This book was book 2 in the Satan’s Devils MC: San Diego series and it was such a good read! We get to get an in depth view from Grumbler’s and Mary’s point of view. The world building includes Mary’s daughter who is 17 who makes some risky choices. I loved that within the family of the San Diego chapter that we got to see a new depth unfurl. While there is some deep drama and dark things there was a whole bunch of cuteness too! I loved this book!

Grumbler!! I cannot say how much I have fallen for this man and am so happy he has finally found his path in Life!!
I wasn’t 100% sure how I was going to feel about “older” main characters but between Being Lost and Grumbler’s Rider, I am impressed. I have found I do not mind the character’s ages as long as it is a good read. Manda has not failed in her story lines for the San Diego chapter and I am completely looking forward to reading more of her MC books!

I’m too old to find love, my bike is all I need but in she walked and I could not resist.

Grumbler is set in his ways, he has been in the MC as long as he can remember and he has given his blood, sweat for the club and although all around him have old ladies he has never been one to go looking for one, until one day he gets the shock of his life and decides to give love a go.

Mary is a single mom, trying to juggle a wayward teenager who is determined to send her insane before her 18th birthday. Alicia’s new torture is to be a model, but Mary is not happy with her going alone as something does not seem right and how right Mary was. With the help of the handsome MC rider can they get themselves out of the mess they have got themselves in.

I love all of the series written by Manda Mellett and this does not disappoint, I loved the relationship between Mary and Grumbler as they seem like an unlikely couple but are so perfect for each other. Also, this is a great older couple story its not all the young people who can find love, the chemistry between was brilliant and the way the characters have been developed made them believable and relatable. The relationship also between Mary and her daughter was brilliantly written and in the end I loved how it all concluded.

I can’t ain’t wait to read the next instalment in this series.

Once again, I have been utterly taken in by a biker story. You would think it would get repetitive, but Manda Mellett does not write the same love story twice. Love can happen even when you aren’t looking. This book has all the common themes I have come to love and expect from this author: Love, Complex Characters, Tight Family Bonds, and Plot Twists that make for quite the RIDE! (tehe, see what I did there?). Some of it was hard to read, but helps the reader understand the characters better. Clear the space on your TBR, cause you’re likely going to want to pick up the next.

Book Review: Grumbler’s Ride
Author Manada Mellette
FIVE STARS
Book 2 in the Satan’s Devils MC San Diego chapter does NOT disappoint. Grumbler is a mid to late 50’s man who has not had the best of luck in life. He has resigned himself to being alone for the rest of his life and he is ok with that.
Mary is in her late 40’s and a single mom. She has her hands full with her head strong daughter who is trying to find a place in the difficult life of being a teenager.
Grumbler is approached by a man who take photographs. This is how he meets Mary, her daughter is modeling and they are using Grumbler’s motorcycle as a prop.
This story is funny as well disturbing. Some of the things the photographer is into is very shady and NOT COOL.
I love the way the Satan’s Devils are able to take down the trafficking of persons. So far I am in love with this series.

Not all heroes wear capes. I enjoyed the complexity of the plot and the development of the characters. I admired the approach that Manda took in creating the main characters, the vulnerability of Grumbler regarding his age and how the opposite sex views him (this alpha male combating his insecurities). There are two sides to a coin; with Grumbler there is no difference; he is a badass who gets things done and on the other hand, he’s an absolute sweetheart when it comes to those he calls family. Can Mary be a more kick-ass understanding mom! I loved how she was portrayed in this novel. Go, Mary! There were certain situations in the novel that did not sit well with (unfortunately for some this is a reality); bless the heavens justice was served. Readers beware. I recommend this slow-burn intriguing page-turner.

Another great read by Manda Mellett that deals with some issues that teens face today. I like that she tackles the issues bringing awareness to them. I was not crazy about the female lead in this story. I realize she acted like a lot of people probably would act, but I just didn’t relate to her. The romantic relationship wasn’t my favorite as much as the parental relationship that develops – don’t want to give too much away. One of Manda’s talents is her development of relationships in the story, and she doesn’t disappoint in this one.

