All the feels This YA/NA contemporary romance is slow at the start, but takes off about a quarter of the way in. The emotions are raw and the issues all to real. The MC has had a hard life which comes to light throughout the story but she endures. With angst, heartache, suspicions, hard held secrets and betrayal there is so much between the pages and it is not all smooth sailing. A worthy read.

5 Stars Love, Only Better (Bold Journeys Book 1) by Paulette Stout
Love , Only Better is the first book in the Bold Journeys Series and is a wonderfully Women’s Fiction that I absolutely loved reading. This is a book every woman should read even if they haven’t experienced what our main character has. It’s a story about discovery yourself and your sexuality, your wants, your needs . Rebecca has been through it all she’s lost another boyfriend and she doesn’t like sex. She decides to go after what she wants and seeks out a Dr who tells her she’s fine. Not happy with that she sets out to get the one thing she is lacking and that’s intimacy and reaching the big “O” . This is a fast paced story that had me turning the pages. This may be one of those subjects no one likes to talk about but this author did an amazing job. This is my first book by her but definitely not my last. I highly recommend reading this book and I look forward to reading more from this Author.

This was one of my favorite books in the Code of Honor series so far! I love that leading lady Angelica is a math teacher, and that Chase is the military man who was her crush back in high school. He’s the type of man who doesn’t do commitment and she’s the type who keeps her heart locked away nice and tight. What a great twist to the series, in the fact that the leading lady is the one who gets to decide if love will be allowed to enter her world or if she’s going to keep it at arm’s reach. This book was such a great continuation to this series, honestly, you could read any of these books as standalone but it’s way better to read them in order as a series because the people you meet do make an appearance again in this book. The storyline was so terrific, and the characters once again are so realistic that you are drawn in and committed to seeing their actions take flight as there are always consequences to the decisions you make, whether good or bad. I hope to see more books in this series because Brooke May does such an amazing job incorporating military men with great leading ladies, who all follow a code of honor for love. @Brandy Rymer 08/2023

I love that this book gets you hooked right from the beginning and does not disappoint straight to the end. It’s a quick read, that’ll hold your attention the entire way through. Brooke May did an amazing job with the characters, creating scenarios that fit right in with today’s times, and ways of life. I was rooting for Jody to find her freedom from her sister’s shadow and to be able to follow her own dreams. This book was such a thrill ride of romance, that I just could not put it down. I love the descriptions that create such an amazing effect on the storyline, I felt like I could reach out and touch everything, I literally was living the wild ride that was going on around me. I was so intrigued by this book, right from the start. I was rooting for Patience and Duke to fall in love and have their happily ever after right from the second Patience admitted she was in love with Duke while intoxicated at their graduation party. Best friends to partners always make the best love stories ever! As I continued reading, I felt so sorry for all of the trials that Patience went through in her life, it was so realistic. I was so scared that Duke would never return home and that their friendship would be over forever, doomed from the beginning of their adulthoods. What a fantastic story of courage and withstanding everything life throws at you. I was so inspired by the characters and all they did to stand up for themselves and their beliefs. I absolutely love just about everything Gwyn McNamee writes and this is no exception!
This is the second book in the “The Hawke Family Second Generation” series. While it can be read as standalone, I do highly suggest not only reading the Book 1 in the Second-Generation, but also reading all of the books in the First-Generation Hawke Family. There is a ton of useful information in all of the books that make the reading experience that much better and easier to make deeper connections.
This is book includes tropes such as forbidden romance, billionaires, reverse age gap (The woman is older), Best friends’ older sister. There is a good bit of angsty, spicy romance scenes that are AMAZING! One of the main points, the author, Gwyn, is trying to get across is that blood doesn’t necessarily make you family, your heart and the love you share makes you family.
The forbidden romance is between Jude, who technically is not a Hawke, but has been best friends with Alessi since they were 10, and Alessi’s older sister Angelina (Angie). Alessi and Angelina are the children of Storm Hawke.
Jude has only ever had one obsession, one woman who stands taller than all of the rest, and it is the one person who he cannot have. He is teetering hard on whether or not he should keep ignoring his feelings for Angie, or if it is time to come clean and hopefully have a shot at his happily ever after — his family PLUS the girl.
Angie pretty much despises relationships, and always has due to losing her father at such a young age. But she cannot deny the insane pull she has to Jude – who is also forbidden, he is technically family after all.
In the midst of Angie’s sibling Alessi going missing, lying about small things, avoiding family members. Her and Jude now have to work side by side to figure out what the heck is going on. Now that they are together regularly, that pull, and connection only grows stronger. They both have had so many obstacles and more heartache than a person should deal with, but neither allow themselves to open up which causes them to be misunderstood quite a bit.
Prepare to be captivated by this series, as Gwyn never fails to deliver a compelling storyline filled with romance, danger, family, love, and angst. But what truly sets this series apart is the emotional rollercoaster it takes you on as a reader. Each book allows you to intimately know the characters, every word resonating with you long after you’ve finished reading.

