Gabe (Glass City Hearts Book One) by Desiree Lafawn – Review by Jana Teppih

Gabe (Glass City Hearts Book One)Gabe by Desiree Lafawn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Gabe is the first book in Desiree Lafawn’s Glass City Hearts series. I read the third book first and then felt compelled to pick up the first and the second books of the series. I absolutely love Desiree Lafawn’s writing, there is something magical about it … it pulls you in and doesn’t let you go … she makes the characters so real that you feel as if you are experiencing their lives along with them! I recommend to start with the first book and then continue with the next ones as you will meet some of the characters in previous books and knowing their stories you will get so much more out of the story you are reading!
Gabe is the story of Gabe Anderson, an ex-Special Forces, bodyguard, investigator … the hero of every warm blooded woman, and Angel Jax, the girl next door who writes smutty romantic comedies and moonlights as a singer for living … what do they have in common? They were the best friends when growing up and then … something happened … and they have not seen or spoken for fifteen years! And now, Angel is at Gabe’s door as he is the only one who could help her out of the sticky situation she has ended up in …
It is a masterfully written story of past secrets and present filled with danger … openings for second chances and … well, everything one would want from a story that takes us away …

Dino (Glass City Hearts Book Two) by Desiree Lafawn – Review by Jana Teppih

Dino (Glass City Hearts Book Two)Dino by Desiree Lafawn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Dino is the second book in Desiree Lafawn’s Glass City Hearts series. I started with book three of the series and simply had to go and also read books one and two! Desiree’s writing makes the stories so real that you feel so close to the characters and you simply want more … more glimpses into their lives, more of the people in their lives … simply more!
Dino is the story of Dino, a man of so many identities that at times he himself no longer knows who he truly is, and of Jeanette, a broken woman who has finally stopped running … having found a place (and people) to call home … These two have SOOOOO many secrets between them that at times it is hard to breathe … my goodness, this story … the journey Jeanette has been on … the suffering … and Dino … the loyalty … the family … Jeanette … and using the alternating points of views, she makes us part of the story …
The writer takes us to the pits of despair and to the heights of hope … she makes us cry and she makes us hope and she leaves us breathless and wishing for more … there is never enough …

Well we finally get Jesse! Im so happy to be back with this series and these are just never long enough for me, I may need to read slower!
Jesse and Harlow meet in a way you would never believe, and it just goes from there.
I was laughing so hard at one point I couldn’t see through my laughter tears, but it was needed to break that bombshell!
What a read and I hope we get to see more of this group soon!

Jesse (Glass City Hearts Book 3)Jesse by Desiree Lafawn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Jesse is the third book in Desiree Lafawn’s Glass City Hearts series. I have not read the first two books but I had read The Permanence of Pain so I thought I knew what to expect but it was a bit different. I loved The Permanence of Pain and loved meeting Beck again and I loved Jesse even more … in some ways it was not as dark as my first encounter with the writer though it had sufficient human suffering and weakness and evil …
So, Jesse is the story of Jessie “Jesse” Belton and Harlow Jones and Harlow’s little four year old son JJ (Jesse Jones). They meet when JJ pees on Jesse’s shirt and this is, my friends, how a beautiful love story begins! Jesse came back from LA where he was on the verge of starting his career at a fancy bakery he had worked his life for … he came back after his mom died and his functioning alcoholic father lost his handle on his life, handle he never really had had … Harlow is a single mother who never knew her father, who was completely alone in the world except for her son …
This story tells the story of families, a story of how we define a family … it is a story of dreams and how the dreams change … it is filled with laughter and love and fear and determination and … and I want to know Gabe and Angel and Dino and Jeanette’s stories as well so I will go back and read books 1 and 2 AND I hope that Desiree will give us more of the Glass City Hearts’ stories!

Jesse by Desiree Lafawn
Stars:4

This is the third story in the Glass City series. The story focuses on Jesse and Harlow. They were a great couple to read about. Jesse tries to help out and is incredibly sweet. Harlow is strong, determined female character. Harlow’s little boy sound so sweet, a bit rotten, and a whole lot of funny. I really enjoyed reading this story, and loved seeing other characters from this series in this story.

Jesse (Glass City Hearts Book 3)Jesse by Desiree Lafawn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Desiree Lafawn has done it again with a great addition to the Glass City Hearts Series. Jesse is book three in the series and all about Jesse. If you read the previous two stories (which I hope you did) you remember Jesse from when Angel was kidnapped. This story hit a few spots with me it’s main focus in on Harlow who’s a struggling single mom with a crappy past. Jesse is about struggles, moving forward and new beginnings. As you read the story you know something is going to happen you just aren’t sure in what way and then it does and you feel relieved that it finally happened and you can relax. There’s a slow steady build up, then the climax, and a nice clean ending. The previous characters are in the story and play significant roles especially Dino with his big bad self.