I get so lost in Manda Mellet’s story telling that I read her books in one sitting. The characters are amazing and deal with real life situations. This is Grumbler’s story. Grumbler decided to pimp out his bike to a photographer that takes pics for book covers. When he doesn’t get paid what he is owed he starts to dig into the photographer. What he finds opens a whole can of worms, I was not expecting.
Mary let her daughter model, but only if Mary goes with her. There she meets Grumbler, a gruff man whom she was quite attracted to. But would their paths even cross again?
Being in my late 40’s I rooted so hard for Mary and Grumbler. We may be older, but we aren’t dead!
Be aware there are trigger warnings, rape and of sexual nature. Very gritty story that I absolutely loved.

Grumbler’s Ride is the second chapter in the Satan’s Devils MC San Diego series, personally I enjoyed this second chapter even more then I enjoyed the first. I love that Ms. Mellett is writing more mature characters. The fact that she writes more mature characters gives the story a different take then if her characters where in their mid thirties. While this series has some scenes that could trigger some people it is still well worth the read. Ms. Mellett is slowly becoming one of my favorite authors she always seems to tackle sensitive subjects and handles them with immense care. The care she provides in her writing makes her books flow well and her series come together beautifully.

Ah yes, Grumbler, so set in his ways. I loved his character in this book, even if he is a little rough around the edges. We meet Grumbler when he meets a photographer whom wants to take pictures of his bike, and a monetary deal is made. Needless to say, that photographer is not what he seems to be, conning Grumbler of what is due. Mary and Alicia come into the picture and my heart! Mary lost her husband and trying to raise a 17 year old daughter on her own. Alicia is in a situation and Mary tries to be there for her daughter, something is not right and Mary senses it. Grumbler is there for both Mary and Alicia. Some twists and turns in this book (don’t want to give away to much), but at the end there is love between Grumbler and Mary. I love them together.

Manda Mellet has written a world-class novel! The characters, the plot, and the mystery makes this a must-read MC romance novel.

Grumbler is the Sergeant-At-Arms for the Satan’s Devils Motorcycle Club in San Diego. He’s been with the MC for almost 30 years. Never in his thirty years has he ever thought about taking an old lady (or a wife in citizens’ terms). The love of his life and what he cares for the most is his motorcycle. He spends his extra cash on tricking out his motorcycle.

Mary Styles is a widower and a single mom of a seventeen-year-old daughter, Alicia. Mary’s life revolves around her work, trying to keep her daughter safe, and dealing with her daughter’s ever-present teenage attitude.

A chance encounter during a photoshoot involving Grumbler’s motorcycle and Alicia, Mary’s daughter, brings Grumbler and Mary together on a path to save Alicia’s future. What obstacles will the two have to face to keep Alicia’s future intact?

Grumbler’s Ride is the second book in the Satan’s Devils MC series by Manda Mellett. Grumbler is a rough and tough biker who feels as though he has no time in his life for anything other than his bike, his work, and his MC life. He has never been married and never had kids, nor has he had any desire to have either. His family is the Satan’s Devils and that is how he intends to keep it. His girlfriend, as his biker buddies refer to it, is his beloved motorcycle. Besides, even if he wanted an old lady in his life, he is too darn old at this point as he is nearing sixty.

Mary, a single mom, has been raising Alicia alone since Alicia was about 10 years old. Now at 17, Alicia and her mom butt heads constantly because, as teenagers often do, she knows everything. Mary has no desire to date or bring a man into her life because raising her head strong daughter not only keeps her busy but tends to be a turn off to men. Mary and Alicia bicker constantly as Mary tries to teach her daughter the dangers of the world. Alicia, feeling that her mom is being too overbearing and too protective, chooses to often ignore her mom’s advice. When Alicia is approached by a photographer who asks her to do some modelling for him Mary is nervous and reluctant to let Alicia do the photo shoot. However, against her better judgement, Mary allows her daughter to do the photo shoot, but only on the condition that she goes along to supervise.

