Hard as Steel: Book four by Virginia Wine
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Hard as Steel is the fourth book in the Surviving Series by Virginia Wine. The love and suspense start off at the beginning and don’t stop.

This was one of those books I had a very hard time putting down. I even laid in bed reading it with a migraine just to avoid putting it down.

I’ve had a crush on Steel since we first met him in the second book and the crush has grown to point that I might be in love. He is a take control guy who knows what he wants. Totally swoon worthy.

This was just a great story overall and I’m ready to read the fifth and I’m guessing final book. I really hope we get more of Will’s story and hope he ended up where he is now.

5-stars

Hard as Steel is a truly phenomenal read! It’s the fourth book in the Surviving Series by Virginia Wine and my favorite of the series so far. I would suggest reading this series in order and not as a standalone. Form the very beginning Steel was my favorite, he was mysterious, powerful, successful and always brooding and I couldn’t wait to dive into his story!

Steel’s story is intense, action-packed, twisted, emotional and heart wrenching. I read it in one sitting as I couldn’t bring myself to put it down. I was so intrigued by Grace’s case and I couldn’t wait to find out what happened, and not once did I see that ending coming, which made it so entertaining!
I would absolutely recommend this series to others!

Hard as Steel by Virginia Wine is book four of the Surviving series. This series should be read in order to get the full story. Many of the characters are ongoing and overlap from previous books. This book is intended for readers 18+ due to some content. This book has quite a bit of suspense, I found myself reading quicker just to see what would happen.

Steel Archer is like the ultimate alpha. He protects what matters to him and those he cares for. He’s the strong, silent, independent type. Steel has walls around his heart but he may have met his match in Nicole Lancaster. That is until he works a job that has him helping Grace. Grace is a lost soul and romance may not be in the picture for her in the near future. Who will be Steel’s match?

There is so much emotion in this book. It is written so well you can’t help but feel what the characters feel. I can’t wait to see what the rest of this series holds.

Hard As Steel is the 4th instalment in the awesome Surviving series by Virginia Wine. Each book can be read as a stand-alone. As characters from previous books make an appearance in subsequent books and the fact that this series is so damn good, I would recommend that you read all the books in the series, and in order, to get the most enjoyment from the series.
In Hard As Steel we get the story of ex-army, now member of PI Securities Steel Archer and FBI agent Nichole Lancaster. We are introduced to these 2 characters in a previous book and you always knew that if they got their own book it would be hot and fiery, and by God it certainly lived up to my expectations.
As well as the fiery budding romance between the 2, this book has so much going on. There is a very detailed and intricate plot that will keep you gripped. This book pretty much has it all, it’s a hard hitting story with a great deal of intrigue and suspense and you won’t want to put it down.
In this book we are introduced to Grace, a beautiful young woman with a harrowing story to tell. The next, and final, book in this series will concentrate more on Grace’s story and I can’t wait to read it.

Hard as Steel was a great 5 star read and book four in the Surviving Series.

I was pulled in right from the beginning, my heart when out to the poor girl that Steel finds. He calls in Nick to help. They call the mystery girl Grace for now until they can find out who she is.
The things this poor girl endured just breaks your heart.

What story could be told from my injuries, in some twisted way the cuts and bruises may indeed be my salvation.

Steel works for PI Securities and is ex military. Nichole (Nick) is an FBI agent. Nick and Steel work together to try and find out where Grace came from and who was behind all of the abuse.
Steel and Nick also have quite the attraction between them. They are both really strong characters but when they finally give into their attraction we get some very hot and steamy moments.

Will Steel and Nick find out who hurt Grace?

There is romance, suspense and so much more. Be prepared for some twists and turns, I was on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what was going on. Virginia Wine does a great job with her writing, you feel everything that the characters are going through and I loved it. All of the secondary characters added a great element to the story. I can’t wait to read more from this series. 1-click and get started today on this great series.

This series literally gets better with each book! Hard as Steel follows Steel and Nick as they navigate a case and their budding attraction for each other. Grace is a young girl that has managed to escape from horrors but has no memory of what happened to her. Running into Steel was a stroke of luck on her part as him and his partner Flynn stop at nothing to help her. This book has the drama and the action that seem to define Viriginia Wine’s books. She has quickly become a favorite author of mine.

I loved Steel Archer! He’s one of those male characters that will do anything and everything for those he loves! Then we have Nicole Lancaster who is an FBI agent and used to men in the world of her work. The chemistry is intense between these two and the story is UN FREAKING BELIEVABLE!!!