A Forever Kind of Thing by Carrie Thomas and Melinda Harris is a YA romance woven with plenty of teen drama, angst, and emotion. Not having read any of these two authors work before, I wasn’t sure of what to expect from one of their stories, but I do enjoy YA books, and the cover piqued my curiosity enough to want to find out, plus I really needed a ‘break’ from the heavier reads I have been devouring of late, so I took a chance and set off to explore. The story is kind of sweet, with teen issues that we can all relate to that added drama and angst to the story. Mina and Wes are great characters who were lovingly crafted by the authors into fully realised individuals with their own unique personalities, quirks, and flaws. They were realistic and believable. I just wish I had been able to connect with them enough to really invest in their story. I did like the story but didn’t love it as much as I was hoping to. But that might be a ‘me’ thing, as I have been reading a lot of heavier/darker stories of late- so I have decided to revisit this book again soon to see if perhaps I was just having an ‘off’ reading day with this book the first time around. But, if you love angsty teen stories with heartache, opposites attract, second chances, and plenty of emotion- then you will probably want to add this to you TBR. Happy Reading…

Sing For Me is the second book in the Balefire series by Tam DeRudder Jackson. It is a New Adult contemporary rockstar romance with ‘the girl-next-door’ element, tension, chemistry, sparks, emotion, secrets, drama, angst, and hot spicy details. I know that I have come into this series a little backwards, reading in descending order, but luckily these books can be read as standalones without feeling lost in the storyline, as each book in the series focuses on a different member of the Balefire rock band. This is Blu Connolly’s turn, and he’s the sexy lead singer of the band. Ashleigh is his new next-door neighbour who captivates Blu more than he was prepared for. But, sometimes love comes unexpectedly- as these two discover. Definitely my favourite of the series, so far. Happy Reading…

It is such a good book and very well written even though it’s about high schoolers. I didn’t feel too old to be reading it. Definitely recommend.

Priscilla took a chance and tried to start something romantic with Riordan but he rejected her due to fearing repercussions from her father. It’s been 17 years since they’ve seen each other but the sparks are still there and it seems like no time has passed at all. Although this is the third book of a series it is the first one that I have read. There was great character development and the author did a great job if keeping me engaged. I enjoyed reading about Donna and Antoine. The book has a good pace to it and didn’t drag anything out. At first I was a little leery of the book since Donna was contemplating just ending everything and then Antoine had come and saved her. Once I read further into the book, I was glad that I kept reading. The character development was fantastic. Seeing go from the lowest point to being confident in herself again made me cheer out for joy for her. Gustav as the villain was really good. I was surprised I found myself liking him just a little. Very well done and well written! I lost many hours reading this book!
Well I’m a sap. And this is a sad but sappy and happy story. Regaining Integrity can give even the slightest empath, the feels. The author sucks you in, though I’m not surprised having read her books in the past. This book is no different. She’s one of my favorites for a reason. Every single book I’ve read by her makes me feel like I’m the main character. I feel the happiness, sadness, the hurt and pain. I can relate to the characters because they are so raw and real. Angelica and Chase have been given a chance. Her chance to forgive. And him to right his wrongs, that is if he can figure out how he wronged her. Coming off feisty Chase doesn’t understand why she is this way with him. It’s new and unfamiliar territory, but he knows he still wants more of her and it won’t stop it. A second chance romance that makes one happy. And though this is the 4th book in the series, it’s a standalone just the same. If you’re new to this author I encourage you to read it all, you won’t be disappointed. If you’re a fan as I am, enjoy.

