I found myself sucked intthis book from the very beginning and I couldn’t put it down till I finished. Annie is a smart independent woman who is a spy.She meets Captain Thayer Emmerich and finds herself unable to forget about him.Annie is drawn to him .He is a German soldier,.Thayer can tell she’s different than the others. REBEL HEART is book two of “The Immortal Kindred Spirits” Series. I read and loved the first in this series and was looking forward to this story.
There is absolutely no set-up in this story, it jumps right in and I was a little disoriented because it was not what I remembered from the first book in the series. I was confused about about the time frame and location and about what war was being fought. I had to sit back for a bit before I could settle into the story.
It is an enjoyable read that moved at a good pace. There are characters who I immediately appreciated and others who I could do without. Friendships are strong and love is stronger. There is a cadence to the author’s writing style that I enjoy. This story is told in a dual point of view which brought a great “view” to the story.
I look forward to reading book 3 in the series. Note to self; read 1 & 2 again before beginning book 3.

Rebel Heart: Book Two of the Immortal Kindred Series by Clara Winter is a paranormal romance and supernatural themes. This book follows on from the first book and is just as captivating if not more so. This tale is a look at Annie’s life as a vampire, and how she came to be. It is a story so full of emotion and suspense and drama, mystery and action, love and pain, sorrow and happiness. This story keeps you enthralled and Clara definitely left the best till last and what a twist. The story starts from the 18th Century and transitions nicely to modern day. Clara’s a rich and vivid details brings the story to life. The characters are likeable and relatable.
Annie is a spy and believes in the cause but it is the same cause that lead her to a mysterious man who is more than he seems and has wormed his way into her heart. When she happens upon a stately looking couple her life changes more than she could ever imagine. Unfortunately she realises that her soulmate has made the ultimate sacrifice but is she too late?
I am really looking forward to where Clara takes us next.

Deepest Midnight: Book One of the Immortal Kindred Series by Clara Winter is a paranormal romance and supernatural themes. This captivating tale revolves around vampires, which is full of suspense and drama, mystery and action, love and pain. Clara has written a story that pulls at you and keeps you enthralled all the way through and definitely leaving the best of the story until the very end. Clara’s attention to the detail of the characters and the world in which she created is rich and vivid and brings the story to life. The story transitions nicely from the 18th Century to modern day.
Millicent has been in mourning, for over two hundred years. Losing your soulmate never gets easier no matter how many years have passed. Imagine her shock when she comes upon a face, a face of someone from her past. Could it be him, her long lost love? And what will her maker, make of her new find?
I am really looking forward to reading the next book in the series, Rebel Heart. If you like a good vampire book then have a read of this one.

Annie finds herself in an interesting situation. I didn’t think this book would start off the way it did. Had wished it was a pick up from book one. Annie is a likeable character though I don’t think she had much presence. I was more focused on Millicent and wanting to know her background. The same with Thayer. They just didn’t give me the vibe. However I did like parts of the story and found myself excited by the end. So the story does pick up midway. I really have enjoyed this authors works.

Annie was my favorite character from the first book in this series so I was thrilled that this book centered around her. The revolutionary war has also been of huge interest to me so huge win there too! One of my main problems with the first book was that the jump to different times was confusing me but for some reason the jumps to Germany and whatnot were easier to wrap my head around timeline-wise.

This is book two in the Immortal Kindred Series. This time the story centres around Annie and her life. We meet her when she was alive and a spy captured by the Hessian soldiers. Captain Thayer Emmerich helps her escape. Even though they are on opposite sides of the war, Annie can’t deny the attraction or forget about him. One night she meets Millicent and convinces her to turn her into a vampire. Annie figures that with the added speed and strength, she can become the greatest spy ever. Although Annie and Thayer fall in love, his family quickly squashes the budding relationship. Can true love prevail? Will they find a way back to each other? Read the book and find out.
I really like Annie, she has a strength of character that Millicent lacks. She has her beliefs and is not afraid to stand by them. As a couple, I really wanted Thayer and her to be together. I think they compliment each other. Seeing as most of the book took place during the war, there was a lot of action but the book is so much more. There is love and intrigue and betrayals. There is something that happens at the end which I was expecting but it didn’t end the way that I thought it would so it was surprising. I’m curious to see what happens next. I’m looking forward to the next installment.

