Girl Trap (A Madeline Dawkins Mystery Book 3) by Cynthia Hamilton – Review by Shannon Fowler

Madeline Dawkins adventures….are never dull! And Girl Trap…wow! Probably my favorite so far. Some serious subjects covered in this story. Book three is a must read! But only after reading books 1 and 2!

Hamilton dives into a touchy subject, one that the real world is unbelievably discovering as well. Several girls have gone missing. Not all of the cases are the same, however there is more to it than meets the eye. Madeline and Mike have to use their MDPI skills during this story. They will have to go at it alone, as well, since this time there are so many situations arising and in different cities. Hamilton again has given us a story like no other. The adventure that Mike and Maddie take to solve their mysteries keeps you turning the pages.

I can recommend this story to the readers that like a little mystery mixed with a little action to keep you on your toes.

Girl Trap (A Madeline Dawkins Mystery Book 3) by Cynthia Hamilton

5-Stars

Girl Trap is an exciting and fun read. The author immediately pulled me in from page one with Madeline’s flash back. It was gripping. I could not put this book down after that. This is the second book I have read by this author and it is the third book of its series. It can be read as a standalone. I really enjoyed how easy the storyline was to follow as well as all the action and suspense. The author had excellent character development for all main characters and supporting characters. I highly recommend this novel and will definitely be reading more from her in the future.

GIRL TRAP is the third installment in the “Madeline Dawkins Mystery” series. I think this is a series that should be read in order. There are vital details from the previous stories that are mentioned within the first few paragraphs.

GIRL TRAP is two stories woven into one book. The author writes very detailed scenes and I often found myself reading only the first sentence in each paragraph. There are twists and turns and some obvious directions and results.

I would have rated this a 3.5 star but the last two pages intrigued me enough that I will continue with the series.

Another wonderful, suspenseful read by this talented author. As soon as I started reading this story I couldn’t put it down, I found myself turning pages quickly to find out what was going to happen next. I really liked the fact that both Mike and Madeline had their own case to work on this time but I also feel torn because I think they are better together. I have really become invested in these two characters and love reading about mysteries they solve and the trouble they find themselves in along the way. I highly recommend this book.

Girl Trap by Cynthia Hamilton is the third book in the Madeline Dawkins series. Madeline and her partner Mike are working two different cases. Are they somehow related?
I have enjoyed this series and think it improves with every book as the characters grow and evolve. I really like the changes Madeline has had since the first book. I recommend reading these in order because there are elements that carry over from book to book. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Girl Trap (A Madeline Dawkins Mystery Book 3) by Cynthia Hamilton. This is the 3rd installment of the Madeline Dawkins series and it doesn’t disappoint. Madeline a party planner and private investigator thinks things are rocking along same as ever when she gets 2 inquiries on the same day for a fairly normal missing persons case. But there is nothing normal about either of these cases. Two beautiful sisters are missing from Minnesota, one is an estranged heiress who has never touched her 8 figure fortune. More than enough reason for someone to kidnap her. When Mike Delaney, Madeline’s love interest and business partner heads to LA to search for his cousin’s missing girlfriend he finds out this case is a lot more than what it seems. Its downright dangerous. Will Mike and Madeline make it out of this case alive and with the 2 missing women or will the case finally be their last? I love these books and this one was no exception!

Girl Trap (Madeline Dawkins #3) by Cynthia Hamilton was a gripping suspenseful read that kept me reading.

The third book in this series, I was excited to get my hands on it. Now this is a continuation series, so I highly suggest reading the other two books or you will not be able to get the full impact of this story.

Going into this book I think I might have set the bar a little too high, as I very much enjoyed the other two books, but I found this one was a little off. Right away I got that feeling, there was a little back tracking with the character development, and well, at this point in the of story the MC should be solidified, and we should be seeing the results. It wasn’t like that for the whole book, as the second half was pretty great, it just felt like there was two stories in one. I also found that there was some filler, and over explaining that made the flow dull and a little, meh.

Outside of this, this book still had the same suspenseful feelings as the other two. The main detail was on point, and pulls you in. The overall plot is pulling, gripping and has you second guessing some details, making it fun and engaging. This book has a lot of potential, and I think it just needs some polish, and a little more direction, to make it pop like the other two. I will warn you this books does end on a sort of cliff hanger, so I am excited that there’s going to be another book.

So with all that said, this wasn’t a bad read and I did quite enjoy it. It was just lacking a little, and frankly I think it was more a bridge to get to that forth book. So to end, this books gets my recommendation and my stamp of approval.

Happy Reading

Girl Trap (A Madeline Dawkins Mystery Book 3) by Cynthia Hamilton is a four star novel. This is the third novel in the series and I have loved getting to know the character of Madeline Dawkins. Madeline is an event planner and a private eye. Such a weird combination, but it works for her. This novel touches on some very real and traumatizing material such as sex trafficking. I love that the author was not afraid to publish this novel with this raw material in it because people need to be more aware that these kinds of horrors are happening and how to help stop them. I also love how raw the character of Madeline is. She is real and someone you can relate to. Sometimes authors put characters in books that are hard to relate to because of too much good or too much bad happening to them but Madeline isn’t like that.

