Shadowed Agenda: An Enemies to Lovers Action-Packed Romantic Suspense Thriller (Shadow Defense Security Series Book 2)

As much as I enjoyed the first book in this series I think I loved this one more. I was completely sucked in from the first page until the very end.

This book has a little bit of everything a hot protective alpha, mystery, danger and romance.

Pavlo and Regan worked from the very beginning, even though they didn’t get along and were thrown together due to the book convention.

Regan is the type of woman I strive to be and stick to my beliefs no matter how difficult it may be and it was very difficult for her to do it.
This is definitely worth the time and I can’t wait to read more.

Regan and Pavlo are quite the match. They have a history and can’t stand each other. When they have to spend time together due to being paired by their publicist on a book tour the lines between love and hate start to blur. Things are going as expected until Regan starts to get threats. As much as he would like to let her deal with this situation on her own he can’t turn his back on her, especially when there is a child involved and he may be starting to catch feelings. Being in the field of protecting also plays a huge part in Pavlo throwing himself in between Reagan and any harm that is coming her way. The suspense will make you keep turning those pages to find out what happens next. The slow burning romance will make you wonder why they weren’t a couple to begin with since the underlying attraction was clearly there. I’m not sure how many books are in this series, I’m banking on five at least since in book one it mentions Cade and four of SEAL brothers, but the next one can’t get here soon enough.

Unexpected by Laylah Abrams – Review by Robin Rankin

UnexpectedUnexpected by Laylah Abrams
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Unexpected

The title of this book couldn’t have been more perfect and I absolutely adored both Claire and Nick instantly.

Claire is nothing like the friends she’s with when we first meet her and it’s obvious to anyone who was paying attention to her and Nick was paying attention. Claire wants for nothing. Her Dad has money, she is a successful model trying to find her way.

Nick is a grad student getting a masters in art and struggling to make ends meet. Works as a waiter on top of his class load and never knew how much of a difference his job would make in his life.

Claire was a great woman but she was also quite frustrating and closed minded with her beliefs on love not matter how understandable they were.

This was a great introduction to Ms. Abrams and her writing. The storyline kept me engaged in the book and was a little sad when it was over. I look forward to see what she releases next.

Carrie's Flight (Grandma's Closet)Carrie’s Flight by Lois Wickstrom
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Carrie’s Flight (Grandma’s Closet) by Lois Wickstrom. This has quickly become my favorite children’s author and my 5 year old nephew agrees. This book is a lovely description of being so close to a grandparent and trying to keep that relationship close. This books teaches that you can keep memories alive by things that make you think of that person. When Carrie’s grandma moves across town she is very lonely without her. Carrie and her grandma used to watch the starlings together so when she sees some she calls her grandma and then she finds some wings in a box that was left by her grandmother. Can she figure out how to fly to her grandmothers? This book teaches you about lots of different birds and the bond between a child and grandparent. All of this authors books have a life lesson in them and the pictures are always amazing as well. Another 5 star read!

So after reading the second one, I Immediately wanted to read this one, I couldn’t wait. Although I think the second one is my favorite of the series so far. I super duper enjoyed this one almost just as much as that one. Mavery Ellscott is a fantastic author. Look forward to reading more! These books keep me soo intrigued I have a hard time putting them down. This was a slow-burn romance. With an intense mystery of a stalker that brings Keira and Cade together. That leads them on a dangerous adventure filled with chemistry , suspense and action. Keeps me wanting more. As I said before, bring on more books. I love them! 🥰

This was definitely an interesting read. Having grown up in an indigenous community on a reservation, I grew up hearing all about Coyote and his tricks. This was an interesting and enjoyable take on that character. Andrea wasn’t a spiritual person while alive and it seems to have carried over into the afterlife. However, through the stories she tells to Coyote she was actually a fairly spiritual person as she preserves the life of a spider (if we’re being honest a good chunk of us would either squish it or run and stay up half the night wondering whether it was in bed with us, haha) and she has a great appreciation for, or is at least is in tune with, nature. Even though it was a short book it was enjoyable to read these mini stories and learn more about what the main character was like while alive. If you want a different take on Coyote, outside of being the trickster, I suggest giving this book a try.

