Hot For Me (The Balefire Series Book 4) by Tam DeRudder Jackson. I love this series and this book has become one of my favorites. It can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading the series. This is the story of Adam who is a bass player for a rock band and he is a hot rock star but he’s never really wanted to settle down until he meets Cristy. Cristy is a rock star on her own and loves to party like a rock star. When she is invited to go on tour with Adam’s band they have instant chemistry. Adam has never wanted to have a relationship with anyone until he meets Cristy but something about her intrigues him. He also feels like she is hiding something but with their chemistry he’s willing to take a chance. This is a fun, hot read that will keep you flipping pages late in the night.

Lucky Stars by Fantasia Yu. This is such a fun, adventurous romance. Its the story of Mora who is tired of all her Royal duties. Tired of being held to all these rules she decides to go on an adventure with rebel pilot Darin. Not realizing the mess she was going to get in when they are chased by bounty hunters. While on the adventure with Darin Mora begins to get feelings for him but she hasn’t told him who she really is. Mora is supposed to be married to someone else due to her royalty status. She’s scared to death that if Darin finds out who she is he won’t like her anymore or accept that she is a Princess. Darin doesn’t want to be bound to any rules so if he knew who Mora was he probably wouldn’t have anything to do with her. Hot For Me (The Balefire Series Book 4)Hot For Me by Tam DeRudder Jackson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Hot For Me is book #4 in the Balefire Series.
It can be read as a stand alone.
Hot For Me was the 1st book from this author I’ve read and it’s the 1st of this series I’ve read.
It’s a long story but sooooo worth the read. I couldn’t put it down. Okay so I was forced to put it down a few times due to work and life but I definitely didn’t want to.
The author gave the story great characters and a great storyline. Things got very hot & steamy quite a few times.
There were a few times at the end I thought the book was ending then I turned the page and there was more. Definitely not a bad thing. It just surprised me a little. It sounded like the story was complete…. then….SURPRISE…a few more pages.
Overall very enjoyable, entertaining, book. I must get my hands on the 1st three and I can’t wait for #5 to come out.

Savage Start (Hidden Valley Elite Prequel) by Isla Vaughn

Savage Start is the prequel to this authors Hidden Valley Elite Series. This is a short story that can be read in an hour. The only thing I can say is I want more and I want it now. With that being said im super excited to read the full story of theses characters. This is a fairly new author to me and I’m definitely a fan. Riley and Cole come from completely different backgrounds but they both have secrets and are both used to adjusting to new environments. I don’t want to give to much away. This is such a short story with an ending that will leave you craving more. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I can’t wait to read more about these characters and more.

I am not normally a fan of novellas (this includes prequels and extended epilogues). They are usually lacking in the information and details I require to really enjoy a storyline. That however is not the case with this one. The author is on point with details, character development and backstory. I have to say this particular start to a series has drawn me in. I will definitely be reading the series.

This is a dark, fast paced, psychological thriller that will leave you terrified to sleep with the lights off. While there isn’t much background information I found the information that was given just enough to read through the story without focusing too much on the why. If you have unresolved issues with abuse or alcoholism that can be triggered you should not read this book. If you love the dark side of life or enjoy the darker side of things this book is for you.

Operation Blackbird (Brass Compass Series Book 2) by Ellen Butler – Review by Sarah King

Operation BlackbirdOperation Blackbird by Ellen Butler
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Being a spy during the Cold War came with all sorts of challenges. Miriam had experienced more than one of them. Her team’s current assignment is to relocate a defecting scientist and his family to America. But, things can never be that simple. They must evade other spies from multiple agents all while staying alive.

This book is the second in the series though it can be read as a standalone. I enjoyed Butler’s ability to weave an amazing story while keeping many things from the story true to the period and her characters having depth. I can’t wait to read more by this author. I would suggest this book to others.

