Unveiling Beulah Audiobook by Dana Wayne – Review by Ashley Hasting

Bea Lockhart is a woman you do not mess with. She may be shy and conscious about her scar, but she is a smart business woman. She leaves her Father’s Mercantile in New York to have her own store and love in Texas. There she meets Lucian, once from New York, but ran from an engagement he didn’t agree to. The rest is there to listen to. Lots of friendship, family drama, romance, and even threats here and there.

Unveiling Beulah Audiobook by Dana Wayne – Review by Kerry Baker

This book is one of those that took me by surprise. I was sure that I would enjoy it but I didn’t expect to be drawn into the story the way I was. As I listened to the story being narrated I could so easily imagine everything that was happening. I was really interested in the main character as well. She was so strong and really seemed to carry the story.

I definitely became more invested in this story than I expected and I through it was a great book. I am looking forward to more work from  this author.

This is the second book have listened by this author. She really has great details for historical romances. B. and Luke make a great couple. I absolutely love grandpa and the uncles. The story flowed and I really didn’t want it to end.
This book was narrated by Katie Marchant. I’m going to be looking for more books narrated by her. Katie’s voice is very mellow and soothing. Excellent listen. I highly recommend!

Historical Romance is fast becoming one of my favorite genre’s. And this exceptional listen definitely contributed to it.
Physically and emotionally scared Bea decides to go to Texas to pave her own path away from the New York social scene. There she meets this strapping (always wanted to use that word) gentleman, who unbeknownst to her also fled the New York society.
Together the heal each other’s scars.
What more could you ask from a love story!!! What made this such a great book was the amazing character development and the authors extraordinary writing style.

Perfect Read!!!!

Aloha Series Box Set Books 1-3 by Jill Brashear

This is the first series I’ve read by the author. Try Easy, Try Me, and Try Right are the books in the series. Each can be read as a standalone, but they’re better all together. Each book is better than the last.

Try Easy (Aloha Series #1)

Keoni is a native Hawaiian and he is stuck picking up two people from the airport. When he sees one woman get off the plane he knows his heart is gone. Then Bones goes missing and reality crashes down on him. Going to Seattle and returning home without Lou. The quote I chose for Keoni is: “You deserve the best. I don’t know what I can give you.”

Lou goes to Hawaii for twelve days and isn’t really looking for a romance. She is leaving a great guy at home or at least she thinks he’s great. When she meets Keoni everything changes. She goes home, but she isn’t in it like she was before. The quote I chose for Lou is: “I don’t know anymore. I had my whole life planned out, then I met you. You weren’t supposed to happen. But when I thought I was going to die the only face I wanted to see was yours.”

Try Me (Aloha Series #2)

Declan is one of Keoni’s friends and he’s having a hard time dealing with the death of Eddie. Declan is having a hard time with his family. They don’t think he should be a surfer. The quote I chose for Declan is: “You were surfing. Not Sharp Park, but somewhere else. Somewhere in Hawaii, I think.”

Pearl has always had a thing for Declan. She doesn’t want to go after him since he’s a player. Then she ends up on the same flight as him. The quote I chose for Pearl is: “This job is for the birds. There’s a dozen out there better.”

Try Right (Aloha Series #3)

Claudia is Keoni’s ex and the one who broke his heart. She’s back and looking to reunite with him. Only she finds that he’s no longer single. She tries moving on only to find that she was part of a bet. The quote I chose for Claudia is: “I’m fine. Better get on with it. This might take a while to fix, and the show must go on.”

Henry is Penny’s cousin and is the one who gets Claudia into his bed. He knows that stuff happened between her and Keoni. He tries to make it work, but can he? The quote I chose for Henry is: “If you were really fighting for your life, you would want to bend your knee and give me a swift back kick to the groin.”

Highly recommended for Historical Romance lovers.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 Stars!

If I could give this story more stars I would… one of my favorite audio listens ever….This story is so incredibly beautiful between two people whom find each other in unexpected ways.

