My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sebastian Cain, the Earl of Ravenswood, tries to convince Gabriel Rose to pursue Lady Celia Buchannan. However, Gabriel feels he is unworthy since he is a bastard child. Lady Celia wants to be with Gabriel, but being of high society, she doubts her family would approve. Gabriel follows Sebastion’s advice but has second thoughts. He sees Celia entertain advances from other men like Lord Harvey, but never accepts any suitors or marriage. When Gabriel rescues her from being forced into a marriage after Lord Harvey tries to challenge her virtue, he decides he will make her chase him instead. Just when it seems that Celia has finally fallen for Gabriel, she tells him she cannot marry him. She tells him it is not because he is a commoner. Celia hides a secret that even her family is unaware of. Gabriel is about to leave Ravenswood when a message arrives for him that could change their lives completely.