As luck would have it, Grumbler has been approached by the same photographer and has been asked if his beloved bike can be used in a photo shoot. At the photo shoot Grumbler briefly meets Mary and gets a glimpse into the dynamics of the mother-daughter relationship between Mary and her daughter Alicia. This chance encounter between Mary and Grumbler during the photo shoot changes all their lives forever in a way that non of them could have ever predicted.

This book was a great read and I fell in love with the characters of both Grumbler and Mary. I absolutely loved the fact that the main characters were both older and more mature. I also found it quite refreshing that Grumbler and Mary first became friends before deciding if it could be taken any farther. Grumbler is a man who oozes sex appeal and goes to show that even mature, older men that are considered rough around the edges can be sexy. Mary is someone who shows that older, more mature women, can also be attractive and desirable. This was a great read, but I must warn that there is some sensitive material in the book.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I read Grumbler’s Ride as a stand-alone, and was not disappointed. This is my first novel from this author, so I was a little hesitant. Since this is the second in the series, it took some time to read past the background story, but not so much to put the book down. Many romance stories involve 20-something or even 30-something aged characters, so I was a little surprised to read that Grumbler is nearing 60! However, the silver fox on the cover truly depicts the sexiness of this character. I think the author did a great job of portraying the mindset, maturity, and “experience” of a man Grumbler’s age. Reading about the challenges and blossoming relationship of Grumbler and Mary was a fun ride that neither of them saw coming, including me! Great read!

This was such a good book. I love Mary and Grumbler’s just interaction with each other. It’s refreshing to read non insta love books. Where the friendship builds into something more. As a mom with the most dramatic 3 year old daughter ;I’m terrified of her teenage years. I feel for Mary doing it on her own and trying to make the best decisions she can. It’s wonderful seeing lost and patsy throughout the story also! This book will seriously have you on your toes. It definitely has topics that touch the real world and will have you gasping at times. I cried more than once throughout the book. I could not recommend this more!!

Grumbler is an old MC member who thinks he will be a loner for life. No women, no family, no nothing. His biggest attachment is to his bike. Some strange photograph tells Grumbler that he wants to take pictures of his bike for a photo shoot, “pimp his ride.” After a bit of deliberation, Grumbler decides to do this. He meets Mary, mom of a rebellious teen and bonds with her later over issues with the photographer. Grumbler finds that his heart melts around Mary. Some family drama that involves Grumbler and the MC grows exponentially and brings them together as the MC’s worth together to stop the douchebag photographer. Manda Mellett does such a good job of portraying the MC’s as more of a realistic group that SOA. I thoroughly enjoy these books because Ms. Mattett makes the authors feel realistic. You can feel their joy and their pain. This was a very hard plot but I was definitely rooting for the MC.

I have said it before and I will say it again to anyone who will listen…Manda Mellett never ever disappoints!! It’s just that simple! Most readers probably see an MC novel and think they know what to expect but I say throw those ideas out right now and read every Satan’s Devils book you can lay your hands on. I am now so fully invested in every single character that I just have to keep reading this series because I have to know where life is taking all these wonderful characters even if my heart gets broken along the way.

Grumbler’s Ride is another fantastic book filled with drama, heart and emotion. Once again the main characters, Grumbler, the Sargent of Arms of the San Diego Chapter of the Satan’s Devils and Mary, a widow and single mum doing the best she can raising a somewhat rebellious teenage daughter, are older characters. I absolutely love that Ms Mellett does not simply focus on the younger members of the MC.

