Wow, what a way to start with a new author! Without giving too much away in this quick, explosive read – the opening finds us meeting Layla and Tang as Layla returns home from a trip to settle her mothers estate. It jumps quickly into mentioning a fatal single vehicle accident at Hangman’s Bend, and thus begins the puzzle of guilt, shame, romance, suspense, tension and more.

A very exciting read and I’ll follow this author to see what worlds she builds!

Wild Lavender (Heart & Hand Series Book 1) by Nicole E. Kelleher – Review by Jaimie Salmon-Colburn

Wild Lavender (Heart & Hand, #1)Wild Lavender by Nicole E. Kelleher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I just finished this book and let me tell you that I didn’t want to put it down! Of course I had to many, many times for normal life stuff, but every free chance I got, I grabbed it to read a little more. One chapter at a time I slowly finished it. Not because it was slow going, but because I was just crazy busy this week! If I had the time I’m sure I would have finished it within a day or two. Aubrianne (aka Anna) isn’t prepared for her marriage to Lord Roger of Stolweg. The fantasy of a loving home and husband is dashed away as soon as they arrive at the Keep. He’s so cruel to everyone when he’s home and frequently gone to unknown places otherwise. He’s hiding something and she and her new found friends (the servants that keep Stolweg running) fear him and his plans. She knows that her life will be coming to an end soon, just like his first wife. Roger only had two uses for her. Breeding horses and providing him with an heir. She starts a breeding program that flourishes, but providing an heir not so much. When the stable boy is tied to a post for lashes, Anna jumps in and takes his lashes for herself, not realizing that she fuels Roger’s sadist’s desires more. He becomes increasingly ugly and sadistic to her and she has the scares to prove it. Uncovering what he is up to and killing him before he kills her are her focus. When the Royal Guard show up unannounced to look into her husband and his dealings with forbidden realms, she fears she may have missed her chance. Larkin, one of the guards there to investigate Lord Roger, realizes that he knows Anna from years before. He caught her sneaking about court and he’s never been able to forget her since. Unfortunately for her, if her husband is punished for the treason they suspect, she could very well be implicated and put to death as well. Larkin’s gut tells him more is happening at the Keep, but how can he prove it? It’s a race to figure out what Roger is up to and stop him before it’s to late. Lord Roger or the King himself will be the end of Anna if she’s not careful. This book will have you on your toes! Trust me, it is that good! I was sad for Anna, but also wished the best for her and all the Keep’s people. Well, not Roger and some of his men, but the rest of them! I can not wait to read more of this series!! If you like epic fantasies, hot romances, murder, secret passages, love and war, and of course horses you will fall in love with this book too!

If you enjoy a suspense filled novel, this is for you! The author had me on the edge of my seat from the first chapter! You follow the story of Dee and Tang. Both characters are very well developed. Tang is interesting because she is overcome with the affection she receives from Dee. Layla just did not provide the affection that Tang was looking for.

This book would be great for anyone interested in psychology. I imagine Tang would meet the DSM criteria for Reactive Attachment Disorder. The plot is also interesting to follow; very intense. I loved every second of this novel and I look forward to reading other books by this author! This novel is also LGBTQ+ friendly!

I loved this book about Brian and Amanda. Brian owns Six-Pack the hottest nightclub in town and is loving his bachelorhood. He never looks for more than one night with someone and then he spots Amanda across the bar. He approaches her and has plans for a crazy night in his mind. His plans come crashing down when he finds out who she is. She’s the hot younger sister of his best friend and immediately shuts it down. Over the years, the chemistry between the two is electric and Brian fights it as hard as possible. Amanda would love for Brian to give in to temptation but his friendship with Nick is more important. Everything seems to go smooth until Amanda needs help finding a venue to host a launch even for a lingerie line she wants to sell in her store. Brian knows he cannot work that closely with her and still remain strong so he tells her that his club is booked. Brian also holds a big secret from all his friends which he can’t keep a secret for much longer.
Will Brian and Amanda be able to be just friends for will Brian ruin his relationship
With his best friend just for a chance with his little sister and then break her heart. Loved the book, grab some tissues as you will need them.

