Pump Fake: A College Sports Romance (Fall Lake Ballers, Book 2) by Isla Vaughn

A fake relationship between a fiery teacher and a notorious football star heats up into something dangerously real – but is this game worth the risk?
Brielle
Starting my teaching career as the butt of a prank gone wrong is not how I imagined things going. The hits keep coming when it’s none other than the notorious Ares Bellingham’s nephew who pulls the prank.
Ares, Fall Lake University’s most controversial rising football star, is the last person I expect – or want – to see standing in my classroom, but here he is, infuriatingly smug as he tries to fix things.
Just when I think things can’t get worse, my past resurfaces, threatening to disrupt the life I’ve worked so hard to rebuild.
But Ares has a plan, one that might be worth the Hail Mary he’s throwing my way, and suddenly my life becomes even more complicated.
Ares
One ridiculous mistake almost cost me everything – my shot at the NFL, my reputation, and my family. Now, I’m just inches away from getting benched for good.
My coach is breathing down my neck, the scouts are watching my every move, and I can’t afford another fumble.
But when my nephew’s prank lands me in Brielle Sinclair’s crosshairs, the fiery teacher with a no-nonsense attitude, I’m suddenly facing another fourth-and-long.
She needs help running interference on her past, and I need…well, I need her.
The Play
It’s simple, really.
I’ll be her pretend boyfriend to keep her tormentors at bay, and she’ll help me show the world I’m not the PR nightmare they think I am.
But as we spend more time together, faking it becomes harder, especially with sparks flying whenever I’m near her.
I’m ready to fight for her, but will she let me prove that what we have is more than just a game?
Pump Fake is a fake relationship, one-night stand turned friends with benefits, college sports romance, filled with all the heat and angst you crave – without any cliffhangers.

Quarterback Keeper: A College Sports Romance (Fall Lake Ballers Book 1)Quarterback Keeper: A College Sports Romance by Isla Vaughn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was a fan of Isla Vaughn when I discovered her Hidden Valley Elite series and was looking forward to this new series. As always, this book exceeded all my expectations.

Quarterback Keeper is the first book in the Fall Lake Ballers series, and this is Kylian and Gia’s story to share. Kylian seems to have all the good things life can offer, such as wealth and success on the football field, with dreams of making it to the NFL. Appearances can be deceiving. He is struggling with his mother’s illness and how he is going to continue paying for her treatments. In addition, his devious father, with political aspirations, is willing to do anything to get Kylian to give in to his demands.

Gia is on the run, fleeing her dangerous past, and has finally found a safe place to stay, an uninhabited boat. That safety is threatened when a stranger appears onboard one night. The stranger turns out to be the owner, none other than college football star Kylian Wilder. As the two spar through the night, Kylian comes up with an agreement that could help them both get what they want. For him, that is freedom from his demanding father; for her, it’s freedom and safety from her past. All she has to do is be his pretend girlfriend and then his fiancee. It shouldn’t be too hard, right?

As the two spend more time together, the sparks that flew that first night become hard to ignore. They move from constantly arguing to a friendship and then more. The secrets they are keeping threaten to ruin what could be the beginning of a beautiful relationship.

Vaughn did a fantastic job of creating two complex characters. Kylian is such a caring man. He is definitely a heartthrob, but as the story continues, it’s his heart that shines. His devotion to his mother melted my heart. I loved the relationship he shared with his mother. I also loved the relationship Gia develops with his mother. The moments the two women shared were some of my favorite scenes.

I started this book, and I only stopped to do the necessary things like eat! It kept my attention that much. It was the perfect balance of romance, emotion, and suspense. If you like those things in addition to strong men and women, give this series a try. I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Quarterback Keeper: A College Sports Romance (Fall Lake Ballers, Book 1) by Isla Vaughn. This is a great Young adult romance. Gia is on the run from her ex-boyfriend and has nowhere to go. It has been a few months since and she has finally stopped for more than a few days taking refuge on a small boat called the quarterback keeper. She has no idea who the boat belongs too, but no one has stopped by in almost two weeks, and she was starting to think she has stayed too long anyway. She is awakened by the fact the boat is moving and no way that anyone did not see her since she was sleeping in the only bed there is. Kylian has a lot of pressure on him such as his mother having cancer, making sure there is enough money for her treatments, making sure to continue school and still manage to focus on football and possible NFL options. Add in that his mom wants to make sure he has someone that will be there for him when she is unable too. How in the world would he be able to add dating to the list of his responsibilities he currently has. Well one look at Gia makes him decide that maybe it just might be possible to get exactly want he wants. He comes up with a plan that will help Gia and himself with a few of their problems. Thing is, can Gia trust Kylian and will outside forces make this arrangement one they will both regret.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This author has quickly become one of my favorites – the writing style, character development, balance of story with spice, just overall books I always devour because I enjoy them so much.

