Leaving Jackson Wolf By P. A. Kane. While not my typical read I did enjoy this coming of age story that made me think about my own life a little. This is my first book by this author and I’m glad I picked it up. Like I said it was a bit different for me but it had me intrigued from page one. With its relatable characters and well written storyline it’s one you shouldn’t miss out on. There’s definitely hard times and situations faced in this story but the author writes about them well. If you’re looking for something a bit different and unique pick this book for sure. I’ll definitely be looking into this author again.

This is the first book in The Confectioner Chronicles and i really enjoyed it. Its a YA murder mystery that has magic.. OH and of course it has FOODDD! What more could a girl ask for? I had no idea what was going to happen as i turned the pages and i was guessing til the very end. I am looking forward to reading the second installment in this series and also wouldn’t mind reading more by this author too! (btw i adore this books cover!! its perfect for the story!) A little twist for the holidays. When Mel finds herself in a country where she doesn’t know the language who would’ve guessed that love would be in the air. I guess that’s one language everyone knows even when they don’t speak the same language. I liked that the author brought another culture into play and used the language instead of just having the characters speak English. The story was good even though it was not believable. The Progeny Assassin: A Tarnished Lands Story (Forgotten Woods Book 2) by P.A. Wikoff was a fast moving,engaging, intrilling read that had me hooked from start to finish.
Not my first read by this author or in this series, but even though this is book two, it reads as a standalone. So if you haven’t read that first book, no worries, but I do suggest reading it as it does set the stage for this dark, deadly world. That and, it’s a pretty amazing book in its own right.
This book takes place in another part of the Tarnished lands. Following our MC Lara, a deadly feathered-folk warrior and, her journey towards finding her true place in that hellish world. I must say right away I liked Lara. There was just something.. there about her. I can’t explain it, because I’ll get too much into her, and I don’t want to spoil anything. Let just say, she’s what all female protagonist should inspire to be.
Rich with the dark tones that were present in that first book, the writing is just as sinister and the detail just as darkly picturesque, painting the horror that is the Tarnished Lands. This original thriller is on a different level of good, and I’m stressing to you, that you need this book in your lives. Not just this book, but the first as well.
With that said I’m going to leave you with my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval.

The Confectioner’s Coup by Claire Luana is the second book in the Confectioner Chronicles series. I recommend having read the first book first because this picks up the story from the first book. The story continues for Wren and things are not looking good for her and others in the guild. Guild members are going missing and the King is out of control. I have enjoyed this as well as the first book and the novella. The writing is well written and entertaining. This is a twist and turn thriller that at times kept me on the edge of my seat. I like the characters and the story is interesting and well thought out. I look forward to reading the next book in the series and seeing where the story goes.
Surviving Eden is the opening act to Virginia Wine’s Surviving Series. I read the fourth book first and she pulled me in with that story so I knew that I had to go back to the beginning and yes, Archer was also in this very first book and I know if I had started with this one, I would have gone on to read the rest of the series AND I do have the second and third book already downloaded on my app! Surviving Eden is the story of Dr Theodore Grant and Eden Barrett. Both of them have experienced extreme loss and despite the age gap (Eden is the adult daughter of Theo’s dead friend) and professional therapist-client relationship, these two lost souls will seek comfort and healing in each other! These personal losses change one’s life, fundamentally, and they force us to re-evaluate our lives and change the direction we were heading to! The story gives are twists and turns, heat, steamy sex scenes and romance …. I loved Theo and Eden for themselves and for each other and I loved Theo’s friends and I cannot wait for their stories (and I already know Archer’s story) and if they are anything like Theo and Archer’s stories then man, we are in for a treat!

