When Magic Calls by Caitlin Berve- 4 out of 5 stars
Interesting take on Fairy Tales. The author gives these tales a magical twist intermixed with some darkness. I love how you can pick this book up, read one short story, and put it back down without feeling like you are left on a cliff. Each story is uniquely written and enjoyable, even for adult readers. This authors idea of a Fairy Tale museum is definitely unique. I recommend this book if you like quick reads.

Complicated Choices by Risa Nyman- 5 out of 5 stars
This complex read will have you in your emotions the whole time. Claire’s mother puts her in an extremely difficult position, being her baby brother’s full time caretaker. Although she resents her mother, her fierce love for her baby brother is unrelenting and she does everything she can to provide for him. This book definitely puts poor Claire through the ringer. As a mother, I was heartbroken and wanted to help her. As a reader, I was all over the place emotionally and I could not put it down. Overall, this was an amazing YA book. I highly recommend!

This is a beautiful children’s book! The illustrations are my favorite part of the book – the colorful starfish and the cool crabs that show up on every page. A counting book with information on starfish at the end – one you can read with your child, count the starfish and learn about them all at the same time. If I still had littles, I would have this one on my shelf.

This is a story all about Jack and how he outsmarts the giant in the sky. It is a very interesting take on Jack and the Beanstalk. The illustrations are cute. I enjoyed how Jack turned on the giant – by tricking him, using his problem solving abilities to get himself out of a sticky situation. Cute story to read a loud ot your littles – would prompt good discussion in a classroom about right vrs. wrong.

The Magic Carousel is the first book in The Brass Ring Series by K.L. Small. It is a wonderful children’s chapter book- a fun fantasy adventure with action, carousel, horses, a brass ring, magic, time travel, history, challenges, imagination, drama, and learning. The story is quite captivating with lovely illustrations sprinkled throughout, which really help to bring the story to life. I liked the notes provided for each chapter which was provided at the end of the book as they added extra insight and information that enhanced my appreciation of the adventure. There is also a helpful glossary of words at the end of the book. Another fun read from this talented author. A story for the young- and the young at heart. Love, Only Better is the first book in the Bold Journeys series by Paulette Stout. This is the first book that I have read by this author, so I really didn’t know what to expect from one of her stories. But the cover drew my attention and the blurb sounded interesting- so I took a chance and set off to explore the book. It is a women’s fiction story- but focuses on a subject matter that is only too real. The story hopes to highlight this ‘secret’ issue in the hopes of helping other women who have the same struggles. The subject of intimacy, sexuality, gratification, and pleasure aren’t always easy topics of conversation- especially if you struggle to reach fulfilment. This can lead to secrets, angst, anxiety, feeling ‘defective’, confidence issues, and self-worth issues that puts even more pressure on the woman, and their (intimate) relationship/s. The story takes us on Rebecca’s journey as she grapples with these issues. This is an honest and insightful account of Rebecca’s experiences and her quest to find a ‘solution’ to her problem- and is a bit of a journey of self-discovery. I found the story interesting, and I really felt for Rebecca and what she was going through. I really tried to connect with her and become invested in her story, but never quite got there. I felt that the story got too ‘bogged down’ and a bit lost in all the details and descriptions- some areas are way too detailed and very ‘blow-by-blow’ – while other areas lack the detail I would have liked to see. This is also a ‘romance’ story- but I felt their ‘connection’ was kind of washed over a bit. But, maybe we will get ‘more’ of that in the second book- ‘What We Never Say’, so I will have to wait and see what happens there- so stay tuned. Happy Reading…

Wowzers! So this is the fourth book in this series, BUT this one can be read as a standalone book! I wouldn’t recommend it, just because I’m a LOVER of a good series and like to read them all LOL I do believe Kimber & Fabian’s story is my fave! ❤️ I was most certainly captivated from the beginning when I started this story! And it was such an amazing one at that!! Love this author and her work and the world she created from Book one to Book four! In this book the amazing Emma is Sleuthing with Jeremy in Paris! Oh la la!!! There is great adventure and plenty of twists and turns along the way that will keep you turning page after page. Sage Advice is a wonderfully written YA/ Clean Romance that will have you turning the pages till the end. This author never ceases to amaze me with her creative yet relatable and fully developed characters along with a storyline that flows. This story teaches us a very important message that it’s ok to not know everything and you don’t need to have all the answers. There’s the right amount of humor mixed with a few emotional moments but I couldn’t stop till I finished. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next with Sage. Will she learn it’s ok to not know all the answers I look forward to reading more from this Author.

