independence and I wish I had even half of her self-confidence!
I can’t wait for the rest of the series and hope to learn more about Elinor, but I especially wish to learn more about the events of the Duke of Archambeau’s past as the series progresses.

This is the second book of Madame Chalamet and let me say I was not disappointed! I loved that this time Elinor is supposed to be on vacation to attend the Winter Revel with her friend Charlotte but she seems to be unable to stay out of trouble. When the king falls ill from mysterious circumstances, Elinor takes it upon herself to figure out who is the true culprit. Not to mention she helps the living with spirits of the dead holding on or vice versa. I am a true foodie at heart and loved the descriptions of all the courses of food from the top chefs’ competition. I can’t wait to read the next installment of Ghost Mysteries.

This book helps to introduce the main character Madame Chalamet for this six-part novella series. The time period reminds me of Bridgeton where there are lords and ladies, castles, and dinner parties. The way that Madame Chalamet communicates to the dead is clearly explained at the beginning of the series and more pieces throughout. With a recently deceased body, she is able to grasp key information for the police. Due to the sensitive nature of the case the duke de Archambeau, Tristan Fontaine decides that she must remain at his residence until the case is solved. The twists and turns of the case are fun and made me unable to put the book down. There is still the underlying mystery of who killed her father to figure out but she is able to get another step closer by the end of the book.

The second book in the Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries set, fully composed of six books. Elinor Chalamet, crime fighting medium, returns for another round of ghost banter and mischief. I would recommend reading book 1 (Ghost Talker) before this one, as it builds on previous character development and helps to establish the momentum into Delicious Death. I really enjoyed that the story continues, but is not dragged out extensively. We find ourselves in a new location with a whole different array of ghosts and characters, and of course dilemmas to deal with! I did find this book to be a change of pace from book one, and a LITTLE slower, but still a fast and easy read that I highly enjoyed. Byrd Nash knows how to engage the reader and keep the pages turning, and I am looking forward to the next one.

This is book two in the Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries by Byrd Nash. The author most definitely did not disappoint. I absolutely loved every aspect of this book, the characters are so easily to fall in love with, and the main plot is excellently woven, with a great complimented sub-plot. Madame Chalamet has been invited to The Winter Revels, a royal arts and skills competition the King throws every year, this year the main competition is cooking. In attendance is most of the nobility and a few commoners, including Mysir de Archambeau. Competing in the competition is her favorite Chef from the Crown Hotel. Madame Chalamet and Dr. LaRue have already found trouble before they even step off the train and they must absolutely help Lady Tulip Langenberg. An attempt on the King’s life makes for an interesting mystery; who in a house full of people want the King dead? Both Mysir de Archambeau and Madame Chalamet must get to the bottom of the assassination attempt, while Madame Chalamet is balancing trying to help Lady Tulip, and also has been called upon to help an older Widow let go of her husband who has been dead for five years. Will they be able to help everyone who needs their attention? What if they cannot uncover who tried to kill the King? Will the person try again? On top of these mysteries, the relationship between Madame Chalamet and the Duke is strengthening and seems to be more than platonic, at least I hope it will be! Cannot wait till I can read book three!

In the second book of the Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries, Elinor has not been very busy since the first book. But that doesn’t diminish the story at all but actually enhances it by adding a new ghost, we learn a bit more about Elinor and her friends/acquaintances, and of course more about her search. I couldn’t stop reading and finished it within a day and a half.

This is the first book in the Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries. The author writes wonderfully and gets you hooked on learning about Madame Elinor Chalamet who has been studying to become a medium. She has a personal reason to study this, to find out who killed her father. While on this quest, she is helping the police whenever she can.

Although this book is a novella, it keeps your attention with suspense, romance, and a strong woman character in Elinor. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to the rest of the books in the series.

This book was very enjoyable to read. It is what I would describe as a Cozy Paranormal. Even with this book being cozy paranormal for me, it also included that bit of a mystery with Elinor Chalamet trying to discover the mystery of a widow and her long-since-deceased husband. I also quite enjoyed the banter and budding romance between Elinor and the Duke. Something that made me like this book almost instantly was the main character herself; Elinor. Elinor is who sees these ghosts, and I was immediately drawn to her wit and independent nature. I also enjoyed the relationship between her and Dr. Charlotte. They are two peas-in-a-pod with how Elinor is a Medium, and Charlotte is Mortician. The prose are nicely done as well, had awesome dialogue, and is not a intense read. I was able to finish this in two days. Highly recommend if you are looking for a light, witty, and humorous read about the after life ,with an independent female main character in the 1800s of a London-like- society.