Cruel Truths (Tessa and Jordan #3)Cruel Truths by T. Christensen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a interesting story. The chemistry between Cade and Lindy is what got my attention. It was pretty sparky there right from the beginning. The challenge was that because he was her boss, this was a forbidden thing. I enjoyed watching the romance take off and build. As far as characters, I thought they were well-developed. The story had a good flow.

This is an amazingly dark psychological thriller with a little romantic suspense. I found myself on the edge of my seat as the book went along. This author writes in a way that truly builds the tension as it goes. The characters are just hiding secrets alll over the place and the web of lies is going out wider. One crash unravels so much deceit. Nothing really is as it seemed. This is a book that you really must check out.

Angsty werewolf romance
I love a good werewolf story and this did not disappoint. Wolfbane is the first book in the Wolfbane series and it is a strong start. With good characterisation, world building and lots of emotion I found myself reading late into the night. The author gives a different spin on fated mates and the mate bond which I found interesting. I really liked the different POVs throughout as it gives so much more depth to the story. I eagerly await book 2. Highly recommend!

Contemporary Enemies to Lovers
This is the 3rd book in the Tessa and Jordan series and is Lindy and Cade’s story. It can be read as a stand-alone.
Lindy is Tessa’s younger ‘sister’ and is an aspiring fashion designer. She is a very strong character and doesn’t hold back. Cade is all alpha male and has a jaded view of relationships and women. When their worlds collide it is a battle of wills and led to some fiery scenes. This story had a bit of everything – enemies to lovers, fake girlfriend, second chances, alpha male, billionaire romance. Recommend.

Cruel Love (Hidden Valley Elite Book 6) by Isla Vaughn – Review by Christie Mitchum

Cruel Love (Hidden Valley Elite #6)Cruel Love by Isla Vaughn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What a fantastic conclusion to Phoenix and Aspen’s Duet! This book is my favorite so far in the series!

The book picked up right where the previous one left me hanging, and what a cliffhanger that was!!!! Oh my gosh…talk about a nailbiter! Phoenix is in the hospital and his memories of the last few years are gone which include his memory of who Aspen is and all of the struggles they have had to endure. However, he knows she has played an important part in his life, and he feels the same pull towards her as he did before the accident. There was a lot going on in this book, and I loved every minute of it!

Cruel Love was such an appropriate title for this particular book as Cruel Hate was a perfect title for the previous one. In that one, despite the chemistry and pull of Aspen and Phoenix, a lot of their emotions for one another could be construed as hate. There was so much back and forth and push and pull between them. If I didn’t know how they truly felt about each other, I would have thought they had no promise of a future together. However, Vaughn turned all of that negativity and anger on its head in this book. The accident has made Phoenix kinder, more patient, and less self-centered. Those protective walls he has erected aren’t there which in turn causes Aspen to be more vulnerable and trusting with him. This was a much sweeter read, and I enjoyed watching the two of them get to know one another and really fall for each other.

As they discover their love for each other, several background stories develop and connect as well. The mystery of Phoenix’s grandfather’s actions which involve Shane, Phoenix’s twin, is coming to light and more about their mother and father’s pasts is being discovered as well. It’s the perfect combination of romance and mystery.

Isla Vaughn is an expert in taking her readers on a rollercoaster of emotions. My heart has been broken and put back together, and she has made me so angry that I wanted to throw my Kindle across the room and throttle some of the characters. Yet, that is what a great writer does, she or he tugs at your emotions, and Vaughn is incredibly talented at doing that. It is what keeps me coming back for more. She has really set us up for what promises to be a great set of books next. It’s finally Shane’s turn to tell us his story, and if the cliffhanger we are left with at the end of this book is any indication, it’s going to be one heck of a ride!!