I was very excited to read this second book in the Immortal Kindred series and I can say that I wasn’t disappointed. I found that this book was a very good follow up to the first. I really found that the author’s writing style really keeps the reader glued to the pages and eager to see what will happen next.
I really loved the chance to get to know Annie better. I found that the backstory really helped put a few pieces in place and was just the right fit to the first. I loved getting to know Annie and how she came to be who she was and how she came to become part of the family with Millie and Alexandre. The best part was getting to see how Thayer and Annie found one another and how they were meant to be. I found it really interesting to get to know Thayer as well with part of his past. I really was quite intrigued by the sort of cliffhanger ending and look forward to the third book in this series.

Rebel Heart is the second book in The Immortal Kindred Series by Clara Winter. It is a paranormal romance, with vampires, supernatural themes, suspense, action, drama, intrigue, and a touch of mystery. Again, Ms. Winter spins a captivating tale, which is an original twist to the vampire theme. This book is Annie’s story whom we met as Millicent’s friend in book one. We get to discover so much more about her, and how she got to where she is. The story spends a lot of time in the past, as we follow Annie on her journey. I really like her as a character and was engrossed in her story. There were a few surprises that I didn’t see coming, and coupled with the incredible world building skills shown by Ms. Winter, made for a really great read. As with the first book in the series, this was a terrific story, it was a little slow to get going, but the pace picked up and the story flowed wonderfully well. Ms. Winter crafted a story full of superb paranormal elements that were entirely believable and made the whole story ‘come alive’. I am really looking forward to the next book, due out in July this year!

Rebel Heart by Clara Winters is the second hook in the sImmortal Kindred series. This time we ate given Annie’s story, one which is interesting enjoyable. Clara Winters weaves another great story that had you fully connected to the characters. I loved watching how everything played out in this book and how the story just kept developing. The story and the characters were as interesting as the first. The book has a little bit of everything so easily keeps your attention. I look forward to seeing what is next from this author.
I wasn’t sure about Deepest Midnight when I started reading it but it has really grown on me. It is far better than certain other contemporary vampire romances and I liked the looks back into Millicent’s past. It added more to the story in a great way as opposed to leaving huge questions for possible later books. Even though this book probably wasn’t supposed to be as funny as I found it, one of my favorite bits near the beginning is when Millicent thinks “Oh I can’t just tell this guy I’m a vampire and can’t go out in the day time” when she absolutely could have. The time period being now, the fact that she wears all black, and her being crazy rich would have been PERFECT for her to just play it like she’s really eccentric or really into the goth lifestyle. She also could have played it like a deadpan joke. I definitely died laughing if she had. Alexandre is incredibly intriguing and I constantly wanted to know more about his backstory and was rooting for Millicent to give him a piece of her mind for treating her like property at times. Really looking forward to the next book

5 Star Deepest Midnight: Book 1 of the Immortal Kindred Series by Clara Winter is a paranormal romance that I couldn’t put down once I started reading. I was drawn in from the beginning and kept my attention till the end. The characters are very detailed and I felt like I was going right along with them. The character Millicent is a Immortal/vampire who feels grief still because of the past. When she finds herself caught and looking into the eyes of a man whom looks like her dead love.This man’s name is Jack. There is definitely desire and attraction between these two. What will happen with these two? What will she do? Find out what happens next. I highly recommend reading this book. I can’t wait to read more from this author.