In Grumbler’s Ride we see Grumbler a very set in his ways, I guess you would say, biker who only ever saw his Harley as being the lady love of his life, slowly realise there just might be more to life after all. He comes to the aide of Mary and her daughter after realising they had all be taken advantage of by a photographer and his phoney promises. While looking into the photographer Grumbler soon realises this guy his so much more dangerous then he first thought and he will need his club brothers to help him bring the guy down and to protect Mary and her daughter who are both starting to worm their way into his heart. Along the way Mary is also losing her heart but needs to decide if the MC way of life is for her.

This gorgeous couple bring us some unexpected Story twists that’s for sure! I promise it will keep you captivated from start to finish but most of all the heart of the characters will draw you in! I love my MC family…yes they are mine now…and I can’t wait to read more.

This book yet again, was another smash hit. I loved the aspect of a “side-character” coming to fruition and being the main character and Grumbler killed the role. Following his story was beautifully written, had good plot twists, and was interesting. Watching Grumbler soften that hard shell and open up was amazing to read.

After a modeling photoshoot (which includes Grumblers bike and Mary’s daughter) introduces Grumbler and Mary, something about her he just can’t get off his mind. He moves on with life only to discover that the pictures have sold, with no compensation to himself. He reaches out and contacts Mary to see if they’ve received compensation only to find out the photographer has completely disappeared and dropped off of the map. Grumbler enlists the help of his fellow MC brothers to find the photographer, but shortly something awful happens to Mary’s daughter as a threat. While Mary and Grumbler are falling for each other behind closed doors a bigger problem is unfolding causing the dispatch of members from other areas. Following along as they weave they’re way through this puzzling and disturbing situations was intriguing and kept me hooked the whole way through! And the ending!!! I won’t spoil it for you, but I need another book!!

Grumbler
I’ve given this club more years of my life than I care to remember, most recently giving them my all as sergeant-at-arms. My life is settled and just the way I like it. I’m too old to change now.
I’ve never had a woman to call my own, nor fathered kids, and never felt I missed out. My brothers sometimes joke my motorcycle is my old lady, and I can’t argue.
So when a photographer wants to feature my baby I can’t resist showing her off. It should have been simple, instead it brought complications that I never dreamed off.
Mary
I’m a frazzled single mom of a seventeen-year-old girl whose life seems to revolve around challenging me. She’s not quite adult, but doesn’t see herself as a child, constantly pushing at boundaries.
I spend my time trying to keep one step ahead of her, but if I give an inch, she takes a mile. Her latest endeavour? To model for a perfect stranger. Oh, the battles when I said she wasn’t going without me as chaperone.
I was right, something was off about the situation, but what it was took a while to emerge. I can’t imagine how I’d have coped if it hadn’t been for the gruff biker called Grumbler.

Manda’s life’s always seemed a bit weird, starting with a childhood that even today she’s still trying to make sense of, then losing her parents in the late teens. Going from the tragic to the bizarre, who else could be unlucky enough to have had two car accidents, neither her fault, one involving a nun, and another involving a police woman?

There isn’t enough space to list everything that’s happened to Manda, or what she’s learned from it. But by using the rich fabric of her personal life, psychology degree, varied work experiences, and amazing characters she’s met, Manda is able to populate her books with believable in-depth characters and enjoys pitting them against situations which challenge them. Her books are full of suspense, twists and turns and the unexpected.

Manda lives in the beautiful countryside of Essex in the UK, the area’s claim to fame being the Wilkin’s Jam Factory at nearby Tiptree. She can usually find jars of jam which remind her of home wherever she goes. As well as writing books and reading, Manda loves walking her dogs and keeping fit. She lives with her husband of over 30 years, who, along with her son, is her greatest fan and supporter.

Manda is thankful that one of the more unusual, and at the time unpleasant, turns her life took, now enables her to spend her time writing. Confirming, in her view, every cloud has a silver lining.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Grumblers Ride is book 2 in the Satan’s Devils MC San Diego series, by Manda Mellet.