Bea Lockhart is shunned by her own family after an accident left Bea with a scar on her face….feeling like no one will love her she is hiding in the shadows of helping run her fathers business. Bea finds herself in a small town in Texas where she runs her own business, makes new friends who welcome her unconditionally and here she find Luc….her love. After a betrayal that led Luc to Texas to get away from his grandfather and an arranged marriage..Luc is a hardworking blacksmith and finds love and friendship with Bea. Will Bea and Luc find an everlasting love when the past comes to Texas and tries to destroy everything?

This story is beautiful and well written. I was totally into the narration from beginning to end. If you love a story with love and betrayal, I would highly recommend this listen….the narrator was fantastic as well and really brought the story to light. One of my favorite listens

Unveiling Beulah Audiobook by Dana Wayne – Review by Shelly Kittell

5 out of 5 stars

Beulah and Luke come together in a beautiful love story of two people with issues. They have both been hurt and have come to a small town in Texas, to try again. Beulah is a strong woman with lots of determination. Because she has a physical scar on her face, she tends to stay in the background. I do love how Luke makes her feel and helps her remember that she is a woman. Watching their relationship develop and grow is a treasure and truly makes this story a treat to listen to. The narration is pleasant but could stand a little more emotion and variation to it. Overall, I would recommend this story. This author has wonderful writing. Whether just the book or the added narration to it, the stories are always wonderful. You get an honest and realist feel to the story. Always engaging and keeping you wanting more.

She’s running from the past

But her soul cries out for more, making her easy prey for a handsome rogue who ultimately destroys her trust. Shattered, she flees to a small town in Texas.

He wants a family

Lucian Moreau was raised by his wealthy, unsympathetic grandfather. An educated world traveler, he had everything a man could want.

Except a family.

The Aloha Series Box Set (Books 1 – 3) by Jill Brashear – Review by Kelli Harper

Aloha Series Box Set Books 1-3Aloha Series Box Set Books 1-3 by Jill Brashear
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This series of 3 stories are all based in Hawaii. The first two books are about surfers and while I would have enjoyed getting Bones’s story in the third book. There was definitely a story to tell about Claudia and Henry in book 3.
Keoni and Mary Lou were up first in Try Easy and it is a very sweet story. The start as strangers and she is visiting Hawaii for 2 weeks then heading back home to her boyfriend and the plan they have for their lives.
Keoni is never going to allow himself to fall for a tourist. But life has a way of raising its head and showing you that you are wrong.

Book 2 Try Me is Declan and Pearl’s story, him a professional surfer and she is a cigarette girl and surfing is a passion of hers. Their story is a fake relationship tale, where they end up falling in love. Both characters have lost someone they love to the waves that they crave. Can they make it ?

Book 3 is Claudia and Henrys story. Claudia is a bit part actress just trying to get a big break and Henry is a stunt man. Their story is also set in Hawaii and is just as riviting as the other two stories in this series.

You will fall in love will all of the characters and their stories and it will keep you turning pages

This series is so good! I loved reading about Hawaii and the characters lives there. I absolutely adore Lou and all of her growth! I have to say she is probably my favorite character out of all three books. Honestly there is a lot of character growth in all of the books but Lou really stuck with me. The descriptions of Hawaii are absolutely amazing and make you feel as though you are there. I would love for Bones to have a story and to know if things go back to Penny. These stories are very well written and I definitely want to read more from this author! They have a really great and easy story telling style.

Aloha Series Box Set Books 1-3Aloha Series Box Set Books 1-3 by Jill Brashear
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This amazing book series allows you to travel to the Hawaiian islands, experience some whirlwind romances and live within the 1960s era. Brashear has an incredible ability in illustrating her words to truly transform the reader into her world of beauty, romance, and interpersonal relationships. These books were so enjoyable and easy to read.
Each of the books deal with a different story of characters caught up in their romantic whirlwind. Quite a bit of themes to be expected are drama, love triangle, being in the public eye, family connections, and many more. What I personally loved most about the book series was being transported to the 1960s vibe of Hawaii. I’ve never traveled there and it truly feels through reading their travels and exploration as the essence of the story takes place helps you enjoy a bit of paradise. Great beach read!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a fun beach series set in Hawaii with all of the emotions. The characters are likable and easy to relate to, the setting is amazing and I loved hearing about all the local places that I haven’t heard of or been to as a tourist, and the story lines were easy to follow. The first book is Keoni and Lou’s story. Keoni is an amazing surfer but hasn’t gone pro. He holds onto the loss of a friend and blames himself. He meets Lou who is a tourist, who helps him change his feelings about tourists. The second book is Declan and Pearl’s story. Declan is a professional surfer but hasn’t been back to his home in Hawaii since the loss of a friend and a big fight with Keoni. He is just barely holding onto his sobriety and walking through life with no emotion. Pearl loves to surf and wants to be noticed so she can stop waitressing and make it back to Hawaii. The last book is Henry and Claudia’s story. Henry is a stuntman and Claudia is a bit part actress. They become friends as Henry decides to help her. There is drama and chemistry and this is a very well written series of relationships!