Completion. I flew through the previous two books and this one was no different. The need to learn more about Tasha and Levi and know what happens next left me little room to breathe as I devoured this final book of their epic story. Unlike the previous two books this one started with a prologue on how the different species came to exist. As well as how the fear of the Olympians forced them into chaos and war. Quickly it is apparent as to how Tasha and Levi were able to love each other so completely without understanding why but not fighting against it and embracing it. Picking up where the previous book left off the hellspawn have learned when the Lycans are at their weakest and they are in turn at the strongest, during the new moon. Only now the miracle that is Persephone has unseen power that allows her to keep those she loves safe despite her age and size. As the truth of how all species came into existence is brought to light the alliance that was destroyed centuries ago reforms. Tasha and Levi played the central part in proving that their species coexistence is possible and that the lies they were told were to keep them apart. To keep them from becoming more powerful than their creators. Magic is back and reclaiming their place in the war against the hellspawn that wants to burn all whilst claiming the Earth for themselves. Once again, more secrets erode as the truth is revealed. Can Tasha and Levi find their way back to each other in the darkest nights ahead? More secrets revealed but what does the mean for those affected? What will happen to the alliance when their story is complete? Once more the author finds ways to make the world more complete and more complex as we learn more about how the species were created, and how the war truly began. Seeing the characters morph into so much more than the youth of book one has been one of my favorite parts, as they became not only confident in themselves but in each other. Bittersweet, as much as I love reading Tasha and Levi’s story, I am excited to see how the world expands and changes with Kimber’s story in book four, Forbidden Blood, and how it will continue in the war against the hellspawns.

Revelations. Okay book two takes everything and bumps it up several notches. This book begins a few months after the events at the end of the first book. Once again CR Robertson pulls you in and after a slightly slow start you can hardly get a breath. In the few months since the confrontation with the hellspawns Tasha and Levi have found a sense of normalcy in their crazy world. Levi holding true to finding a way for them to be together publicly and not having to be apart for another ten years while finishing their conscriptions. While at the end of book one Tasha could still feel the dull hum of the creatures killing the vampires and Lycans she could hear them at times. Knowing they must be regrouping the vampires and Lycans made agreements of sorts that ends the war between them to combine to beat the common enemy before them. In the first book it is also revealed that due to the moon goddess making Tasha and Levi fated mates, she was changed to a deeper level allowing her to walk in the sun. Only she and Levi know this and go to great lengths at times to keep it that way. The chaos of war tomorrow is promised to know one. Grasping every moment with Levi, Tasha fears a world without him. Learning more about the secrets of her coven Tasha begins to learn how much of her life was based on lies and half-truths of those that held power. How far will Castus go to claim what was never his? Can the Vampires and Lycans succeed at defeating the hellspawns? Once again, the world the author creates is one of total intrigue that pulls you into the world beside the characters. The characters continue to develop and grow as they experience more than what seems possible to overcome but they survive by sticking together through it all. While reading the first book the love story seemed to be at the center and to a degree it is, but the fact is that it is the war that is the focus that has encompassed both species for so long that the purpose of the war is long forgotten. Tasha and Levi’s story is the light in the war that makes everything worth overcoming the evil lurking in the muck. I cannot wait to begin book three, Forbidden Moon, to see how Tasha and Levi’s story continues and what they will overcome.

