Murder Creek is the first book in the Eve Sawyer Mystery Series by Jane Suen. This book is a great little cozy mystery.
Eve Sawyer is a college journalism student with a talent for sniffing out a good story. So when she is driving home one day, she happens upon Murder Creek and she just knows there’s an intriguing story behind the name. With a little research, Eve discovers all the gruesome historical details that earned it that name. But also uncovers a 20 year old missing persons case which really sparks her interest. So she sets off to try and discover what happened all those years ago. Uncovering long-held secrets, will she finally find the body and give the family some much needed closure? Or will she become a statistic herself?
A story of secrets, betrayal, small town drama, and an intriguing investigation.
Looking forward to seeing what Eve gets up to in book #2.

Thank you, Jane Suen!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

In the ending credits Mya O’Malley says her book was long in the making but she thinks it was worth the wait. I find I must agree with her one hundred per cent. Matching Miriam by Mya O’Malley is a five-star story any day. A great romance, squeaky clean just the way I love them. Heartwarming and hopeful. A tricky little who done it adds just the right flavor. I love her books and I will continue to look for more.

First …. What a beautiful cover on this book!

I have read the previous three in this series and have loved every one of them, with the 1st still being my favorite. First I will say that in my opinion these must be read in order, just because of the depth of all of these characters and the previous stories were simply awesome. That’s not saying you couldn’t read this as a standalone but I’m glad I didn’t.

This was not my favorite of the 4, I was still completely invested in the story but there were just some things that did not work for me. The writing style was still completely on point and I still read this in one sitting. The unexpected twists were placed perfectly. There were more than a few times I wanted to crawl through my kindle and scream at people. It’s safe to say this was an up and down ride for me. I am glad I read Carly’s story, I was looking forward to it as I love love love the Lawson Family. The family aspect is my favorite part of all of these books. I highly recommend reading all of this series..It is that good and this author is definitely a for sure one click for me.

Mya O’Malley
5 out of 5 stars

I loved Matching Miriam from the absolute start. Mya O’Malley is an author I have loved reading since I read her Maggie trilogy. I still think of the books years later!
I loved the familiarity that came with the book, having already met Naomi in past reading. (If you’ve never read a Mya O’Malley book before, you will still understand the book entirely, it’s just extra fun otherwise).
Honestly, I am not sure how to describe Matching Miriam as a book itself. There were times I felt myself overanalyzing each character, trying to figure everything out. There were times I was actually nervous or genuinely had chills. Overall, I just loved the book and look forward to more from this author.

At Once is the second book in the Adam Brothers series by Mindy McKinley. This is a sexy, fun, and flirty contemporary romance- with just a light sprinkle of drama to keep things interesting.
Gabi Turner is all for new beginnings- and that’s exactly what she is doing, with her best friend by her side. Their interior design business is taking off and things are beginning to fall into place for Gabi. Until Mason Adams turns her carefully constructed world upside-down. This is where things take an interesting turn.
Another fun read in the series.

Daddy's Girl (Freshwater Book 3)Daddy’s Girl by Belinda Williams
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Daddy’s Girl is the third book in the Freshwater series by Belinda Williams. I was immediately drawn to this book by the pretty cover- before I even knew anything more about it. Having read the previous books in the series- it was a given that I would be reading this one as well. This is a contemporary romance with a bit of a romcom feel- all about finding love unexpectedly.
This is Em and Joel’s story, who I really enjoyed ‘meeting’. They were lovingly crafted and well developed individuals- with their own unique personalities, quirks and flaws. They were entirely endearing and relatable which made it so easy to invest in them and the outcome of their story.
Another winning ‘recipe’ in the Freshwater series.

Thank you, Belinda Williams!

Dance of Hearts: a Cinderella Regency Romance Retelling is the first book in the Historical Fantasy Fairytale Retellings series by Byrd Nash. This story was a great balance of historical, romance, and fantasy that kept me interested the whole time. I loved the innocence of this story and how parallel it was to the well known story of Cinderella. As a fan of both Cinderella and Jane Austen, this story seemed to be the perfect blend of the two. The author did a great job developing a really interesting storyline and characters within a novella setting. I look forward to reading the next story in the series.

Moonlight and BelladonnaMoonlight and Belladonna by Jae Dawson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

An engaging and enjoyable read, this is a standalone story set in Hartwood Falls at Halloween. Belladonna Pagano has to put on a Halloween production of ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ in order to wow the school board or loose her job at Hartwood High. Following her fiancé leaving her behind for his burgeoning music career she has sworn off men, especially rock stars. Meanwhile indie rock frontman Cade Owens, a chart topper with his band ‘Burning Umbrage’ returns to Hartwood Falls, a place which holds dark memories for him. A rash choice by Cade results in him doing community service with Belladonna and soon they are both risking not only their careers but their hearts. I loved the two main characters in this story as they were both very likeable and relatable. Dawson really made the characters and the setting come alive with her descriptive narrative and I felt fully immersed in Belladonna and Cade’s story.

