Shadow Bringer: Raven AcademyShadow Bringer: Raven Academy by Brandi Elledge
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book had me glued to it from the beginning! I really liked Riley’s character. She followed the rules but deep down she wanted more for her life. Asher shows up in her community and turns her life upside down. This was definitely my kind of book and it left me needing more! I can’t wait to read the next book!

No Amends by Angela Lam – Review by Jamie Truex

No AmendsNo Amends by Angela Lam
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is the first book I’ve read from Angela Lam. I really wasn’t sure what to expect. The cover and description didn’t really give me a whole lot but I figured I’d give it a shot. It wasn’t bad. The story itself was realistic and kept up a good pace. The fact that it was 2 povs and the time-line went back and forth for both of them, threw me off a bit. It was a little hard to follow. Over all it was a decent read and I would pick up something else from this author.

My Big Red MonsterMy Big Red Monster by Lois Wickstrom
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Another cute book from Lois Wickstrom! This one is about a little girl who’s afraid of the monster under her bed and her brother doesn’t believe her. My granddaughter is 5 and loved the illustrations and thought it was a good idea to make the monster clean. The ending wasn’t my favorite but it works. My granddaughter is a huge fan of Lois Wickstrom and gets excited when I tell her we have another story to read!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The perfect weekend holiday read! I’m a huge fan of the Hallmark Christmas movies and this book could absolutely be made into a movie! It was a quick read that kept me interested the entire time. Holly’s character is so sweet. I felt bad for her not really understanding why she struggled more than her father. I was a bit surprised they didn’t teach her growing up. But if you want to be put in the Christmas spirit, grab this book and a cup of hot cocoa!

Killer Smile by Allan Evans – Review by Jamie Truex

Killer SmileKiller Smile by Allan Evans
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Allan Evans kills it again! Cade is back in book two facing more challenges. After stopping a serial killer in book one, he finds out about a website for serial killers to challenge each other! And besting the cop who caught the last serial killer is their goal. This book I feel is darker than the first but again, very well written. Allan Evans has a very unique writing style that I’m drawn to. If you like murder mysteries I highly recommend this book. It can be read alone, however do yourself a favor and don’t miss out on book one!

Another great book from Allan Evans! The cat and mouse game between the killer and our hero, Cade, is very well written. I would really like to dive deeper into Cade’s character but the story itself was a quick and easy read. I was never really left wondering what was going to happen next, but I thoroughly enjoyed the boom and am looking forward to reading the next installment. As always, I recommend reading this or any other story from Allan Evans.

Wild Lavender (Heart & Hand, #1)Wild Lavender by Nicole E. Kelleher
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first book I have read from Nicole Kelleher and I really enjoyed it. Wild Lavender is the first book in this series. I was hooked from the first chapter. I loved Anna’s character and how strong she was. Lord Roger reminded me of my ex so he was easy to hate haha. Larkin was easy to love too. I was cheering for them the whole time. I am absolutely ready to start book two!

The story for children who love dogs between the ages of 0-8. A perfect addition to home and classroom libraries. by Dr. Kimberlie Harris
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first children’s book I have read from this author. My 5 year old granddaughter loved the illustrations and thought the story was cute. She kept saying “That’s not a dog” and laughing. I thought the ending could have been better. I see she has another book and I look forward to reading it as well. The book is rated 0-8 years old but I think 0-5 is probably more accurate.

Notebook Mysteries ~ A Party to RememberNotebook Mysteries ~ A Party to Remember by Kimberly Mullins
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Yet another great book in the Notebook Mystery series! Emma is such a wonderful character that I have enjoyed in each book so far. In this story, they get invited to a party by a couple that they don’t normally see. Naturally, Emma is suspicious. Is there something going on, or is this just a party? Very quick read that keeps you turning the page.

Shadow's Fall (Shadowstalker Series Book 3)Shadow’s Fall by Natalie Johanson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the third book in this series. I did not have the opportunity to read the first two before reading Shadow’s Fall. I was able to keep up, however I would like to go back and start at the beginning. That being said, I really enjoyed this book. It’s a dark fantasy story with a wonderfully written main character named Rose. I connected with her very easily. I do recommend this book, however do start at the beginning of the series.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was the first book by this author that I have read. I wasn’t sure what to expect but it sounded interesting and the cover was cool. I’m so glad I gave it a chance! It started a little slow and confusing for me but within a few chapters I was addicted. I really liked Rowan’s character and I felt connected with Arryn’s character. The world building was excellent and what an interesting world it is! I liked the ending and am looking forward to reading more.

