Rose of Anzio – Moonlight (Volume 1): a WWII Epic Love Story by Alexa Kang is a gripping and effortless tale of two people trying to make sense out of their chaotic world. I found this book to be highly detailed and so well written that I was instantly hooked by it.
This is the first book that I have read by this author and I have to say I loved every bit of it. I always do enjoy a well written war story and this has to be one of the best that I have read. I really felt like you connected the characters and felt their experiences with them.
The author has done an amazing job of portraying what it must have been like during war time America and exploring the emotions that must have been felt at the time. I thoroughly enjoyed everything about this book and I am so excited to read the next in the series!

5 stars!

Such a fun read. I really enjoyed this story and the period that was portrayed. The characters were all really nicely written and the storyline flowed nicely, I was never bored and couldn’t stop reading. I always feel sad for characters that have arranged marriages, some cases it works out nicely, but in Bridget’s case it did not. I was devastated for her when her ship was seized by pirates and they killed off the entire crew except her, and then she gets rescued by the wonderful Valan. You can tell throughout the story that there is real chemistry between Valan and Bridget. Bridget is so sweet to fall in love with Valan only to leave him to fulfill her promise to her clan to marry the laird Rodrick. I liked the the evil that was placed in this story in the form of the greedy Rodrick. Fighting through some trials together, find out if Bridget and Valan can truly be together. The ending was sweet, steamy, and surprising. This is my first book by this author and after reading this one, I can’t wait to see what else Mrs. Siddoway has to offer.

I thoroughly enjoyed this exciting historical romance, it had an exciting storyline with swashbuckling pirates and plenty of romance. As the newest pirate captain of Clan MacNeil, Valan sets out to prove his worth but rather than finding treasure he finds a women in need of rescuing. Lady Bridget MacKay has unhappily set sail in order to fulfil her promise of marriage when her ship is attacked by pirates. Neither Valan or Bridget can deny the instant attraction they feel for each other or ignore the chemistry. Valan must reconsider his vow of bachelorhood and Bridget must decide whether to carry on with her marriage or continue her adventures with a pirate. I loved all the diverse characters in the story from Valan and Bridget to the pirate crew. I liked how the chemistry between Valan and Bridget sizzled off the page. I found that the plot was action packed and I was hooked from page one. Due to the authors detailed descriptions I really felt immersed in the story and ‘life at sea’ was really bought to life.

Rescued by Valan is the second book in The Pirates of Barra: Highland Raiders series by Jennifer Siddoway. This has quite a lot going for it- from pirates, historical romance, action, adventure, danger, drama- and did I mention pirates?
This should have grabbed me right from the get-go, having all the ingredients that I love to find in a story. This could have been a red hot five star read for me- but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to my expectations.
I really did try to connect to/with the story and characters, but something was missing for me. I’m not sure exactly what- but there was something a little ‘off’ with the story- especially her capture, what transpired prior to her being rescued, and then her reaction afterwards. It just didn’t ring true….
The idea of the series does intrigue me, so I will go back and read the first book and explore that story. As well as reading this book again in a month or so, just to see if I still feel the same way, or if I was just having an ‘off’ reading day with this book.

Thank you, Jennifer Siddoway!

Rose of Anzio – Moonlight (Volume 1): a WWII Epic Love Story by Alexa Kang is a YA historical coming of age story. It is a nice read that is full of emotions as two people who can’t stand each other learn that there is more to the other. A sweet romance blossoms between all the unfamiliar, uncertainty, upheaval and the difference between the higher classes and lower classes. I wasn’t sure I would like it at first, but I kept reading and found that this touching story is well written and an enjoyable read.

I love a good historical adventure/romance. And I LOVE when there is an accent involved. I can always hear the lovely brogue in my head but cannot replicate it on my own. Regardless I thought this was an exciting, extremely well written adventure that held my attention from the very first page. Exciting, passionate, and action packed, this book had my attention immediately. I loved this book and cannot wait to read more in this universe.

