Ruthless Hawke (The Hawke Family Second Generation Book 1)Ruthless Hawke by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Having read and loved the prequel to this novel, and been left with a real cliffhanger I was looking forward to this novel, and I was not disappointed. This page turner of a story continues Isaac and Jack’s story, but it’s five years since their anonymous weekend together. Isaac is part of the Hawke family, who have an empire in New Orleans, and run everything from the courtrooms to the streets. They are known as being ruthless and willing to do anything to protect what’s there’s. When Isaac is told to expect a women who needs to be kept safe, he was not expecting a face from his past, the mysterious ‘Jack’. He definitely wasn’t expecting the little girl with her, who has his own Hawke blue eyes. Unfortunately, they bring danger with them, but for Isaac it’s now personal. This is a fast paced, action packed read, with great characters, and a gripping storyline. I was hooked throughout I and felt fully immersed in the Hawke’s world. I loved Isaac and Jack, and their chemistry was still sizzling off the page. This can be read as a standalone, but I recommend the prequel, and I can’t wait for book two in the series!

Wow. This book was amazing. After the cliff hanger of the first part of Isaac and Jack’s story I was read for this however the author total blew my socks off. This story is full of angst, danger, passion, old passions rekindling and secrets finally out in the open.

Isaac and Jack shared one weekend together which changed their lives completely. Both used fake names and both were hiding secrets about their families. When Jack leaves Isaac heartbroken they both thought they would never see each other again. But boy were they wrong.
Fast forward 5 years and when Jack’s family receives threats Jack is sent to stay with the Hawke family for her own protection. Little does she realise that a member of that family is Nolan the man who changed her life forever.
What follows is a story of secrets, betrayal, danger and uncovering truths that will change everyone’s lives forever.
Even thought the feelings a passion is there still Isaac is wary however he knows Jack is the woman for him and whether she likes it or not she will be is. He will stop at nothing to protect her from the threat against her and also the threat that may come from a source closer to home.

Jack thought she was protecting Isaac all those years ago by leaving and not looking back. After all this time can she make Isaac understand her reasons for what she did and could he ever forgive her?
Now they have found each other again can they finally be happy or will the dangers waiting for them prove to be too much.

I was so invested in these characters. My heart cried for them both at parts and left me wanting to bang their heads together in others. I can’t wait to see what else the Hawke Family have in store for us

Who doesn’t love a secret baby story? Add in the Hawke family and you have a great story.
This is the second generation series so it’s not necessary to read the Hawke family series (but I recommend it highly! )
We meet these 2 in their quick prequel and now we get their story, with their identities this time! And wow what a read this was!
I don’t give spoilers so I won’t give anything away or ruin any part of this story, but wow the chemistry here was enough to melt my Kindle.
Must read!

Ruthless Hawke (The Hawke Family Second Generation Book 1)Ruthless Hawke by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ruthless Hawke continues on with the story of Jack and Nolan, who we were first introduced to in Night Hawke. The two of them spent a wild and steamy weekend together but neither realized at the time that the other was not using their real name. Both must reluctantly return to the lives they spent the weekend escaping from but none more so than Jack who seems to be on the run from someone or something. Once the weekend is over Jack flees from the hotel room and the last thing Nolan sees is Jack getting into a car.

Fast forward five years and Isaac Hawke, AKA Nolan, has moved on with his life but has never forgotten the woman of his dreams. He has become successful in his family’s business and has a reputation for being ruthless both in and out of the courtroom. He is a man who will do anything to protect his family. Isaac is naturally surprised when he walks into his office one morning and the long-lost woman of his dreams is standing there.

Giacomina, AKA Jack, has been whisked away in the middle of the night by her father and brought to his friends, the Hawke’s, office in New Orleans. Jack’s father asks for the Hawke’s to protect his daughter, and his four-year-old granddaughter, Viviana. Jack is shocked when she sees Isaac walk into the office and is as equally shocked to learn that his name is not Nolan.

Both Isaac and Jack want to ask the other a ton of questions, but neither can act as though they know the other. To do so, would put Isaac’s own life at risk. Isaac knows immediately after looking into Viviana’s beautiful blue eyes that this is his daughter and immediately feels angered that he has not been told he has a daughter. However, he must wait until he can get Jack alone to question her because there is too much at stake for both of them to do otherwise. Isaac sees his chance to do so by offering for Jack and Viviana to stay with him. That gives him the opportunity to protect them from whatever danger is lurking out there that is intent on destroying them as well as ask Jack about why she ran off and where she has been all these years.

