My Darling Rogue (A Wicked Rogues Romance Book 1) by April Moran – Review by Shannon Fowler

My Darling RogueMy Darling Rogue by April Moran
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This story is cute, sweet and oh so sexy. Set in the 1800’s when society mattered and reputations were important. Celia Buchanan and Gabriel Rose pushed the limits of society and each other. I enjoyed this story. It was easy to read and follow. Both characters had their own angst and past problems to be worked out. Little did they know they would need one another to make their world right.

“She felt…right. It was the only way he could describe it. Right in his world of everything wrong.”

This story includes many sexy scenes and includes dirty words along with consensual adult situations. I would recommend this author and story.

Wow this very talented author is new to me and I am so happy to have found her and this fantastic series! I have a real love or hate relationship with Historical Romances meaning I always seem to either wildly love or passionately hate them. There never seems to be an in between for me and this absolutely 100% falls into the LOVE category. This wonderful book is the first in this series so I truly am super excited to see what comes next. With interesting characters, a creative storyline to keep you captivated and enough steam to melt the hardest of hearts you truly do not want to miss this book! Gabriel and Lady Celia are far more in depth characters then I first expected and their chemistry is just off the charts! Do yourself a huge favour and start this series today!

This is the first book I have read by this author and I am definitely impressed! The chemistry between the main couple is undeniable!! I was not expecting such sizzling scenes, I say scenes quite literally, but wow were they ever! The story does have moments that are a little too coincidental but overall I loved it! I will DEFINITELY read more from this author!

This is the first book in a new series by the author. It’s also the first book that I have read by this author but I’m very sure it won’t be the last. Although I read a LOT of romance, I haven’t read a lot of historical romance but it’s now becoming a genre/trope that I’m loving more and more.
Gabriel Rose is the rumoured bastard son of a Marquess. Although technically a commoner, he lives amongst the rich and famous of the Ton due to being a close advisor of Sebastian, an Earl. Here he meets Lady Celia Buchanan, daughter of an Earl. Unable to resist the intense chemistry between themselves. Gabriel and Celia are rushed into marriage after being caught in a compromising position.
This story is HOT and steamy. The chemistry between Gabriel and Celia is off the charts. I absolutely loved reading their story. The story is filled with steamy sex scenes, drama and blackmail.
I was totally hooked on this story from the very beginning and the author kept me gripped and very entertained throughout. The story flows very well and the characters are well written and relatable. There is also a great cast of secondary characters who add so much to the story.
I definitely recommend this book. If you love a steamy historical romance then this book is for you.

Oooooh! I love this book so much! First time reading anything by April and after finishing this one, I’ll most definitely be checking out her other books! Gabriel is 🤌🏽🥵 I swear this man is great at dirty talk. The chemistry between him and Celia is great! He’s so intense and I love it. I also just wanna say that Bryan sucks. That’s all I’ll say about him. But the spice in this book was top notch! A girl loves her erotica and the sex in this book was 100! So so good. But also has a good plot too it as well! So it keeps you interested all around! Page turner for sure. Highly recommend!

You could actually feel not only the timeperiod and language spoken between characters, but you could feel the love blossoming quickly between Lady Celia and Gabriel. The Aloha Series Box Set (Books #1 – 3) by Jill Brashear – Review by Angela Hayes

Aloha Series Box Set Books 1-3Aloha Series Box Set Books 1-3 by Jill Brashear
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4 Stars

Aloha Series Boxset contain the three books in the series by Jill Brashear. It is a great deal, three books for the price of one #winning!
The series is set against the tropical and picturesque backdrop of Hawaii. There is a retro historical element to the story too, as it is set in the1960’s, which definitely added an extra element of interest to the stories/series for me.
The boxset contains:

TRY EASY (BOOK #1)
This is a vacation romance with a bit of a love triangle. Lou travel to Hawaii for a vacation, leaving her fiancé back home in Seattle. She soon meets a local surfer named Keoni, and a friendship is formed. With a fiancé back home, she fights her attraction to Keoni- what does the future hold for these two. Will Lou return to Seattle and her fiancé? This story makes for a great read….