This is book one in the Immortal Kindred series. As far as vampire stories go, this one is interesting because the author throws in the idea of reincarnation as well. Millicent was alive in the 1700’s and was a French noblewoman. She fell in love with a man who wasn’t her husband. Soon after she became a vampire and for over two hundred years mourns the loss of her true love. By chance, she meets a man who is the spitting image of her lost love. Does reincarnation exist? Can this actually be him?
The story switches back and forth between the 18th century and present day so we fully understand Millicent’s life. The author did a good job because you never get lost within the story. Milli’s knowledge of vampire history is limited to only what her maker told her, which isn’t much. She has only lived with her maker and another vampire, rarely meeting any other immortal. Guaranteed this will lead to some interesting situations later in the series.
This is the first book that I have read from this author. I found the story to be easy flowing and interesting. There was romance, drama and mystery rolled all together which made an intriguing story. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next.

I give Rebel Heart: Book Two of the Immortal Kindred Series by Clara Winter, 4 stars. *This review may contain spoilers from book one of the series.*
We met Annie in book one, but she was just a secondary character. This book shows you her story, how she became who she is today. She was a Rebel spy, working to help bring the English to their knees. She does all she can, but she always wishes she could do more. She wants to be stronger, like the men she works with. Then she gets captured by the Hessians. She is no fool, she knows her life is soon over — and it will not be an easy death from what she has heard of these evil men. But then the unexpected happens. A man with the most captivating eyes comes into where she is being held and helps her escape. She has no idea why, but she is drawn to him. He seems different, almost more than human. But this was only a chance meeting, surely she will never see him again. She can’t stop thinking about him, though. Then she meets and quickly befriends a woman who seems to have the same certain qualities as her soldier. When she learns what they really are, she wants to be like them. It will give her the advantage as a spy. But what will become of her after the war? What about the man she can’t stop thinking about? Little does she know just how much the future holds for her.
Most of this book is set in the past and therefore does not really connect directly with book one. However, there are some events that happen that will make much more sense if you read book one first. That being said, I loved this book. I took an immediate liking to Annie and was so happy when I found out this book was about her. She has such passion and drive. She does not give up, doing what needs to be done. She was way ahead of her time, yet adapts easily to the time she is in. Thayer is also an interesting character. You really do understand why he is the way he is in the beginning of the book. Plus you see Annie melting his heart, and she doesn’t even realising how much she is changing him. Yes, this is a love story. But there is so much action going on with the war, then subsequent things happening later on in the book. Oh, you didn’t think I’d give it away, did you? I can tell you that there were surprises I never saw coming. I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book.
I highly recommend both of the books in the series. You will not be disappointed.

Rebel Heart is a worthy addition to the paranormal romance genre. Intrigue mixed with romance mixed with vampires – what’s not to love? I found the author’s work to be rich in detail. The characters played well off one another and had just the right amount of flaws to be believable and relatable. The series continues to be one I would recommend in its entirety.

It is the second book in a series and I loved this story just as much as the first one. I enjoyed reading about the characters of Annie and Captain Thayer Emmerich. Annie is a beautiful, strong, independent woman. She is a spy who after one meeting can’t forget about Captain Thayer. She is drawn to him. She is someone who believes in a cause and doesn’t shy away from danger. Thayer is a German soldier. He can feel that Annie is different than others that he has met and finds himself attracted to her. He goes so far as to help her. Is this a love that has been brought together by fate? Emilia Romanov is an evil, cold, and cruel woman. She has her own agenda and plans. Will she destroy any chance of happiness for Thayer? Is there a future for Thayer and Annie? Read this book to find out. This is a story that had my emotions going up and down all the way through. You can’t help but feel the passion and desire between Annie and Thayer. There are steamy scenes that make the temperature in the room rise and your heart swoon. Annie is a character that I grew to love with each chapter that I read and wanted her to be happy. I also enjoyed reading about the characters of Millicent and Alexandre. They have their own part to play in Annie’s story. For some reason, I was initially hesitant about reading this story – I’m sure it was the space I was in at that moment. What was I hesitant for? This story is fantastic.
I was immediately invested in the characters. The story moves quickly and doesn’t use a ton of unnecessary descriptions. It is clearly well plotted from beginning to end. I read it in one sitting and read every word. There was no need to skim at any point.
There is a lot right with this book and nothing wrong with it.
This is a book I would recommend to my younger cousins and look forward to reading the next book in the series.

