This is a take on Jack and the Beanstalk. In this story, Jacqueline falls for the old trick of giving her cow for some magic beans. She figures out how to make the trick work to her advantage and get her family the food they need for the winter. This is a cute retell, great illustrations and it is nice to see the girl outsmart the giant!
This middle grades book is a great one for kids from 4th- 7th grade and beyond. The characters – the twins, Jon and Frankie are likable. It was fun to read about their discovery of their own special gifts, going to boarding school, and making new friends! I liked that each student of the school had their own special teacher based on their specific gift. I know Jon wasn’t too happy with his teacher at first (cleaning the house and yard were not his gift!), and he had a hard time with learning how to control his gift and the nightmares were not fun. And while all this is happening, Jon and Frankie are still just typical kids – wanting friendships, playing soccer and missing their mom, dad and brother.

Teenage Wilf only wants to be a teenager, live a normal life in Hong Kong, and play soccer but gets thrust suddenly into the world of magic. He is on the adventure of a lifetime when he is called upon to use his magic. Witches and wizards are along for the ride as he finds himself in the realm of magic which was once divided between the two and now everyone are Mages. Traveling through dark and foggy forests to save his love Katryna and the other witches, he meets many other incredible characters along the way. I love how all the characters have distinct personalities and come to life off the pages, but my favorite must be the cranky witch Ermentrude. The adventures that Wilf takes are incredible through the three books in this series and I highly recommend reading them from the beginning. Who doesn’t want to be a magical being and have fairy tale adventures. The book is well written and easy to read and full of fun. The settings are so well written that I can almost feel the fog swirling around my legs and the damp and drafty air of the old workshops and buildings. I can hear the Watchers as they come crashing in the dark and can totally see myself fighting to do the right thing just like Wilf himself. Definitely a must read for those YA readers who love magic, adventure, and a hero that you can get behind and cheer for!

Lois Wickstrom writes fun and engaging stories for kids of all ages. Most of her books provide amazing opportunities for children to learn something new. Fee, Fi, Fo, Grow!: The Real Magic of the Beans Is no different, it teaches about how bean plants grow. A fun project to do with children would be to heave them grow their own bean plant. You could take measurements about how tall the plant grows over time. This story was enjoyable and different than many other retellings and I have to have I like it the best. I have read many Jack and The Bean Stalk retellings as an elementary librarian.

Get ready to gear up with Ranger Marco on a People Safari! Do not worry, no humans were harmed in this adventure. Ranger Marco is taking a family of deer scientists on a tour of a real human neighborhood to gather scientific information about humans. Ranger Marco helps the family navigate the neighborhood and they see daily life of humans including dogs with clothes?!? Chelle does a wonderful job capturing the thoughts animals might have about the rather strange human behaviors they see throughout the story. The illustrations throughout the book are creative and really brings the story to life. While this story is a longer one, it could be split up into sections for reading at bed time. This book would also be great to use in a classroom for a daily read aloud. At the end of the book, you could have your own people safari themed party complete with safari gear and a picnic. You could also have students write their own blurb about an illustration and from an animal’s point of view- this would work well if you have a classroom pet or even a pet at home.

Nothing good happens after midnight, except in Stars Like Gasoline. I was hooked from the first chapter and had to keep reading to find out what was going on! There is plenty of mystery, a little bit of romance, tension and a little bit of the paranormal thrown into the mix. I enjoyed the plot of Stars Like Gasoline and you will too!
I love love love second chance romances! I love reading how people can forgive even if they can’t forget. Knowing that just because something didn’t work out the first time doesn’t mean it can’t work out again years later. I love this series so I knew I was going to love this read. I loved the characters and I love this authors writing! Her words just suck me in and I’m only focused on this story! If you’re looking for a rollercoaster ride full of emotions, check this book out! I suggest reading the other books that come before this one!

I enjoyed reading this collection of stories. This is a collection of heartfelt stories from this author’s experiences. Some will pull at your heartstrings and others are inspirational. Each experience is unique from the others. I enjoyed how engaging they were and the emotional roller coaster ride they took me on. This is my first book by this author which I look forward to seeing what is next for him. This is a great collection that you don’t want to miss. You will relate to some experience in a way. Easy to see yourself in the experience. I highly recommend this book.