The Confectioner’s Coup (The Confectioner Chronicles #2) by Claire Luana was just as good as the first and, had me just as engaged and hooked.
The second book in The Confectioner Chronicles we are once again tossed back into the fire. With the happenings all concluded in the first and Wren being aquitted for a crime she didn’t even commit, things seems like they’re on the up. But, with this world and the way their monarchy works, things don’t stay quiet for long.
I will say that I was a little worried that this book may not live up to the first. As that first book was a rare read first installment where things actually concluded, and if the series were to end at that book, even with its loose ends, I would have been content. (As all first books should be). But this book has done what I’ve been yearning for, it went in and rose the bar. That’s right, this book took it up a notch and, man oh man, this was one hell of a ride.
Masterfully written this beautiful dangerous world isn’t like anything I have read before. It just keeps hitting me with new fresh ideas and plots, that I can’t believe this book, this series, isn’t more popular. Not only are we treated with talented writing but, the emotions behind that wiriting gets you right in the feels. The character are more than well rounded they’re 3D, believable and multi layer, as is the plot. I can go on and on about how utterly amazing this book/ series is, but I’m going to leave you here, so you can hop along and get this book to experience its greatness for yourself.
This book gets my highest of high recommendation and my golden stamp of approval.
A Frothy Christmas Kiss was a fun 4 star read and the fourth book in the Christmas Kiss series.
Kat is starting over in a new place because she didn’t want a relationship with someone she considered a friend and nothing more. It’s hard because every time something exciting happens to her she can’t call and share it with him.
She is excited that she has found a new coffee place and they have so many different flavors. Because she knows so much about coffee Dan offers Kat a job. These two seem to have an instant connection physically and about coffee knowledge.
Why did her heart beat a little harder when he was near? What was it that pulled her towards him?
Could a misperception of something on Kat’s part put a damper on things? Can these two have a HEA?
All of the secondary characters were great,I loved the cat, that was a fun addition to the story as well. I really liked Kat and Dan, their story was great and it made your heart melt. Allyson R. Abbott has once again drawn me in with her writing and I enjoyed reading all of the books in the Christmas Kiss series. They can all be read as stand alones. If you’re looking for fun short Holiday romance reads this is the series for you.

A Tangy Christmas Kiss, Christmas Kiss Book 2 by Allyson R. Abbott. This is the second book in the Christmas Kiss Series. When Mel gets a phone call from her mother, asking her to drop everything and go house sit for her aunt while she is in the hospital, she is relieved in a way, she could use a getaway. What should be an easy flight and trip, turns into a what will go wrong, can go wrong type of trip. From her flights being botched and having extremely long, crazy layovers to meeting a sexy, sweet fellow passenger, and let’s not forget the language barrier. Will the rest of this voyage go as planned or is this just a taste of what is yet to come. I truly enjoyed this book and can not wait for more from this series and also this author.

Claiming Her Mates: Book One: (A paranormal shifter romance series) by Dia Cole. I was definitely taken by surprise with this unique take on shifter romance story. I knew going in I was in for quite the ride but I got so much more than I was expecting and all in a good way. Each character brings something unique and different to the story and it’s well written with some very steamy parts. This is my first book by this author and I can’t wait to read more! From page one I was completely hooked and couldn’t stop reading until I hit the end. If you’re looking for a paranormal romance with so twists and turns then this is for you. I’m giving this book a four star review and highly recommend it to anyone.

Oh my god, this book was amazing! I could not put it down. It was filled with action, lies, deceit and betrayals. Wren manages to not get executed but ends up in more trouble in this book. Guild members are getting kidnapped and an army is at the gates of Maradis ready to invade. Negotiations for the accord are not going well and there is dissension within the guilds. War is imminent and everything is falling apart, a rebellion might be the only solution.
The action starts right from the beginning and continues straight through until the end. There are so many twists and turns. When I finished reading the book, I was left speechless. Shocking events occur within this book. Characters that I didn’t really like in the first part, I found myself cheering for. Characters that I loved, I’m upset with. My emotions are all over the place. These characters go through so much in this story. Wren’s new found family has fallen apart and she’s adrift in a sea of sorrow. I am right there with her. This series keeps getting better with each additional book, I’m truly blown away. I can’t wait to read part three.
A great read about law. Karina Cardinal survived the events of the last novel and has a new job lobbying for health bills. When a prominent senator drops down dead in front of her, Karina’s world is turned upside down once again. With Mike on her heels from the FBI, she struggles to know who to trust. Trusting her instincts, she enters a world of cloak and dagger and secrets close to the chest as she tries to discover the truth behind the senators death. Can she find out the truth before its too late? A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns. Well developed characters like Karina standing up for herself and doing whats right under stress and more to Mike as he struggles with his feelings while on the job. Great cast of supporting characters like Latesha as a fun friend or Rodrigo sophisticated gentleman or even the kindly Senator Harper. I loved the visual detail throughout the novel like with the coffee shop with Latesha as something comforting and familiar or the lunch place busy and full of life and people. Or in particular, the funeral scenes `with the use of colour with deep blacks contrasting with the flowers perfectly. with the sense of a well loved man in the place full of people with the choir and the Tyger for an excellent use of sound and making his death even more emotive. or the combination of realism with the hotel lobby and bizarre crowns gold against the white and black beautifully written. Once again, the use of suspense was wonderfully written, drawn out to perfection to keep you reading to uncover the mystery. Fast paced action and high stakes make for a captivating read. Overall, a great read and I would give it five stars.