This book has passion, love, betrayal, chemistry, drama, banter and twists and turns. The chemistry between Jack and Isaac is undeniable and unforgettable. Isaac is fierce and powerful when it comes to the lengths that he will go to in order to keep those he loves safe and out of harm’s way. Jack is full of secrets and has led a life that has left her sheltered from the outside world. Due to the line of business that her parents are in they have kept her protected which has left Jack feeling stifled and more like a prisoner than a daughter. Love this book and the Hawke family! Great read!

Another book in the line of Hawke series, and one of my favorites so far! Isaac and Jack meet in the short story “Night Hawke” for the first time. Coming back together in this story, after thinking they’d lost each other forever, is amazing! And with some new surprises in tow! When the Hawke family is tasked with protecting the daughter of an old friend, Isaac comes in contact with the woman he’s been looking for for five years. And now she’s here, with a surprise! Isaac finds himself and his place in life while Jack finally gets a chance to pick how her life will go. Read this book if you love romance, action, and a great story! Definitely one of my favorite books so far!

Ruthless Hawke (The Hawke Family Second Generation Book 1)Ruthless Hawke by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the second book I have read by the incredible Gwyn McNamee, the first being the prequel to this book, Night Hawke. While it is not necessary to read the prequel it gives a more in depth understanding to Isaac and Jack’s relationship, and what made there reentering each other’s life so intense. Ruthless Hawke picks up five years to the day from the events in Night Hawke, in that time both Isaac and Jack have continued to dream of that weekend, the connection they shared and the what ifs. Finally learning the truth of who Jack is also put into perspective her reservations on sharing any information in the prequel about her identity. In the matter of just a few weeks Jack’s life is yanked out from under her and flipped on its head.
Valentina Marconi, the Italian mob Donne in Chicago, Cutter Jackson, ruthless killer and her right-hand man, also loving married couple and parents to Giacomina “Jack” and grandparents to her daughter Viviana. Jack dreamed for years of finding her “Nolan” and telling him about their daughter but gave up when it seemed an impossible feat. Isaac scoured Chicago in the days after the perfect weekend trying to find any information about his mysterious perfect woman Jack. Valentina faced with an impossible decision, give her daughter over to Satriano, the most powerful Italian mob boss or turn him into an enemy. Her father whisks Jack and her daughter away to New Orleans, to his old military buddy Gabe, and his family to protect his girls. Isaac just finishing court receives a text from Gabe saying family emergency and rushes back to the office only to stop dead in his tracks. Fate, destiny, serendipity something was at work and after all this time had brought them back together. Jack overwhelmed by seeing the blue eyes that have haunted her all these years. Isaac overwhelmed by seeing the woman that stole his soul all those years ago in his father’s office he is rattled to his core. Little did he know the hits would keep on coming in the form of a beautiful little girl with the Hawke Caribbean blue eyes, his eyes staring back at him in his office. Anger, fury, desire, pain. All rush through him in an instant but one thing is for sure he will do anything and everything in his power to protect his girls from every threat.
Will Isaac succeed at keeping them safe? Can Jack let go of all of her fear and live in the feelings, let herself have something she wants? If they win, will Jack and Vivi return to Chicago or stay with Isaac? The world the author creates is realistic, with a touch of fated mates to it. The pain they both went through in the years since they met, brought them to the point they are in now. Makes them learn to appreciate every moment and to fight the fear for something deeper. I can’t wait to read book 2 in the 2nd Generation of the Hawke Family, Reticent Hawke, June 1st, 2023. The mystery of Jude will finally be revealed.

Well one of our favorite authors has brought back our favorite family!!! What a great story!
There is a prequel, Night Hawke, to get the juices flowing and to remind the reader just how much we love the Hawkes, as if we forgot! You definitely want to read it first.

Ruthless Hawke is all about Jack and Nolan’s paths crossing again and in the most unexpected way. The time that they have been apart has not dimmed their feelings at all! Tension, angst and hotness oh my!

The alpha, protective, hard headed, stubborn, loving, family we love, steps up to protect those closest to them. The discovery of the newest Hawke ramps up the danger and the protection even more.

