This was another great read from Ms Suen! I love following Eve and her adventures. This may be a short story but it is certainly not short on detail. Poor Eve was expecting to have a nice relaxing getaway with her friends but as we know when Eve is about there is always something to be solved! There were so many twists and turns in this story – everything was definitely not as it seemed! The author did an amazing job of keeping the suspense going the whole way through the story. These books are an absolute must read – I can’t wait to read this author’s next book!

I am a definite fan of Eve’s mysteries. This one is a definite page-turner. There were little twists thrown in that kept you on your toes. Eve and her friends make a terrific crew when it cums to solving mysteries. I knew the aunt was in there somewhere but how? I didn’t see that ending coming. I found the cast of characters quite entertaining and intriguing. They really kept me guessing in figuring out who did it. I love the writing. This is one of my favorite authors for suspense and mystery. She has a talent for drawing you into her web of words. A definite must read.

This is an author that I have read every one of her books and loved reading each one. I enjoy her writing style as well as her attention to details that make her characters pop. I never hesitate to pick up one of her books. I found this book to be well written and hard to put down. A story that is fast paced with a mystery that will keep you guessing to the end. Eve is a great character that finds herself in a race against time and giving a victim’s family answers they deserve. She is a strong character that adds so much to the story. I enjoyed watching the growth of her character as well as the plot throughout the story. This is a story you don’t want to miss. It is a must read. I highly recommend this book and this author.

What a wonderful story. The narration made you feel so part of the story, bringing out emotions. I got sweet tears in my eyes at one point.
Katie is working in the big city following her dreams. Working herself to the bone and eating TV dinners because she is just to exhausted.
Chase is now the father to little Timmy, his brother’s son. He is content and has found happiness and love again in the little guy.
When Katie had broken his heart he never once imagined he would ever get over her. They hadn’t spoken since the day she left to follow her career.
In this second chance book, you will follow the pain they once went through and the new hope that lies ahead.

Katie finds her hometown friend’s wedding invitation buried under a stack of mail and makes the last-minute decision to escape her demanding job long enough to attend. She’s given little thought to being “minus a plus one” until the bride suggests she attends with another single. Anticipating polite conversation with a stranger over the plated entrée, Katie agrees… and finds herself face-to-face with her high school boyfriend, who she hasn’t seen since she dumped him after graduation.
Once a shy, gawky teenager, Chase has grown into a strong, handsome man. Yet he never escaped the heartache of Katie’s sharp rejection. For years, he’s distracted himself with work. Now, his time is filled with raising his nephew after his brother and sister-in-law died in a car accident. The last thing he needs is a painful reminder of the past. Yet, thanks to his cousin the bride, the two meet and realize the spark of attraction between them is still burning bright.
But Katie needs to return to her job, and Chase can’t uproot his orphaned nephew. Can the pair reconcile and build a future together?

Murder Creek is Book One in the Eve Sawyer Mystery Series. It is a murder mystery that centers around the character of Eve Sawyer. Eve is a journalism student who chooses to write an article about a woman who went missing twenty years ago. The only clue to the woman’s disappearance was a bloody scarf that was left behind. Eve decides to delve into the case acting as an amateur sleuth to solve the cold case. Eve has an ability that few others prior to her had which give her a bit of an upper hand in solving the case. As an empath she has unique abilities that allow her to notice minute details that others might overlook. Eve can also feel and sense the moods of others which allows her to tune into their mindset. An added bonus is that as an empath people feel more comfortable with Eve and will openly confide in her.
This was a wonderfully written book with an intriguing storyline and relatable characters. I adored the character of Eve and felt a connection with her. She was smart, feisty, determined, and courageous. I loved that the author chose to write Eve as an empath because I have not yet read about a character with that ability. Empaths have unique gifts and abilities that often get overlooked. They can pick up on energy, moods, and feelings of those around them. Empaths can often sense when someone is lying and picking up on negative energy. Empaths are those that others generally feel comfortable around enough to open up and discuss things that they generally would not divulge to anyone else. How do I know this? I know from personal experience because I discovered a few years ago that I am an empath. Random strangers have come up to me at bus stops and at my workplace and told me things that they have never told another person. These individuals were surprised afterwards that they told me what they had. I can sense other people’s moods and pickup on their energy. Negative energy is emotionally draining so it is important to be surrounded by happy, positive individuals. A huge shoutout to the author for giving the character of Eve the unique ability of empath. This book had action, suspense, mystery, intrigue, and a few twists and turns that kept me reading until the end. I anxiously await the next book in this amazing series!