Ghost Talker: Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries Volume 1 by Byrd Nash – Review by Roxsanne Lesieur.

Ghost Talker (Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries #1)Ghost Talker by Byrd Nash
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Elinor Chalamet is a woman with an unusual talent, she is a Ghost Talker and can communicate with spirits so that they can pass through to the afterlife, but she also uses her talents to try and find her fathers killer, however, so far she has had little success. One day she receives a summons from the local morgue with a request for her aid with a body which has been found in the canal, however, when she arrives there, she is not expected by everyone and when she reveals what information she is able to, the Duke de Archambeaux, Tristan Fontaine is quite perturbed and insists on Elinor being escorted to his house where she will have to remain under house arrest.

Elinor is not impressed by this and so requests her belongings and her maid to be moved to his home, so that she can still undertake her work in a professional manner, the Duke is reluctant, but when she insists, he allows it, but only if he can vet her correspondence and clients first. This is not something Elinor is happy about, but she obliges and makes it as tedious for the Duke as possible, as it is very much entertaining for her to ruffle his feathers and put him in his place, however, this abrupt and outspoken attitude is not well received by the others living with the Duke.

As the investigation proceeds, Elinor is called upon to help, but as danger and intrigue surround her, will she be able to keep her head and not allow any antagonistic circumstances, or her budding attraction to the Duke de Archambeaux overwhelm her? This is a mystery where nothing is as it seems and the dark underbelly beneath the picturesque setting of Alenbonné is revealed.

I came across this book first and started reading it before realizing that this was book 2 in a series. From there I had to find book one just to read to see how my thoughts might be swayed and the impact it has on understanding the second book. Even though I did it backwards I was still able to follow the storyline and the author does a wonderful job with looping you in.

Elinor, our female medium, is a witty, take no prisoners type of person and definitely not one to let society tell her what she must do. So when she gets an invite to a royal feast she must accept after all she also loves to eat. Throw in an attempted murder, a ghost stalking her favorite chef, and the romantic tension between Elinor and Duke Tristan you have a witty masterpiece that anyone would fall in love with. Who will solve this dastardly royal murder attempt or will they end up in the crosshairs of the perpetrator?

This was a witty, humorous paranormal mystery read that will keep you flipping pages just to find out what happens next. Now onto downloading the others in this series so I can see what happens next.

Well, well, well a ghost story with suspense. Elinor Chalamet a crime fighting medium. She is not only independent but plays a strong role in this case. While things seem to be quiet around her, life gets boring. Getting an invitation from the King Guenard, she chooses to visit the King and the great cook off. Taking her friend Dr. Charlotte LaRue with her on the adventure. But things change quite quickly. Murder and mayhem keep this story going with its twists and turns. This is a new author for me. But I am very pleased I gave her a chance. Her fantasy ghost story with its action and suspense held my interest and was fun to read. I am looking forward to what happens next for Elinor.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I enjoyed Delicious Death. I think I may have enjoyed it more than book 1 in this series. The author brings us back to Alenbonne and into Madame Chalamet’s life. This time it seems to be a bigger adventure and a bigger mystery.
The resident Ghost Talker has been invited to The Winter Revels by the king. This season’s competition is among 6 chefs across the land. Of course Madame Chalamet feels Duke Archambeau is behind it. But what happens when all the fun and games turns serious. Someone poisoned the King and with all these people in the same place from high society as well as common, anyone could’ve done it.
Together and apart the Duke and Madame start an investigation to get to the bottom of it. Despite everything the push and pull between them, they make a great team. It could also be that the author is showing more chemistry between them within the writing.
I look forward to continuing on into this series!

