The Hawke world is one of my favorite worlds. With characters so real and developed, it feels like you can reach out and touch them. You will have a new best friend. Every book has a fresh and complex plot and this one will grab you. Past trauma has Jude’s walls so high no one has climbed them. The story really eclipses how jacked someone’s view of themselves can be. It can be debilitating, and an intimate relationship brings that to the forefront. Satisfying as a forbidden romance and age gap, but also satisfying in the realness of trauma. Loved visiting one of my favorite families! Hope many more to come!

Reticent Hawke
By: Gwyn McNamee

This is not my first book in the Hawke family series, nor will it be my last. I absolutely love her stories. Each book in this series definitely functions as a standalone. However, I definitely recommend reading each and every book. Each of the stories are interconnected in small ways and the ways the family interact carry through from story to story. Also, the family is the thread that connects the stories.
Jude and Angelina were wonderfully written characters and I loved the amount of thought that it was clear that Gwyn McNamee put into each of them. Each of them was flawed, with many problems / difficulties. Also, there is the normal emotional story line that is expected from a Hawke family story. I definitely recommend picking up this book and the rest of the books in the Hawke family series. I have never been disappointed by one of Gwyn McNamee’s books! This will definitely deliver you a great read.

I was so excited to read this newest release by one of my favourite authors ever! I love a good forbidden romance and this one was a brilliant read! There was so much tension, angst and a whole lot of chemistry going on between the characters I couldn’t turn the pages quick enough to find out what was going to happen next. I think I may have found my second favourite book by this author (although I love all of them) this one was just amazing – I’m struggling to even find the words to do this book justice – the last time I was lost for words was when I read Savage Collision!!
This really is a FANTASTIC read and I cannot recommend it enough – its excellently written with amazing characters!

Will this author ever write a book that I don’t love straight away – ever since the first one I read by her I’ve been the biggest fan. She writes the most amazing books with some of the best characters ever – I love that we are now seeing the families expanding and starting to read about the next generation of the Hawke family!

I loved the prequel to this book and it got me excited to read more about the characters and as I expected it did not disappoint at all. Jack and Isaac were wonderful characters to read about. You can definitely see the family traits with Isaac!! I really liked that the relationship built between the two characters – it definitely made the anticipation of things between them more intense!

There was a lot more emotion in the story than I expected – the author definitely knows how to get the tears flowing that’s for sure!

I am looking forward for more to come from this series!

The reluctant one
I love love love this series. The Hawke Family Second Generation series continues with book 2, Reticent Hawke. This is Jude and Angelina’s story and it was brilliant. This story really tugs at the heartstrings and shows the raw side of the characters. Jude, who is an adopted Hawke, and Angelina, Hawke by blood, have grown up together and have always felt chemistry. This book and the whole series is a must read for contemporary romance lovers. Bring on Book 3! Highly recommend.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Jude has always been in the shadows of this big family, although not a true Hawke the love and friendship this family has offered has been unfiltered, but the past still haunts him and he always feel like he does not deserve this as his past is horrific and if only they knew he would be discarded like the trash he perceives he is. Although there has always been a shining light, an angel of sorts that has always calmed him and although she is a Hawke he does not feel worthy of her or her love.

Angelina has always been the old soul, having to deal with her father’s death at six years old will do that to you, but when Jude arrived that Christmas Day when he was ten years old, lost and hiding in the closet she had an instant reaction to him of protection, not a mother’s protection but an attraction she has always played down.

Move on fifteen years and Jude is not the ten year old boy he is a man and with his attraction for Angelina growing every time he sees her, but the only problem is his anxiety and Panic attacks are at the all time high. Angelina is frustrated with Jude she does not fully understand his side, she knows he is hiding something but can he trust her and can she love him the way she wants too.

I love this series and the first generation and am so excited that I finally get to read Jude’s story. Over the series you see some of the horrific past of Jude but now understanding the whole story it is just heart breaking and no wonder he feels so broken. Angelina has also had her fair share of heartache aswell and trying to reconcile that she stills loves her dad who past away with the step dad in Landon who she loves just as much but feels like a betrayal.

The story as always is brilliantly written and flows wonderfully, the characters as always are rich and full with heart and passion which jumps off the page and I loved reading the relationship grow between Jude and Angelina. In all the stories I feel like I am part of the family and are transported along with each emotion which grips you till the end.

I really can’t wait until the next instalment, hoping Allie’s story or Astrid. Please Please Please lol.