This is the first book in the Eve Sawyer Mystery series. Short but enjoyable, this is an easy read. The writing was descriptive and easy to follow, flowing easily. The characters were interesting, plenty of suspects and suspicious interactions, occasionally leading to red herrings designed to leave you guessing. The storyline was great, I really loved the premise and direction the book was taking. But, while I enjoyed the idea/plot of the story and felt it held a lot of potential, at times it felt a little rushed and as a result underdeveloped. I would have loved for the book to be longer with more depth to the characters and clue discovery as at times it didn’t sense to make sense why/how this occurred. Despite this, I still enjoyed this as an easy, quick and engaging read. Overall, if you’re looking for an easy read with interesting characters this is an enjoyable read.

Eve Sawyer is coming up on the end of her semester in her journalism class and she has a final paper due. Her paper is completed but on a recent trip, she crossed Murder Creek and became intrigued by the name. As she researched the area, she learned of a cold case and decided she wanted to further investigate it. She approaches her professor, asks to take an Incomplete for the time being on her paper, and proceeds to find herself researching the case of Lacey Walken.
Eve has no idea the clues she’s going to unravel and finds herself possibly in harm’s way too.
This short little read took me just over an hour to complete. It held my interest the entire time and the story was very well written. I look forward to more reads by this author!

This is a nice, clean, cozy mystery and a great book for younger readers getting into the genre. Our main character could be in school for investigative journalism but I feel she would have been better as only a detective. She was good at talking to people and linking things together. I think instead of random details about food the author could have included more on the main character, like her love for writing or other details in her life showing her connection to nature. I enjoyed the ending, I like that she solved the case and more with what happened to Lacy.

Eve is a character that you will love. I fell into the story right from the start. She got hooked on the story of Murder Creek just as much as I was hooked into her story. I couldn’t put this story down. I loved how much her passion kept her going as people tried to divert her attention away from the mystery. This is one of those stories that keeps you engaged because of many things. The characters are quite entertaining. The mystery is one that you have to keep going because you have to figure out who did it. People turning her away just had the opposite effect, she just kept going. This is a quick read and I can’t wait for the next story to come out.

Eve is drawn to Murder Creek and the disappearance of Lacey. So much so that she asked for an incomplete on her paper for school so she could write on this particular case.
What she uncovered at Murder Creek was not only answers but peace about a murder many years before Lacey disappeared. I loved how the author gave credible information and sources. This book shows that all it takes is one piece of information and a whole more will unravel.

I was in between a three and a four star rating after reading Murder Creek. This is the authors debut novel which could attribute to some of the issues that I had throughout the book. While I was really enjoying the mystery aspect of the story and getting into a good flow the author would randomly stop, at the end of a chapter, seemingly mid thought, only to drop us back into yet another different place, or different thought. The abrupt changing of chapters, thoughts, and actions really pulled me out of the story. It wasn’t hard for me to fall back into it because as I mentioned it was a really good idea, the story could have been amazing. Maybe with more practice the author might be able to smooth the story out a bit. I will definitely read another book by this author and find out.

Dreams about people from long ago, current reality in a town place called Murder Creek, and delicious food- what isn’t there to like? My favorite part of this “whodunnit” is the clever way the past is connected with the future and Eve attempts to solve a cold case. Even the minor characters are well-rounded and I enjoyed the snippets of Southern hospitality throughout.
Ultimately, this book explores whether friends or family have thicker ties, and how to relive a character’s remorse from a choice he made years ago. Well-written, quick read.