Jesse (Glass City Hearts Book 3)Jesse by Desiree Lafawn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Jesse is the 3rd book in the Glass City Hearts series by Desiree Lafawn. I was unaware that there were 2 book before this one but this did not affect my enjoyment or understanding of this book as each can be read as a standalone, although the same characters are present in each book. I would suggest reading them all as, if the 3rd book is anything to go by then I’m sure the first 2 will be equally as awesome and I’ll be sure to read them in the future.
This is the story of Jesse and Harlow. Jesse is running his dad’s bar after the death of his mother. Harlow is a single mum whose son (amusingly also called Jesse but is shortened to JJ) pees on Jesse when he’s caught short on the way to his mum’s job interview.
There is instant chemistry between Jesse and Harlow. This is a really heartwarming romance. Harlow hasn’t let any guy near her following her disastrous relationship with JJ’s dad and she’s too busy concentrating on getting a job to have a better life for her and JJ.
I’m a total sucker for an adorable kid in a book and I can say whole heartedly that JJ is a total scene stealer. He is just the most awesome kid and you can’t help but fall in love with him from the very first chapter.
This is one of those romance stories that make you all warm and fuzzy inside and I’d totally recommend it to others.

Jesse (Glass City Hearts Series Book #3) by Desiree Lafawn – Review by Angela Hayes

Jesse (Glass City Hearts Book 3)Jesse by Desiree Lafawn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Jesse is the third book in the Glass City Hearts series by Desiree Lafawn. This is a contemporary romance with some drama, suspense, emotion, and a lot of heart and soul. I have read all Ms. Lafawn’s books now and am really impressed at how easily she can slip from one genre, and into another. From Paranormal romance to romantic comedy, she can do it all, producing wonderful stories that will keep you hooked right till the end. Because of this, and the fact that the other two books in this series are so good, I had pretty high expectations for this book, and I am happy to say that Ms. Lafawn didn’t let me down, she definitely upped the ante with this production, writing what I consider to be one of her best books to date!
You could read this book as a standalone, but as the series has recurring characters who make appearances too, so I highly recommend reading the other two books before starting on this one- just to get a better perspective of the characters- not to mention that they’re all superb stories in their own rights.
Jesse hasn’t had an easy life growing up. His father is a hard man who is emotionally distant and now caught in a cycle of alcoholism. Jesse has had it drummed into him all his life that ‘blood is thicker than water’, so he’s put aside his dreams of having his own bakery, to help his father by taking over the running of his bar. Jesse hoped that by helping out, his dad would get back on his feet again, and Jesse would be free to follow his dreams once more. But as the story progresses, this becomes an increasingly slim hope, as his father seems to spiral downwards. Will Jesse have to choose between keeping the bar open, or moving on for his own sake. Then throw a beautiful, single mother into the mix, and Jesse’s world will never be the same again.
Harlow Jones is a hard-working, and determined, single mother. Her gorgeous four year old son is her whole life. But after losing her job, she’s determined to get back on her feet. She has an interview lined up, that she hopes will be the answers to her prayers. But life with a four year old is completely unpredictable- and an encounter with Jesse changes everything.
The story has a great pace and a smooth flow. It is told from alternating POV’s- Jesse and Harlow’s- which gives us a really great balance of perspectives, thoughts and feelings. As always, this story is really well written, and so very easy to read. Ms. Lafawn has a warm, sexy, and engaging style- full of wonderful descriptions and intricate details that added an extra layer of interest to the storyline.
Now, I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next!

Thank you, Ms. Lafawn!

Jesse (Glass City Hearts Book 3)Jesse by Desiree Lafawn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Jesse by Desiree Lafawn is book three of the Glass City Hearts Series. This book can be read as a standalone but each book does have overlapping characters.

Family may usually be about the people that are blood related to you. Sometimes however, it’s about the people you choose. Jesse is being to realize that after being told his whole life that family is everything. Harlow just needs a chance. If she could catch a break, she could create a better life for her son and that’s all she really wants. After a chance encounter, is Jesse the person that can help make life a little better?

This book definitely drew me in and I couldn’t wait to finish it just to see how it progressed. There’s some twists and turns the story takes you on that you don’t really expect but the story is so much better for it.The characters are so well developed. Harlow is such a strong independent character. She is so relatable as a single mom just trying to do what she can for her son. I truly enjoyed this book.