A cute story for the little ones. It is about a young piglet who can’t wait to get to big kid school and the surprises that await her. This is a quick story that little ones will enjoy especially those in preschool. The little piglet has interactions with family and friends learning how to wait and being curious about what will happen at her new school. Little ones can relate to the piglet and it is written in a way that entertains and explains easily to them, making this a fun and entertaining read for preschoolers.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Savage Collision: This is the first book of the series and when she gives that warning on her page she means it. This book really had me readling non stop. Danika is a super fierce, strong, smart
lead female, and man was there some real passion between her and Savage. Also Abello is a psychopath smh. And omg the epilogue was sooo cute i loved it lol. I think they might be my favorite couple so far.
Tortured Skye is the next book in the series by the great author Gwyn McNamee.i was excited to read about Gabe’s story. I loved him in the first book. The way he had savages back when going up against the bad guy, a plus. Even through the ups and downs he and Skye had some real heat passing between them. I’m looking forward to seeing more of them. Again a one sit read.

Stone Sober & Building Storm are the third and fourth book of the The Hawke Family series by the really talented Gwyn McNamee. She has such a way with word that your just propelled into the world that she creates. She really knows how to write passion and leave you breathless. And oh man the suspense with the twist and turn. I also love seeing the past characters return to the new stories, it really ties everything together. Like omg the surprise at the end of Stoned Sober with Nora and Stone OMG lol.

Tainted Saint & Steele Resolve are the fifth and sixth book of the series and although they were a little bit shorter than the other, but man they did not disappoint. I truly am now a huge fan of Gwyn McNamee. I am a long time reader now. I was so excited to finish these books, but I was also super sad because I didn’t want them to end. I then saw that there is a new one coming out soon, the second generation . Sign me up!. They were both also still super hottt.

Loretta’s Caterpillar (Loretta’s Insects Book #3) by Lois Wickstrom – Review by Angela Hayes

Loretta's Caterpillar (Loretta's Insects)Loretta’s Caterpillar by Lois Wickstrom
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

3.5 Stars

Loretta’s Caterpillar is the third book in the Loretta’s Insects series by Lois Wickstrom. It is another fun, fact-based, interesting, educational, and entertaining illustrated children’s storybook.
Loretta loves insects and this time she discovers and then cares for a butterfly egg, watching over and protecting it from harm as it moves through its cycle. We get to learn about butterfly lifecycles along the way, as well as facts about Monarch butterflies- how to tell males from females, their migration routes, their food source etc.
This is not just a cute story, it also encourages children to learn while they read. I read this story with my grandson, but as with the other books in this particular series, the illustrations aren’t quite as eye catching as some of Ms. Wickstrom’s other books and didn’t grab his attention like the others have done. The ‘new’ cover is great, but unfortunately the illustrations inside the book aren’t up to the same standard. Great little story though.
This series contains (so far):
-Ladybugs For Loretta (Book #1)
-Bee’s In Loretta’s Bonnet (Book #2)
-Loretta’s Caterpillar (Book #3)
-What Loretta’s Katydid Did (Book #4) —> releases in Sept (2023)
Happy reading!

Dominic tragically loses the love of his life and then gets framed for her disappearance. Although he is eventually cleared of charges, he becomes obsessed in finding what truly happened to Juliana and who is responsible for her death. Then he meets a girl named Whitney, who is the spitting image of Juliana. When Whitney tells him she was sent by the ghost of Juliana, Dominic doesn’t believe her.

I won’t mention and spoilers but Dominic, Whitney and Juliana are entangled in this crazy, suspenseful, mysterious threesome as they all try to figure out the truth behind all the lies and deception. It’s a hot, romantic, mysterious, sometimes triggering story to get lost in.

True Colors was entertaining. I found myself finished with the book before I even realized it. I believe it touched upon a lot of topics that teens throughout history had to endure. Trials of friendships, self esteem issues, bullying, gossiping, trying to find your footing while in high school, and let’s not forget boys. I think young teens would enjoy this series and is age appropriate material.