Ghost Talker (Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries #1)Ghost Talker by Byrd Nash
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Ghost Talker was interesting. I struggled to get into it at first but the author wrote an interesting mystery with a supernatural element. I’m a sucker for the supernatural, books of fiction in this genre have always intrigued me. Ghost Talker was no different.
Madame Chalamet has been brought into an investigation that lands her in house arrest. All because of what the spirit revealed to her. Revealing who he was and what relations said person has, Duke Archambeau felt he needed to keep a close eye on her. Despite being present in the morgue of the spirit talking he still had his doubts about Madame Chalamet’s profession.
Forced to work together to solve the murder and keep the peace treaty signing in order, the Duke and Madame find as much as they frustrate one another they also entertain as well.
The mystery the author lays before you is different because ghosts are helping to lead the investigation. But that different element makes it stand out. Keeps the book in the reader’s mind even after they are done. Makes one look forward to more books in this series. As well as what could develop between the Madame and Duke.

Delicious Death (Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries Book 2) by Byrd Nash. This is such a fun book. I loved the first one so I knew I would enjoy this one as well. Its the story of Elinor who is a ghost talker in the 1800’s and her best friend is a doctor and a woman which is unheard of in that time. Both Elinor and her best friend are looked at as oddities in their time. Elinor is beside herself with excitement because she got an invitation to the Winter Revel’s where Chef’s compete. She is dreaming of all the food she is going to eat. During this event someone tries to kill her father, the King. The Duke who is sweet on Elinor helps her try to figure out who is trying to kill her father. When the prime suspect ends up being one of Elinor’s favorite chef’s she knows she has to prove his innocence. Will she find out who the real killer is before its too late? Elinor is invited to attend the king’s Winter Revels – where chefs compete for the king’s favor. She is thrilled to be attending because life has been a tad boring, and her favorite chef will be competing! Elinor brings her friend, Dr. LaRue, along so they can both enjoy good food and some relaxation. However, when the king is poisoned and there is trouble afoot, who better to help the king’s man, Duke Archambeau, solve the mystery than Elinor? Can they find the culprit before it’s too late?

This continuation of the series did not disappoint! I feel like I was drawn in even more to the mystery of Elinor and the duke! The other characters and their issues were well rounded and a fantastic addition to the story. I am truly enjoying this author’s work. They explain what is happening well enough that you do not feel inundated with information.

Elinor is a Ghost Talker in league with the Morpheus Group. She works with the local authorities and her friend, Dr. LaRue, who works in the morgue to solve murders. When a man related to the king winds up dead, a crown goes missing, and everything is hanging on both to be solved before it becomes a political nightmare… Elinor finds herself adding yet another accomplice to solve this mystery. The widowed Duke Archambeau is the king’s man, not one to look for help, and definitely NOT a believer in Ghost Talkers. However, as he finds himself in need of Elinor’s help, he can’t help but become a little intrigued by the whole ghost talking thing, as well as Elinor. Will they be able to solve the mystery before it causes political unrest? Can Elinor resist the lure of solving Duke Archambeau’s supposed ghost?

I really enjoyed this book. It was quick moving, well written, and I loved all the characters. I couldn’t help but love Elinor’s frankness with the duke, and how he just didn’t really know what to do with her. I like that they didn’t instantly fall in love, but all signs point to a slow building relationship. This is a fresh hearted and informative read. I am looking forward to reading the next installments of this series. I truly cannot wait to see how their relationship continues to grow!

I really enjoyed this book. I haven’t read the first one so I did feel like I was missing out on a little bit of the backstory, but it didn’t hinder the story at all. The characters were well developed and there was enough going on to add to the list of suspects in the mystery. I did not have it figured out until the culprit was revealed and was surprised. I enjoyed the spunkiness of Elizabeth and also like her commitment to her independence, especially in that era. I also like that her ability to see and communicate with ghosts wasn’t the only way she could solve a crime. It was an enjoyable read and I look forward to reading the next one (and the first one!). The pacing was good and I really didn’t feel that it bogged down anywhere. I really enjoyed it!

This gas lamp fantasy novella is number 2 of a 6 part series that mystery lovers will enjoy.

Mysterious deaths, Royal families, unknown motives, and a chef competition makes this a lively and endearing mystery.

Elinor is a strong main character that appears witty and charming. She’s also quite intelligent which comes through quite clearly throughout the story.

A little ghosts and intrigue makes for a good read. I look forward to reading the next novella in this series.