Jesse
Glass City Hearts
Book 3
By Desiree Lafawn
☆☆☆☆☆
This is a full length romance with a twist of suspense. Blood is thicker than water, is just the beginning.

Harlow Jones is a single mother of a four year old. She works hard and her life revolves around her son. Losing her job has sent her on another path. Now she is trying to get to her interview, for a job that could make her life easier. When her son runs into Jesse, literally. Then everything moves in a different direction.

Jesse is helping his father out. His mother passed away a few years ago. Jesse’s plan was to get his father back on his feet. Then go back to his real passion. But his father is turning more to the bottle, and not helping himself. Now Jesse has to make a choice, keep the bar open or move on.

Desiree Lafawn has written one of my favorite stories. This story and series is fantastic. I love every one of her characters, and hate some just the same. This starts out just a fun calm read. Romance is in the air, until it’s not. I LOVE this story! Desiree Lafawn has done it again. Her story will draw you in and keep you there. I am looking forward to the next one in this series.

I love this series and with each additional book, it just keeps getting better. The storylines are interesting and the characters are lovable. Each character has found a place in my heart. This installment is Jesse’s story. It has been drilled into his head since he was a little boy that family always comes first. When his mother dies, Jesse returns home to take care of his alcoholic father even though the man was never there for him. Two years later and Jesse is at his wits end trying to run his father’s bar. A bathroom accident in the back alley of the bar changed his life forever. Harlow came into his life when he least expected it.

Harlow has struggled her whole life. She wants one break so she can give her son a better life. She knows her interview with Glass City Guard is it but her son’s bladder has other plans. A chance meeting with Jesse in a back alley has turned her life around. She has everything she could ever want within her grasp, she just has to protect her son and get through one of the scariest nights of her life.

I loved Harlow and Jesse but fell in love with JJ as did all the other characters. This little boy was adorable. It was nice to see the reappearance of characters ie: Jolene and Gerta. Rosalina cracked me up especially towards the last few scenes. I was dying of laughter! I think this is a winning book by this author. I’m looking forward to more books in this series.

Jesse (Glass City Hearts Book 3) By Desiree Lafawn. Just when I think I can’t love this series anymore this author blows me away all over again. You can read these as a standalone but you do have past characters showing up. And trust me you’ll want to read them all anyway. Jesse and Harlow are probably my new favorite, each character is unique and so easy to connect with but when they are together it’s amazing how they draw you into their story. I was completely hooked from page one and literally couldn’t put it down until the end and now I’m sad I can’t ever read it for the first time again but I’ll definitely be reading this awesome story again and again! It’s got everything you need in a great memorable story. I’m giving this book a five star review and highly recommend it to anyone!

Jesse, by Desiree Lafawn, is the third book in the Glass City Hearts series. This contemporary romance is well rounded containing a mix of elements to keep the reader intrigued and engaged. Each of the stories within this series have been unique, but have some overlap with characters between the books. In Jesse’s story we learn more about him. I really liked that he is such a strong male character, though we didn’t really get much of him in the others stories – just a small taste to peak our interests. Thoroughly enjoyed this read/series!!

Dino is the first second book in the Glass City Hearts Series by Desiree Lafawn. I really enjoyed reading the first book in the series, Gabe- so I knew I had to read this one too. I have mentioned before that I have read all Ms. Lafawn’s books so far and I am really impressed at how easily she can slip from one genre to another. From Paranormal romance to romantic comedy, she can do it all, producing excellent stories that keep you hooked right till the end. I must admit that I wasn’t really sure that I would like this book because even though Dino intrigued me in the first book, I didn’t particularly like him, or Jeanette for that matter. But I had to see what Ms. Lafawn would do with the story, and I am really glad that I did, because she won me over- and by the end of the book I loved everything about Dino and Jeanette, and their story.
This book could be read as a standalone, but as the series has recurring characters, I highly recommend reading book one before starting on this one- just to get a better perspective of the characters- not to mention that it’s a brilliant book in its own right. This book seemed to be a little more emotional and suspenseful than the first one, to me. With secrets on both sides, Dino and Jeanette have their work cut out for them. There is danger, twists and surprising developments that had me flying over the words, reading as fast as I could, to find out what was going on.
The story has a great pace and a smooth flow. It is told from alternating POV’s- Jeanette and Dino’s,-so we get a really great balance of perspectives, thoughts and feelings. The story is really well written, and so easy to read as Ms. Lafawn has a sexy, engaging and descriptive style to her writing that just draws you in and leaves you wanting to dive into her next book ASAP. So, bring on “Jesse”: Glass City Hearts Book #3!!

Thank you, Ms. Lafawn!