TRY ME (BOOK #2)
This is a fake relationship romance. Declan, a pro surfer seems to be at the top his game. But that’s not really the case at all. There is a sea of pain he hides from the world.
Pearl is determined to follow in her mother’s footsteps and cement her place in the surfing world. Pretending to be Declan’s girlfriend wasn’t part of the plan…. but if it helps her achieve her dreams then she can pretend for a while. These two have so much chemistry and are perfect for each other… another wonderful addition

TRY RIGHT (BOOK #3)
We follow Claudia, a movie star trying to reinvigorate her career, and Henry the stuntman working on her latest set. Claudia is trying to recapture her past, and Henry has agreed to help. But along the way the lines of friendship begin to blur- and maybe recapturing her past isn’t so important anymore.
A sweet friends-to-lovers romance, with a little drama, plenty of chemistry, and a dash or two of angst…. just to keep things interesting.

Happy Reading!

Thank you, Jill Brashear.

Aloha Series Box Set Books 1-3Aloha Series Box Set Books 1-3 by Jill Brashear
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Aloha Series books 1-3 by Jill Brashear were perfectly written, fun, witty and dangerous. I loved the insight on the characters from the other book but not too much that it took away from their individual stories. I was so happy to have read all three books in one. It was really great not having to wait for each book. The author really makes you wish you were a local from Hawaii.

Try Easy. Oh man I loved Keoni and Lou’s story. What person wouldn’t want to be swept away in Hawaii? Lou has her life planned out but when she and her best friend take a vacation to the incredible islands of Hawaii, everything changes. Keoni is much like a celebrity in Hawaii. A talented surfer and amazing person, he doesn’t dislike anything except tourists. But almost two weeks with Lou isn’t enough. The pair are drawn to one another and have to figure out if they want to make it work. I was obsessed!

Try Right. This was such a cute story. Declan has an image, a reputation and does what it takes to protect that because he just wants to surf. Pearl just wants to fulfill her mother’s legacy and dream. I didn’t think I’d do desperately want to take up surfing because of a book but I’d definitely try it now. Pearl and Declan just fit together and I’d really love to see more of their relationship and how her career pans out.

Try Me. I didn’t read up on who this was going to be about before I started and I was very surprised at who the author chose for this book. Claudia has history with the islands, but she hasn’t been back since. She had a fling the summer she came and now wants it back. That is until she meets Henry. Henry is used to danger but it seems women are a different danger for him, especially Claudia. I really enjoyed their romance story. They were sweet, funny and it felt right.

My Darling Rogue (A Wicked Rogues Romance Book 1)My Darling Rogue by April Moran
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

My Darling Rogue is the first book in the A Wicked Rogues Romance series. We have strong, smart, feisty, stubborn Lady Celia and dark, brooding, dangerous, and handsome Gabriel Rose. These two find themselves continuously thrown and drawn together. They keep fighting it though they both seem taken with each other. Very much an “everyone can see it” situation. Although Gabriel is obsessed with Celia he thinks he has no right to vie for her affections because she is a lady and he is a bastard. Then something happens to change all that and these two can finally be together but Celia isn’t sure she can be what Gabriel needs.

I found Celia and Gabriel’s relationship fun but frustrating. They were both so stubborn, sometimes to the point of foolishness. It was nice to see them get their act together. This book was interesting and there was a bit of adventure. Gabriel is awesome as is Celia and I love the relationships they have with their family and friends. The book contains some triggering elements so be aware. It was a very enjoyable book.

Aloha Series Box Set Books 1-3Aloha Series Box Set Books 1-3 by Jill Brashear
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I literally ‘binge read’ this box set, of the first three books in ‘The Aloha Series’, and I thoroughly enjoyed all three stories. Each of the historical romance stories are set in the tropical islands of Hawaii in the late 1960’s. The author does a wonderful job of making the beautiful setting of Hawaii come to life through her descriptive narrative, which made me feel like I was actually there, and immersed in the stories. In book one, ‘Try Easy’, we are in 1968, and introduced to heroic surfer, Keoni and tourist, Lou, in a slow burn vacation fling romance. Then in ‘Try Me’, the steamy romance involves a fake relationship, between champion surfer Declan Bishop and Pearl who is determined to become the first famous female surfer.
In ‘Try Right’, a friends to lovers romance leads to souls mate finding each other. Claudia was a famous Hollywood actress, but now she can only get a bit part role in a tv series filmed in Hawaii, along with fearless stuntman Henry. Henry agrees to help her find her first true love, a heroic surfer that she met, but as the couple get closer, maybe he’s not Claudia’s soul mate after all. Each of these enjoyable and engaging retro romances are standalone stories, but do have some crossover characters. These heartwarming stories had me hooked from start to finish, and I felt transported not only to the heat and beauty of Hawaii but also to the 1960’s, by the added historical details. The characters are well defined and the chemistry between the couples comes across in the narrative, and I was cheering them on hoping they would all get their HEA. I definitely recommend this box set, which had me happily turning the pages.

