Spirit Guide (Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries Book 3) by Byrd Nash – Review by Tara Johnson Barnes

Spirit Guide (Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries #3)Spirit Guide by Byrd Nash
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Spirit Guide is Book 3 in the Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries Series. Madame Elinor Chalamet is approached by the Duke de Archambeau, Tristan Fontaine, to help a nobleman find his missing daughter. This time Madame Chalamet has more help than she can handle with the nobleman, Tristan, and an annoying apprentice. The nobleman seems to be gruff and hard to deal with. Tristan instructs Elinor to be careful and insists on her not investigating the case alone. Madame Chalamet’s young apprentice only adds extra stress because she seems reluctant to follow instructions. Matters only intensify when their investigation leads Elinor to her beloved Morpheus Society. Now she must determine if the Society is involved and if so, to what extent.

Book three follows with the relationship between Madame Elinor Chalamet and the Duke de Archambeau, Tristan Fontaine so I recommend reading the first two books. Their relationship is a bit complicated and it seems that there was a spark between them that started when they first met. Yet, neither Elinor nor Tristan seems to know what exactly their relationship is or if it will become more than what it is. Elinor is frustrated because Tristan seems to be attracted to her one minute but then practically shuns her the next. Their relationship started to unfold a bit more in this story and Tristan showed Elinor that he cared through his actions and wanting her to stay safe.

The characters are wonderful and it is easy to root for them. Elinor Chalamet is both a fantastic medium and detective. She is smart, strong, feisty, determined, headstrong, and hits the scariest of challenges head on. Tristan Fontaine is charismatic yet seems aloof and almost comes across as cold at first. In this story his character developed a bit more and we were able to see that his attitude and behavior are more like coping mechanisms. His heart has been scarred from a tragedy in his past and he is still trying to work through the demons of that painful past. Madame Chalamet’s new apprentice, Twyla, seems like a bumbling little twit who has no desire to listen to anyone and is determined to do things her own way. As the story unfolds it becomes clear that she has talents that she has kept well hidden out of fear of the trouble it may cause her. Those hidden talents come in handy for Elinor in this investigation.

I really enjoyed this storyline and the intensified paranormal aspect with the realms between the living and the dead. The involvement of the Morpheus Society was an intriguing twist to the story that added an extra layer of intensity and a layer of possible corruption from within the Society. The storyline kept me hooked to the end and contained a few twists and turns that kept me reading to the end. I highly recommend!

The third book, Spirit Guide, did not disappoint. As always the action begins right away sucking you in. This time girls are going missing. Elenor has been contracted by the Duke’s friend in order to find his missing daughter. When she starts unraveling the threads of the case she realizes how close it hits to home with the death of her father. The case itself is interesting and the added suspense of her father’s death and her secret love for the Duke keeps me coming back for more.

This book had so many twists and turns in it that it really kept me intrigued to keep reading and finding out what was going to happen next, and of curse the little bit of romance thrown in really made for an all-around wonderful read. this is a Gaslamp fantasy historical series is absolutely amazing, filled with ghosts, history, seances, kidnapping and so much more. Elinor and Tristan have an amazing relationship and it was great to see how it was progressing and growing in the book. The mystery behind who and what Twyla is up too was very interesting to read and find out if she was a friend or foe. This book was very good and highly suggest to start at the beginning.

I love this series, and I can’t wait till the next book comes out! The author brings us back to the ghost talking world Spirit Guide. A world I have fallen in love with. A world where ghosts are very present. A world where one woman uses her Ghost Talker talents to help solve mysteries and murder. Oh yeah with some attraction and tension thrown in.
Madame Chalamet is back but with an apprentice in tow. One of the regulations of The Morpheus Society, is they have to take on at least one apprentice every 10 years to remain a member. Unfortunately it’s that very society that she will be going head to head with in this book. Parnell Lafayette is no friend and is now the head of the society, so any way he can ruffle Elinor’s feathers he will do just that. Hence her apprentice Twyla. What she didn’t expect was Archambeau to show back up in her life unexpectedly with a case he needed assistance on. Especially since he kind of “ghosted” her. Elinor and Tristan have tension between them that comes to head about midway through, however her feelings towards his action don’t stop her from trying to locate the missing Lady Losendahl.
I love Elinor and Tristan, but the question is do they finally do something about the tension between them? The dynamic they have working together is great but there’s so much more to explore between them.
How is The Morpheus Society involved?
What are these ghost parties people are talking about?
Trust me when I say it won’t be exactly what you think. Which is why you need to read book 3! If you haven’t read any of them, you can still jump in each book on their own. However there are elements that cross over from book to book, which is why I advise starting with book 1.
So what are you waiting for?
Me, I’m waiting for book 4, read and join me on that wagon.