This story is definitely dark and has its twists and turns. I love a book that keeps you guessing. These two had their work cut out for them but they’re story was phenomenal! Everyone needs this series!

Hard as Steel is book four in the Surviving series. This story can be read as a standalone. After reading the first 3 books in this series, I can say that this story takes a darker twist than the others. There are a few characters in this story along with different situations for each person. The situation Grace finds herself in could be triggers for some readers. Flynn’s protectiveness is greater than anything. While Nic and Steel have a working relationship, a respect for each other, and an attraction they have been fighting for a while.

Author Virginia Wine has created another great story with great characters. This storyline took my breath away as I read it as fast as I could.

This story is definitely worth reading.

Content warning: Contains adult content, language, and scenes that may not be suitable for all audiences.

Hard as Steel is the book four in the Surviving Series by Virginia Wine and this book is not a read alone story as the characters do carry from the previous books. I love the way Ms. Wine writes her characters as if they are my friends in real life. I was pulled into this story from the first paragraph until the last word. Hard as Steel has some adult content that may not be for everyone and I found myself having some trouble getting through a couple of scenes but I am glad I did not give up. On the other hand there is some good times as well, there is mystery, love, comedy, suspense and romance. I recommend reading this story especially if you have read the other books.

In the dark where monsters live, a dark story flourishes to life, born of wicked intent and evil power.

A warning of sorts, sinister actions threaten the innocent and rob them of their virtue.

Steel Archer, with his commanding charisma and keen focus captivated his platoon. He had been to battle and tasted the sand of the desert war. No one understood, how could they? The adrenaline buzz, the anticipation, the planning and preparation that came with each mission fed his mind, body, and soul. It was addicting until it all went wrong, men died.
His men.

But now that was all behind him. PI- Securities firm was where he landed and his reputation for questionable methods of persuasion, worked to his advantage.

“I’d been told I had a calm about me. But don’t be fooled, undermining my power would be foolish. I saw myself as a wild predator who lived life on the razors edge.”

His good looks and intensity rolling off in waves. Years of training banishing any trace of emotion. Every muscle in his body instinctively warning him, like a sixth sense of what’s to come. Foreseeing the enemy’s next move is far more primal, instinctive, and raw than most believe.

“There’s never been room for a life outside my profession. Certainly not a woman, that’s a liability I can’t afford to indulge in. “

Until he met his match.

This book was a great read. The story I found to be full of twists and turns. I was constantly trying to guess as to who was behind it all. I was wrong every time. The book draws you in straight away and keeps you hooked.
The characters work really well together. I could feel the alpha male vibe coming from Steel from the moment I read the blurb. This book was very enjoyable and I will certainly be going back to look at the rest on the series.

Hard as Steel may be book four in a series, but I was able to read it as a stand alone. Steel and Nichole are falling for one another, while working on a disturbing case. The love story part of this is easy, but the real interest lies in the mystery girl who has to recover her memories. Those parts were my favorite. The action and suspense really pick up near the end, and I could see myself reading the next book. The only thing that kept this from 5 stars was that the writing and grammar were choppy or a little rough at times. But I loved the poems throughout.

Hard as Steel: Book four (“Surviving Series”) By Virginia Wine. This story is beyond amazing. From the first few pages I was completely hooked and couldn’t put it down! The author writes with such incredible emotion and attention to details. And the characters are out of this world good, you connect with each one so wholeheartedly that you forget you’re reading a book. Steel and Nicole have this compatibility that draws you into their story and refuses to let you go. This story has a bit of everything from romance to suspense/mystery. The twists and turns kept me guessing. It’s well written and paced nicely, never felt rushed or lacking anything. I’m excited to read more by this author. I’m giving this book a five star review and highly recommend it to everyone.

My Rating: 4 of 5 stars

Hard as Steel: Book four (“Surviving Series”) by Virginia Wine was a intense, gripping read, that had me hooked.

My first read by this author and for this series, yes again I have not followed a series from the start, and I will say, that though this reads as a standalone, there was missing background info that made me feel like this was more of a connecting storyline, then a actual standalone. There seems to be overlapping characters that I lost out on, and there are some things I didn’t quite catch, so word to the wise, don’t be like me, start this series from the beginning.

Told in multi POV, we get many different voices and angles of this story. I do like the multi POV for these types of action/mysteries. It gives you a better sense of what’s going on, and when done right, adds to the tension and mystique. I will say that though this was very will done, the writing was a little, choppy and, I didn’t know at times whose voice I was reading. It was like a quick cut, done with no defined brake to let me know a POV had changed. A good fixed is to add the characters name at the top, or simply have a clear defined brake, like adding special characters, or a triple space between paragraphs.