Kylian is a college football star with big NFL dreams. On the surface, he really has it all. He can have any woman he wants, people look up to him, and he has the world in the palm of his hands. Behind the scenes, he is a man with a terminally ill mother weighing on him as well as a manipulative father who is obsessed with his legacy and the political scene. When he gets on his boat and finds a woman hiding out, he takes advantage of an opportunity that didn’t seem like it could arise with anyone else.

Gia is the woman on Kylian’s boat and she is hiding from a past she is trying to outrun. When the incredibly handsome Kylian offers her an opportunity to fake being his girlfriend to make his sick mother happy, she recognizes it’s really a chance she can’t refuse in her current situation.

As Kylian and Gia present themselves as a couple for his mother, they never plan on doing anything but playing along. However, as they are together and facing different circumstances within their own situations, lines blur and feelings start to develop. They begin to share hopes, fears and dreams and recognize something within the other they might like to pursue. Will they be able to solve their issues together and check out the possibility of forever? Quarterback Keeper is a great mix of danger, attraction, suspense, sweetness and spice, and such a great introduction to their world. I’m really looking forward to reading further in the series.

I am such a football romance fan, and Quarterback Keeper by Isla Vaughn fits that need perfectly. This is the first story in the Fall Lake Ballers series, and it finds Gia and Kylian falling for each other after a deal they strike up to allow both of them to achieve their goals. Kylian needs to get his father off of his back because he wants him to marry a billionaire’s daughter and Gia is trying to hide from her ex-boyfriend. Neither of course, come forward with the truths until it is too late, but the twists and turns keep coming. I definitely was rooting for them and of course, they fell in love with each other a little too late.

Gia is hiding out on a boat from a horrible abusive ex. When the boat owner Kylian finds her she is sure she’s screwed. But Kylian is battling life troubles of his own with a terminally ill mother and a horribly manipulative father. So he strikes up a deal with Gia to fulfill his mom’s dying wish of him finding Love. They fake date in exchange for her having a safe place to sleep. But Kylian’s dad and Gia’s ex make multiple attempts to tear the two apart. I loved the banter, the way Gia fit in with Kylian’s mom and friends, and the twists in the story.
I have been in a horrible reading slump for awhile, trying to find time to read let alone finish books has been hard. But THIS book did it for me. I was hooked from the start and stayed up late into the night finishing it. I loved it and can’t wait to get my hands on the next one.

Wow…this book is just…. I couldn’t put it down because of how good it was. I was a bit hesitant since I am not really into football… but I am so glad I gave this book a chance. While there are scenes related to football it focuses mostly on a different plot and it was just so good. I loved watching the love blossom between everyone in this book, including the side characters. This starts as a contract relationship that benefits both parties in a positive way, not in a blackmailing type of way, that slowly turns into something real (after some drama/ angst/ breakup). This is a quick read… but that might also be because I could barely put the book down and only did so when I absolutely had to. This book does not end on a cliffhanger, but it does make me want to read Ares and Liam’s story so badly!

I love this author! One of my favorites! Quarterback Keeper gives us a promising start to a brand new series. I always love when A favorite author of mine comes out with a new series. Gives me something to get excited about and something to look forward to! Like the last series I read by this author, football is involved. Which just ticks off another box for me, I’m a sucker for a sports romance. Obviously different characters and setting but the same can’t be put down till you’re finished reading. I love the twists and turns of these books as well as the character dynamics. This new book is no different.
Gia is on the run. Hiding from an abusive ex. When she stows away on a random boat she feels she’s currently in the clear. What she doesn’t realize is that the boat’s owner is going to change her life.
Will it be for the better? Well I guess you will have to jump in to find out.
Kylian is stressed. Dealing with football, class, his mom’s prognosis, on top of his dad trying to force him into a relationship stumbles upon a happy surprise. Deciding to take his boat out one night, not realizing he has a passenger, he’s trying to clear his head. It’s not till he stumbles across Gia that he comes up with a plan. A “you scratch my back I’ll scratch yours” idea. Fake date, fake engagement, and if need be fake marriage. He wants to make his dying mother’s last wish come true, while keeping his dad at bay.
Will Gia agree? Will it actually work?
You know these stories, nothing is ever that simple. There’s always a twist. There’s always drama. And Quarterback Keeper is no different.
Now it’s up to you if you are going to jump in on Gia & Kylian’s adventure. All I can say is if you do, you won’t be disappointed!