Aloha Series Box Set Books 1-3Aloha Series Box Set Books 1-3 by Jill Brashear
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Easy reads

The Aloha Series Box Set has three wonderful stories. Each set in the beautiful tropical islands of Hawaii in the 1960’s. Jills’s vivid writing makes you actually feel like youbare there. They are fun anf quick easy reads. Learning about how the Hawaiians live and their cultures was amazing to learn.

Try Easy is the first book in this box set and is Keoni and Lou’s story. Keoni has an easy life and everything going for him. He is a pro at surfing and it’s his life. He can sing and play guitar and also sexy. Lou is a Photographer and gets a trip of a lifetime to Hawaii. It’s here that she meets the charming and charismatic Keoni. But what does she still have her boyfriend back home, what about him? This book has very likeable characters but what really happens with the couples?

Try Me is the second book and is Pearl & Declan’s story. Pearl wants to be just like her mother. Declan and Pearl have this chemistry about them, they don’t know it but everyone around them sure do. Declan is a surfing pro and finding it hard to return to the place he lost his best friend. They pretend to be in a relationship. This story is full of emotions where there is guilt and heartbreak, loss and grief and lots of chemistry. This book makes you want to try for what you want and what you believe in.

Try Right is the third book and is Claudia & Henry’s story. Claudia was once the most sought-after actress who is now only a bit part actress and looking for the one that got away. Is trying to recapture something really what anyone really needs? Henry is a stuntman who was captured by the beauty to turn up for filming and for better or worse he decides to help her. What starts as friendship has the potential for so much more. With some angst, a little drama, and lots of chemistry, this tale will delight the reader.
These books have a lot of chemistry and romance and a lot of drama. But a good read.

Try Me is the second book and is Pearl & Declan’s story. Try Right is the third book and is Claudia & Henry’s story. Perfect for a weekend on the beach or cuddling up on the couch with a cup of your favorite drink.

I feel like I was transported back to the 60’s to Hawaii, where the author describes in the most gorgeous detail. I have a major impulse to hop on a plane now. You may as well grab the box set because once you read the first one, you’ll want to devour them all!

Book #1, Try Easy describes the complication of a love triangle on vacation, which definitely sounds like a double-edged sword. What could go wrong if it only happens on a trip? The obvious and palpable chemistry between Lou and Keoni is irresistible. Will Lou remain faithful or is the attraction just too strong?
Book #2, Try Me goes into the tragically beautiful story between Declan and Pearl. On the surface everything looks as it should but hiding underneath are the ever-evolving feelings that Declan shouldn’t have. This is supposed to be a fake relationship, just for show, so why are these emotions getting stronger? Another couple with amazing chemistry, you’ll breeze right through this book.
Book #3, Try Right. When Henry sets eyes on Claudia, a breathtaking movie star, he knows he’ll do whatever it takes to be close to her…even if that means helping her rekindle a lost flame. Will he be able to resist his own feelings and help Claudia follow her heart?

I connected with each character so easily which can be such a difficult thing to do, especially with an entire box set. I’m so glad I picked these up and can’t wait to read more from Jill Brashear!

Wow! I adored this series. I breezed through all three books and highly enjoyed them. I felt myself getting sucked into the story more and more as I went on. While Book 2 was definitely my favorite, I couldn’t help but fall in love with all of the characters and the setting.
This series made me want to throw on a bathing suit and learn to surf. It also made me crave living in Hawaii and getting to experience the beautiful ocean there everyday. Within this retro romance, there was all sorts of love, lust, tragedy, drama, and happy endings.