The Hawke Family is back! I loved the series with the OG’s and now it’s time to enjoy the stories of the younger generation. This is Jude and Angelina’s story and it will give you all the feels. Even though they are from the same family, Jude didn’t come to the family by blood. These two have been through a lot both together and separately. Trying to figure things out and meet in the middle was hard, but they were able to persevere. I don’t personally feel like these books need to be read in order, but I like to know who’s who especially because this is a complex book family. I can’t wait to see what the next book brings.

I love this series and I love these characters. I have a strong feeling Reticent Hawke is going to be my favorite book in this set. Which is hard to say when this book tears at the heartstrings. What both Jude and Angelina have been through in life is insane. Part of it comes with the Hawke family, the other is outside their control.
Jude’s story was not what I was expecting. It put me through the ringer emotionally. So keep that in mind. It’s all over the place and could potentially be a trigger for someone. Despite all that, the author wrote his story beautifully. She also weaved Angelina into that web perfectly.
If you’re looking for sunshine and roses, this is not that type of romance. It’s dark but beautiful.
This is the second book in this series, however it can be read as a standalone or in succession. I’ll say this though, if this is your introduction to this author, once you’re done you will be hooked. Not only reading book 1 in this generation series, but reading the books in the previous generation series.
Me? I love this world and just hope it’s going to continue.

First generation or second generation, I can’t get enough of this family. Another great book for this author. Jude has always been a mystery from the moment he was introduced and this book did not disappoint in learning about him and his past. Angelina is the oldest of thr kids and owns her dream coffee shop. This book brought life to these characters. This book is no different than the rest where you can feel each emotion that is expressed. I thoroughly enjoyed book two from the second generation series. You will not be disappointed.

Technically Jude was not a Hawke by blood but he grew up as one and the family most definitely considers Jude a Hawke. He sometimes wishes he wasn’t because they were intense. From the first night that Jude was introduced to the family Allie and Angie have been by his side even when Jude pushed the rest of the world away. But Jude never intended to fall in love with her especially since she is a Hawke by blood!
I love this series! The author gets you hooked from the first page. I have read many books from this author and I can’t get enough of her work!

Yes! I was so happy to pick up the next book from one of my favorite contemporary romance authors! This series has been so amazing. If you haven’t picked it up yet, do yourself a favor and start today. In this book we are back with the Hawke Family and the author navigates through different traumas. I loved the emotional rollercoaster twisting and turning through the story. I’ve never met a character in this series that I couldn’t connect with in some way, so I am always so attached to the journey of each character. I really loved Jude and Angelina. The chemistry is always different with couples, but somehow this author makes them relatable no matter what. The flow of the story was just beautiful and never pulled me out of the zone even once. I’ll say it over and over, please pick up this series and get lost in the gorgeous Hawke Family!

I cannot get enough of this series and author. In this book we get to understand Jude and Angelina on a more intimate level. Jude is the reticent Hawke. You learn about his childhood, his foster fathers, and why he struggles in his everyday life.

Angelina is beyond kind hearted and cares for Jude and has since she met him when he was 10 years old. Jude fell in love with Angelina as soon as he laid eyes on her. I cannot get enough of them. I am excited for more of the Hawke family drama. There is a little intimacy but not too much. Highly recommend to any romance reader.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Reticent Hawke is the Second Book in The Hawke Family Second Generation Series. This is a forbidden romance, older woman, friends to lover’s story told from multiple POV’s. The story centers around the characters of Jude and Angelina. Jude was not born into the Hawke family but was adopted by them, so he is considered family. He had a rough childhood which has left him traumatized and weary of human touch. Angelina/Angie is a member of the Hawke family and is 12 years older than Jude. She is the only person who has been able to reach Jude and the only person that he feels comfortable with. Angie and Jude feel a very strong connection and bond between them that goes beyond being family. They are intensely attracted to one another and find it hard to work through the feelings they have towards one another.

This book was beautifully written and took me on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. The characters of Jude and Angie were instantly lovable and relatable, and the storyline hit close to home for me. As an older woman who met, fell in love, and married a younger man I can fully understand society’s view of this type of a relationship. It is socially acceptable for older men to date younger women but not necessarily the other way around. My husband is fifteen years my junior and even I struggled with the age gap and how society would view our relationship. The author did a wonderful job of writing about this reverse age gap romance. I found myself rooting for Jude and Angie to be together. This book has angst, drama, passion, family, hope, romance, tension, and love. I loved this book and cannot wait for the next one in the series! I highly recommend this book!

