Wow!! Family Ties Family lies was an amazing story. This one was definitely a page turner for me. It was so hard to put the book down. The author pulls you in from the first page to the last. The plot had so many surprises it was amazing.

With so many different points of view, it’s hard to really write a good synopsis. It seems that Basil is mostly the main character, since a prophecy of his arrival has been told. His mother was a slave, she begged the mage who was helping her deliver Basil, as a baby, to either kill him or take him away to have a good and safe life. The mage then took him under his wing as an apprentice. Along the way, Basil has to discover who he is and who he is meant to be.
This book was too long and dense in my opinion. With over 1300 pages and like 30 POV’s from very different and complex characters, I found it very difficult to keep track of everything going on. Everyone had their own sub plot and their own personality traits. The author put a lot of detail and effort into each character and their background stories, which is an amazing feat in itself, but also made it hard to immerse myself into the world.
I did enjoy all of the diversity that the author created. Mages, vampires, demons plus many more. The author did a wonderful job with world building and I was fond of that aspect. The book has a lot of potential. It was interesting but would be received better if there were less characters introduced during this debut novel to the series. I am hoping the next installment will be smaller in more ways than one.

This is a hot and steamy romance which kept me happily turning the pages. Cy has been sent into Sweetopia, an amusement park owned by his family, as an undercover boss. He needs to identify which of the employees have been organising strikes. However , he didn’t expect to be falling in love with the prime suspect, Jolie who portrays ‘The Red Velvet Queen’. Jolie is a single Mum of two young sons, one of whom has cystic fibrosis who is having to work two jobs. When a handsome coworker starts visiting her in her dressing room it provides her with a much needed distraction. Jolie is also determined to hold her bosses accountable and is pleased with the steps taken so far. Whilst Cy is worried about loosing Jolie if she finds out that he’s the heir to the Sweetopia fortune, she’s concerned that if he finds out who she is under the wig and costume that he will leave. Eventually their true identities will be revealed and they will have to decide what happens next with their relationship. The chemistry between Cy and Jolie sizzles off the page and leads to some rather steamy scenes. The characters and the setting come to life through the descriptive narrative and I felt immersed in the storyline. An enjoyable and engaging read with plenty of steamy romance!

I thought the premise of this book was intriguing, with paranormal elements, shapeshifters, fae, magic, romance, and action. Stevie Capot awakens in 1745, North Carolina with no idea who she is or with no memory of her past. She is taken in by a widower and his son, but has to leave after 10 years when she shows no sign of aging and questions are starting to be asked. This sets off 150 years of moving from place to place, before settling in Sedna, Washington, where she becomes the leader in a community of the poorest residents and tries to look after them any way she can. This leads to a run-in with the local marshall and she encounters 3 other men with links to her past. These men are shapeshifters and warlocks and each encounter offers a tantalising glimpse and dreams of who she might have been in the past, though they each have their own agenda. The story is told from multiple viewpoints which sometimes makes the story choppy and interrupts the flow. Several times I had to go back to see who was talking, and there was a lot of telling, not showing. I found the dialogue to be inconsistent, especially the ‘Scottish brogue’ that Stevie is supposed to have. The ending is an interesting cliffhanger and I am interested enough to discover what happens in the next book.

My son loved this. He loves fireflies and enjoyed learning about them. He can’t wait for the snow to melt so he can dig and try to find some himself. The information at the end of her books is always a nice bonus. The illustrations were detailed and cute.
It was an informative read. It teaches kids that there is a lot of work and research to do before you can bring a new pet home. It was an easy read and it held my son’s attention. He liked seeing all the different types of dogs.

She gets more of an adventure than she anticipated when she is bumped into by a woman named Megan who happens to look just like Evelyn. In the confusion Evelyn and Megan ended up with one another’s bags and Evelyn panics because her bag contains all her important research papers. When Evelyn heads to lost and found to drop off the mystery bag she is quickly abducted by a strange man who mistakes her as the mystery girl Evelyn had bumped into earlier. The strange man turns out to be a PI who is trying to protect Megan from a crime family. Before long Evelyn finds herself wrapped up in a mystery that involves trying to take down a notorious crime boss. The stakes are high, and danger lurks around every corner for Evelyn, Patrick, and their friends. Evelyn is strong, feisty, determined, and tough as nails in the face of danger. Wow this book was definitely not what I expected. This is a paranormal romance with intrigue, secrets, twists and turns which mean I couldnt put it down. The author does an incredible job with the characters. I loved Elsbeth how she was prepared to take a chance of a life lives on her terms no matter the cost.
Elsbeth’s life seems to be on a downward spiral, with her father dying of cancer, her relationship with her sister breaking down and finding out her boyfriend was cheating on her everything seems to be happening all at once. She needs to escape and that way of escape appears thanks to her great aunt. When a letter arrives telling her she has inherited her great aunt’s house she jumps at the chance to relocate but her dreams of a new start aren’t as great as they seem. From the second she arrives the state of the house makes her want to give up but she stays. During this time she meets 3 men. Ambrose is just like her ex and is giving her alsorts of red flag warning noises. Ben is a nice friendly guy who is helping her out and seems to have become her rock but can he really be trusted? And finally we have Bishop, the handsome mysterious man. The attraction between them is undeniable but Bishop isn’t all he seems, he is so much more than expected. As she gets to know these 3 men and learns the history about the house and island she now owns strange things start to happen and Elsbeth is forced to make decision she wished she didn’t have to.
This is a gripping read. At first it feels like a normal romance story and then the paranormal elements kick in and the book becomes so much more. I really enjoyed being taken on this journey with Elsbeth and I can’t wait to read more from this author.