This story makes references to the original family but does not deter from the current story. If anything, it feels like a family reunion with all the joy, fun, danger, and love we have come to expect from the Hawke family. This story has everything and is completely worth the wait!

Ruthless Hawke is the first book in The Hawke Second Generation Series and holy cow what a ride. I knew going in I was going to love this book ,I’m a huge fan of the Hawke Family and looks like second generation as well. Her books are packed with action, drama, some suspense and just enough sizzle to keep you turning the pages. We met Jack and Isaac in tbe prequel so we had a idea of what was going on but dang I wasn’t totally expecting the story to explode off the pages. These two wow! I don’t want to give away anything. I highly recommend reading this book I can promise you won’t be disappointed I know I sure wasn’t. I look forward to many many more books by this author.

What can I say…amazing! The author comes back with this second generation and captivates the reader with action, drama, and steam! I was enthralled with the story and, as always, the character development, relationship development, and world building was outstanding.

I loved the teaser given before this book and picking up in their story to see how their worlds collide and intertwine. Jack and Isaac’s story is unique and makes for an interesting read full of twists and turns. Isaac will stop at nothing to protect Jack and his daughter Vivi, but can work out in the end?

If you’re looking for a fast-paced, steamy read, this one is for you! I can’t wait to read more of this new generation (pick up the first generation of you haven’t already too)!

Although you don’t have to read the prequel I definitely suggest you do to get more insight on the history between Jack and Isaac, and where those events led to this book. The Passion and heat between Jack and Isaac is tangible even after all those years apart. And with Dom gone you get to see what other mobsters took his place And with one bad guy down another Looms and the shadows over the hawk family. Isaac is a lot like his father ( more ways than one AHAHAHA )and I love how the author puts in certain personal issues that makes the characters seem more realistic and relatable to us nomads. Also the action will have your heart pumping and trying to quickly read to get to the next page To see what happens next, And boy is the next page you’d better than last.
I love love love seeing all the OG characters being parents And saying where their kids landed the rest of the stories I cannot wait till June For the next book. Counting the days.

PS. That scene at the grandma’s house was hilarious to me. Lmao awkward

Great characters, a story that keeps me turning the pages, and a world that I just can’t get enough of. Lucky for me I can go back and read about the first generation of the Hawke family. But back to this amazing book. When Issac and Jack met five years earlier, they never knew what would come that weekend. It’s been five years since they last saw each other and there is so much they have to say. I was ecstatic when I found out that the author was writing a second generation series. I have loved reading about the Hawkes since the beginning. Jack and Isaac have a lot of feelings and outside problems that they have to work through. Ruthless Hawke (The Hawke Family Second Generation Book 1)Ruthless Hawke by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ruthless Hawke is a Second Generation Hawke Family Novel. Although you don’t NEED to read the others to read this one, I personally would recommend reading the other series first. You will know most of the family and their back stories more coming into this one that way. BUT you CAN read it as a stand alone.
The Hawke’s New Orleans empire has only grown over the years and so has the family. Children are older and into different parts of the businesses. You have to be ruthless in this town, business, and for this family. Isaac does just that in the courthouse or where ever else it’s needed, including the streets! Their family has suffered enough and it is on him to do what it takes to keep it all safe. There is something fishy going on though! This weird company covered by shell companies has been popping up messing with their family’s businesses. The mob is at their doors, again! And now a woman from his past shows up and throws his world upside down. Mina aka Jack is sick of being dragged around and always in the dark. Sneaking out once, 5 years ago was the best and worst night of her life. But now that past is being thrown back at her at the worst of times. The universe must be laughing at her! She’s not sure what to tell him about the past, but with Hawke blues eyes staring them both in the face Isaac and Jack must figure out a LOT of things and fast!. Five minutes can change your whole world. Now Isaac must defend not only his family and it’s empire, but also what’s his. With threats all around, what will this family go through next?! Can they finally get this other company out of the way? And what about the mob? Again?! A war in New Orleans will defiantly be bad for not only their family but their businesses too. Boy oh boy do you need to read this book!! And all the other sets!! I can’t wait to read more!!! And I just learned of another! I am so hooked!! You will not be disappointed in this book, the series, or any of the other Hawke series!