I adore this author! I enjoyed her Moonburner series but after reading this book, I know I’m going to love this one! Claire Luana is so talented and imaginative. Who would have thought about putting magic in cupcakes?
Wren doesn’t know she possesses magic and infuses it in the desserts she makes. The secret is revealed to her when she’s asked to join the Confectioners Guild. Unfortunately she’s framed for murder soon after. Now she must navigate her way through the political and magical mess to clear her name. Not knowing who to trust, Wren must get to the bottom of the conspiracy.
This is the first book in this series and it will keep you intrigued until the very end. Just when you think you have it figured out, the author throws another loop at you. I loved the characters and the storyline is so interesting. Towards the end I was literally holding my breath waiting to see what would happen. I can’t wait to read the next part!
Surviving Eden by Virginia Wine is the first book in the Surviving series. This book is one that centres around a taboo subject so might not be for everyone. However this book is definitely worth reading if you give it a go. I was unsure as to how I would feel about this bill at first but when I got into I enjoyed the story. Although it is based around an older man/younger woman romance to me it almost had the same feel as a best friends sibling type story – forbidden fruit that you just can’t help but sample. The author writes so well that you are drawn into the story gently and she quietly gets you hooked. Having read other books by this author I knew this would be enjoyable but I was surprised by just how much I liked it. It is a well developed plot with well developed characters. I would definitely recommend giving this book a try.

This is not the type of book that I usually read but I decided to step out of my comfort zone a little. I’m glad that I did, this was a poignant story. On the surface it is a story about two teens who are bullied that become friends but it is so much more. It is a story about a friendship that grew from unlikely circumstances, about growing up and discovering the person you are and the person that you want to be. It is about facing harsh realities and overcoming them. It is about becoming stronger through adversity. It is about the bonds that tie people together.
I think that the book was well written and speaks volumes. It is my first book that I have read from this author and I will definitely be looking for more.

Fatal Legislation; a novel by Ellen Butler is the second book in the Karina Cardinal Mystery series. This book is a gripping tale with twists and turns that will leave your head reeling. When a debtor drops dead at her feet Karina quickly becomes a person of interest. In a bid to help herself she begins her own investigation. But can she work out who is responsible before she is blamed? This book is just as good as the first. It is well written and captivated you immediately. It is faced paced and will keep you on the edge of your seat. As much as o tries to guess who was responsible the author did such a good job at misdirection that I never could figure it out. A brilliant book.

I loved this Christmas Kiss novel. Kat was a wonderful character. I found it easy to relate to her in that I am also a coffee addict. I also loved Brian the cat and Dan. Dan had a great disposition, work ethic, and sounded like a hunk. I literally could not stop reading this novel. Excellent addition to this series.