Overall this book was quite the read. It had depth, and a strong multi layered plot that really drew you in. The added romance was a plus, but the mystery and the way the two MC’s come together really made this story shine. Warning, there is some feel kickers in here, so be prepared.

With that being said, I will leave you with my high recommendation and my stamp of approval.

Happy Reading.

This is the first book I’ve read by the author and I really wish I had read the others in the series first. I was a little frustrated at first trying to figure out who was who and how they connected. It was like opening a book to the middle with no introduction. Once I figured stuff out, I was ready.

Nichole and Steel have a past, their characters have developed over time and they seem to have a trust and inner language that each other understands. They surround themselves with people they can trust because each knows what happens when you trust someone you shouldn’t. They are both Alphas with their strength and fortitude.

This is a fantastic suspense/romance that is so twisty and twisted I was gobsmacked a few times about how wrong I was with what I thought was going on.

A few tips with this story:

DON’T SKIM – there are a lot of twists and turns and there are words that are very important to the story.
DON’T ASSUME – I caught myself relaxing a few times thinking I knew what was going to happen.
DON’T MISS BOOKS 1-3 – Honestly, I went into this book blind and when I realized I had missed so much background, I went and read reviews on the previous books in the series. Those reviews that recap the entire book so I could be comfortable with this one.

Hard as Steel is the fourth book in Virginia Wine’s Surviving series. This is my first encounter with the writer and I have to confess that I fell for her, hook, line, and sinker from page 1! The way she pulls you in … the way she paints the picture in your head … I had chills going down my arms! I know I should have read the first books before picking up this one but heck, I can do it now (they are all on KU so I will be utilizing it to its fullest this month!)!
This is the story of Steel Archer, an ex-military who is working with PI Securities, and Nicole Lancaster who is an experienced FBI Agent committed to her career and climbing the ladder with another promotion in sight … And then they pick up a case – a broken young woman, who walked out of the shadows … she pulls them both in and the journey through ever present danger commences!
This story … it is so multi layered … and luckily there were plenty of flashbacks that helped the story along … these flashbacks … the way the writer paints the picture … you can just close your eyes and you are there … feeling …
I loved how the writer used different point of views to tell the story, it made it so real and intimate … pick up a copy and I promise, you will want to go back like me and read the first three as well! AND I cannot wait for the continuation of the story of that young broken girl I met on page one!

Hard as Steel is Book 4 in the Surviving Series from author Virginia Wine. This book has romance, suspense and mystery from the start. I was captivated and thoroughly enjoyed this read from the start.
Even though these reads can be read as a stand-alone personally I did find that I felt I was missing bits of information that I could have got if I had read the previous three in this series, but nevertheless this book has given me a brilliant introduction into Virginia Wine’s writing style, plots and captivating characters.

You cannot dispute how intense this read is whether that’s from the twists and turns that are thrown our way throughout, the steamy scenes or the guessing game you play in which you keep losing because the author always has to keep you guessing with new clues.
Steel and Nicole our two main characters have an amazing chemistry, but is what these two develop enough to break the wall that Nicole has built so high? Or keep the calmness that Steel needs in his life?
I love that this book was told from various POV’s it gives us the opportunity to really understand each character, their thoughts and feelings and also their actions, it definitely brings you closer to each character.

Overall this is a brilliant book that has opened up the chance to experience a new author her work, and the rest of the books in this series! With the rest of the secondary characters within this read, I can’t wait for them to get their own story to tell!
Don’t miss this read!

This is the first book that I have read by this author so obviously I read this as a standalone – I definitely think I would have benefited from reading the previous books in the series however I quickly read through the reviews so I kind of had an idea of what had happened previously. I enjoyed the story, I thought the characters were complex which meant I had to work a little harder to understand them, so it wasn’t a particularly easy read but I kind of liked that about the book. There were some good plot twists that definitely meant that I was constantly guessing what was going to happen next. The author’s writing was rich and detailed and I could really feel those emotional times coming across well. Whilst I didn’t connect with the characters, Steel and Nicole, as much as I thought I would or wanted to I did enjoy reading their story. I would definitely like to read more from this author and this series again in the future.

Hard as Steel is book four in the Surviving Series by Virginia Wine. This is the first book O have read by this author and would have benefited by reading the other books in the series, just to get a better handle on the characters. The way this author writes a story is well thought out, detailed and emotional.