The Magic Carousel (The Brass Ring Series Book 1) by K.L. Small – Review by Jamie Truex

The Magic Carousel (The Brass Ring #1)The Magic Carousel by K.L. Small
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the first book I’ve read by K. L. Small. I was intrigued by the title and the cover photo. I got hooked from the beginning. Russell is very relatable, especially to kids at the preteen age. He doesn’t want to be responsible for his grandpa! He’s got his own issues to deal with, like an old friend turned bully and his slipping grades. This book took me on adventures right along side Russell and his grandpa. I would recommend this book for many age levels and to be read to a younger group. I look forward to reading more books from this author.

Mesmerised (Hybrid Lovers #2)Mesmerised by Toya Richardson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is not my first book from Toya Richardson but probably my favorite so far.
She did such a great job with the character development and Donna is very relatable. I am really starting to enjoy the different POVs in a story and this book did very well with it. I would say this story is fast paced and flows nicely. If you enjoy paranormal romance books, this is one you should consider. I’m glad I did and look forward to reading more of her books.

Vampires of Atlantis by Courtney Davis – Review by Jamie Truex

Vampires of AtlantisVampires of Atlantis by Courtney Davis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The title is what really got my attention. I love reading about vampires and the city of Atlantis has always intrigued me. I was not disappointed. I love the fact that Katherine isn’t a pushover and I can definitely relate to her character. The story moves pretty quickly and keeps you hooked from the beginning. There’s plenty of action and some steamy parts. There has to be a second book because I need to know if she finds the stone and many more things. I definitely recommend this book.

The Misery House (The House on the Hill Book 1) by David Kummer – Review by Jamie Truex

The Misery House (The House on the Hill #1)The Misery House by David Duane Kummer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first book I’ve read by David Kummer. It is written in multiple POVs. Sometimes I don’t like that but it worked in this book. It helped build the suspense. It also shows the common fear of the creepy house on the hill. Every town has that one scary house that kids dare each other to go in. But what if there’s really something bad in there? This book leaves a killer cliffhanger and I can’t wait for book two!

This is the 5th book in the series. I absolutely recommend you start at the beginning and give this whole series a shot. Plenty of vampires, action, love, guilt, learning. You won’t be disappointed! I’m glad there is room for another book because I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to these characters. Like the rest of the books, I had a very hard time putting this one down.

Fallen Soul (War of Destiny #4)Fallen Soul by Theresa Van Spankeren
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the 4th book in a very good series. This one is from the point of view of Lane instead of Julia. Lane is a lone vampire who feeds off of humans and vampires as well. Other vampires think he is insane and Valentino has ordered him killed on sight. He get surprised by Julia one night and realizes not all vampires are the same. He meets and helps her group. I’m not sure what to think about his “relationship” with Kali. Either way, it was a great addition to the series!

This book sounded very interesting to me and I have read other books by this author. There is a lot going on in this book and different point of views. I found it difficult to stay engaged in this one. It was a good story but it didn’t catch me like some. It was action packed and had wonderful characters, some old and some new. I am interested in seeing what happens next so I will be picking up the next book. Overall not a bad read.

Another truly amazing book from C. A. King! You think you know, and then here comes the twist. Truly had a bad childhood and as an adult, things don’t seem to be better for her, despite her efforts. She’s working three jobs to pay her rent and her psychiatrist. I really enjoyed this book and recommended you give it a try.

This was a very cute story about how animals possibly see us humans. How we live must really be very peculiar to them and even rather scary. My 4 year old granddaughter found the story amusing. She really liked the illustrations too. I would definitely consider purchasing this book for gifts as well.

This is the first book I’ve read by Sinister Styx and I’m hooked! This is a dark paranormal story filled with plenty of paranormal creatures, lust, love, murder and more. The cover caught my attention and the synopsis was intriguing, but the story was more than I’d hoped for. It was very fast paced and an easy read. I felt a connection with Belladonna. I can only hope there is more to come. I highly recommend this book if you like dark paranormal stories. I can’t wait to see what else this author has in store.

This is the third book in the Millersville series by Susan Specht Oram. It was a little harder for me to get in to than the others but still a good read. We follow Miranda Diggs who has been through a lot and is trying to relax. But things don’t turn out that way. The reader did a good job of keeping you engaged. I do recommend this book and this series.

This is the second book in the Space Force Rejects series by Landra Graf. This story follows Sera and Markus. I enjoyed this one just as much, if not a bit more than the first story. You do not need to read the first book since it doesn’t pick up where the first left off. Still a very talented author that I would recommend.

Pulling Together by Lois Wickstrom is another wonderful children’s book. The illustrations are very well done and there’s always a good message for the kids to learn. I shared this with my 4 year old granddaughter and she really enjoyed it. We giggled at some parts and she recognized the slight bullying. I definitely recommend this story, or any of Lois Wickstrom’s stories.