Regaining Integrity is the fourth book in the Code of Honor series by Brooke May. I can rely on Ms. May to deliver a captivating story that never fails to pull me in and immerse me in the lives of her characters as everything unfolds- crafting ‘real’ and relatable characters that I can’t help but become completely invested in and have me rooting for them right from the outset. But that’s not to say there weren’t some frustrating moments where I wanted to shake them, well especially Chase, and tell them to get their (his) act together 😊 But they really were perfect for each other- even if they didn’t fully realise it to begin with. I also loved catching up with some other familiar faces we’ve met previously- that added an extra element of fun for me, too. This proved to be another sublime contemporary military romance, with a little drama, chemistry, steam, and plenty of emotion. Definitely worth the read! Happy Reading!

Well that was a wild ride. The Finding was a suspenseful story of love, survival, perseverance, anger and so many other emotions. The author keeps you turning the page. The anguish Logan feels throughout this book can be felt. You want him to find his love. You want happily ever after. You feel how broken he is and you want him to heal. Starting in the past and ending in the present, this book is Logan and Victoria’s story. A story of love & hope, quickly turning to fear & anguish. Victoria has disappeared and nobody believes it besides those closest to her. Victoria is a fighter. She has to be for everything she has been through. What keeps her going is her love for Logan. Will she be found? Will the authorities finally start to believe Logan, about her not leaving of her own accord? That and so many more questions come about, especially when reading the chapters about the past. The author seems to have started a new series, and it’s a series that looks to have a promising future. Based purely on the start.

The Anchor Knot: Securing the Knot is the third book in the Knot series by DonnaLee Overly. This is the first book that I have read by Ms. Overly, so I really wasn’t sure of what to expect from one of her stories, but the blurb promised something a little different from what I have been reading of late, so I took a chance and grabbed a copy to explore. It is a contemporary woman’s fiction story with drama, secrets, romance, agendas, family, meddling, responsibility, ambition, pressure, challenges, doubts, choices, emotion, following your heart, and more. This book had all the ingredients that I normally love to find in a story- but I just couldn’t connect with the characters and get invested in their story. It was slow to get going and I found it hard not to get distracted by other things as the story wasn’t holding my attention like I had hoped it would. I have been reading a lot of thrillers and darker stories of late, so I wonder if that has affected how I feel about this book. So, having said that, I have decided to revisit this book again soon for a reread to see if I still feel the same way, or if perhaps find that I was just having an ‘off’ reading day. Smooth Hoperator: A Fake-Relationship Romance (Love on Tap Book 2)
These Brooks brothers can’t be more different from one another. They each have their endearing qualities and Carter’s superpower is being a broody and quiet guy with an amazing awareness of right and wrong.
Sunny is the eternal optimist who refuses to see the bad in anyone and also will do anything to help people out to her detriment. She gets taken advantage of though I don’t think she felt that way because she loves to help any and every one.
There is such an interesting cast of characters in this book. Duke the paranoid old man, Sebastian the granola hippy next door and Mia the best friend just to name a few.
There are so many laughs throughout the book and a happy ending. Definitely what I have come to expect from Ms. Stewart. I’m really looking forward to the most entertaining Brooks brother, Miller. I have a feeling I won’t be able to put it down.
I loved this book and love the series. Ms. Stewart has a way to suck you in to the story in the best way.

Love Bites More is a fantasy romance that is set in the same world as the Darkness and Light Duology. It is a standalone story, but will be enjoyable to fans of the other books as it further develops familiar characters.
The story picks up with Elan and Arwyn, two elinfae who are frustrated as their attraction to each other contradicts their longstanding agreement not to jeopardise their friendship by getting romantically or sexually involved with each other. Newcomer Hassan provides a welcome distraction to both, but also complicates things!
As the story gets going, there is plenty of magic and action in addition to the romance. It’s very entertaining! The world is well established from the earlier books, but it’s easy to pick up what you need to know if you’re starting here. There’s even a summary at the start of the book to fill in any gaps.
This gets four stars from me. I’d recommend it to fans of queer and polyamorous romance, particularly if you’ve enjoyed the rest of the series!