I don’t know how this series keeps getting better and better, but it does! This is the continuation story of Issac Hawke and Jack, whom we met in the prequel, “Night Hawke.” Several years after their first steamy encounter, Jack shows back up in Isaac’s life and boy does she have a surprise for him.
I’m a sucker for a great secret baby book and this one definitely doesn’t disappoint as Gwyn McNamee has filled it full of twists and turns that will keep you glued to the page. These characters are well written and have the chemistry to set a volcano ablaze! I really love this story and this series.

I really enjoyed this book. I love the author’s details of the characters and their surroundings. I could envision being on the campus of Ridgefield Academy. I liked the characters, especially Mina and Wes. I love how they had a back-story then came together again when they were older. The romance was steamy without being graphic. I was excited for the ending of the book and it did not disappoint me. I recommend this read for older teens, young adults, and anyone else who loves a good romance.

Rebecca is on a mission to find her orgasm. This book does a great job at focusing on the how, when and why she does the things she does to discover if she is able to reach the pinnacle of climax. Finding a hot neighbor in the process is just adding another layer to it. This book was not only entertaining it was also educational. Well written and enjoyable.

I want to know how I get to be a part of the Hawke family! Gwyn McNamee has written another great installment in The Hawke Family Second Generation and let me tell you these books are all so colorful and well written that I am most definitely hooked on this series and this family.
In this book we see the love story of Jude and Angie unfold. The romance was wonderful to read, but I also enjoyed seeing the friendship between Jude and Allie and how much she and the whole Hawke family meant to him. I was amazed at Jude’s story while reading this to see what all he has grown through and endured, while still becoming a great man. This book is also just another great reminder that family doesn’t have to be blood! I can’t wait for the next book to come out as I’ve read all the original Hawke series and now all this series that’s available. If you like a tight-knit family that looks out for one another mixed in with some romance and steam, then you definitely want to check out these series.

Follow Detective Scala on another adventure. I have read one other book in this series and this one was just as good as that one. As far as I can tell they do not to be read in any particular order but I like to read a series in order. This book was engaging and kept my attention trying to solve the mystery. Good morning. What a way to start a book, Hehe. I am in love with this series having read the prequel and book one I had been counting down the days until this book finally came out and I had a chance to read it. Jude and Angelina were mentioned in the previous books but not in depth. Finally, we get to see inside Jude’s world and discover why he is so recluse and the heartbreak of his first ten years of life before the Hawkes rescued him. Jude had been a Hawke for twelve years, and from the very beginning Angelina had stolen his heart. After a life of nothing but pain and fear he had finally found someone that made him feel safe, accepted, and cared for. Angelina is the eldest Hawke second generation, her coffee shop is thriving, but the problems start stacking up quickly in her world. Allie, Jude’s best friend and Angelina’s younger sister, is suddenly more unreliable than ever. Always late, missing and not showing up where she should be when she should be. Fear and worry force Jude to text Angelina and be in the same room with her for the first time in two years. She is the literal dream girl that chases away his nightmares and yet that is all she can ever be, in his dreams. Everything about him captured Angelina’s attention and like Jude it has only grown with the years. Cassius of course once again rears his handsome evil face when Falco Enterprises purchases the space the Hawkes have wanted for years. To make matters worse, they plan to open a coffee shop, just down the street from Angelina’s, Hawkes Daily Grind. Taking place roughly four months after book one, the previous idea of an art gallery/studio comes up by Isaac. What if they have a grand opening the same day or shortly before to steal the attention away from the Falco coffee shop. Only problem, the space is across from Angelina’s and is Jude’s space for his dream of owning a bookshop only it has been three years since the lot was purchased and still nothing has been opened or even shows signs of something to come. Will Jude ever get the courage to finally tell Angelina how he feels about her? Why has Allie been disappearing? Can Jude overcome his fears and finally live the life he wants to have? Once again, the talented Gwyn McNamee has captured my heart from page one leaving me on the edge of my seat as I rush to the end to find out how it all ends. The ever-evolving world she has created, how it continues to grow revealing more information and secrets along the way. The depth of the characters and how deep their pain and trauma go. Her ability to show the vulnerability of each character and them overcoming their trauma to find the life they crave and deserve leaves you with the feel good when you reach the last page. Can’t wait for book three to see what the Hawkes will face and overcome next in Relentless Hawke, October 26th, 2023. Who captured Cassius Whitakers cold black heart?