Stay For Me is the fifth book in The Balefire Series. This is a Second Chance Romance that is fast paced and hard to put down. I’m a huge fan of Rock and Roll Romance and the persona that comes along with it. This is Garrett’s and Olivia’s story. These two have great chemistry between them even if she has a broken heart because of him in the past. He chose his band over her and she’s been working hard to make a name for herself. He’s got another chance to make things right between but will she let him in again? I don’t want to give away to much. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. Consigliere’s Revenge is the third book in the Sicilian Gods Series and is a Mafia Romance with a bit of suspense that once you start reading there’s no stopping until you finish. I devoured this book in one afternoon. As with any book by this author you are pulled into the characters world and feel everything they are experiencing. I’m a huge fan of Mafia Romance and a even bigger fan of this author. I never hesitate to read whatever she writes and I love each one. I highly recommend reading this series in order as each book is about a different couple but there are characters that overlap in each story plus you get a better idea of what has happened and you get to know the characters . This story is packed with drama, revenge, action, loyalty and so much more. Get ready for some serious sparks to fly in this intense story. I highly recommend reading to find out what happens next as you don’t want to miss it. As always I look forward to reading more from this Author.

I can’t believe that we are already three books into this series. That being said you can definitely read this is a stand alone but seriously why would you want to. You have two other books before this of amazing mafia men that you won’t want to miss out on. Okay, this book is hands down amazing and grips koi to the words within the first chapter. You won’t want to do anything else other than read what is on the pages. You will try to figure things out as you go along but you won’t be able to. That is what I loved the most about this book. When I thought it was going to go one way it went a different way. I am a huge fan of the mafia trope and these books do no let me down. You will find the right amount of suspense, steam, character development, and just honestly good writing. The book brings into the plot the other two books but if you haven’t read them, you will want to. However the author makes it to where you understand what is going on and aren’t left clueless. It is a quick read with the need to finish it in one day. I personally recommend reading the other two books in the series first because I love this series and the mafia men in them. However, if you don’t have time you will be fine. Xiao Ying returns home to a family of healers to find them all murdered and vows to avenge them. This causes him to seek evidence he needs and not letting anything stand in his way until he meets a certain nine tailed demon.
After reading Afflicted Love, this was in a different genre of M/M novels. I really needed that after such an emotional read.
I enjoyed the different POVs but I loved the story in general. There were some funny moments but the romance, of course, is what hooked me the most. I wanted to know how Huli and Xiao Ying would get to that point and how the confession would go. How the journey would bring them close together.

He even changes his name so people don’t associate with his meth addicted dad and to start a new life for himself and becomes a brother to Lyle, he looks after and takes care of him.
Years later, Kyle and Lyle feelings change for each other. While Kyle has accepted himself, Lyle is in denial which leads him to propose to his girlfriend, Tracey, causing a rift between them.
Four years go by and the two are brought back together when the man they called Dad passes away.
Past emotions stir and Lyle’s feelings for his brother, that he tried to deny, reveal themselves.
I went into thinking it would be a quick M/M story. I was not prepared for the emotional rollercoaster this story was going to give me. That ending! I need the next book right now. I hope someone doesn’t lose their memory and Kyle and Lyle have to find a way back to each other.
As bad as I feel for Kyle, with all the beatings he endured, I was proud and happy when he started to love himself more and picked himself.
I really hope we get the sequel soon. This is my first novel by this author but it won’t be my last.
Megs sister Sue tries to explain monsters to her because she is blind and can’t see them But Meg is very cleverly able to have an answer for every suggestion Sue makes. I really loved that about Meg. I highly recommend this book with its creative storyline and wonderful illustrations.

Breathless Love is the third book in the wonderful ‘The Bennetts of Langston Falls’ Series by romance supremo, K.G Fletcher#lovealwayswins. I know I have said this dozens of times now, but I can’t help that Ms. Fletcher keeps outdoing herself with each new book she releases- but I LOVE this story- I think it might be one of her best yet. She had me swooning while all the emotion strummed at my heart strings. This is another example of why Ms. Fletcher is on my automatic one-click, no questions asked author list- because I don’t even need to see a cover, or read a blurb, to know that I’m going to love every minute between her covers. The Bennet’s of Langston Falls is a really fantastic series, each member of the family getting their own book, and each capturing my heart along the way. The books could be read as standalones, but I highly recommend reading the previous books before starting on this one, as they are all superb stories in their own right, and they will all make you feel like you want to stay in Langston Falls and have a Christmas tree farm, listen to music, and hang out with good friends. Hank Bennett dreams of making it big in the country music scene. But achieving them hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing. Talks Like Thunder is the first Novella in the Red With Native Blood series. This is a wonderfully written story of Dessert Flower and her journey to become Talks like Thunder. The first word that comes to mind is Beautiful, even though there is a lot of sadness in this story that will bring tears to your eyes in many parts, it is sadly the realistic truth of the of what happened to the native people. Being native myself I felt this book was written so well and truthful in so many ways, with great detail to the ways of the people, and all things that are important to us. I highly recommend this book. I can’t wait for the next.