Gwyn McNamee I am truly truly obsessed with your books and especially this series. I absolutely count the days for the next book. I wish time travelers was available just so I can go read the rest of the series already 🤣 the waiting is excruciating, I need to know what happens. Who did that to her shop? Who and what is Allie hiding? (I thought it was Cassius but nope lol not him. I am really interested to see how that plays out I wasn’t expecting them together but it makes sense) but lowkey I hope its pope they would be cute together. Who is Damon? I feel like he’s important (maybe he’s Falco). And man Roselli is he going to be like Luca or is he going to be like Luca’s dad? I have these and so many more questions 🤣 I need to know the answer to. But as for this book I did love it just as I loved all the other ones ❤ ️.I still think it’s awesome that your characters have real world disorders and issues. 😭😭even if what happened to Jude breaks my heart and was hard to think about because it happens in real life😭😭. I’m happy you paired him and Angie together. They are perfect for each other.

Ps I need a Family tree made or I’m gonna have to make one lol. I need a visual reminder of who was born to who.

So, we have a story about “Nolan” and “Jack”. We understand from the prequel that these two find each other and do not divulge their real names. Well, when Jack is thrown back into his life, they have to sort out one thing that she is unable to deny.. that they have a daughter together, who is named Viviana. Nolan is really Isaac, and Jack is really Giacomina. I know, all very confusing. But not really if you have read the prequel.

Let’s get into the juicy details. These two spent years apart, thinking about each other nonstop. When Isaac is thrown into being a dad, the first time Vivi called Isaac, “daddy”, brought tears to my eyes. Their immediate connection is amazing and what every dad should aspire to be. Minus the ruthless threatening and harassing he partakes in with his competitors.

This novel has amazing characters, great world building, and is steamy. There is an actual storyline, so it is not all smut. I work in a courtroom myself, so the fact that the author knows and understands how attorneys work instead of making it up is awesome. I highly recommend to any romance novel reader out there. I definitely anticipate reading Gabe’s story next, but we will see what the next book has in store! I cannot wait to dive into it!

This is the second book in the Hawke Family Second Generation series. This instalment focuses on Jude and Angelina.

I always enjoy coming back to the Hawke family books, they’re well-written and the characters are complex yet believable. The writing style is easy to follow and flows nicely making getting drawn in easy. Once again, I got far too emotionally invested in both Jude and Angelina and how their story would develop, especially given both their traumas. The tension is clear throughout and the danger evident leaving you on the edge of your seat at times.

I’m looking forward to the release of the next book, I just can’t stand the waiting!

This is an author that I never hesitate to pick up. I was excited to pick up the next book in this series. I highly suggest reading the previous book in this series to help your enhancement of the characters and the author’s writing style. I found this book to be well written and hard to put down. The characters pull you into the story from the beginning. They are great strong, steamy characters that are among some of my favorites. They have great chemistry and growth throughout the story adding to the entertainment value of the story. This is a fast paced, engaging story where growing up on the streets, life teaches you to trust no one. A life where you find yourself trusting one person but you are not allowed to have her. No matter what you can’t have her but there is a determination and attraction that can’t be ignored. This is a story you don’t want to miss. It is full of romance, steam and just hard to put down. I really enjoyed this book and I highly recommend it.

Reticent Hawke is Book #2 in the new Hawke Family Second Generation series by Gwyn McNamee. I was expecting to love this book, because hello, it’s Gwyn McNamee— but I really didn’t expect to FLOVE it so very very hard. Even having Ms. McNamee play her version of whac-a-mole and pinball with my heart and emotions – making me reach for the tissues, more than once- while I was sobbing my heart out and trying to read through all the tears — she wrung me out and I FLOVED every second!
GAH, this is going to be a short review, because how can I ever hope to capture PERFECTION in a few short paragraphs??? Seriously, if you haven’t read this book yet, do yourself a favour and grab a copy and dive right in- you won’t regret it- I cannot recommend this book/series/author highly enough! You NEED her and this book in your life!
I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us in Book #3- Relentless Hawke.
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Gwyn McNamee!