Lost Property (The Tom Grant Series Book 6) by Samantha Adair. I love this series so much and I can’t wait for trhe next one. Although it can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading them in order to get a better take on all the characters and what’s happening. Tom Grant has retired but when Operation “SweetPea” shows up at James’ door, Tom is asked to help. Two young girls, Annika and Melody are asking for help and Tom can’t resist. Samantha always seems to bring out the human side of Tom and makes him seem like a real person and not some machine. I love all the characters and the setting is written so well I felt like I was there. This is a buckle up and hold on to the edge of your seat read and you won’t want to put it down. I loved every word. Full of danger, adventure and the ugly side of human trafficking, this book will rip your heart out!

I have started on this book which is the second of the series, so I have to go read the first one not because I have to but because omg I truly want to( you also see some characters from the first one in her so i suggest you don’t be like me lmao and read the previous one first 😂. I loved all the suspense and plot twists that kept me on the edge, what felt like the whole time. The spicy tension between Pavlo and Regan was well written 😜 totally enjoyed it. I Cannot wait for book #3!

This was a thrilling 5 star read. I really liked these two and their story. They love to hate each other until love brings them together. This was a slow burn but it really pulled me in. We get so many twists and turns. We get danger, drama, LOL moments and so much more. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what was coming next. I love protective alpha male characters and Pavlo definitely was that. All of the characters added a great element to the story. The story was in dual POV which I love so we can see what they are both thinking. The author did a great job with her writing and I can’t wait to read her next book. 1-click and get started today.

Having not read anything from this author and being a lover of romance and romantic comedies I was pleasantly surprised by Unexpected. A young socialite and a struggling artist close to losing his scholarship are living very different lives have an instant attraction and don’t want to let each other go despite their differences. This book focuses on their struggles and obstacles that they have to overcome to be together. The characters are well written, and perfectly flawed, just like real life, and I enjoyed how the author brought them to life. I had trouble putting this down.

The BefallenThe Befallen by Cambria Williams
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am not usually one to read and enjoy fantasy novels, but wow, this one was fantastic. Cambria Williams developed an incredible cast of characters, especially Sloane and Tolvar. The story was a little slow to start, but it didn’t take long before I was completely enveloped in the story. The search for the Unsung and the trials faced by Sloane and Tolvar make this story a great one. This novel has knights, ancient lore, legends, goddesses of the various moons, and so much more. I felt like I rode an emotional roller coaster through the reading of this book, and would ride it over and over again without a question. Excellent book.

This is the second book in the Shadow Defense Security Series, and I love it even more than the first! We start out with a tense situation between Pavlo, Regan, and their publicist. It really paints the picture of how Regan and Pavlo see each other in the beginning. While they aren’t each other’s favorite person, you can feel the chemistry build through each chapter. I really enjoyed how quickly this book flew by with the twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. There is plenty of suspense, romance, drama, and action throughout the entire book. Reading the preview for this book, I was already drawn to the storyline and wanted to see how this relationship would end up. I absolutely love to read about love stories of individuals from opposite spectrums but yet find one another compelling enough to make themselves vulnerable and yearn for each other. Claire, belonging to a rich class of youngsters, comes from wealth and only acts the part as it is expected of her. She is very intelligent, well educated, and wants to break into her own stance of contributions. Nick, a struggling art graduate student, is a waiter at a restaurant where he ends up meeting Claire. Nick’s bold statements catch the attention of Claire and they start getting to know each other a bit better. They gain a deeper appreciation for one another. Not only can they really be themselves around each other but they also start to encourage their passions they both have. Love is about being vulnerable enough to show your true nature and support their own paths and passions. Such a wonderful read for everyone to experience!

Just when she thought that her next book tour would go smoothly until her publicist told her that she not only would have a guest on tour with her but also a private guest signing. Regan refused to meet for the private signing but little did she realize that by refusing it would create a domino effect throughout her private life. Pavlo, the book tour guest, is not only a fellow author but a retired Navy and owner of a security firm. Ragen didn’t want Pavlo on the book tour let alone having him catapulted into her personal life. This was a fantastic book. I was hooked from the very first chapter! This is the second book in the Shadow Defense Security series. The books in this series can be read as standalones as they focus on different couples, but the characters to appear in other books.
Pavlov and Regan’s story has elements of enemies to lovers, but Pavlov’s caring nature is revealed when Regan and her daughter are in danger. His protective nature and determination to keep the pair safe is part of what makes him so enjoyable. I like that Regan is also a strong character, she stubborn in wanting to do what’s best for her daughter and you can see her develop as a character as the story progresses.
The author has again created well-written, enjoyable characters and you can’t help but get invested in their lives, especially as their stories unfold and the chemistry grows.
The plot is well developed and had me hooked throughout. There were plenty of twists to keep me guessing, and the way these were written makes it easy to follow along as things shift.
I’m really enjoying this series and I can’t wait to get my hands on more!