The author hit it out of the park with this one..hmm wrong metaphor..she scored the game winning touchdown with this one! Kylian and Gia meet in an unorthodox way, but quickly figure out they can help one another and begin a “fake” relationship to meet one another’s needs….but things aren’t always so simple. Gia’s past and the danger it brings lurks beneath the pages throughout the read and Kylian’s mess of responsibilities add to the complexity.

I’m very familiar with this author and have read previous series from her, so I knew I had to pick this one up and I was not disappointed. The author, as always, put together a page-turning read with excellent characters. She has an effortless writing style that pulls you in as a reader from the first pages and makes you keep going until you’ve devoured the whole story. She has excellent character development, slowly developing and adding complexity to them throughout the story, but giving you everything you want and need as a reader. There is suspense, a bit of heat, and just an overall excellent start to a new series. I’ll be picking up every book as it releases!

This book has it all – a fake relationship, secrets, drama, and suspense. Kylian’s football life is going just as planned and his future is looking great. His personal life is another story. His mother’s terminal illness and his politician father’s manipulations are taking a toll. When he finds Gia as a stowaway on his boat, he realizes this is an opportunity to get something they both need. For Kylian it’s for his mother to see him settled into both his career and personal life and for Gia it’s a chance to stay somewhere safe and to have a nest egg for later. As time goes by they begin to get closer and things change. Will Kylian be able to earn Gia’s trust? Will Gia be able to see a way out from her past that keeps threatening her?

I found this book to be a fast paced, suspenseful drama. I always love a good fake relationship romance and this one doesn’t disappoint. From the beginning you can feel the chemistry between Kylian and Gia. Gia’s conflict within doesn’t feel forced or fake. Don’t wait to read this one!

I love Isla Vaughn’s quick witted writing style. She has a way of pulling the reader in with twisted plots. The characters may be a bit over toe top at times, but I enjoy the break from reality.

Quarterback Keeper is the first book in the Fall Lake Ballers series by Isla Vaughn. I was excited when this book came out as I have previously really enjoyed the Hidden Valley Elite series. This was a really enjoyable book and I am pleased I was all contained in the one volume rather than splitting it into two books. This books follows Gia, who is a young woman on the run from an abusive relationship, and Kylian, an aspiring Quarterback who is surprised to find Gia hiding on his private yacht. This book was really fast paced with lots of drama and a few twists. I despised Kylian’s father which is always the sign of a good read. I really enjoyed it and will definitely be reading the rest of the series.

This story was a lot deeper and more serious than I thought it would be, but I really enjoyed it and can’t wait for the next book. Kylian is the main character: star football player at the local college, mom is going through cancer treatments, and politician father who just wants to use him in his campaign. He has a lot on his plate and finding Gia on his boat is another one or could be the answer. Gia ran away from an abusive ex and is hiding out in a new city on a boat that has been empty. Yes, it is Kylian’s boat and he catches her one night when he takes it out to clear his head. They strike a bargain, she gets to stay on the boat if she pretends to be his girlfriend then wife to make his mom happy as she is dying. They are trying to make it work, they are getting to know each other, and Gia is getting to know his mom. Then Kylian’s father tries to ruin everything and Gia tries to call off the deal. This book had great twists and turns and was not all happy and sunshine, but I truly enjoyed it!

I loved the characters in this book. They were both so complex and interesting. They each had so much going on in their lives and yet, their connection was undeniable. I loved watching their relationship develop and could have easily kept reading about them. The story was well written too. I was completely invested in what was going on. This book is a fantastic start to a new series and I am really looking forward to the other books.

The characters are wonderfully driven. The two MC have an idea in mind and will pursue it but not at all costs. They seem to have good chemistry and seemed believable. Secondary characters are somewhat delightful. I really like his roommates and hope they get their own stories. I look forward to more in this series

This is the first book in the Fall Lake Ballers series. I was really excited to see another series by this author as I loved the last one and just as I thought this didn’t disappoint.

This is a sport romance where a fake relationship turns into something more and the two main characters get hit by love when they least expect it. As you can imagine with a romance that’s fake there are obstacles, lies, betrayal, emotion and drama which drags the reader into the story and doesn’t let go.
In this book we meet Kylian and Gia.
Kylian has no interest in relationships, he just wants to focus on his career and that’s it but with his mother being seriously ill and having not long left to live her one wish is to see Kylian settled with a woman who loves him.
Gia is running away from her ex. She is desperate to stay off his radar so she breaks into a boat not knowing that it belongs to Kylian.
When Kylian finds her he comes up with a plan that could suit them both. If Gia agrees to pretend to be his gf and then his wife to make his mother’s wishes come true the he will give Gia a place to stay and money to start a new life. Sounds simple right? No strings, no emotions just a business arrangement. However what will they do when they realise that they stop playing and actually start feeling for each other?