Byrd Nash delivers one more with the second book in the Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries Series, Delicious Death. The reader is taken to the time shortly after the first book. Madame Chalamet and Tristan Fontaine find themselves, again, at the center of a mystery and must work together to solve the crime. This book has a little less to do with ghosts than the first book, but there is still bits and pieces of that paranormal aspect. This second book includes all the drama, mystery, and suspense of the first book! I don’t think the reader necessarily needs to read the first book to understand this one, however, I think having a grasp on the characters introduced before helps the journey progress easier in Delicious Death. Overall, a great, fun read by Byrd Nash!

Byrd Nash is a first time author for me, but I was certainly not disappointed. As the first book in its series, Ghost Talker, introduces the reader to many characters, including Madame Elinor Chalamet and Tristan Fontaine. Chalamet is a medium and sleuth who works with the police in aiding death investigations, while Fontaine is a Duke in service to the king. All of the characters are so well-developed, realistic (especially to the time period), and personable. I found myself cheering when Chalamet triumphed and held my breath whenever there was a suspenseful bit. Ghost Talker is full of suspense, drama, ghosts, paranormal, and even a bit of slow-burn romance. I am moving directly to the second book in this series, because I can’t wait to continue!

Madame Chalamet is such a fantastic character! And her friend, the coroner in charge of the city morgue, Dr. Charlotte LaRue, is my favorite and so atypical of a female in the setting of this story! Back to Chalamet though. Chalamet is a trained medium who can see and speak to ghosts. She lives in a beautiful hotel and often helps Chef Pedersen with his dead boyfriend that creates quite the uproar in the kitchen. She was invited to the Winter Revels in Vouvant to be a guest during the food competition and tries to enjoy her vacation unfortunately it turns into work for her. The king has been poisoned and it’s up to her and the Duke to find the accused culprit while trying to rid a quest of the dead husband who cannot seem to leave the plane of the living. So much is going on and so much more happens in this great masterpiece of storytelling and mystery! No spoilers here so you must read the book!
I am such a huge fan of Madame Chalamet from just this one book! The writing is elegant and flows off the page! Easy to read and to find one’s self engaged with all the quirky characters. The storyline is well written and is so easy to just get lost in the times and events of the story. Definitely a must read as we follow along and solve the mystery behind the culprit who poisoned the king, how the dead husband storyline turns out and why did Chalamet bother to save a young woman from a lecherous man. Never a dull moment and one book you will be disappointed when it ends. I now have to read the other 5 books to follow along with Chalamet and her story!

Madame Chalamet continues her professional obligations as a ghost talker day and night in this second Ghost Mysteries novel. I love a series that picks up almost directly where the previous left off, and this one does not disappoint. Elinor Chalamet manages to snag an invitation from the King to a dining competition with the upper crust of nobility and brings along a plus one, her friend and confidant, Dr. Charlotte LaRue, coroner. While enjoying fine dining and the occasional conversation with the un-dead, Elinor and her previous acquaintance, the Duke de Archembeau, servant to the King, discover a plot to harm the King.

Byrd Nash has a knack for moving the plot along quickly while intertwining love affairs, tales of rebellion and clashes of nobility- I enjoyed the first book immensely, the second even more and eagerly look forward to reading the third!

This book is book 2 in the series, We follow Madame Elinor Chalamet, who is a ghost talker, as she attends the Winter Revels for the first time. She and her friend Dr. Charlotte LaRue are put into situations that most of us would run from. As I read, I felt like Elinor, didn’t really feel like she belonged there. There is a romantic feel throughout this book between Elinor and Tristan, (the Duke de Archambeau), do they get together? Read and find out. I will tell you once you start reading this book, you will not put it down until you have finished it.

I absolutely adore Elinor! We are now in book 2 of the Madame Chalamet Mysteries series, Delicious Death. When Elinor attends the King’s Winter Feast, someone makes an attempt at the King’s life. When the Duke thinks he can find the suspect first, Elinor along with her friend, Dr. Charlotte, tries to find out who the culprit is. This book had more of the wit and fun from the first book. We got to see more of the friendship between Dr. Charlotte and Elinor. We also see more of the slow-burn romance between Tristan and Elinor and the issues that their difference in status may cause. This is a well-written continuation of the series and is able to be read as a stand-alone story.