Ruthless Hawke (The Hawke Family Second Generation Book 1)Ruthless Hawke by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Where do you start with this book? The chemistry between Jack and Isaac is palpable through the pages. The action is spine tingling. The drama is and the feels are so nerve wracking. That scene with Vivi and Emilio, I wanted to punch him so bad. The family bond is so sweet and yet, suffocating.

After an amazing graduation weekend in Chicago, Isaac returned to the Big Easy and family business missing the woman who captivated his heart, body and soul. Maybe he should have told her his real name. Now it is five years later and a long-time family friend is asking for a favor, to protect his daughter and granddaughter.

Five years after the best weekend of her life gave her the best gift in her life, Giacomina “Jack” is spirited away to New Orleans to be protected by her father’s friends during a family crisis. Upon walking into the office, Jack finds an older version of the man that gave her Viviana. Then meets Isaac. Imagine Isaac’s surprise when he sees Jack and then his own eyes on a little girl. But Jack’s arrival brings danger with her. Now Isaac must risk himself and his family’s plans to protect Jack and their future together.

Between the action, the drama, the steam, the heat, and the banter, this book is unputdownable. If this is where you are starting your journey with this family, that is fine. You will find that it is easy to catch up. And will only make you want to binge read EVERYTHING!!! Pull up your chair at Nana’s table for Sunday dinner, all Hawkes family members welcome!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

After “Night Hawke” left you on a cliffhanger, of sorts, it was totally worth it for “Ruthless Hawke”. I really loved book one in this series. This book starts 5 years after ‘Night Hawke’ with Issac (aka Nolan) in court working for his family’s businesses as their lawyer. After court that day he gets an emergency text from the family to get over to his dad’s office. On the other side of the story, Mina (aka Jack) is on her way to New Orleans to “hide” with a family friend of her father’s that she has never met. Her mother is Donne in Chicago and threats have been made against the family. Until the threat is handled they want Mina in a place no one would look. While not trying to give too much away, you come to see very quickly how Nolan and Jack will reunite after these 5 years. Two people who have been obsessed with each other, in their own minds, but never thought they will ever see each other again are now going to be emotionally jolted. The man she has been dreaming about is now her protector. Needless to say, Issac is pretty pissed after how they parted, but there are many complications coming their way. Can Issac handle being around this woman who has haunted him for so long, and can he keep her safe from this threat? Will the secrets the two have been keeping come out and affect the situation? Will they be able to keep their hands off each other? It is definitely a great story projected just what a small world it is out there.
I really enjoyed this book. I thought the plot was fast-moving and interesting, the characters were loveable, and the surprises along the way were great. As for the characters, these two together are just magic on paper. Issac is a confident, over-protective, possessive (in an endearing way), smart, and overall sexy character. Mina is a strong, but shelter woman. She hasn’t been given much freedom in her life, but she still is a dreamer, realist, creative, talented female character. The two have great chemistry even when they are fighting. The intimate scenes, while it is mainly a plot-driven book, are amazing. He is a dirty talker which helps you truly visualize the aspects that are happening between the two of them. The one thing that was a little difficult is that there are a lot of characters introduced and it was really hard to keep track, but props to the writer she kind of include the difficulty in the characters remembering family too. I am excited to read other books that come out in this series.

I loved the prequel to this book telling how Isaac and Mina met, so I was not surprised at all that I enjoyed this book too! The first book in the series jumps five years into the future from where the prequel left off, when Isaac and Mina met he was “Nolan” and she was “Jack” now they know who the other truly is and, surprise there was a baby produced from that first meeting so many years ago. Gwyn Mcname’s ability to tell a story that sucks you in and steals your ability to put her book down is wonderful, I love books that keep me vested!

This is the first book in the series of the 2nd generation of Hawkes. It does NOT disappoint!!!! I absolutely devoured this book in one sitting! I couldn’t put it down. While it is not needed to read the first generation, I definitely suggest to. It will give you an intense amount of back story of most of the characters in the book. Why they act a certain way, or do things a little odd.

Issac and Mina are 🔥🔥🔥 . I recommend reading the prequel, but if you’d like you definitely can just jump right in to this book. I absolutely LOVE their chemistry. Everything about them is electric. This may very well be my favorite book from Gwyn McNamee. Issac may be hard on the outside, but he is ALWAYS loyal to his family. He will do absolutely anything to protect them.