This is a really moving story, emotional story as we watch Kylian try to make his wishes come true and then as he and Gia slowly find themselves falling in love. I can’t wait to continue this series.

Absolutely loved Quarterback Keeper! It is an excellent quick read. Kylian, the QB/NFL hopeful is struggling to get out of his dad’s grips and fulfill his ailing mother’s wishes. Gia/Aurora is running from her past. The relationship blooms in front of both, without each other knowing. I loved the relationship between Aurora and Evalyn (Kylian’s mom).  Definitely looking forward to Book 2!

Quarterback Keeper: A College Sports Romance is the first book in the Fall Lake Ballers series by Isla Vaughn. This is a sports romance (football) with some romantic suspense elements, secrets, lies, a fake relationship, chemistry, passion, steam, betrayal, obstacles, threats, action, emotion, humour, second chances, damsel in distress vibes- and plenty of sweet, romantic, and tender touches that helped to balance all the emotion, drama, and angst.
Ms. Vaughn never disappoints, and even though I am not a huge sports romance enthusiast, she made me love the genre.
Kylian might seem like he has a perfect life- with a powerful family, money, successful football career, and luxurious home- but you know what they say about appearances. Kylian is buckling under the pressures of responsibility and expectation- as well as dealing with the anticipatory grief that came with his mother’s terminal diagnosis.
When Gia enters his life unexpectedly, he sees the opportunity to make his mother happy, and so he makes Gia an offer she can’t refuse. Let the fake dating begin. But with secrets, lies, combustible chemistry, developing feelings, family, and career all on a collision course- you know things are about to get more than a little interesting…
A fantastic start to this new series! I can’t wait to dive into Book #2.
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Isla Vaughn!

Quarter Back Keeper is the first book in the new Fall Lake Ballers series. I loved the previous series by the author, so it was a no brainer to pick this one up. While the theme is pretty similar to Hidden Valley Elite series, it was similar enough to hold my interest. No surprise, I am quickly hooked and will be reading book 2 soon. I like the character development, and I loved them all right away (except Kylian’s dad of course!). Gia is running from her past, but we can tell she is a strong woman. I love how she spends time with Kylian’s mom. The ending was total cliff hanger which is really annoying, but not surprising. Come on book 2 release…..

This book is book 1 in a new series that’s sure to be a hit. I’ve loved everything I’ve read by this author and am quick to read anything new released.
This book was great from the very beginning.
Kylian and Gia were great from the beginning. She clearly was a victim of some sort of abuse. She’s on the run and very jumpy. Kylian finds her hiding on his boat and figures he can come up with a plan to satisfy both of them. A fake relationship. There’s nothing he wouldn’t do for his dying mother. She wants to see him settle down before her time is up. Gia needs a place to stay. Will they be able to put on an act and fool who they need to? Kylian is set to be called up to the NFL but then he will be pictured places and Gia’s face will be plastered online and TV. She’s trying to stay hidden so her ex cannot find her. Nothing good can happen with her being photographed. This book was great. The other characters were great ( most of them ) cannot wait to see what else this amazing author has in store for us.

Isla’s new Fall Lake Ballers series kicks off with “Quarterback Keeper.” The story revolves around Kylian and Gia, both of whom harbor dark secrets. As their relationship shifts from convenience to something deeper, they find themselves entangled in a web of lies, fear, and suspense.
With manipulative fathers, abusive exes, and the constant threat of their secrets being exposed, Kylian and Gia must navigate a treacherous path. As their feelings for each other deepen, they must decide whether to risk it all to face the truth.
This emotive tale promises plenty of twists and turns, and I can’t wait to dive into the rest of the series.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a great 5 star read. I was pulled right into the story. I really liked the characters. Kylian is a quarterback and his dream is to make it big. When all his sick mom wants is for him to find someone to love. By a twist of fate, he meets Gia. Gia and Kylian come up with a plan to help each other out. Will they be able to keep their hearts out of it? Or will they get a HEA? Overall, I really enjoyed this book. All of the characters added a great element to the story. I look forward to reading more from this author and series. 1-click and get started today.

My heart was breaking for him because he’s being pulled in so many ways. This is a wonderful series that I can tell is going to be a must have. It’s full of drama, romance, big emotions and lots of “what am i going to do?: The story has a great flow. I love the dual POV. It has well=written characters.