I was completely consumed with The Crazy Yates from Kimberly Packard. I have really grown to love Packard this year with her Phoenix series and so when I found out that she had a Christmas novella it seemed like a perfect way to round out my years TBR list. I have to say I am so glad that I did. This was so sweet and as much as I loved the heartwarming and quirky moments there were a few where I felt the hint of a tear slide down my cheeks as well. Like I said this is a novella, so pretty short, but don’t let that fool you. A lot is going on but you don’t feel rushed or too overwhelmed either. I was actually really surprised to find out that Packard wrote this in just a matter of days! This book really must have just flowed from her heart! I won’t divulge too much, other than you really must for yourself join Callie Yates and her family for a short while this holiday season.
Noooooooooooooooooo!!! How could Charli B Rose do this to me? You get all built up and fall in love with these 2 characters and then you are left with that cliff hanger!! I cannot deal with how this book leaves you. Beats of the Heart is a beautifully sweet, heartwarming love story. Our 2 main characters Izzy and Dawson totally worship the ground that each other walks on. Their love for each other is so deep and seemingly unbreakable. Best friends since the age of six and now 3 years into a relationship with each other, Izzy and Dawson are loving life and have so many plans for their future together. Dawson is the frontman of a hugely successful rock band. The record company want the band to appear single and therefore more accessible to their hordes of adoring female fans, so Dawson and Izzy have to keep their relationship secret. As photographs of the couple start to emerge, life gets tough for Izzy and Dawson. Do Izzy and Dawson get their HEA? That is the million dollar question and I can’t wait for the second book in this series to come out to find out the next instalment in Izzy and Dawson’s story. A word of warning, if you read this book before the second book comes out then be prepared to scream when you finish the first book as you will definitely want to jump straight into book 2.

The story The Progeny Assassin: A Tarnished Lands Story (Forgotten Woods Book 2) by P.A. Wikoff is a wonderful fantasy book that I loved reading. It is a story that has action and adventure. I enjoyed reading about the character of Lara. She is a feathered-folk who finds herself on a journey. She is both interesting and intriguing. Lara is a character that has questions and soon finds that the journey she is taking is not what she expected. She faces conflicts. There are times of danger and discovery. There is an amazing job of world building. The story is detail oriented and I felt like I was right there with Lara on her journey, seeing and feeling what she did. Read this story to find out all about what happens on Lara’s journey. This is a book that once I started reading hooked me in and I found myself lost in the story. I enjoyed this book just as much as the first one. I look forward to reading the next story in the series.
Brooke May is a new author to me, and I find that she is a great writer. In these times when everything else is going wonky, it is nice to know that there are books that can take your mind off things for a while and escape into a book. A Second Chance is that book. This book has it all, werewolves, action, heartaches, secrets, love, trust, and second chances. I can tell that Brooke put all of herself into this story. The characters are believable, and the scenery is beautiful. Story is about Derek and Annabelle. Derek gave his heart and soul to one lady. This is what is the norm, together forever. Once your heart is broken by your true soul mate it is hard to trust others with your heart. The walls are there, and they do not come down easily. Annabelle who left her past there in the past push forward and did not want to go back. She received news that her father was on his death bed. She had a hard reality check; does she go back and face her past or keep moving forward with her new life. Will she see her ex and if so, what will the encounter be like? Will there be a Second Chance for them? Read on to see what the answer to this burning question.

Beats of the Heart is the first in an exciting contemporary romance duet. Set in the crazy world of the music industry, we meet two young lovers as they try to maintain their relationship amidst the madness of a rock stars life. This book easily swept me off my feet and I was lost in the story almost instantly. If you like your musical reads with added heartbreak, this book is definitely for you!
Although only a short read, Beat of the Heart packs A LOT in. The heat and passion starts immediately and doesn’t let up. I loved both Izzy and Dawson and the innocence and purity of their relationship. In the blurb this book promise a best friends-to-loves romance, and although we didn’t really get to learn much about that in the book, I love the premise behind it. This book delivers a beautiful love story in the little pages it has and I cannot fault the author for this. Izzy and Dawson’s relationship feels real and believable, which can so often be missed by authors. I connected with the pair and found myself really wishing for their happiness. Whilst there won’t be any huge spoiler here, I will say that you need to be prepared for some shocks. The end of this read was a killer, especially as part two isn’t out yet!
Simply put, I loved this little read. It was thoroughly satisfying and has left me very happy on Wednesday evening. I cannot wait until the next part is released (I need it now!) and will be telling lots of people about how good this read is. If a romantic, music read is what you’re looking for, Beats of the Heart will perfectly hit the spot!