Mina and Issac had a weekend together 5 years ago, neither have ever been able to forget the other. But, unfortunately they weren’t able to find eachother since they both gave fake names. After Mina’s family is in danger, she is sent to live with the Hawkes, a family friend of her father’s. Fate brought them back together, but it won’t be so simple to just be together. There are many complications now, and they will fight their attraction until it’s impossible to ignore.

I definitely recommend reading this book & any of the others in this series or the 1st generation Hawkes!

Isaac Hawke is back home in New Orleans and still thinks of the girl Jack he had the most incredible weekend with. Having used all his resources to find her all her remembers is the head in the back of the black car driving away into the distance.

Five years on and he still wonders until one day after a rather bad day in court he is summoned by his Uncle Gabe to help with a situation they had and will be helping out a friend, as he arrives into his uncle’s office he hairs stand on end and sitting on a chair in his Uncle’s office is Jack after all these year’s.

Giacomina Jackson – Marconi aka Jack is from a brutal family, her mother the head of the Marconi Mob and her father a well assassin for hire. She has lived her life in a castle of security and fear of something happening to her but that one night she slipped away from her security and walked into the arms of NOLAN her world fell away and she saw what she could have, until the faithful morning when her father had tracked her and threatened to kill the man she was with, that’s why she left him chasing after her in the street.

As she sees Nolan aka Isaac again there is a secret even, she now can’t keep, they only thing is does he still want her, and can he forgive her for the secret she is keeping.

I loved the first generation books in this series and oh my the secondary generation come out with a bang. I did read the prequel to this book which gives you the history between Jack and Nolan but I don’t think this is a must to read to start the series. The characters are brilliantly, and I loved the feisty nature of Jack, and the heartbreak Isaac went through understanding what had gone in. The secondary characters are also brilliant and love to see how the dynamics of the family and extended family work.

The story was well written and had suspense and drama which you associate with this family and can’t wait to read the next book in this instalment.

Ruthless Hawke (The Hawke Family Second Generation Book 1) by Gwyn McNamee – Review by Michelle Mulvey

Ruthless Hawke (The Hawke Family Second Generation Book 1)Ruthless Hawke by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is the whole package. There was nothing missing. I absolutely loved it from the very first page. When these two characters come face to face they’re no denying anything. The Hawkes are being put in charge of keeping Mina and her daughter safe from a credible threat.
Everyone falls for Mina and Viv right away. Especially Isaac.
Cannot wait to see where else the author goes with this series. Looking forward to more

Ruthless Hawke (The Hawke Family Second Generation Book 1) by Gwyn McNamee – Review by Stephanie Chapman

Ruthless Hawke (The Hawke Family Second Generation Book 1)Ruthless Hawke by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Mina’s mother, Valentina, has made enemies with the Santriano mob, and her father, Cutter, has decided that Mina should stay in New Orleans with the Hawke family. Mina is frustrated and packs bags for Vivianna, her four-year-old daughter, and herself.
Vivianna arrives at the Hawke law firm and is placed in Isaac Hawke’s office. Mina notices that Stone Hawke looks similar to someone from her past, but Isaac’s entrance eliminates any doubts.
Isaac and Mina used the false names Nolan and Jack to spend a weekend together in Chicago, but Mina left a message and snuck away as her father picked her up. Isaac tried to find her but ended up going home to New Orleans. When he sees Jack, he is shocked to learn that he is the father of Vivianna, a fact that Mina has not revealed to anyone.
Isaac volunteers his condo for Mina and Vivianna to stay in but is upset that Mina has not told him he is a father. Mina tries to reason with him, but he feels like he has missed important parts of his daughter’s life. How are they going to tell Vivianna that he is her father?
The Hawke family is having difficulty building a hotel due to their competitor, Falco, using their brand. Isaac decides to hire a private investigator to obtain incriminating photographs of Broussard, one of the zoning board members, accepting a bribe from Falco’s attorney.
Isaac wants to protect Mina and be involved in Vivianna’s upbringing, but Mina believes he doesn’t want to
be a father. Isaac is aware that Mina doesn’t really want to stay in New Orleans, but he still wants to find out if she felt like he did when they were in Chicago.
I found it amazing that Issac and Mina were reunited for the exact reason that Mina abandoned him. I loved the family dynamics between the Hawkes, especially with how quickly they accepted Mina and Vivianna. Vivianna was quite mature and yet her resilience is exactly how a 4-year-old should be.