Stars Like Gasoline by Jessika Grewe Glover is a suspenseful paranormal tale with ghosts/spirits, mystery, family, friendship, love, loss, and even a few darker topics that may be sensitive for some, such as abuse, slurs, violence, and stalking. The author broached these topics in such a way that I wasn’t triggered by them, but I wanted to mention them as a precaution for others that might be.
Jessika Grewe Glover has written an interwoven/ layered complex storyline of ghosts and their past lives along with living people in a different time. I applaud the great skills she used to keep all these layers from getting jumbled up and confusing. The characters are so creative and well written as well that they draw you into the story and make you want to know more about their lives past and present. All the connections and mysteries keep you guessing as you laugh at the banter and characters’ antics. It has a good mix of scary, funny, and drama-filled scenes.
We start off meeting Celia, an art curator who, with the help of her brother Oscar and friend Adrian, will try to figure out all the mysteries surrounding the spirits and those of the house she bought. This gets really interesting as Celia can see ghosts and has been able to since she was young. She has just accepted this fact over time, which amazed me. Their hunt for answers takes several wild turns and no one expects the events that follow. This is a well written story and many will enjoy it!

Japan is the third book in the Tally and the Angel series by Eleanor Dixon. This is the first of the series I read, so was a little confused with some details and I had to research the background. Tally, her dad and her angel Jophiel go to Japan on an adventure and learn about Japanese history, culture and traditions. She makes friends with Yoshie and Miyu and hits off instantly. But then a mystery unfolds itself and it is upto Tally and her “not-so-predictable” angel Jophiel to solve it, There is a ghost queen, sumo wrestling and a cursed drum in the centre of this mystery.
It’s an interesting plot, I wish I had read the books in order . It can be read as a standalone book but some research has to be done to understand who is who.

This was a 5 star read. I love dark and steamy and this book has it all. I was pulled right in from the beginning. Lorenzo and Izzy, I really enjoyed their story. Izzy has plans to reveal secrets and she shows up where she shouldn’t be. With his reputation being compromised Lorenzo has to deal with Izzy. But there is something about her that is pulling him in. This book was enjoyable from word one! I especially love all the music and television/movie references scattered throughout. I did not realize that this book was part of a series. Reading this one as a standalone worked out well, as there was enough backstory throughout this story to catch me up to date on previous events that took place. I do want to go back and read the first book though!
Darcy is a former drummer who owns a music store. Derek is coming to town and he’s an entertainer that’s got a bit of a tarnished reputation. He’s decided to do an apology tour to make it up to his fans for his past behavior. He purposely chose to kick off his tour in Darcy’s hometown due to some history that they’ve had together. The town is all abuzz about Derek’s arrival and upcoming concert. Then the big night comes, the show is a success, and unfortunately, it does not go on as planned. Derek is found murdered in his dressing room. There are several people that are potential suspects and the police are on it. The question is, can they solve it before Darcy can?
I loved the adventure and mystery in this book. It keeps you guessing right up until the end. The curve balls thrown are very clever! As a lover of music, I enjoyed this even more with all the musical references.

Another riveting take in the story between the De Rosa and LaRussio families! I am so excited to see if there’s a next book, or what the next book will entail. The suspense, enemies to lovers with a HEA, everything about this book was phenomenal. Everything about this series so far is just absolute perfection! If you’re a Mafia lover, definitely check this book and the other books in the series out!

This book is a huge storm of action, romance, mystery, and tenacity! I absolutely loved every second of it, and just devoured it! I don’t know if I was just so drawn in to the book that it took me such a short time to finish it, or if it is a shorter book, but either way it was a very quick read! I highly recommend this author and this series! Mafia lovers, don’t sleep on Sicilian God’s! You won’t regret it, because this author does not disappoint!