I love historical fiction and this book sounded like it was right up my alley. Kang weaves a rich tale based in the pre WWII Chicago. I found the premise fascinating and found myself invested in the characters fairly quickly. Overall I found this to be a good read but one I believe I will more greatly appreciate in the context of the larger universe within the series. I look forward to picking up the next book.

This is my first historical pirate romance story. I would have to say that this story grabbed me from the first page until the last. The story’s foundation is solid which makes it believable. The characters are complex and fully developed. I love the idea that a pirate learns to love more than the sea air and the treasure they find/loot/steal. Valen is a new captain of a pirate ship. He thought that he would never have romance as his life is on the seas. That all halted when he found Lady Bridget. He has fallen for her but there is one problem, she is betrothed to another man. There are some tough decisions that Lady Bridget needs to make and Valen needs to live with the decisions that she makes. Will the high seas call to Lady Bridget? Can Valen be a new captain and respect the decisions that are made? Will he fight for the woman he falls for? I highly recommend reading this story to find out these answers and so much more.

Rescued by Valan (The Pirates of Barra: Highland Raiders) by Jennifer Siddoway an original action adventure romance story. I am new to Jennifer’s writing style, but I found it easy to read and enjoyed the characters. The story starts off a little slow but soon picks up speed and intensity. Was a great 5 star read. This was a great historical romance, I was pulled right in by the authors writing.

Lady Bridget has an arranged marriage and is on her way to go through with the wedding, when her ship is overtaken by pirates. When she meets Valan there are instant sparks. Will the hot pirate interfere with her plans?

Valan is a new captain of the MacNeil clan, so getting a big treasure would be great. What he didn’t expect to find was a woman that he finds himself very attracted to.

We get so much in this great read, action, danger, romance, and so much more. I really liked both characters very much. They were perfect for each other. The author does a great job of pulling you in with her writing, you feel like you are right there with the characters. This can be read as a standalone. All of the secondary characters added a great element to the story. If you’re looking for a great pirate romance this is the book for you, 1-click and get started today.

Rescued by Valan by Jennifer SIddoway is the second book in the Pirates of Barra: Highland Raiders series. This is a well written and exciting book with just the right amount of romance to it. This book can be read as a standalone.
Overall I have to say I definitely enjoyed this book. I liked the clear difference in the main characters: the sweet innocence of Bridget and the experience and rawness of Valan. Even though on paper they wouldn’t work at all the author did a good job of them complimenting each other.
The story I found to be engaging and knew how to keep me interested. It definitely felt exciting to read although there were a few times where it felt like it could have done with just a bit more depth. However if you want something that you can lose yourself in for a few hours and have a great time then you should read this book.

I love historical romance but not usually during this time period but when I read the synopsis for this book I decided to give it a go and I really enjoyed it. I have read books by this author previously and I really like her detailed writing style, she really brings her stories to life through her imaginative writing. I can always easily imagine what I am reading and I think that it really helps when reading historical stories. The characters were probably younger than I usually read about but their story was heart-warming to read about.
Overall an enjoyable coming of age story, one that I really enjoyed and would recommend. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

I loved reading the story Rose of Anzio – Moonlight (Volume 1): a WWII Epic Love Story by Alexa Kang. It is a historical fiction story that had me hooked from the very beginning. The author does an amazing job of making the storyline and the characters come alive. I felt like I was right there with the characters. I loved the characters of Tessa Graham and Anthony Ardley. Tessa is 14 years old and in an unfamiliar country. Sent to the US to keep her safe. Anthony is a young man who while going to college also finds that the world is changing as the draft and joining the war are at his doorstep. I grew to care about Tessa and Anthony with each chapter that I read. Tessa has such an independent spirit and a kind heart. Anthony is a young man who is realizing that he has to choose his path forward. This story had moments that are saddening and others that touched my heart. This is a story that I thought about even after I had finished the last page. Don’t miss out on an amazing story that will have you turning pages to find out what happens next. I loved reading the book Rescued by Valan (The Pirates of Barra: Highland Raiders) by Jennifer Siddoway. It is a story that had me hooked from the very beginning. Rose of Anzio-Moonlight is the first book in the Rose of Anzio series by Alexa Kang. This is my first read from Ms. Kang- and I am happy to say that after reading this fabulous story, it won’t be my last. I have to be honest though, as I wasn’t sure I was going to even like this story when I first started it- but after a few chapters I was definitely hooked and ended up reading it in one sitting.
This is a superb coming of age historical story, set during WWII- it’s a captivating period piece with plenty of drama, self-discovery, politics, history, and romance.
Fearing for Tessa Graham’s safety as war closes in, her family sends her (from England) to stay in Chicago. There, she is thrust into the unfamiliar world of wealth and privilege- but soon discovers that there is another side to this new society. With music and dancing, romance and coming of age, politics and choices, all interwoven within a social snapshot of the times- makes this quite a captivating read.
Looking forward to the next book in the series!