Still on the hunt for her father’s killer, Elinor Chalamet and the Duke de Archambeau, Tristan Fontaine work together to solve the mystery of who is behind the kidnapping of a noblewoman’s daughter.

I love this series. It gives me a Sherlock Holmes type mystery and vibe with a supernatural twist. The slow burn romance is also an aspect that is well written.

I love Elinor’s character. Even when someone tells her not to do something, she still does it. It is really interesting seeing her communicate with ghosts such as when she takes in the grief of the ghost she is talking to. Thinking it over, as a medium it does make sense that she would.

I read that there will be more novels released this year. I can’t wait to read them.

This is another fantastic addition to this series and I think it has to be my favourite so far. With each new book I have no trouble at all slipping straight back into this world and these characters. I really enjoyed this story. It was easy to engage with and I became hooked on what was happening. So much seems to go on in this book and I was completely swept along for the ride.
These characters are still ones I really enjoy reading about. Their development over the series so far has been amazing to watch and with each new book I feel like we learn something new. I really hope this series continues on for many more books and I cannot wait to read them.

The third book in the Madame Chalamet series is even better than the first two! I have a read a few books by this author now and am getting more and more impressed at the attention to detail he shows, specifically surrounding the mystery the main characters are solving in the books. I’ve really enjoyed the slow-burning romance between her and Tristan Fontaine, the other main character, during the series, and am eager to see what lies in store for them in the future. I loved learning more about her past and see her continue to try to solve her father’s murder in addition to the main plot line. Excited to read more of the series, and highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys Sherlock Holmes!

Another entertaining and spooky installment of the Madame Chalamet Mysteries! This is truly my favorite mystery series in a long time! Things just keep getting more intense with every book and volume Three Spirit Guide is my favorite so far! Not just the feelings between Tristan and Elinor but with what we learn about The Morpheus Society and possibly Elinor’s fathers killer! I cannot wait to get my hands on the fourth book in this addicting gaslamp fantasy series, Grey Lady! Byrd Nash had me on the edge of my seat! Spirit Guide was a quick paced and fun read! You can really feel Tristan and Elinor’s pent up attraction to one another and it feels genuine. I highly recommend this series to any mystery lover who enjoys when the ghosts are real! I also recommend starting with book One, Ghost Talker, to truly experience Madame Elinor Chalamet and Duke de Archambeau/Tristan Fontaine’s journey from the beginning!

Elinor Chalamet is BACK and has a pesky apprentice to boot! After not hearing from the Duke de Archambeau for months, he suddenly reappears with a request for help from Elinor. His friend’s daughter has disappeared, and the man is adamant that the Morpheus Society is to blame. Seeing as how this is the very institution that helped Elinor hone her skills, she feels obligated to investigate. As she digs deeper into the mystery, she discovers that her annoying apprentice, Twyla, is skilled in getting into The Beyond. With the stakes high, the duke adds a kiss to the mix to have Elinor questioning his high handedness with how she is working the case. Will she finally get answers from him about how he feels towards her? Will she be able to find the missing daughter before it is too late?

I thoroughly enjoy this series. Elinor is such a fun character! She has so many questions and you think she’s going to get the answers but for every one answered, it seems like 4 more pop up. I felt bad for her for not getting all of the answers she was looking for but also encouraged because she deserves some happiness. While she isn’t thrilled with having an apprentice, I can see how she is going to mold her into someone that will be an asset to her growing team of mystery solvers. Can’t wait for the next book!!

Spirit Guide, the third book in the Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries Series, is full of the same witty humor, suspense, mystery, and drama as the first two books. The slow-burn romance between Elinor and Tristan becomes a point of gossip for Elinor’s new apprentice, Twyla, and her maid, Anne-Marie. Elinor finds herself battling a familiar foe from her early days with the Morpheus Society. This was a very quick read, but still involved the same great world-building as the previous books. I fell a little more in love with all of the characters that Byrd Nash has brought to life. She is becoming a favorite author of mine!