The Aloha Series
By: Jill Brashears
5*

This box set is meant to ‘binge’. It contains the first three books in The Aloha Series. I have to say that this is a bingeable box set. It took me two days to read, which is faster than how I usually read. All three books are based on finding love and happily ever afters. I love all three so much but for very different reasons.
The first book was Try Easy. This book takes place in the past. It focuses on the romance of Keoni and Lou. Keoni is a surfer and Lou is a tourist. This book has a will they or won’t they feel. It tells of natural chemistry between two people who are fighting it. I truly enjoyed these characters and this story.
The second book is ‘Try Me’ it focuses on the relationship of Declan and Pearl. Both characters are introduced in Try Easy. These two are in a questionable / fake relationship but they have chemistry to burn.
The third book is Try Right. Once again, it focuses on characters that were introduced in book one. It focuses on Henry and Claudia. Their relationship is one of those tales of friends who become more than friends.
These books are such easy reads. I loved the relationships and how relatable they are. I also love how these books were heavily reliant on natural chemistry. They were written in such a way that you could envision yourself with them or in these positions and root on the characters. Sometimes I wanted to yell because they characters were not seeing the chemistry they had for one another.
I know summer is coming to an end, but these books would make the perfect beach reads. They are set in Hawaii and reading them would be the perfect end of summer read, in my opinion.

My Darling Rogue seemed more like the older romance books that tend to be a guilty pleasure of mine. The book was a little slow to start but turned hot and heavy really quickly and had a modern 50 shades type twist. This is definitely a book for the 18 and up crowd due to male main character’s proclivities. It was wild and kept me engaged once it picked up and it was an enjoyable read. I look forward to picking up more books by this author.

The bastard son of a nobleman, Gabriel Rose has earned himself a place in the ton that can not be disputed. It on the edge thanks to many but, it does not really matter to the women , they see him as a thrill to be had. He has his eye on Lady Cecilia Buchanan. Lady Cecilia comes across as the typical daughter of high society however she has a secret she feels makes her unworthy. Due to this She has managed to avoid her mothers attempts to marry her off. But that avoidance ends with Gabriel. She says no but Gabriel is determined. Will Gabriel’s be enough for him to put in the work to win Cecelia? Will Cecelia be able to open herself to Gabriel , giving him the trust that must exist between a couple? Will Gabriel and Cecelia both get what they want, their own happily ever after?

I really enjoyed reading this story. Watching Cecelia and Gabriel come together and of course all the spice along the way made for an exciting read! I can not wait to see what comes next in this series. Worth the read.

A Hawaiian Romance
This boxset was a collection of well-written romances set in the late 60s that have some overlap.

Try Easy
This is Keoni and Lou’s story. A girl’s trip to Hawaii ends up to be more than Lou bargained for. Keoni holds onto past hurts and needs to heal before he can move on. This is slow burn but the writing kept me interested. I loved the setting and the Hawaii of old.

Try Me
This is Pearl and Declan’s story. I really enjoyed their ‘fake’ relationship and the way they interacted. Their chemistry was hot. The setting is spot on again and the author interweaves the history seamlessly. The events in this book occur at the same time as book 1 and the author pulled that off brilliantly.

Try Right
This is Claudia and Henry’s story. We have come across these characters in the previous books. Claudia is Keoni’s first love and she also caused some issues in book 2. Henry is Keoni and Bones’ friend and where Penny and Lou stayed in book 1. He is a strong character and true to his word. Claudia is also strong and this makes for some very intense moments. Again the setting is brilliant and the imagery amazing.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this boxset and totally recommend.

I adore historical romance and this one definitely did not disappoint. This is the first book by this author but I assure you it will not be that last! Lady Celia is looking for something she has yet to find, a man who will be all that she needs and wants and who will look past her secret that could ruin her. Gabriel Rose is a unique man in society. He is a bastard yet he is still accepted. He wants Celia even though he shouldn’t. When his life takes an abrupt turnaround, he is elevated to a marquess, he pursues her. Can he look past her secrets? Gabriel his such a great character. I love how he knows just how to push Celia’s buttons yet would do anything to protect her from anyone, even herself.