Girl Trap (A Madeline Dawkins Mystery Book 3) by Cynthia Hamilton is part of a series that is a must read in your summer “To Read” collection. Each book in this series adds additional depth and dynamic to Madeline and the mysterious events that embark within her life. This story may be longer than some, but at the same time it makes for a solid read that will keep your mind engaged giving more than some of the shorter mysteries that are out there. Prior to this series, I hadn’t previously read a book by this author and she has absolutely brought a new appreciation to this genre which is not normally my cup of tea. Girl Trap was a great read as Madeline and Mike’s journeys take them in directions unexpected.

Girl Trap by Cynthia Hamilton is the third book by Madeline Dawkins. I recommend reading this series in order to get the full back story with Madeline and Mike. I have been in pulled into this world and feel like Madeline and Mike are my friends and I will do anything for them. Madeline really finds herself in a bind. She found herself into two different cases, one is sex trafficking and the other a missing person. There are some wild twists and turns that keep you on your toes. Cynthia Hamilton does an amazing job with painting the picture with her descriptive writing skills. I cannot wait to see what else is in store for Madeline in the future.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Girl Trap by Cynthia Hamilton was a book that was written well. I liked the plot, the suspense was insane and the book kept me mostly interested. There was to much going on at once. I felt the book was a lot for one book. Mike and Madeline were in 2 different places and it kept going back and forth every other chapter was about the other person. They were working two totally different cases so I feel like, going back and forth was pointless. I was more interested in Mike’s case but just when I thought I was going to get something good, the next chapter was about Madeline. Maybe this could’ve been two different books? Not sure! With that being said, I can’t believe what Madeline uncovered and Mike…..he’s good!!! I liked the characters as they were characters from previous books but there were quite a few others too.
Will there be a happy ending insight for all involved? Can Mike and Madeline both solve the cases they have or do they work better as a team?

I continue to enjoy this series from Hamilton and found the third installment to be a perfect summer vacation mystery. The heroine is best understood if the previous series books are read but this book can be read on its own. I found the characters continued to be engaging as in previous books and the plot kept me entertained from beginning to end. I look forward to seeing where the series takes me next!

I have absolutely become obsessed with Cynthia Hamilton’s Madeline Dawkins mysteries. Girl Trap is the third installment, and I would highly suggest that you read the previous two books in the series prior to this one for the best enjoyment and understanding. They are the best poolside reads though so perfect to slip in the beach bag and devour while soaking up some sun. Madeline is the type of character that I find myself wanting to be like and following her growth as a person and in her profession truly make these books multidimensional and completely fabulous.

Girl Trap finds Madeline and Mike twisted up in two dangerous and high stakes cases. The two and the team struggle with these and find themselves often working against each other and split. Both of them are looking for missing persons, will they be able to find them alive and well? Can they figure out how to work together in the end? You won’t find much more as far as details here, I couldn’t bear to spoil any of this delicious novel for you. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next installment, hopefully soon!

Girl Trap was another enjoyable read from Cynthia Hamilton. I really like this authors writing style, I find that I am easily pulled into her stories, they have a great flow and pace and the characters are really interesting to read about. I really like Madeline, I feel like I am right there with her in the story at times working alongside her trying to solve the cases that she has. I think that her and Mike make a great team, they both work hard and won’t give in until they have solved what they need to. I enjoyed seeing them work separately as well as together in this story! There were some good twists and turns in this story, a good amount of suspense and mystery running throughout the story that had me turning the pages to see what was going to happen next.
I am definitely looking forward to reading more from this author again in the future.

Girl Trap by Cynthia Hamilton is a novel belonging to the Madeline Dawkins Mystery series. This third in the series this book is every bit as interesting and fast paced as the previous two.
The author has created yet another story full of twists and turns. It is the type of book that keeps the pages turning. You just have to find out what is going to happen. And I know a lot of people aren’t a fan “unfinished” endings but I really enjoyed knowing there will be more to come from this series and these characters.
With each book I read the more attached I grow to Madeline. She makes a great one off character but an even better series character. You can really see her character development through the three books and I can’t wait to see what is next in store for her.

I enjoyed this book and her ability to pull me right into the story right from the beginning. Her story is creative, well written and engaging. The twists and turns that she took me on had me sitting on the edge of my seat for parts of the book. Madeline and her partner, Mike are my favorite, they bring the story to life for me. In this book, she finds herself in the middle of two cases, sex trafficing and a missing person. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next.