They are written by a very talented author who now has a fan in me for sure. She very creatively draws her readers into the world she has created set in Hawaii during the 1960s. As you read through these books your imagination will be filled with beautiful, vivid images and great characters. You truly will feel as though you are right there with them. While each book in true romance style, does have two people brought together, each book draws each couple together in different ways and I just know you will be unable to resist caring about them and wishing for their happy endings. Aloha Series Box Set Books 1-3 by Jill Brashear. I loved this series so much. Its full of drama, romance and mystery set in Hawaii in the late 1960’s about a dried up actress who is still struggling to let go of her old life. Try Right is the first book and it was good. Its about Claudia who is a older actress which the only part she can get is a bit part in a tv series set in Hawaii. She has ulterior motives for taking the part. Try Me is the second book in the series and its about Peggy, the older actress’s daughter. Pearl doesn’t want to be an actress she wants to be a professional surfer. Throw in some romance and you have a great read. Try Easy is the 3rd book in the series and it was my favorite. Try Right is a second chance romance story about Mary Lou Hunter who is a photographer. Hawaii is every photographers dream. Keoni Makai is a famous surfer and he and Mary Lou hit it off chemistry wise. He’s also a great subject to photograph. These 3 books throw you in the middle of Hawaii and they are about finding yourself, changing your identity and falling in love. Amazing box set.

The fact that it was about my beloved Hawaii was an added bonus! I love the vivid imagery the author gave, I was instantly transported to the Hawaiian Islands. Imagining it in another time too was interesting, I often imagine myself in the place of the heroine in the books I read and that was very easy to do with this series. These were all beautifully written romances. I was immediately drawn in by the beautiful descriptions, allowing me to feel like I was right there in Hawaii with the characters, seeing what they were seeing. I enjoyed the small sample of Hawaiian culture with the words that native Hawaiians use when talking to each other, like haole. I always love learning more about the characters as they get to know each other. Bones, Keoni, Declan, Lou, Penny, all of them, and every other character we get to know, are so interesting and complex. They don’t have that one dimensional, basic personality type that sometimes happens when romance is the focus. Although, I definitely adore the bits of their friendships that we get to see during their stories. If you’re looking for a beautiful view, strong friendships, fabulous characters, and romance in late 1960s Hawaii, this is your pick!

The Aloha Series Box Set (Books 1 – 3) by Jill Brashear – Review by Beverly Finnie

Aloha Series Box Set Books 1-3Aloha Series Box Set Books 1-3 by Jill Brashear
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Aloha Series box set is three books that all happen at the same time. Book 2 was definitely my favorite but they were all good. They all overlap at some point, all happening in the year 1968. The author did a good job with these. As I read each book I feel like any issues that were in the book prior were corrected in the next. Showing the authors growth in their writing style through all 3.
Book 1
Try Easy was alright. I struggle a little getting into it. As I pushed through I was more sucked in by the story that was being told. Keoni, a Hawaiian local goes against his better judgement to show Mary Lou and her friend Penny around Oahu. He doesn’t like tourists, and though he’s physically attracted to Lou she’s not an exception. His dislike for tourists is one of the many skeletons he’s keeping hidden in the closet.
Lou, on a much needed vacation. Gets to enjoy the beauty of Hawaii first hand as well as through her camera lens. She never expected that meeting Keoni would turn her life upside down. She has a boyfriend and they have a plan. Keoni can’t happen.
Can they resist the attraction?
Book 2
Try Me was my favorite. I even thought the writing was better. Bringing together two broken souls that needed one another. This book had its obstacles for the main characters but the author navigated them beautifully.
Declan, top professional surfer in his field, has been tasked to the biggest competition he’s ever been in. Two problems. One it means he has to go home to Hawaii, and two it’s at the beach Eddie died. Faced with guilt and indecision it’s meeting Pearl that causes him to take that leap. He wants to help break into a man’s sport because she’s the best. And he can’t do that without agreeing to go.
Pearl doesn’t realize Declan is the ticket to making her dreams come true. She knows he’s the best but doesn’t fully understand the consequences of signing her contract. She likes Declan, so why is signing a contract that includes her being his pretend girlfriend a problem?
Can they get past Declan’s hang up with the fake girlfriend contract?
What happens at the competition?
Book 3
Try Right was different. I didn’t like it as much as book 2 but it was better than book 1. And again you can see the improvement in the author’s writing skills. Try Right is a second chance romance, or is it?
Claudia, has been black balled in Hollywood, gets the opportunity to take a job in Hawaii to help her career. It also gives her a chance to go after and look up Keoni. He was the one who got away. She was the tourist he fell in love with. What she didn’t expect was Henry. Henry is an unexpected breath of fresh air that can completely upend everything she’s chasing.
Henry, a Hollywood stuntman, who has the life he wants. The home with the view he wants. But does he get the girl he wants? On a whim Henry met Claudia but didn’t know that was her name and they had the time of their lives. Little did he know they would be working on the same TV production. As he gets to know her he can’t let go. Unfortunately there’s two things standing in his way. Keoni and a bet he wanted no parts of originally.
Does he tell Claudia about the bet?
What happens when she sees Keoni again?
Every book has a few questions with each description. I would say the ones that come to everyone’s minds while reading this series. I’ll close by saying this, don’t let the struggle that I had reading book one keep you away from this series. It’s worth it. If it be altogether or each as a standalone.