Aloha Series Box Set Books 1-3Aloha Series Box Set Books 1-3 by Jill Brashear
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Aloha Series Box Set has three wonderful retro/historical romance stories. Each set in the beautiful tropical islands of Hawaii in the 1960’s. Jill’s vivid writing captures the beauty of the setting and actually makes you feel like you are there. These books are fun and quick and easy reads. I loved learning about Hawaiian customs, culture and way of life. It is a lifelong dream to go to Hawaii one day.

Try Easy is the first book in this box set and is Keoni and Lou’s story.

Keoni has it all going for him. He is a pro at surfing and it’s his life. He can sing and play guitar and did I mention he’s super sexy.

Lou is a Photographer and gets a trip of a lifetime to Hawaii. It’s here that she meets the charming and charismatic Keoni. But what of her long-term boyfriend back home?

Likable characters or not I don’t condone cheating so unfortunately it put a bit of a dampener on the story for me.

Try Me is the second book and is Pearl & Declan’s story.

Pearl knows what she wants and she wants to be just like her surfing royalty mother. Pretending to be Declan’s girlfriend was not one of them but the chemistry is there for all to see except them.

Declan is a surfing pro and finding it hard to return to the place he lost his best friend. Pretending to be in a relationship with an up-and-coming surfer is meant to be good for them both.

This story is full of emotions where there is guilt and heartbreak, loss and grief and lots of chemistry. It is about being the best at what you do, losing someone and finding that someone.

Try Right is the third book and is Claudia & Henry’s story. A sweet friend to lover’s romance set in the stunning background of Hawaii.

Claudia was once the most sought-after actress who is now only a bit part actress and looking for the one that got away. Trying to recapture a past may not be the thing you need.

Henry is a stuntman who was captured by the beauty to turns up for filming and for better or worse he decides to help her. What starts as friendship has the potential for so much more.

With some angst, a little drama, and lots of chemistry, this tale will delight the reader.

This was a great read! This book had a great storyline, great characters, some very steamy scenes, and was also very well written. This is the first book I’ve read from this author and I wasn’t disappointed. As far as I can gather, this is part of a series, but I honestly couldn’t tell. So this can be read as a standalone. There were a few mentions of past characters and a few past events, but not enough to take away from the story. This book gave me big Bridgerton vibes so if you like that you should definitely check this book out! You won’t be disappointed!

Lou already has the perfect boyfriend.

She shouldn’t be attracted to the brooding beach boy who picks her up from the airport on her Hawaiian vacation.

Keoni isn’t even her type. She prefers a man who wears a suit to work and cuts his hair regularly, not a dangerously sexy surfer who hates tourists.

Keoni says he wants nothing to do with Lou, so why does he keep showing up every day to play tour guide?

As Keoni shows Lou his favorite places in Hawaii, she falls in love—both with the island and the man who embodies the rugged spirit of paradise.

She learns quickly enough that aloha is more than just a greeting and resisting Keoni might be the hardest thing she’s ever had to do.

When love is on the line, there’s no easy way out.

I am blown away by Gabriel and Celia’s relationship in this beautiful historical romance! This book is full of detailed, steamy scenes that are incredibly written. April Moran certainly knows how to manage to pull you into this story and keep your interest without every sexual encounter being cliché.

Lady Celia is one of the few friends in her circle that has not found a suitor but still feels the need for distractions. Gabriel does not share the same noble upbringing and is caught in between staying in the shadows or admitting he wants more. Absolutely Hot Rogue Book

This was an amazing book. I really couldn’t put the book down. The couple, they seemed like they were not meant for each other, but they start this bonding relationship and they start liking each other. This book starts off with promises of anything a romance is really made of.
Lady Celia Buchanan is the daughter of an Earl that is looking for love, understanding and acceptance of her secrets from her past. Gabriel Rose is the bastard son of a nobleman that is drawn to Celia. He wants his woman, he thinks his social status is the way to go to get her. The two in the couple fall for each other, this is the opposites attract type romance and in so many good ways in this book. Their attraction is super strong, they are an alpha and gives his girl the comfort a lady really needs and deserves.
April Moran writes a very well start for her series I do recommend this book if you like a very well written romance with all the spicy details.

I love being thrown back in time and through the maze of emotions of Gabriel and Celia. Her feistiness and his domineering personality make for an entertaining read. The things about this book that I loved and kept my eyes glued to it are the detailed love scenes, vibrant personalities, and true passion of these characters. Some parts of this book had me wanting to reach through the pages and strangle them, and that just goes to show how emotionally invested this author makes her readers. I would strongly recommend this author and series to anyone that thinks they can handle the heat on these pages.