Loooooove this book! And I’m obsessed with Isaac! He protects the people he loves and he doesn’t second guess about anything. He’s also such a tease 😈 but it’s so so spicy! 🌶 Someone very important to him left him 5 years ago but now she’s back. And with a surprise! He definitely wasn’t expecting that. Book is full of angst but I’m here for it! There’s drama and action and spice and romance and I couldn’t get enough of it. The entire story was simply AMAZING and I couldn’t stop reading..I just HAD to know what happens next. I love the Hawke family and I know you will too! Please read this!

I knew I was going to like this book because I LOVED Ruthless Hawke. And I’m only 21% into this book and it’s already fantastic. The suspense and the mystery, it keeps you on your toes. You never know what to expect and that’s what I love in a book! It keeps me flipping the pages without taking a break because I NEED to know what happens. Jude has been through A LOT growing up but the Hawke family welcomes him with open arms. He’s real closed off and on edge but Ang and Allie are there for him, as always. I love the Hawke family because even when there’s people who don’t share the same blood, they still treat them like they do ♥️ they always have each others backs and are there for one another! And the chemistry between Jude & Angelina? STEAMY. I love them so much together! I can’t wait for the next book! There’s so many answers that I need lol.

How would you feel if you finally met someone to trust and to be your friend, who took up for you against all the bullies that picked on you for your clothes and lifestyle, only for them to disappear a couple of years later? This is what our main character, Mina, experiences when Wes, her best friend and protector, stops showing up to school. Years pass and a lot changes for both Mina and Wes. Mina finally feels like she has her life on track when, guess who shows up at her prestigious school?
Wesley and Mina both face a lot of ups and downs as they go through life and try to reconnect. I love the heartfelt connection between these two wonderfully written characters! They both grow tremendously as they experience both highs and lows, while always having each other’s backs. This is a wonderful YA tale that I’m so glad I picked up and I can’t wait to read more by these authors as they have an easy-flowing writing style that pulls me right into the story and the lives of the characters.

Reticent Hawke by Gwyn McNamee was a perfect addition to the Hawke family. I have loved all the characters in this series and especially love that there is now second generation stories. Being able to touch base with those from the first set of books is one of my favorite things. This family is so close and tight knit that to some, Jude and Angelina did a poor job of hiding their true feelings even if they themselves are ignoring them. As always with her books, the author drags you in with truly gut wrenching details that make you feel as if you’re part of the family. When they hurt, you hurt, when they are happy, you celebrate. I absolutely fell for Jude and his charm. And Angelina’s strength and perseverance and devotion to her work and her family is admirable. This is clearly a series I would read in order starting with generation 1 as ALL of the characters make appearances and it’s rather important if you want to keep up because there’s a lot of people and a lot of things that resurface. But overall another amazing read!

This is book 2 in The Olympic Peninsula series. I do say you should read the first book. This is Liam and Teresa’s story, and it is wonderfully written. I am a big fan as I actually live in Port Townsend where a lot of the book takes place, so it makes it more magical for me. The characters are done so well, I love the family dynamics, also slight mystery.

I have never read a book like this! I’ve never encountered a FMC like this! As someone who has had a similar struggle, although for a different reason than Rebecca, this is a whole different kind of representation I never expected or knew I needed. Reading Love, Only Better, was validating in the most surprising way! I felt like Rebecca & Kyle were a bit immature, but that isn’t a bad thing in itself & lays great foundation for character development in the next book. I do truly hope they end up happy together! An awakening story by a trailblazing author!

Ms. May has definitely become one of the authors that I click on before reading the synopsis. I always seem to fall in love with her main characters even when they start off as giant jerks like Chase did. I always hope they will find a way to redeem themselves.
Chase and Angelica knew each other in high school, but Chase was a party boy who only thought of himself and didn’t care who he hurt. Thankfully serving in the military got him to grow up, at least a little bit.
Angelica was the smart quiet girl who kept to herself but seemed to a favorite target of one of the girls to bully and she was relentless in her harassment. But Angelica got the last laugh with her.
I really enjoyed this book and series. It gives us a glimpse of the past story to go with the modern one.