Jude and Angelica…where to start? Forbidden love? Love from afar? 12 year age gap? I can understand why Jude stayed away but oh, my heart hurts for him being that lonely. These two have some issues to get through and they will. As the older one in the relationship, I’ll say it can feel different because society paints a jaded picture but pooh. Women can have younger men. My husband is 10 years younger. I was rooting for Angelica once she realized what she had. I was rooting for Jude all the way. Coming into a mafia family wasn’t easy. The Hawke’s were different. They are a family and love each other. Don’t hide it, talk to someone. Dealing with his agoraphobia didn’t help. This book left me feeling every emotion. I think it’s the best Hawke book ever (even though you’ll write more). I couldn’t put it down. This author writes and you feel her soul in the writing. The passion and emotion are in it. You feel like you are almost in the middle of the action. Best writing of the year. More than 5 stars if I were allowed to.

Reticent Hawke is the second book in the wonderful The Hawke Family Second Generation series. A forbidden romance best friend’s older sister trope.
Gwyn is one of my favourites to say I was excited to see this book out is an understatement. I have read every book by Gwyn and have fallen in love with each and everyone but the Hawkes past and present have a special place in my heart. The second generation are here and are just as loveable.
This page turner is full of tension and angst, secrets and lies, fear and danger and so much more. Reticent Hawke is just as fantastic as the others. Gwyn has a gift with her story telling and she intricately weaves multi layered and complex threads that are well written and well thought out.
It is not hard to fall in love with the characters who are well developed and did I mention sexy. Told in different POV’s I love that we get a more comprehensive insight into these commanding characters.
I am not going to give anything away you need to grab a copy and find out what happens for yourself because it is that good.
Now I just must wait anxiously for the next instalment.

 Sometimes, I wish I weren’t a Hawke…especially because I’m in love with one.
Years of living on the streets taught me one hard lesson…
Don’t trust anyone.
People are inherently bad and will do bad things any chance they get.
So, when the Hawkes took me under their wings…
I put up walls so high that no one could ever climb over them.
Most stopped trying.
It was the way I liked it.
Locked away in my own little world.
Protected from anything that could hurt me.
But the very person I try so hard to keep out is the only one I want to let in.
I dream about her touch.
Crave her in a way I have no right to.
She’s my best friend’s older sister.
No matter what…I have to keep my hands off Angelina…
Because she’s a Hawke.

Ruthless Hawke (The Hawke Family Second Generation Book 1)Ruthless Hawke by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I know “Jack” and “Nolan” spent a weekend together many years ago and I was beyond curious to see what cod come from it and here’s my chance ( cue excited squeals)

Isaac is the legal eagle in the family and he’s quite the ladies man especially in chambers before going into the courtroom #badboyyou#

So Isaac gets a text telling him there’s a family emergency so he heads home and he gets more than he expected, he find a the daughter of a mob boss in his family home and with a shock he also discovers she’s his weekend ding from so many years ago , the one woman he can’t get out of his system , the one no other woman can measure up to …..

So “Jack” ( Gracomina) and “ Nolan” ( Isaac) shared a passionate weekend , a taste of freedom that was short lived for Jack when she had to run away and face reality again , Jack followed , he tried to catch her but to no avail and the rest is history or it is until her family is in their family office , in need of protection . I must say these 2 keep their poses well and their recognition of each other was kept well hidden from her family but no so much those of the Hawkes….

So while danger is lurking Jack and Nolan have a lot to figure out and their new little family tries to live their lives amidst the chaos around them and while I’m thrilled I can’t help be be afraid at the same time because a man who loves the way he does makes him a target …..

I love the Hawke family ❣️they’re fierce , protective , loving and intense ! This time round there was tears , endearing moments , steamy moments and be still my beating heart moments ….

P.S. Little Vivianna is such a cutie and has her daddy wrapped around her little finger ( just love how tough Guy goes soft guy) and Fluffy is close on her heels 😉

I must say Jade has piqued my interest , why is it that she hates being a Hawke ?! Guess I’ll have to wait and see to see what happens next ❣️😱

Ruthless Hawke (The Hawke Family Second Generation Book 1)Ruthless Hawke by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I absolutely loved the Hawke Family series by this author. When I saw there was a spin-off, I quickly got to reading.

This novel picks up 5 years after the events of Night Hawke. Isaac and Jack still think about the time they spent together and although Isaac tried to find her after, he was unsuccessful. Fate brings the two back together with secrets and identities now revealed.

While I did not read the prequel to this, I did not feel lost while reading. Reading Night Hawke would have given more character depth and background for the characters, making this more impactful but I enjoyed the story and romance overall. I do plan on reading it.

It did take me some time to associate the name Jack with our female heroine because I am used to it being used for male characters, but once I did, I found that I really liked the character and started associating her with the phrase ‘a Jack of all trades’ which I think kinda fits.