This was my first read by Ms. Winter, but I am a real sucker for a good vampire story, so she had me right from the beginning. Ms. Winter spins a captivating tale, with an original twist to the vampire theme. Millicent has been brooding and glum for over two hundred years mourning the loss of her soulmate, even though it happened so long ago, the pain is still fresh and the loss weighs heavily on her heart- it’s like she’d lost a part of herself. So, imagine her shock when she stops to watch a as a movie is being filmed nearby, and looks into the face from her past. The actor is the spitting image of her long lost lover. Is her grief-stricken mind playing tricks on her? Is this a freaky coincidence, or could he really be the same man? Join Millicent, Alexandre, Annie, and Jack to find out all the captivating details for yourself. This was a great story, with wonderful paranormal elements crafted in such a way that they were entirely believable. This is a story of vampires or immortals. I was glad to pick this up because it’s been a bit since I was able to indulge myself. I was a bit shocked over this story. It was not what I expected it to be. It starts off at a nice pace as we are Introduced to the characters. We meet a few humans and then everything goes haywire. Half way through there is A lot of memory sharing and inner thinking. I got a bit bored at that point. Millicent is Way overthinking the situation (I know she is a different vampire but still) It picks back up near the end for a smashing conclusion.
Vampires are my second fav paranormal story. So I have read a lot. I felt this had a some holes in it. With them being together for 240 years I would think they would know a lot more about vampires than what was led to believe. I enjoyed the story of how Alexandre enticed Millicent to him. The relationship with the human and between the 3 vampires were lovely adds to the story. Overall this is a short look into the current life of a few vamps with some flashbacks to help explain a few things. I enjoyed the explanation of the title. Very interesting and perfect! I liked this…yes i had a few issues but it is a good story and held my interest. I read it fairly quickly and the story did move along nicely. This is my first time reading this author. I am giving her second book in the series a read.

Millicent is a vampire that has been around for over two centuries. And she has been grieving the whole time. In fact, she has not been happy since she was mortal and was truly in love. But that ended up being short lived. Now she has met man who reminds her so much of him. But is it this man the one she loves or just the memory of her lost love? Plus he is human. If she wants a long relationship, she must tell him. Will it ever work?
This a paranormal romance with some suspense thrown in. There are flashbacks to tell you more of Millicent’s mortal life plus much going on in modern day. There at the relationships with her immortal family, as well as interacting with humans. She struggles daily. This book was okay to start with, but it gets quite good with the twists and turns you won’t see coming. Plus an angle that I won’t give away that I have not seen in vampire stories before.
I was intrigued with this book and I highly recommend it to those who love vampires and interesting stories.

Vampires are my go to books. I love most reads that feature blood sucking lol. I was so excited to dive into this story. Normally it’s a guy that’s the vampire and the female is just a mortal. In this story our girl has the fangs and it’s depressing. But it gets better she just has to find her happy place. The author made some surprising twist that made the story stand out more. It wasn’t a typical vampire story. Mills has a very depressing personality and it doesn’t make her likable but you do understand her. I don’t like my characters to be down 24/7. Deepest Midnight by Clara Winter is the first book in the Immortal Kindred series. This book is full of twists and turns that will take you on an amazing journey from page one. I really enjoyed how the book utterly captivated me from the word go. I became so immersed in the story and the characters. I couldn’t decide how I thought it all might end which I found really exciting. I wanted things to work out well for Millicent and I was behind her the whole way. This was such a strong and brilliant start to a new series. I cannot wait to read more.
For Millicent, a once French noblewoman turned immortal vampire, forever is a long time to live in despair. The love of her life is murdered the night she becomes immortal.