Hole in the Rock is a fast paced adventure book for children aged 8-12 but I thoroughly enjoyed the book . I think it has a message for adults as well. The story is centered around 12 year old Lizzy , an animal lover, whose ideals do not exactly match with her parents. She has her own share of adventures with her friends and does not like her father’s job. Things take a drastic turn when her father decides to move their home into a cave. Lizzy makes few choices and they do not always turn out right. Her parents set few expectations and that does not always turn out right. The story is mainly about both Lizzy and her parents understanding that actions lead to consequences, which might cost us dearly, not everyone agrees to our actions and we all make mistakes. There is a huge lesson to be learnt from this book for everyone and I highly recommend it.

This is the 9th book in The Playmakers Series Hockey Romance. I jumped from the first book to the 9th but I expect I will be reading the books in between very soon. Wyatt Tompkins was the goalie for the Colorado Blizzards, but recently became a free agent which isn’t where he wants to be. Serena is the PR director for the Blizzards and isn’t a fan of Wyatt at all. That is until Serena is attacked and Wyatt comes to her rescue. What will this mean for their future? Another great book by the author. Wonderful characters and world building. Thank you for writing about Wyatt, I wasn’t sure about his character in the beginning but he turned things around!

This is my first book from this author…and the story was very engaging giving me lots of different feelings that I am still thinking about…clean romance, intrigue, political innuendos, grief, secrets and lies. I am definitely looking forward to reading more and also circling back in this series. This story could be easily read as a standalone…but I would love to start at the beginning to see what this series has to offer.

This is a really good woman’s fiction story and it really can empower as woman should be allow to have a voice….this is a really good story.

This is the first book in The Playmakers Series Hockey Romance. The author is new to me and I really enjoyed reading the book. Beckett and Paige met while they were in college. Beckett graduated and moved right into being a NHL hockey player. Soon he began making bad decisions. As the years go by, he’s finding that life isn’t turning out the way he expected. After graduating from college, Paige has started up her own company working on flipping houses. When Beckett and Paige meet unexpectedly, he doesn’t exactly remember her. That’s just fine with Paige but soon things seem to change. The author did a wonderful job world building and character development.

Master Campania is the seventh tantalising book in this dark vampire romance series the Masters of the Consulate. This is one of my all-time favourite series and author. I am not sure how, but this series gets better with each book. Sexy vampires, yes please. I feel like I keep repeating myself when writing a review for Sylvia but everything I have ever said about her books is true from one to the other. Masters of the Consulate is a wonderful paranormal tale where a harsh and savage underworld that is so deliciously dark and gritty, epic, and explosive exists. Master Campania is as delectable as he is vicious as he is sexy.……. Be still my heart. Dark and dirty are my favourite and Sylvia always delivers. With vampires, witches, fated mates, magic, secret agendas, politics, psychics, and other paranormal beings and so much more you cannot put this book down. There is greed and revenge, plenty of chemistry, unbound danger, high emotion, lots of action, highly suspenseful, palpable intensity not to mention it is steaming hot where sparks fly the purebloods are once again in a fight for their lives as they take on those that want them gone. I cannot wait for book 8. You must read the book in order because otherwise you will miss out on the backstories of these sinful delights. Do not worry you are going to love them.

The Anchor Knot is the sixth book in The Knot series that touches on sensitive and tough issues that women face throughout time. I realised 75% of the way through that this was not the first book in the series, but I felt confident that it could be read as a standalone. I will however go back and start at the beginning. The Anchors Knot has an emotional storyline that has spanned back to the start of the series. This is the final book in the series where every heartache and joy and hope and pain culminate together. It’s hard not to feel when watching what this character has gone through. Gaby has silently struggled with the shame and anger but as her secret is about to be exposed, she has gained strength, determination, and confidence to face what is about to come. To find out if Gaby gets her HEA grab a copy of the first book in The Knot series and work your way through to this book to find out.