I was so excited to read the third book in the Ghost Mysteries series and it is just making me want to be able to read the rest of the series so I can see how it ends! The description of the slow burn romance is a completely accurate description of the relationship between Elinor and Tristan Fontaine, Duke of Archambeau. Tristan is an amazing brooding hero who is clearly attracted to Elinor, but appears to be doing his best to fight his attraction. The story line in this book was riveting; getting to see her new apprentice Twyla in action was fantastic. Getting to see Elinor as a mentor and helping to shape Twyla into a better ghost talker, was so interesting to see. As always it was great getting to see Dr. Charlotte LaRue, I love how she is always just so calm and helpful. It was great getting to see how Elinor’s side mystery of the murder of her father continues to progress. I can’t wait for the rest of the series to come out!

This is the third book in this series, Elinor and Tristan the  Duke of de Archambeau band together to discover who is behind a lady’s disappearance. There is a third person added to this duo, her name is Twyla (she is Elinor’s newly appointed apprentice). The three of them are off to find the Baron’s missing daughter and find others as well. Elinor and Tristan’s relationship is started to go somewhere maybe?? Elinor is also still trying to find her father’s killer in this book. I really wish I had read book 1 because I feel like I am missing a big part of Elinor’s story. With that being said, I plan on reading book 1 soon.

I absolutely love this series by Byrd Nash. It is such a lighthearted story, but immediately grabs your attention and doesn’t let go! I read this book in one sitting! This is the 3rd book in the series “Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries” and personally this one has been my favorite so far! It went into a deeper explanation of exactly what the Morpheus Society and what they actually teach their students. The smaller plot with the romance with the duke of Archambeau kept me on the edge, wondering exactly what Madame Chalamet was feeling towards their relationship. I also enjoyed the banter between Madame Chalamet and her new apprentice, it showed a different side of Mys Chalamet and how she interacts with people. I cannot wait until book 4 is released and I can continue reading about their mysterious adventures and the relationship between the duke and Mys Chalamet.

Spirit Guide is the third book in the Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries series. Let’s start by saying to read the first two books before grabbing this book. Madame Elinor Chalamet and the Duke of de Archambeau are trying to find a missing woman. Little do they know there is more involved than they realize. Chalamet has to go against an old nemesis, and Archambeau is right by her side. I really enjoy this series and the characters. Also, the slow-burn relationship brewing between Archambeau and Chalamet is growing. If you like historical fiction with a bit of supernatural, a spunky female lead, and a challenging male lead, this series is for you. I anxiously await the next book, but I will be thinking about what adventures Chalamet and Archambeau will be involved in next.

Spirit Guide is the third book in the Gaslamp fantasy historical series Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries. I have enjoyed everything I have read by this talented author and the stories keep on getting better. I think this is my favourite to date.
Elinor our ghost-talking super sleuth and Tristan are at it again but when an old rival is involved things get tricky and possibly deadly when Elinor disappears. Where are the missing girls? Is the Society up to something are they hiding something? To find out you will have to read for yourself.
This tale has a little of everything to indulge the reader. It is mysterious and intriguing, with a slow burn romance, ghosts, history, séances, kidnappings and so much more.
Who doesn’t love ghostly whodunit’s? I can’t wait for the next instalment.

Spirit Guide is the third book in the Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries series by Byrd Nash. This brings us another intriguing instalment in this captivating Gaslamp fantasy series. It is a paranormal cozy mystery with crime & investigation, sleuthing, ghosts, history, a moody atmosphere, intrigue, adventure, some humour, witty dialogue, slow-burn romance, dramatic developments, and interesting characters.
I have loved this series from the beginning, so there was never any doubt that I would be reading this new instalment as soon as it released.
Elinor Chalamet uses her mediumship skills to help solve puzzling mysteries. This instalment builds on the previous two books, providing a bigger picture as the mystery unfolds- also learning a lot more about Elinore along the way.
Our female ‘Sherlock Holmes’ is on the case tackling a mystery with:
Missing girls.
A mysterious séance.
Ghosts that become ‘real’.
A bumbling apprentice.
Secrets.
And a connection to her past.
It all leads to an intriguing, cleverly woven, fun little historical whodunnit mystery.
As with the other two books, it is fresh, and fun- with a period setting, wonderful characters, and a moody feel- which gives the whole story added intrigue.
This is a six-part novella series (with 3 more book yet to come):
The series consists of:
-Ghost Talker (Book #1)
-Delicious Death (Book #2)
-Spirit Guide (Book #3)
-Gray Lady (Book #4) – still to be released
-Underground Haunt (Book #5) – still to be released
-Ghastly Mistake (Book #6) – still to be released
I am looking forward to seeing what Elinor gets up to in the next book/s.
Bring on Book #4!
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Byrd Nash!