The author has a way of using suspense to grip you where you can’t put the book down which is another really why I love her so much. She quickly started to become one of my favorite authors. I may need to binge read some of her other novels while I wait for the next book in this series.

I read the prequel and absolutely loved it. This book couldn’t come fast enough. I could not put this book down. I read it very fast, in about 1 day because it was too good. This book lacks nothing. This is a must read! I don’t think you’ll be disappointed!

Ruthless Hawke: A Second Chance Secret Baby Romance (The Hawke Family Second Generation Book 1)

Oh my goodness, where do I start? If you read the Prequel (which I highly recommend) then you know the history. If you thought that was good wait until you read this book.

Some books take me some time to get really into, but not this time and not with any books by Ms. McNamee. She grabs me from word one and refuses to let go and I find myself thinking about her books days later.

I don’t even know where to start but there are some moments you will have to stop to pick your jaw up off the ground.

I’m so glad I have the Hawke Family back in my life and I’m counting the the time until the next book is released. You absolutely must read this book.

Ruthless Hawke (The Hawke Family Second Generation Book 1)Ruthless Hawke by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a great 5 star read and a great start to the 2nd Generation of the Hawke Family.
The author pulls you right in with her writing. Issac and Jack were great, you could feel their connection coming off the pages. And the twists and turns added a great element to the story. My emotions were all over the place. The whole time I was rooting for them and I was really happy with the ending. It was great seeing some of the characters from the other series, it felt like a reunion. I look forward to reading more from this series and author. 1-click and get started today.

Ruthless Hawke (The Hawke Family Second Generation Book 1)Ruthless Hawke by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the first installment of the Hawke Family’s second generation stories. Although it can be read alone, there are characters that were in Mrs. McNamee’s first series. I love that all the members of the Hawke clan are fierce, and determined when it comes to their family. Isaac is the son of Stone from the first series. He is a lawyer who works for the family, but his mind is focused on the a girl who he met five years prior to the beginning of the story. It turns out that the girl, Jack, as he nicknamed her, is the daughter of a mob boss from Chicago. Jack’s father brings her to the Hawke’s for protection. Isaac and Jack realize instantly that this is not the first time they have met, and Jack’s four year old daughter, is also Isaac’s daughter. The story is a suspenseful page-tuner that has you hoping no-one is going to get seriously hurt. I’m excited to read the next part of this saga!

  1. Ruthless Hawke (The Hawke Family Second Generation Book 1)Ruthless Hawke by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Ruthless Hawke is book one in Gwen McNamee’s The Hawke Family Second Generation series. While there is a series before, it’s not necessary to read to understand; I , however, personally enjoyed knowing what happened previously, having background on the amount of family (because it’s a lot) and how the characters compared. If any family has been to enough, it would definitely be the Hawke family. Love, death, fires, clubs, fights, so much more and so much in between. Isaac is met with a blast from the past with a little blue eyed secret. The story itself was great and I love the authors style. However I was not a huge fan of the name “Jack” for Isaac’s counterpart. It just made it a little confusing but it’s fine. I do love the chemistry and read this quickly as I needed to know how it would end. I know this series is going to be good like the first, if not better!

Ruthless Hawke (The Hawke Family Second Generation Book 1) by Gwyn McNamee – Review by Rebeca Elliott Figueiras

Ruthless Hawke (The Hawke Family Second Generation Book 1)Ruthless Hawke by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Having read the prequel, I do believe you need to read it to truly understand the main characters’ and what transpired between them, however I would say it is still possible to enjoy without it as the author does a good job of providing the important details.
I’ve read the entire Hawke collection so it felt right to be returning to the family for another suspenseful adventure. As usual I got far too emotionally invested in the lives of the main characters, Jack and Isaac, and how their story would play out. I enjoyed seeing how they had both grown since their last encounter and that there was still that person within each of them.
The author did a great job in showing how the events that had occurred happened since their last meeting had shaped them, but also in re-building their previous chemistry without it feeling forced or cheapening the steamy scenes between them.
As usual there were moments, I found myself wanting to scream and knock some sense into the pair, especially given the danger that surrounded them, but their journey wouldn’t be as entertaining without these moments of frustration.
The writing style the author uses is easy to follow and the scenes flow nicely making falling deep within the pages so easy. I lost track of time reading this novel and I can’t wait for the release of the next book to fall back into the world that the Hawke family inhabit once again!