Unexpected by Laylah Abrams – Review by Tara Johnson Barnes

UnexpectedUnexpected by Laylah Abrams
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Unexpected is a contemporary romance about two people who meet unexpectedly and make an unexpected connection. For all outward appearances Claire and Nick are complete opposites. She is a beautiful heiress who is used to being in the spotlight. Claire has both beauty and brains, but she keeps the educated part of her persona private and instead lets the tabloids report on who her newest love interest is. Nick is an aspiring artist currently working as a waiter in the hopes of not losing his scholarship. When Claire and her friends go out for dinner at the restaurant where Nick works him, and Claire find that they have an instant connection with one another. The two strike up a secret friendship which quickly turns into more. A heartfelt read about finding love in the most unexpected circumstances. The characters were relatable, and I loved that Claire was not just another ditzy heiress that was only concerned about her looks and how popular she was. Nick was down-to-earth, smart, funny, and the perfect match for Claire. This book had friendship, romance, love, angst, drama and a splatter of wit and humor.

Encounters With Old Coyote by Laura Koerber – Review by Ayla Phipps

Encounters with Old CoyoteEncounters with Old Coyote by Laura Koerber
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Thought provoking with some humor. Having read other works by the creative Laura Koerber I found Coyote to be more relatable personally in this work. He has evolved and now sees that change is necessary and important to continue growing. In his full supernatural form, he comes across Andrea.
Andrea’s life didn’t prepare her for an afterlife. She thought that when you die you just go into oblivion, when she finds out she has cancer and decides to go on her terms looking at the stars she gets the biggest surprise of her existence. While her mortal life has ended, she is not truly gone, now as a ghost she is confused about what happens next and what the purpose of her existence is. While unable to enjoy the delicious coffee that Coyote makes, they sit and tell stories to each other. As Coyote says humans tell stories, that’s how they understand things. Story after story Andrea picks up on different aspects of how life was and how the world has changed through history. Though she feels that for a spirit Coyote doesn’t seem to truly care about the destruction of Earth, feeling that he sees everything as another episode in a very long existence.
Will Coyote succeed in helping Andrea understand why she is a ghost? What happens next for Andrea? The world the author creates pulls you in the stories wrapping around you both the good and the bad to fully submerge you into the world she has created. The characters are both relatable and unrelatable as everyone has their own beliefs. Still the easy flow of one story into the next was perfect in shifting the narrative from story to story. The stories were also perfect to fit into my day in every little moment I had free until I realized it was over having learned many new stories. This book made me laugh, eye roll, and ponder every step of the way. I can’t wait to see where Coyote will appear next.

Dreamscape (J.J. Morris Mysteries) by J.N. Sheats – Review by Helen Dawkins

Dreamscape (J.J. Morris)Dreamscape by J.N. Sheats
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first book I have read by J.N. Sheats and I fell in love. This book is a wonderful YA paranormal suspense with the supernatural, mystery, tension/angst, complex characters, ghosts, occult, slight horror, and wonderful world building. Even though it is YA, I think that older adults would definitely love this as well.

I did not read the first book in the series, but I do not feel like it made this book any less than because of that. With that said, I will be going back to read the first book. I can see a few areas in the book where knowledge from the first book would have been beneficial. I would recommend reading the first book and then this one, but it is not 100% necessary to understand and love this book.

The main character Joey is struggling to keep up with her normal day to day life, but she is also experiencing several supernatural events happening around her. She is desperately trying to find her new “normal” in college, but after everything that has happened, she is not sure if that is possible anymore. What is stalking her in her dreams? What is a dream and what is real? Will her life ever go back to normal?

If you enjoy books with supernatural, paranormal, with some mystery then you will most definitely enjoy this book! I cannot wait to read what comes next!

This is a cute little story. I enjoyed how it made affirmations for the little boy that allowed him to have good feelings about himself. I think this would be very nice for a lot of kids who feel differently about themselves and their heritage. I hope that anyone, not just an Asian kid would be able to be inspired by this story. I recommend it to anyone who has ever had the feeling that they are different and that they don’t fit in.