This book sucked me in on page one, it is that good! It tackles such a delicate subject from a male’s perspective which was both surprising and made me realize that most books only protray female sexual assault victims not male. I would recommend a trigger warning for anyone who has experienced a traumatic sexual event. Very powerful and realistic journey that people face daily all around us. This is the second book I have read from this amazing author and I have got to say that I am extremely impressed and can not wait to see what else yhe future holds. I recommend this read.

To call our leading man Cade, a grumpy boss book would be an understatement! My god he is a total jerk right at the start and that makes you want to keep reading! LOL Well it hooked me for sure. I just had to know how our leading lady Lindy, was going to handle the jerk lol Their interactions were fantastic coupled with plenty of wit, banter…I think those are the words I’m looking for to describe it…and off the charts chemistry made this a must read for me. I can’t wait to devour more by this truly creative and talented author.

4.5 stars
No Amends is a tangled web of suspense, forbidden love, deception, secrets and lies. It is Angela’s debut suspense story, and it packs a punch. The tension ramps up in this story with anxiety, fear, expectation, with lots of turn abouts and so much more.
This F/F, Romantic Suspense page-turning dark psychological thriller gives us a look into a dark and slightly twisted mind. The extent to which some individuals are willing to go for love. The more disturbing aspects of human nature. What lurks deep in the recesses of one’s mind?
Angela’s unique writing style is compelling and the page turning plot driven story is action-packed with plenty of plot twists. So much so that it will leave readers wanting more.
Tang Young has a deadly secret one that consumes her. One she hides within herself. One that will change her life forever. One night of tragedy.
Grab a copy to see what it is all about.
I am excited to see what Angela brings next.

Wondogfilled: Look, a Dog! By Dr. Kimberlie Harris is a children’s story for those between the ages of 0 – 8 years old. It is a story for those that are lovers of dogs just like Kingston in the story. Kingston is a delightful character, and his love of animals was a pleasure to encounter.
This fun and beautifully illustrated story will have you smiling and at times laughing. It is a tale that encourages the imagination and helps with learning new words and different things. Dr Kimberlie has created a new world that helps shape young minds as helped by the bright and colourful pictures.
Wondogfilled: Look, a Dog! Is a great book to share with others, to give as a present, keep within your home or within a school or library environment. No matter which it will be enjoyed by young and old alike.

Cruel Truths is the third book in the Tessa and Jordan Series and is a Enemies to Lover’s Romance/Contemporary Romance that once you start reading its hard to put down until you’ve finished. The chemistry between Lindy and Cade is undeniable and the bantering back and forth between them keeps you turning the pages. Lindy is an aspiring fashion designer who comes across a job listing for a personal assistant for a big time company that could help her open up her future in fashion. Cade comes across as a giant a-hole. He knows what buttons to push but Lindy really needs this job so fake it till you make, because her family is depending on her. These two are no doubt my favorite characters and this story fun and engaging with a side of entertaining. I don’t want to give to much away. Cruel Truths is the third book in the Tessa and Jordan series by T. Christensen. Even though this is the 3rd instalment in the series, it can be read and enjoyed as a standalone. It is probably my favourite of Ms. Christensen’s books, so far- because who doesn’t love a great enemies to lovers office romance? This one had that in spades… Throw in a grumpy-alphahole boss, forced proximity, chemistry, angst, push-pull, drama, and emotion- and this story was hard to put down.
Lindy is determined to do whatever it takes to follow her dreams, even if it means putting up with an alphahole boss. Things get complicated along the way when forced to work closely together. Will things get hot enough to ignite their simmering chemistry? Or will his alphahole ways push her away? Well worth the read to find out.
Looking forward to seeing what Ms. Christensen has in store for us next.
Happy Reading…

Thank you, T. Christensen!