Jinx has been in love with Logan pretty much since they met…as Logan is Jinx’s brother’s best friend. Victor warned Logan that his little sister was off limits. When Logan disappears after a falling out with Victor, Jinx is confused and heart broken. But, when Jinx and Logan run into each other when he comes back to town…the sparks are still there. These two share a night that was a long time coming. However, Logan doesn’t want to come between Jinx and her family since they have all sided with Victor after the falling out. Jinx is determined to get to the bottom of what happened that night and see if there is a future of her and Logan.
I loved Jinx! She is strong and determined. Her feelings for Logan can be felt coming off of the pages. This book had a lot jammed into such a short book….brother’s best friend/little sister, second chance, drama, angst, spice…it’s all there. This was a quick and easy read. I was able to finish it in one sitting. Highly recommend!

As we continue into Zachary and Ashton’s relationship, they are trying to find the trust that they have developed in the club and establish it in the outside world. That seems a lot easier said than done, especially when Ashton receives a job offer that will have her moving away. Secrets come out, the past rears its head, and it seems like everything is not how it seems. Will these two be able to work through it and maintain a real relationship? Or, do they really only work when they are at the club?
Managing Mischief continues the dom/sub relationship between Zachary and Ashton. And, don’t get me wrong, there are some hot and spicy scenes. However, the focus shifts to how their relationship will work beyond the walls of the club…and I’m here for it. There was drama and ups and downs, just like any relationship. When they finally hit their breaking point…it was needed! I enjoyed these characters, and look forward to where the third book will lead me. While this is the second book in the Shattered Embrace series, and it follows the same couple from the first book, I don’t think you have to read the first book to understand what is going on….but it would give you some context and backstory of both characters.
This is a fun, colorful book with a different take on mermaids. Each page talks about a different kind or mermaid and how unique they are and with different tail designs. It is a beautifully illustrated book celebrating the uniqueness of each mermaid tail as well. In addition to a fun story coming through the pages, the author also included facts about the ocean and other sea animals, so there is also a fun educational element! I believe this would be enjoyed by parents and kids alike!

Web of Evil is the second book to the absolutely incredible Hani’s Daughter Mysteries series. N.L. Holmes came back to continue with Neferet and her friends in another fantastic book. I adored book one and of course had to come and read the second one immediately. Once again, the writing is beautiful, the characters are scarily real, and it will hook you in immediately. I recommended the first book, and I recommend this one as well, however definitely read Flowers of Evil first!

Flowers of Evil by N. L. Holmes is the first book in the Hani’s Daughter Mysteries series. I’m sure I’m not the only one who can say that I could just feel the love and time the author put into this project, with all its vivid imagery and historical mentions. The characters in this practically jump off the page, they were so well written. It was hard not to read this in one sitting, I kept having to remind myself of things I needed to do to get myself to put it down! I wholeheartedly recommend not just this series but this author as a whole!

The Better Man is the superb second book in the Silver Buckle Brides series by Laurie Lewis. After reading most of Ms. Lewis’s books now, and having loved ‘Cross Country Christmas’, the first book in the series, there was no question as to whether I would want to read this book or not, instantly snapping up a copy as soon as I saw it had released… I love all of Ms. Lewis’s books, and I love how she infuses so much heart and soul into her stories, leaving them brimming with emotion. Her characters are always so well developed and have so much depth to them, they really bring the story to life and deliver all the ‘feels’. Looking forward to the next release from Ms. Lewis! Fay’s Kindness Parade is the fifth book in The Adventures of Cray series by G Pa Rhymes. This is such a cute series of books and I have really enjoyed reading the charming books with my young grandchildren- Cray, Hay, Gray, Fay, and Ray have such fun adventures, and always learn something along the way. This story sees Cray the crab set off on an adventure with Fay the turtle when she sets off on her annual migration. All their other friends had plans, and Fay didn’t want Cray to be alone, so she invited him along. They set out and immediately begin doing small acts of kindness, making new friends along the way. Through their acts of kindness, they spread love and good vibrations, and as their new friends join them, a parade is formed. This was such a lovely story that also imparts messages of being kind, helping others, teamwork, friendship/making friends, compassion, empathy, contributing to the community, enriching lives, and facts about turtle migration. Again, this fun story is accompanied by lots of lovely, bright, colourful, interesting, and engaging illustrations — which help to bring the whole story to life. G. Pa Rhymes tells another really cute tale in his clever rhyming/rapping storytelling style, which adds an extra element of interest to the whole story. Easy to read. Educational. Fun. Interesting. A cast of endearing animal friends. Wonderful illustrations. Cute story. Well worth the read. Finders Keeper, Cowboy is the first book in the Match Made in Montana series by new to me author, Rachelle Paige Campbell. Because this is the first book that I have read by Ms. Campbell, I really didn’t know what to expect from one of her stories- but it sounded sweet, and I thought it might make a good ‘palate- cleanser’ between some of the more thrilling/darker reads I have been devouring of late. So I took a chance, grabbed a copy, and jumped right in. What I discovered is a contemporary small-town enemies to lovers romance with a ‘clean’ storyline, a western feel with cowboys and ranches, forced proximity, secrets, drama, angst, emotion, slow-burn, and family dynamics. I must be honest here, as these two characters really frustrated me to no end. They really rubbed me the wrong way, and because of that I found it really difficult to connect with them and get invested in the outcome of their story like I was hoping to. But as this is the start of a new series, I am curious to see what Book #2 may offer- so stay tuned. Happy Reading…