Elinor had her handfuls with the mystery and Twyla, who still has a lot to learn. I love how we get to learn a little more about Elinor and the Morpheus Society with each book. Delicious Death (Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries Book 2) by Byrd Nash – Review by Jamie Burns

Delicious Death is the second book in a six part novella series called Madame Chalamet by Byrd Nash. This book took me back to my roots of loving mysteries! Nash has created a wonderful series so far with captivating characters that readers love. Elinor is by far my newest favorite sleuth-ghost whisperer- who is balancing the food competition and trying to help a lady in distress. One cannot forget that there’s an assassin who is out to cause harm. Nash has a wonderful knack for keeping the reader at the edge of their seat in anticipation about what will happen next. I am looking forward to reading the third book in this series.

Sadly, I had to read the 2nd part of Byrd Nash’s novel. I have to say this is different from my other likes of mystery and murder crimes. Elinor is a medium who finally took a break from solving crime and ended up with another solving crime in which a King is a target. Funny is that the chef is the one that is the problem and using food to kill the King.
I recommended this to my teen kids who love to a good mystery book.

The second book in the Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries set, fully composed of six books. Elinor Chalamet, crime fighting medium, returns for another round of ghost banter and mischief. I would recommend reading book 1 (Ghost Talker) before this one, as it builds on previous character development and helps to establish the momentum into Delicious Death. I really enjoyed that the story continues, but is not dragged out extensively. We find ourselves in a new location with a whole different array of ghosts and characters, and of course dilemmas to deal with! I did find this book to be a change of pace from book one, and a LITTLE slower, but still a fast and easy read that I highly enjoyed. Byrd Nash knows how to engage the reader and keep the pages turning, and I am looking forward to the next one.

I have loved Byrd Nash. I make sure I follow her books. This story has a strong female central lead, it is always enjoyable when an author projects a strong female lead in 1800s with eccentric qualities. Elinor has a penchant towards ghost talking. She befriends another eccentric woman , who is a doctor. In the winter feast. There is an attempt to murder the king. There is a duke who is equally interested in solving this mystery. The forbidden romance brews between Elinor and the Duke. Social restrictions follow.
What not to like about it, nothing . Overall a very enjoyable read.

She’s being kept busy with other paranormal happenings as well but she is determined to find who is behind the plot against the king. The pace of this book was a little quick, however it never makes you feel like you’re missing out on any part of the story. The author does a great job building onto the story and the characters from the first installment. If you like paranormal crime and mystery this would be a great book to read.

Ghost Talker (Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries Book 1) by Byrd Nash – Review by Donya Pedigo

Ghost Talker (Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries #1)Ghost Talker by Byrd Nash
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

In this first book, our main character, Madame Elinor Chalamet, is determined to find her father’s killer. It was this goal that led her to be trained as a medium by the elite Morpheus Society. Now she helps others as a female Sherlock Holmes type, while also trying to find leads about her father.

Our main male character is Tristan Fontaine, Duke de Archambeau. He often takes pleasure in denouncing frauds who claim to have medium abilities, and he has Elinor in his sites. Will he prove that she is indeed a fraud or will Elinor show him her skills are in fact real?

I love a snarky, strong heroine and Elinor definitely is that. The adventures, romance, humor, and amazing descriptions all add greatly to this quick read. If you think a female Sherlock who also may or may not be a REAL medium is your kind of story, then you should definitely pick this up. I honestly can’t wait to read more as this story kept me turning the pages.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This paranormal mystery starts off with Madame Elinor Chalamet, our fmc from book one, wanting a little excitement as she’s been bored since her last case. Just as luck would have it, she receives an invitation from King Guenard for the Winter Revels. What starts off as a fun escape from the lackluster daily hum drum turns into yet another mystery to be solved as she finds out the King is being targeted. Tristan Fontaine, Duke de Archambeau, is determined to solve the case before Elinor. It’s through this competition of sorts we get to continue to see their sarcastic, snarky, and often humorous banter. We also get to see as feelings blossom between the two.

Byrd Nash has done it yet again. Her descriptive writing, amazing mystery plot twists, and humorous banter between characters has me wanting more. I love a strong, smart, snarky female main character and this series has just that in Elinor. Elinor often reminds me of a historical type, Charlie from Daryanda Jones’ First Grave series, as she solves cases, talks to ghosts, and is fine being alone despite starting to crush on a man. This is a fantastic series that has just gotten better in this second book. I honestly can’t wait to read more!

Many stories fold during the competition which makes for a great read! I really did love the drama and mystery that was brought into this book. I can’t wait for the next book! 🙂