Murder Creek was different. It kind of reminded me of the show Cold Case. The author presented the story in a different light. Instead of local police looking into a cold case, it was a student. Not only a student but one who is studying journalism. Eve came across a story of this missing girl who was never solved. She felt it was her need to dig and do this girl justice. So much so that she asked her professor to give her an incomplete, so she could use this story as her semester project. Not realizing what she would find by digging. People were reluctant, people really didn’t want her digging, and others told her what they knew. What was the question she was trying to answer, what happened to Lacey Walken? The author put together a wonderful investigative mystery that keeps the reader wondering. I’m typically really good at figuring things out early, but it even took me some time navigating before I got there. Which kept me interested, kept me intrigued, and made me want more. Which to me is exactly what the author is trying to do with their work. So if you like cold case mysteries, give this shorter story a try. I doubt you’ll be disappointed.

A quick, easy cozy mystery. The author puts together nice little story that is week developed, even in its short fashion. It is an easy read with very straight-forward writing and is engaging enough to finish in one sitting.
While I enjoyed this story, it wasn’t exactly what I was expecting. I would have enjoyed a bit more depth to the story and characters, but understand if the author was trying to write a simple cozy mystery. It was at least enjoyable and I’d pick up another by the author in the future.

Just loving the cover and even more so once I got lost in between the pages ❣️📕
Brad , Mary and Jim were school friends and Brad had a soft spot for Mary but before he gets the chance to admit how he feels Jim swoops in and Mary becomes his girl . Brad kept tabs on them and I don’t think he ever let her go ….
Brad has to head home for his sisters wedding and while he’s there he’ll check in on his new project , he’s in construction and he’s building a tiny home community with a shared garden that’s eco friendly and green friendly so other than surviving the weekend he’s got that to keep him busy
As I said I don’t think Brad every really let Mary go and he’s always held a candle for her and that’s really evident when their paths cross again and all he wants to do is protect her , rekindle what they had and let it blossom into something more oh and make sure other men leave her alone 😂🙈🥰
Mary and Jim’s break up is till a little fresh so I get that Mary is a little hesitant or careful but Brad works his magic in so many different ways , I even fell I. Love with him and I’ve been happily married for 21 years !!!! 😂❣️
I just loved being part of this journey and it was good for the soul to catch up with old friends and family and these people truly are friends that become family and you just want to be apart of it all ! These are people you’ll go to war for ❣️

This author is talented in more ways than one. not only does she have a way with words, but those words really hit you deep down, no matter what is going on in your personal life, you’re bound to fall in love with the characters that run deep in these pages. The world building itself is amazing, but I am never let down by her ability to draw you in and spit you out at the end, leaving you wanting to reread everything she brings to the table.
These characters are certainly ones that we have all read of before, that second chance love that everyone, or at least, myself, longs for day after day, year after year. The one that got away, the one you know that you would do anything you could to have back in your grasp. Maybe you don’t realize it, maybe they don’t but eventually, time heals all wounds. Dive into this love story, and I’m sure you will understand what I am talking about! Highly recommend.

Brad and Mary grew up together and had secret crushes on one another in high school, but never got together. Brad moved away so he didn’t have to watch her be with someone else and used his time to keep hustling and growing his own business.
When he travels back home a decade later for an old friends wedding, a local cupid makes sure Mary and Brad end up running into each other, and nudges in all the right places to coax conversation about past misunderstandings. What will come of clearing the air?
Mary is down to earth, believable, likable. Brad is hardworking, a bit stubborn, also likable. A little dreamy, sweet. Can take a little time to get into it and get the feel for the presentation. Enjoyable world building. Second book in the series but easily standalone.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Brad left his hometown right after graduation, unable to stay knowing Mary had chosen his friend Jim before he could confess his feelings to her. He was back in town for her sister’s wedding . Mary’s friend matches up her and Brad . You have to read the whole story to see what happens next . I can’t wait to read more from this author.