The story starts with Grumbler….who certainly earns his name at first. He’s an older member of the club and you get the impression he’s seen almost everything. His bike is his pride and joy, so when he agrees to it ‘modelling’ in a photo, he gets annoyed very quickly when his fee isn’t paid.
Mary is having the same problem, except it’s her daughter who’s waiting for her modelling fee. She didn’t want her seventeen year old daughter involved in this anyway, but there’s no going back now, and she deserves to be paid rather than conned.
Grumbler and his MC brothers soon come up with a plan, and when grumbler spends more time with Mary and Alicia, we begin to see the softer side to him….there’s more to him than his name lets on.
I loved the relationship between Grumbler and Mary, she softens his grumpiness and he brings her out of her shell and shows her there’s more to life that she’s been missing out on. I would recommend this story, and can’t wait to read more books in the series now.

I simply adore this author and with this book she’s done it again! Grumblers Ride is Book 2 in the Satan’s Devils MC San Diego series. This time we take a look in to Grumbler’s life. Being one of the older members of the MC, he has never had anyone special to call his own and not to mention that he never wanted to either. He also never had or desired having kids. His Harley Davidson is the love of his life, that is until he meets a young girl and her mother. Mary is raising her 17 year old daughter Alicia on her own since her husband passed. When these two meet they form a friendship. When things start taking a turn for the worse they get closer until one day it just clicks for Grumbler. Now that the situation that they found themselves in, Grumbler decides he wants Mary as his own. This story was so great because it reached to those who are older. It isn’t about a young guy and girl trying to find someone. I was able to connect to the book in that way. However, I do have to mention that in Manda Mellett style, this book was so incredibly good. I love all of her MC series and continue to want to read more and more of her books. I recommend this book to anyone who loves MC books!

I love how Manda Mellet’s stories deal with the evil underbelly of our society and the justice it so richly deserves. Grumbler’s Ride is the second novel in the Satan’s Devils MC San Diego series. It follows Grumbler, Lost’s sargent-in-arms.

Grumbler is one of the oldest members of the club and was in the club when everything went down with Snake. He has never had a family, or kids, or anything but the club and his bike.

Mary is a single mom of a teenage daughter. She is struggling like most parents do with how to balance her child almost being an adult, but not quite being there yet.

I really enjoyed the second installment of this series and truly cannot wait to delve more into this series and this author’s other series!

This book didn’t disappoint! I loved the first book in the series and this one is even better. There are some dark parts (could be a trigger for some) but the relationship between the older couple Grumbler and Mary make it so worth it. The way that Grumbler steps in to help Mary and her teenage daughter is heartwarming. The fact that members of other chapters assist each other is nice to see. I really like the San Diego chapter and I’m looking forward to reading the other series Ms. Mellett has written to learn about those chapters.

Grumbler's Ride (Satan's Devils MC San Diego #2)Grumbler’s Ride by Manda Mellett
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Grumbler’s Ride is the second book in the Satan’s Devils MC San Diego series. It can be read as a standalone.
I enjoyed that the author seems to be writing more mature characters in the San Diego series. The main male character in this book is almost sixty, so it makes the feel of this book a bit different than if he was in his thirties. I love how the romance develops from the two main characters being friends first.
Be aware that this book may contain parts that will be sensitive for some readers, including a brief description of harm to children and pregnancy risks after forty.

Grumbler’s Ride: Satan’s Devils MC San Diego #2
By Manda Mellett

I absolutely loved this story!!! Everytime I read one of Manda Mellett’s books it reminds me of why she is one of my favorite authors. This book is full of suspense, danger, love, laughter, tears, and wonderful characters. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough because I was drawn in from the start and couldn’t put it down. This is Grumblers and Mary’s story, they are older and and I loved they have a different maturity level then young characters. This book is a must read, you will love every word. I can’t help but get completely invested in the characters and the story. I feel like my review doesn’t give this book justice, I cannot say enough great things about this story and the author. I highly recommend this book.