Zachary and Ashton are back in this 2nd book of the Shattered Embrace Series and I am loving it. It brings you further into their exploration of their developing relationship and the world of D/s. I have truly come to love these characters so I really enjoyed reading more about them. During this book we also learn more about Zachery. Now, yes you could just start here with this book and I think you’d still follow the storyline ok BUT I highly recommend starting the series at the beginning with Book 1 to fully enjoy all that happens and these wonderful characters. You will not regret even for a second reading as much as you can by this very talented author.

Jinx and Logan have had an attraction and connection for many years that neither acted upon especially when years ago Logan became off limits, as far as her family is concerned. When they meet again at a wedding that pull of their connection draws them in like never before. I truly loved these characters and the storyline that flowed effortlessly through this wonderful book. I was captivated from start to finish! While this is book 9 in this series, you can absolutely 100% read it and thoroughly enjoy it even if you haven’t read any of the others. I do recommend checking out the others though because it really is a great series by a talented author.

This wonderful story introduces children to the amazing world of fireflies as we learn about their lifecycles and what they do in our gardens. There is magic in Loretta’s garden and engages children with the prose and illustrations. Highly recommended.
This book imagines the different types of mermaids we have in our seas and introduces the idea that mermaid’s tails are like fingerprints and they are all different and unique. The story is accompanied by lovely illustrations and is great for all ages.
I loved this next story in the Invisible Magic Wand present. It’s really enjoyable to see what Caspian’s grandad does for his unbirthday next. The story is fun with brilliant accompanying illustrations.
The Lord of Lust strikes again with this collection of novellas to be enjoyed. The collection of novellas encapsulates every kink which I loved! There is truly something for everybody!

Neferet and Bener-ib develop an adventure of mystery and thriller where all can happen. The book takes time to get to the point, it does give you a lot of information that could be incorporated through the story in order to not feel overwhelmed from the first page. This was a steamy 5 star read. This is Zach and Ashton’s story. I highly suggest reading book 1 first. I like the duo POV so that we can see what they both are thinking. They continue to explore their relationship and try some things. The author does such a great job with her writing you feel like you are right there with the characters. Will Ashton let herself fully go or will she hold back on some things? Overall I really enjoyed this read. There are several steamy scenes that could melt your kindle. I absolutely love reading about all of Loretta’s adventures with my little one, that includes this one 🥰 I have a whole bunch of fireflies where we live and I can’t wait til they start to come out. We love running around trying to catch them. And after reading this I learned a new way to draw them in, that I can’t wait to use lol. It was a quick read but very interesting and informative. As always I love these little tidbits at the end of the books. This one gave me some facts I didn’t know and I’m glad to know them now. I know these are for manly for little ones (which mine loves them) but I love them also and can’t wait for more!!🥰
This book was really cute! I highly recommend this book. I loved all the fun facts in it. I think this is a good book to read to a group of kids and then ask them questions to see if they were listening to the fun facts. Can’t wait to read more.
I have some conflicting thoughts on this story. First of all, I love how this book features a “seasoned” woman at the center of the story. It’s refreshing to read a book like this as they are so rare.
Laura is a widow of approximately five years who has recently joined a book club. The members of the club have encouraged her to “take a chance” on life. That chance is what is leading Laura to England, where she will be pet-sitting for a couple going on holiday. While out walking the dogs one day, Laura comes in contact with Hugh, and after a rather humorous misunderstanding, the two meet up and have dinner together. One thing leads to another and Laura finds herself in a whole new world that she’s never expected.
Second, I love that this is a mostly clean romance novel. There were innuendos at times between two adults old enough to make decisions but that is all they were. It’s actually a very sweet romance that blossoms between Laura and Hugh.
Third, I love the character of Celeste. You have to read the book to see why!
The part that I did not like is the twist. I found myself feeling betrayed after investing into this story. My opinion of several characters changed and I had a hard time forgiving them, even when things worked out as I would have hoped in the end. I had some trust issues with this one.
Overall, an enjoyable read and I look forward to reading future books in this series.