Steel’s job as a private investigator keeps him too busy for a relationship. But that comes to an abrupt end when he meets an unforgettable woman. It is a delicate battle of wills and denial. An extremely entertaining battle, amd only with one outcome.

I really liked Hard as Steel and struggled to put it down. It was an action packed adventure. 4 stars.

3 and a half stars for this one. When I read the blurb I was convinced the story is about Steel and Nikki. How Steel is such an alpha male obsessed with his job when Nikki comes along but tries to keep her away as she can be a distraction. I was expecting that pull, the banter, his inner struggle but we got none of that. However I found myself more interested in Grace’s story and her past and what’s going on with Flynn. Those parts had the premises of a good psychological thriller that I didn’t even care at that point how the relationship between Steel and Nikki develops. I didn’t see them as main characters.

I understand this book is part of a series however a bit of a introduction of what’s going on would have been amazing and made this book possible to be read like a standalone. Without that, I felt I am missing important bits and made Steel and Nikki’s story hard to follow.

This is quite the interesting story that has many levels. It’s book four of the series and it might help to read the others first. Not mandatory because I have not read them but probably helpful because these seem to be ongoing stories. This one is about Nick and Steel. With a few other characters that have a story of their own to tell.

I enjoyed reading this. At first I felt like I was thrust into a story already in progress. But that quickly changed to one I could easily follow along. I liked the characters. The passion Steel felt for Nick was easily conveyed through words. Steel is intense and that scene where they (Steel and Nick) are dancing is so….so…hot! All the secondary characters filled their rolls well. Will added a bit of fun to the story. This is a suspenseful story with a little dark side and has some deep romance.

Hard as Steel: Book four (“Surviving Series”) by Virginia Wine is a romance suspense story and a page turner. I enjoyed this complex and layered tale and liked the characters but wished I had started at the beginning of the series with book one. I felt like I was missing out on very important background information in relation to the characters and their worlds. The plus is that the story is told in multiple POV’s which does give you that much more insight to the characters and who they are and what they are thinking. It was a bit of an emotional read and some broke my heart as the flashbacks told by a tragically tortured soul. Hard as Steel by Virginia Wine is the fourth book in her Surviving Series and what a great read this turned out to be. Following the story of Steel Archer, who is a strong independent man who will do anything for the people the he loves. While this story is a dark and twisted, it does have some elements of romance and suspense. Getting hooked from the first page I couldn’t put this book down until I knew how it was going to end. Seeing a man like Steel fall for Nicole Lancaster, who is an FBI agent used to the boys’ club of Steel’s world, was such a treat. These two together were such fire that it all but gave me a stroke the chemistry between them. Both of them were so independent and determined to best the other that when they gave in to their feelings it made the story just explode. Getting to see the softer side of Steel made him feel so much more human that I fell for him on the spot. Can these two make a real go of it or will the worlds that they live in pull them apart? Can Steel keep the woman that brings out the best of him? Can Nicole trust that Steel will be there when she needs him most? Hard as Steel is the first book by Virginia Wine that I have read, and I have now bought all of the books in this series to do a binge reading session. I love that each book can be read on its own and that they all tie together in the end. If you are looking for a great story that will heat you up and keep you intrigued from beginning to end, this is the book and series for you. Holy smokes Batman. This story was intense. Steel is a hard man but an honest and trustworthy person. He has a gift for helping others and it shows with this story. I’m sure I’m not the only one who makes the characters into couples as the story goes on. For me Steel and Grace seemed like a better fit. But too each their own. I really enjoyed this story though. The author held you in suspense with every chapter. This predator out to get Grace, murder, love and trust. Grace has had to relearn to function and she is so courageous. Nick is super sweet and I understand her appeal. It was a quick read that was thrilling and mysterious. I got a good feel for the characters. I could easily follow what the author was going for in this book. Life isn’t always roses and we have to learn to live with the good and bad.

Steel Archer is ex military, hard as nails and working for a PI Securities but with his past is full of skeletons and devastation that haunts him constantly, but when a young women enters his world looking for help, Nicole’s and Steel’s collide. Will both their lives change to help a young broken woman?

This is the first book I have read by this author and I feel that although I loved the story, their was bits missing in the backstory of the other books. I would recommend reading the series in order and then I feel you have a better understanding of the story, but this did not distract from the story of Nicole and Steel.

The writing was fasted paced and with the twists and turns of the story has you reading on, I loved the different prospective of the characters and the relationships that grow as the story goes on. I would love to go back and read the rest of the series to see how this series grows.