This was an enjoyable “Small Town Valentine’s Day Romance” standalone novel by Jae Dawson. The author took me on an emotional rollercoaster whilst reading this story of Rose and Liam and their second chance at love journey. Set in Hartwood Falls, florist Rose is also an unofficial matchmaker and she has bought many couples together at her annual ‘Secret Valentines’. However Rose still thinks about her childhood sweetheart Liam who left town and left her. When cardiac surgeon Liam Bradley returns to Hartwood Falls when his career is at risk and his relationship in trouble he didn’t expect to find love especially not with the girl who he left a secret message for and never heard from again. This is a heartwarming story in which Rose and Liam have to confront their past and take a chance at love, and I was cheering them on hoping they would get their happy ever after.

Heartbeats and Roses: A Small Town Valentines Day Romance by Jae Dawson is a novel in the Hartwood Holiday Romance series. This book is a sweet and enjoyable story with some really great ideas. The whole premise of the book was fun and lighthearted – I liked everything Rose was trying to do and there were some great ideas there. I had such high expectations from this book after reading the first and unfortunately I didn’t find it to be quite as good. I found these characters a little harder to connect with. However the overall book was definitely enjoyable and worth reading as part of the series. I love the absolutely stunning covers this author seems to have on each of their books – they alone would draw me into the book as they are so striking. The author has a strong writing style and the book had a good pace to it. Although this was not quite what I had hoped for I am still very much looking forward to the next book in the series!

Dance of Hearts by Byrd Nash was a great read! I went into this novel having some idea of what to expect, as it was a retelling of the classic story Cinderella, but it completely blew away my expectations! I definitely wasn’t expecting what I got. And it was such a quick read as well, I finished it before I even realized I was close to finishing it! I wasn’t expecting it to be in a historical setting, and I really enjoyed that. It was very different from the classic tale, but so good! I loved the fairy lore involved in the retelling, and the romance as well. I’m so glad I picked this novel up to read. I can’t wait to read the next retelling!

Stormy’s Thunder (Satan’s Devils MC Utah #2) by Manda Mellett

5 out of 5 stars

I have read quite a few books written by Ms. Mellett and I think Stormy is my favorite out of all her Satan Devils MC. The characters are amazing and I love the way they play off from each other and their quirks.

Stormy is a tough cookie to crack. He has had a tuff life growing up with physical and emotional abuse from his father. Then at eighteen he has big decisions to make and after one mistake he loses everything he doesn’t know what to do with himself then comes Satan Devils he has finally found his place but, can he hold it or will he screw up again.

We saw in Roads book that Stormy wasn’t a team player and he brought the mother chapter to Utah and there are repercussions. Stormy leaves but where does he go?
With Stormy gone know one knows if he is alive or dead will he come back or is he gone for good? You really need to read this book to find out what is ticking in Stormy’s head/heart……

Ms. Mellett did an awesome job writing about Stormy and I can’t wait to see what she has in-stored for us….

Heartbeats and Roses (Hartwood Holiday Romance) by Jae Dawson – Review by Angela Hayes

Heartbeats and Roses: A Small Town Valentine's Day Romance (A Hartwood Holiday Romance)Heartbeats and Roses: A Small Town Valentine’s Day Romance by Jae Dawson
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

3 Stars

Heartbeats and Roses: A Small Town Valentine’s Day Romance (Hartwood Holiday Romance) by Jae Dawson is a sweet contemporary romance. I was drawn to the book by the beautiful cover which oozes romance. The story is not only romantic, but is also about second chances, forgiveness, taking a chance on love, and finding love unexpectedly- with a small town atmosphere, some misunderstandings, secret messages, humour, and all set around Valentine’s Day.
Rose is your quintessential romantic- and matchmaking is her game, for everyone else it seems, but not herself. Liam is a surgeon who has returned to his hometown to try and regroup after a few setbacks. But fate might have its own plan.
I really wanted to love this book so hard, and I really tried. The story was sweet, and the potential was there- but unfortunately, I just couldn’t connect with the characters- which made it difficult to invest in them and their story. It just didn’t blow me away like I had hoped it would, and maybe that is my fault for having too high an expectation. Maybe I will have better luck with the next book in the series.

Thank you, Jae Dawson!