This is a box set of three books all taking place in the 1960’s. At first I thought the time period would cause me not to connect with the books, but I was wrong! Two of my favorite things in this book. Historical Smut. That is the best way to describe My Darling Rogue. It starts from the very first page.

Gabriel is the definition of tall, dark and handsome with that possessive attitude that you love in a book boyfriend.

Celia the flirt with her options of suitors, though she has a dark secret that does not stop her from going after what she wants and being a major tease in the best possible way.

The passion between Gabriel and Celia is epic and comes off the pages as genuine, steamy and meant to be. This is the first book in the series but believe me you will be coming back for more. I know I will for sure.

This is a well written series with some great standalone books forming it. I had only read one of the books in this series when I got the boxed set so I was excited to read more of them. Each are as good as the others. The characters are engaging and easy to connect with, the stories all flow well and are great books to read.
Each book had the same feeling to them but they were all distinct from each other. The characters stood out and none of the storylines felt like there were iterations of another. I was impressed with the writing style and enjoyed each and every one of these books. This is a series I would recommend.

Overall I really enjoyed this read. The author pulls you in with her writing. We get some very steamy scenes. You can feel their attraction come off the pages, I really loved this couple. They both had issues that they were dealing with and I liked how Gabriel helped Celia get past her fears. My Darling Rogue (A Wicked Rogues Romance Book 1) by April Moran – Review by Shea Gilkerson 9/5/22

My Darling RogueMy Darling Rogue by April Moran
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Historical romance has never been my jam, I don’t know why. Maybe it’s verbiage, maybe it’s style, I don’t know. I DO know this book made me rethink that idea. THIS historical romance is beautifully written, has great world and character building, lots of chemistry between the main characters and is HOT HOT HOT.

Gabriel is a man on the fringes of society – his father left him a bastard, but he is wealthy thanks to his own smarts, and also best friends with one of THE high level society members. He has his pick from nearly any woman of any status, and he has had his fair share – but the one he WANTS is Lady Celia Buchanan. While he lusts for her, desires her, and dreams of her – he has convinced himself he is not worthy. Therefore, he hangs around, watching her at society events. Imagining how they would spend their time together and the things he would do, if given the chance – while also feeling like he is protecting her.

Lady Celia Buchanan has a secret in her past that she would like to keep hidden – or at least to marry a man who won’t hold it against her. While her mother does her fair share of work to marry off her daughter, Celia is reluctant – until she notices Gabriel watching her. He’s devastatingly handsome, obviously protective, and the things he says to her when they speak…she is interested in the things he could teach her.

While the entire book is them getting to the truth of the matter, how they are perfect for each other and in for an intense, passionate relationship together – you watch them grow together. Lady Celia is a strong female lead who is likable (for most of the book), smart, passionate, and strong. Gabriel is imposing and dominant, but putty in Celia’s hands. He is masculine, passionate, well thought and spoken…they make a wonderful couple and this read definitely shouldnt just be left laying around for anyone to pick up. NSFW but SO GOOD. Just a great, well written book. Enjoy!