Thank you, Alexa Kang!

Old and New: The Enchanted Wedding Dress (The MacLellan Sisters Trilogy Book 1) by Lucinda Race, was really a great love story. There are so many things about this story that makes it a great love story. I think what I like the most about it, is the strength of the family, how the family bonds are threaded throughout the entire book. Not only with the sisters in this little tale but also the brothers. Because you know if you have a love story involving sisters then you also have to have brothers. This is a story about three sisters, Jamie, Kenzie, and Grace and their friends Steve and Caleb. It’s a love story that you will feel good reading and you will feel even better at the end. Do be aware there is one little mature situation but it in no way distracts from the story. When you need a feel good read this one will do the trick.

It’s been a while since I last read a regency romance novel, but I really enjoyed this one. Although at times the plot and characters get a little stereotypical and predictable, with an ‘enemies to lovers’ type of storyline, I really enjoyed the humour. The main characters Genevieve and Sebastian were mostly believable too. This was a quick, easy read.

Old and New is the first book in the MacLellan Sisters Trilogy. This was the first book I have read by Lucinda Race but as I have found often with new to me authors lately, it will not be my last. I am the middle child, between two sisters so the sisterhood aspect of this novel, or trilogy is what drew me in initially. Old and New was an engaging read with imagery that transports you to the same time and place as the characters. I was interested in the story and the characters from the first page to the last and I am excited to know there are more books to come. I am so going to love this trilogy from Lucinda Race! Old and New: The Enchanted Wedding Dress, is the first in the trilogy and sets things up rather beautifully for a wild and magical ride until the end. I adored this book and the premise, along with the sisters, and fell in love with them pretty quickly. The banter in this novel makes you feel as if you are right there, as it flows beautifully. I can’t wait to see how the next few books unfold as well.

In this one we meet all three sisters, Grace, Kenzie, and Jamie, with Jamie being the eldest and the first sister that we get to know really well in this book. The girls lost their Gran and an extremely valuable package with an enchanted wedding dress and more from her after her death. Each of the girls doubt that the dress will do anything for them and rather enjoy the single life. So what happens when Jamie takes the plunge and slips on the dress? For the magic and more details you will have to read this gem for yourself. I cannot wait until I get my hands on the next book in this series!

Wow, this book was an amazing read that kept me guessing throughout. At first, I was a little frustrated by the largely one POV but then I realised that helped add to the mystery. The characters were supremely well developed – at times they frustrated me and at times I was cheering them on – just like you would anyone in your life I’m sure. This was the first of Lucinda Race’s books that I have read, but it won’t be the last – beginning with the other two books in this trilogy!

What happens when Duke of Sandridge has a swimming accident? Lots, and I’m not going to give it away. This story follows what happens to the Duke and Genevieve. There is lots of mistaken identities, lies, double lies, and all for a good reason. Will they get a happily ever after or remain enemies? You will have to read this delightful book to find out. This is a quick read but is full of humor and more. I always have liked historical fiction especially the Regency era and this gave me a quick and fun read. I look forward to reading more from Bianca Blythe in the future.