Fatal Legislation: A Novel is the second book in the Karina Cardinal Mystery Series by Ellen Butler. This book can be read as a standalone, but I can’t think of one reason why you wouldn’t want to read the first book in this series. This political mystery thriller left me reading long past my bedtime to find out what would happen next. The twists and turns had me thinking, who did it throughout most of the book. This book follows Karina Cardinal as she plows through Washington DC politics to discover what really happened to and who killed Senator Harper. I’m really enjoying this series and hope to read more by Ellen Butler in the future. If you like a good murder mystery this is the right book for you.
Claiming Her Mates is book one and is part of the Paranormal Shifter Romance by Dia Cole. Having never read this author before, I was excited to see what was being delivered. I was not disappointed. I don’t often read paranormal romances, and it is even rarer for me to pick up a shifter romance. I am glad I did.
Havana has her hands full of with not one but three men. Mason, Gabriel and Liam take caring for Havana very seriously, and will do everything in their power to keep her safe. Claiming Her Mates is a steamy romance that will heighten the senses and raise the heartbeat. The author spun the tale brilliantly and each character complimented the other, and the guts of the story was evident and entertaining. 4 stars

Beats of the Heart is book one in the Lyrical Rock Star series by Charli B. Rose. This is my first time reading this writer’s work, and wow, it was crazy good. The story ignites slowly and deliciously, sucking a reader in until they know nothing else but the characters.
What a tale was spun. It was heated with tension and sexual desire. The physical, mental and visual attraction that sizzled between Izzy and Dawson. The ups and downs were plentiful, the attraction knew no limits, and the talent was inspiring. An epic 5 star read that will leave you gasping for the next instalment.

I’m at a loss for words. This book literally left me breathless. It is beautifully written and composed. I simply couldn’t put it down and truly didn’t want it to end. The author does a masterful job weaving the fabric of this tale together in such a way as to capture the reader’s heart in the process. Wonderful.

Degrees of Power A Prestian Series Book 4 By Via Mari ☆☆☆☆☆ This is the fourth book in the series. As the suspenseful romance continues. So does the story. Must be read in order. Not for those under 18, due to violence and strong adult content.
Katarina and Chase continue their hot steamy romance. Along with the continued struggle to trust each other. Which proves to be hard at this time. As Alfreita continues to attack both Katarina and Chase’s families and friends. Now Katarina must allow Chase to protect her and she must relinquish her control.
Via Mari has done it again! This story may be continuing. But so much more has been added. This is one fast paced suspenseful rollercoaster. I loved every page of this book! Her book hit every feel there is. I laughed, cried and got so angry, yet I had to finish this fantastic story. Once you start that first page,you won’t stop till the end.

A Frothy Christmas Kiss, by Allyson R. Abbott, is the fourth book in the Christmas Kiss series. This story was the epitome of holiday sweet. The characters were serene, idealistic and shy in their own rights. There is a spark there, it just needs more to ignite. The coffee shop theme, the cat, and each of the characters made this story fun to read and a well done page-turner. A great addition to the Christmas Kiss series.

Snatching Dianna is the first book in Seelie Kay’s Feisty Lawyers’ series! What an opening to the series! When you read about the writer and her background, you tell yourself, oh my, I cannot wait for more! I know the second book is coming out in January and I tell you, it feels way too long away … Seelie gives us 2 very interesting couples – law professor Janet MacLachlan and secret agent Cade Matthews, and small-town Police Chief David Manders and criminal defence attorney Julianna Constant … these two couples are left to figure out what is going on in the suburban Milwaukee college where blond and blue-eyed girls have disappeared! The story is short but intense and it hangs so well together that at no point you think that it is too fast and the writer is jumping over things … I wish it would be made into a TV series … maybe once a couple more installments are out … it would make great TV! It gives us everything – danger, suspense, international crime, steamy relationships, banter … I think I will have to go and read the other stories the writer has published as it seems that our main couple headlines quite a few of them! Great job Ms Kay and please, keep the Feisty Lawyers’ busy so that we can pour another glass of wine and read away!

5 Star Beachcomber Gone: Beachcomber Investigations Book 9 By Stephanie Queen is the ninth book in the Beachcomber Investigation series. I highly recommend if you haven’t already read the other books in this series you should. I’ve truly enjoyed this whole series and I just love Dane and Shana. This story is about Dane and Shana and them traveling to Australia so Dane can meet Shana’s family. But plans get changed when her mom is used for bait and threats are made. Sometimes things aren’t as they seem. Someone is out to set Shana up. Will they find out whom is responsible before it’s too late? I definitely was on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what happens next. I highly recommend reading this, not only this book but this whole series. I look forward to reading more from this author.