5 out of 5 stars

The story Girl Trap (A Madeline Dawkins Mystery Book 3) by Cynthia Hamilton is the next exciting and amazing book in a series that I have loved since reading the first one. The author really knocks it out of the park with both the storyline and the characters. It is a book that once I started, I couldn’t put it down. I love reading about Madeline and her partner Mike Delaney. Madeline is an intelligent, independent, determined woman. Mike is a man who is resourceful. They believe that each of them are on a case to find those who are missing. Little do they know that all is not as it seems to be. What does the future hold for Mike and Madelina’s cases? Will they find the missing that they seek? Read this book to find out. This story has suspense, mystery, and danger. It is a story that didn’t let me go until I had read the final page. The author does an amazing job of making the book and characters come alive and I felt like I was right there with Mike and Madeline. There are intense moments and dialogue. I love how Madeline is so methodical when working a case and has learned to trust her instincts. Once Mike is on a case, he doesn’t stop until he finds out the truth. They are both characters I would love to have as a friend. I enjoyed reading about how the additional characters fit into the story and the part that they played. Don’t miss out on the next amazing story that will keep you guessing. Highly recommended.

Girl Trap (A Madeline Dawkins Mystery Book 3) by Cynthia Hamilton is another exciting book in this series. This book should not be read as a standalone as you will miss out on the back stories and how are characters came to where they are. Cynthia has done a great job of suspense and thrills and chills and weaving a story that has become addicting. We once again see Madeline and Mike trying to put the past behind them and move forward with their new Event and PI businesses but inevitably the past keeps coming back to haunt them.

In this book both Madeline and Milke take on missing person cases that split the team and stop them from working together. Madeline is on the case trying to find a missing daughter but what she uncovers shows who the real enemy is.

Mike is hired by his cousin to find his missing partner and her sister but what they uncover is something far more sinister than they ever could have imagined.

Now the two are in a race against time to find the truth and the women alive.

I really really enjoy this series and I look forward to more.

Appearances can be deceiving. And in Southern California, where the sun shines almost every day and make-believe has its own industry, it’s hard to tell what is real and what is merely illusion. Two inquiries come to MDPI on the same day that seem like fairly straight-forward missing person cases. But it doesn’t take long to discover there’s nothing ordinary about the disappearance of two beautiful sisters from Minnesota and an estranged heiress who has never touched her eight-figure fortune.

While Madeline’s partner, Mike Delaney, heads down to Los Angeles to search for his cousin’s vanished girlfriend and her sister, Madeline heads to San Luis Obispo in hopes of picking up a twelve-year-old trail at a Catholic boarding school. Their separate pursuits lead them into a world where a frightening reality hides behind a glossy veneer. With several lives hanging in the balance, Mike and Madeline are faced with daunting odds and ruthless criminals who will kill to keep what they have taken.

Though I was always an ardent reader, I was convinced I couldn’t string sentences together if my life depended on it. Fortunately for me, when I was looking for something creative I could do from bed—if my mystery illness progressed to that point—I decided to try my hand at it. No pressure, no expectations. I didn’t tell anyone what I was up to. I just wanted to see if I could string sentences together and tell an interesting story.

I remembered a quote by Hemingway, “Write about what you know.” With this mandate, I chose the time spent living with my husband in the French Quarter of New Orleans as the backdrop for my story. I typed out my first two paragraphs on my forty-third birthday. I finished that book on my next birthday, and started my second the same day. I now consider those my “practice books”.

As my still-nameless illness progressed, I continued running the family business and continued to write. Nine years after my symptoms began, I finally received a correct diagnosis: Lyme disease, and more specifically, late-stage Lyme, because it had been allowed to progress untreated for so long.

Though the pain was almost unendurable, I clung to my writing like a life preserver. It allowed me to crawl up inside my head, out of my body, giving me brief respites from the vast array of pains.

Though I would never wish this disease on anyone, I can honestly say I am grateful for the path my life took, for it gave me the gift of writing. I now have nine published books, all of which have special significance for me. I write general fiction, mysteries and some nonfiction.

Once Upon a Lyme: The Tale of Two Journeys, is the detailed account of the path my mystery illness led me down as I sought help from over two-dozen doctors, and the gift of writing that was the unexpected upside of being so hopeless ill.

Finding Ruth was inspired by a previously unseen photograph of my mother taken when she was nineteen. I found it as I was going through her things prior to her move into a skilled nursing hospital. That gorgeous photograph of her looking so happy and full of promise made me realize how little I knew about her life before I came along. Because Alzheimer’s has taken away all her memories, I painstakingly reconstructed her life from public records, thousands of photographs, and what my brother, sister and I could remember. The message in the tribute to my mom is Ask while you have the chance.

As of this writing, I have just completed the fourth book in the Madeline Dawkins mystery series. I’m still in love with writing and I still squeal with joy to think that I’ve written eleven books and self-published nine of them. If there is a message in this, it’s Never discounts what you are capable of achieving.