Oh my gosh…. LOVED THIS BOOK

The depth of each character was dripping from the pages. I went through every trial and tribulation, happiness, deep revenge and so so much more. I’d love to read about these characters again and see where the authors take them.

Dominic has gone from the wrong side of the tracks to a highly influential business man. He has one thing on this mind and that is revenge. He won’t stop until he gets it. His one love Juliana is gone and assumed dead but no body has ever been found. Dominic finds himself in jail for her murder.

A twist of fate has Whitney Green, a marketing agent, in the sights of Dominic when they accidentally cross paths. Whitney is dealing with some unexplained phenomena. She is hearing a voice in her head.

This story will keep you reading and won’t lose your interest at all. Please make a book 2.

This is the first book I have read from this author. I love a good small town romance but this story exceeded all my expectations. This is the second book in the Anderson sisters series. It could be read as a standalone but there are previous characters in this story as well. I could not put this book down. These characters drew me in from the first chapter. It only took me a little over a day to devour this amazing story.

Grace Anderson is the town’s cheese maker. She loves what she does. Grace is told that her parents have to leave due to mom’s health and wellbeing. She has three weeks to get the money for the farm or they will have to sell it. Grace wants to do this all on her own but Ryan Wilson wants some of her land. She can’t stand him because of the past but they need to put their differences aside to save the farm. Will Grace be able to save the farm or will it fall into the wrong hands?

I picked to read this book based on the synopsis and I’m kind of happy I picked it. I read a lot and like to mix up genres so things don’t get stale. I’m positive this book will surprise you.

Dominic is from the guy from the “wrong side of the tracks” who falls in love with Juliana Rutherford, a girl from an affluent family. When Juliana goes missing, her father accuses Dominic and put in jail even though Dominic had nothing to do with Juliana going missing. What will Dominic do once he is out of jail and working on revenge?

The authors did a great job of world building. The story kept my attention with the twists and turns. There is drama, revenge, and so much more. The characters are well written too and in an odd way, it was easy to connect with them.

It was good to read a different kind of “romance” book to read for a change. Hope you like it too.

It’s hard to believe that this is the debut novel for L.R. Liverpool because this is a bombshell of a read! I was captivated from the first chapter and couldn’t read fast enough to see what happened next. I thoroughly enjoyed the mixture of drama, suspense, romance, and mystery all told from a memoir kind of perspective. The author has a great gift of making you feel for each character and really see through their eyes. There is great detail in building this world and each character which I absolutely loved. Fenimore leaves home and joins the well-known Red Evans gang to be an outlaw. Once he’s in the gang he realizes something is amiss as members are murdered in cold blood. Fenimore also begins to have romantic feelings for another member of his gang which doesn’t make his life any simpler. I loved this book and highly recommend picking it up to get lost in this amazing world the author has crafted!

This book is absolutely dark and twisted. Dominic loves Juliana and only wants to give her the world but on the night of one of their worst fights she disappears and her dad convinces everyone that Dominic is the one that had her killed. Dominic bets on himself and wins his verdict of not guilty though having spent years behind bars and he comes out a hate filled man bent on revenge.

Just when it seems everything is falling into place for his revenge on Grant Juliana’s father, the man who had him arrested, in walks Whitney. Who just so happens to be the spitting image of Juliana and waltzes back into his life at what seems to be too big of a coincidence. Now Whitney is working on using her gift to convince Dominic that she is not Juliana. What extremes is Whitney willing to go to for this mysterious voice in her head? Can Dominic separate the woman he once loved from Whitney who just wants to help Juliana?

There are so many dark, twisted spots in this book that I almost cringed reading them. If you like dark and twisty romance novels then this may be right up your alley. Be forewarned though that this book is dark, with a huge emphasis on dark and their are some big trigger events that occur that may not be for everyone!
